Review Workshop Eatery - Edmonton

Yes, this is a great place to dine in. I loved the vibes. The atmosphere is very laid back and and welcoming. I was very happy with the food; it was well prepared and tasted great. The presentation/plating was also great. My one criticism is that the sauces and sides were just shy of being too salty. I experienced this both times I've dined here. The ingredients used is great and and the chefs are clearly very technical and I hope they can adjust the sodium level in the future. There is just no reason to over salt.

My husband first had a dine-in experience at the Workshop Eatery with his colleagues, and he wouldn't stop raving about how delicious the food was. So, we decided to all visit for my birthday dinner. True to his words, I was not disappointed. Even my little picky eater devoured his meal. Their Lobster & Artichoke dip starter was sooooo good; I'm head over heels. Then we had the pork chop and the smoked short rib main menu while the kids enjoyed their chicken fingers + grilled cheese + potato chips. The restaurant was an excellent choice. Thank you for my special birthday dessert serving.

Nice environment great food. The only reason I gave it a four star is because the soup I had is a bit salty. It was a mushroom soup, could be it’s done in a big pot, and steamed for a while, then the soup got salty. Otherwise, everything is good!

Its difficult not to be overly critical, however this restaurant borderline ruined food for me. It was that bad. Let me start by saying the server was great, and the restaurant looked amazing. No complaints at all about the location or staff. The lucifer burger was the only redeeming thing as it was quite tasty, however it was way too thick and impossible to eat without making a huge mess. The soup that it came in was a tomato soup with bacon, and it was gross. Overpowered by the bacon and way over salted. Overall this was the only decent meal of the bunch, I’d give it a 6/10 overall, mainly because I was reasonably priced at $22. The chicken meal with gnocchi was $38, and tasted horrible. The gnocchi had 0 seasoning and they were smothered in a sauce which tasted like water. The chefs seemed to have tried to compensate for the lack of seasoning by dousing the chicken in 10 lbs of pepper. It didn’t work. Borderline inedible. 0/10 overall, no redeeming qualities. Now.. for the best part. Dessert. What a nightmare folks. Absolutely atrocious. The coconut panna cotta… tasted like dried glue with not even a hint of coconut. As you can see on the photos, they used frozen mixed berries from the bag you get at Costco. Not a great look for a place that prides itself on fresh seasonal ingredients. -100/10 The crème brule… run away. The custard on the inside tasted like nothing, and the sugar coating on top was way too thick and had a disgusting bitter and Smokey aftertaste. It had a crumble on top which was more just 2 massive chunks and made a dessert which was supposed to be light extremely heavy. -100/10. Overall, there is not a chance in hell that This place will get a 2nd chance. Anyone giving it 5 stars must be a friend of someone working there. It’s the only explanation. If you want incredible food for less money, try medium rare in chappelle area. 100000x better.

I am honestly so impressed. This is the first place I've had in Edmonton that comes close to the quality of food I've had in New York. For real. The flavors are unbeatable. I had the salmon. Excellent cook, best risotto, and wonderfully paired with beets. Each bite was amazing. 100% coming back.

Great place for foodies.! The style of cooking was so refreshing and different than what other local restaurants have to offer. Kudos to the executive chef for such a versatile menu! Although, drinks menu can be further expanded. A must visit!

Amazing. Actually a good serving size for a place that has that fancy presentation. Highly recommend Short rib with Brussels sprouts as an app.

My Wife and I had our Wedding at the Primed Mosaic Centre and decided to have a somewhat low-key 1st Anniversary supper at the Workshop. Well... Kari and the cook had other plans! They went out of their way to make it a very special night for us. Kari had a special dessert serving made for us, she even played our "First Dance" music when it was served. Kari also indulged us and recreated a couple of the wedding photos that we took one year ago. Now about the food... The carpaccio was outstanding and both entrees were fantastic. Dessert, coffee, drinks, and great ambiance. It was so refreshing to have Tier 1 service with energy and enthusiasm. We were so happy a year ago with the efforts the staff made then, and they have exceeded all expectations tonight! Thank you to Kari and the great staff at The Workshop Eatery. We will see you soon.

Cannot say enough good things about this amazing place! Everytime we eat there we are treated like family by the wonderful staff and get treated to some of the best food we've ever eaten. They are all about fresh, homegrown ingredients and concepts, and everything on the ever changing menu is just the best. Also love the work they do in the community. Can't get much better than the people and food at workshop! Recommend to anyone and everyone in a heartbeat, thanks workshop!!

Chef Paul is amazing. I booked a surprise Chef's Table for my boyfriend's birthday and it was a simply delightful night. Chef was very attentive to what our likes and dislikes were and although he was not available that night, Chef Nic tailored each dish accordingly and absolutely did not disappoint! Very cozy atmosphere, the staff were all so friendly, and service was exceptional. Sara is a wonderful server and we were well looked after. The bartender J.F. Is a cocktail wizard and paired our four course meal beautifully with some very tasty twists on some classics in such an entertaining way. Great experience!

Service was fantastic and food was even better! The arancini is too good to be an appetizer- but supper didn’t disappoint! We never eat dessert but got convinced and we were in heaven! It was a great anniversary night!

I don’t think I can say enough good things about Workshop Eatery. My husband and I took my parents (first timers) for dinner last night and absolutely everything, from appetizers to desserts and cappuccinos was superb. The service was also first rate. Workshop Eatery has become my favourite YEG restaurant. I can’t recommend it enough.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Workshop Eatery. We didn’t realize we should have made a reservation, but the hostess managed to squeeze us in because it was early enough. We sat there in awe of the atmosphere, the sounds and aromas coming from the open kitchen, and the rustic decor. Watched an enormous board full of food being paraded through the restaurant and up the stairs! The food was all fantastic, from the arancini(?) to the croissant bread pudding. My husband had the pork chop and I had the butternut squash ravioli with sage pesto.....So much flavour.....we ate slowly and enjoyed every bite! This will be our new “date night” favourite spot. Thanks for such a creative menu and restaurant!

I would give it 5 stars for food but zero for the way it treats its staff.
The experience with the wife and husband was horrendous.
Canada has labour laws that does not allow “working interviews” ,
The business here is making staff work for free their first shift (on floor , bussing , order taking ect. Not just taking notes)
As a single mom on empty with an empty fridge at Christmas... I was sent home empty handed , not even food to bring home to the child after 4 hours.
If I did a “great job” on floor you should have no issue paying me for the shift as it was my only and last before Christmas.
I would have worked here following this, but rather that remain silent I called his wife on this practice (if they cut corners at the start what other labour laws would they break ??? ) at witch point I was called a “threat” and issued and abusive call from the husband screaming and swearing profanity at me and telling me I’ll go nowhere with my serving career. I had phnemonia at the time, an empty fridge and no gifts under the tree .
Your treatment was cheap and petty, regardless of how good of a cook you are and how cool the restaurant looks .. this place will always leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Came here for dinner on Sunday night, it wasn’t super busy. Last time I came here was last year, the food I had last time was a bit below average as I had high expectation as I was told this restaurant is pretty good. So thought that maybe I would give it a second chance. But after second time, I don’t think I would come back again.

The only thing I love the most from my Sunday dinner was the sesame ice cream.

Salmon $32 – 1/5

Pan seared, red beet risotto, honey-thyme roasted parsnips, orange buerre blanc

Salmon – cooked perfectly, but not the best salmon I had, just an average salmon with a bit of salt and pepper seasoning
Orange buerre blanc – I couldn’t taste any orange or citrus flavor of the sauce at all but just oily butter flavor
, and the sauce was very little and too thick
Red beet risotto – risotto was under-cooked, rice was a bit hard to chew

Curry coconut clams $20 - 0/5

Fresh Manila clams, red curry, coconut milk, corn, peppers, chopped cilantro, fresh
griddled bread

Clams - I really love the size of calms, they were big

Red curry and coconut milk – I couldn’t taste any curry and coconut flavor but extremely salty. I did not bother to use the bread to dip into the sauce. The sauce was so little and very very salty. Salty enough that I did not want my clams picked up any sauce

Griddled bread – bread was very crunchy and had a strong flavor of butter, the only thing I love from this dish

Flourless chocolate cake $10 - 0.5/5

Espresso ganache, Pinocchio’s sesame ice cream, raspberry jam

The cake was pretty good, not very sweet and had a strong flavor of chocolate. But we found an "elastic thing" that wasn’t chew-able (looks like a worn but don’t think it was a worn) from the cake as we did not expect anything like this from the cake. Asked the server and she went to check with the kitchen, was told that when the sugar oxidized and before becoming caramelized, this could happen.

I am not a pastry chef, but if I found this "elastic thing" from the crystal sugar on the side, it would be more acceptable. Unfortunately I found this "elastic thing" from the cake and the cake is not made with caramelized sugar. I cannot convince myself to believe what I was told. I think it is more like the cutting board/ knife wasn’t completely clean when they cut the cake.

Service - 5/5
Overall food – 0.5/5

Would I give it a 3rd chance - very unlikely

Would I recommend this restaurant – No

Lunch at the workshop eatery. Glad we made a reservation as this place is busy today. Staff are quick to seat us and bring us our drinks. After a visit a long perusal of the menu we decided on the cheese burger and the fried chicken sandwich. The cheese burger arrives with a salad topped with prosciutto and a gluten free bun. Fried chicken sandwich arrives with the same type of salad and on a multi grain bun. Both sandwiches are HUGE! Flavors are great, both proteins are cooked perfectly and salads are dressed nicely. Staff are friendly and attentive. Keeping our table clean our drinks full and delivering the dessert menu at just the right time. We order a gluten free chocolate cake to share. It comes with vanilla bean ice cream and berry compote, also very good.
Service was great throughout our stay and the food was fab.
Note* restaurant is very noisy when busy and when slow. We had a hard time hearing each other at lunch. Both when the restaurant was full and when we were the only table left.

This is my family's favourite place for brunch! We go to the Fathers Day buffet every year! Its the best! Love the staff and service. Love the food even more!

As they don't have a comment page, I am warning non-Caucasians about this restaurant. I am a Filipino and I have been at this restaurant several times. I liked their arancini and brussel sprouts, but that's about it.The experience today made me realize that this restaurant is not worth the wait & the price. My husband ordered the albacore tuna with salad, the tuna was fine but the salad had a strand of hair. When we told the server about it, all she said was "oh, I will tell them". When he got his supposedly new salad, the hostess who brought just said, "new salad", and then we said " we hope there's no more hair", and you know what, instead of apologizing, she said "I sure hope not !" No apologies whatsoever.I ordered salmon club for the first time and it was very disappointing. Not only is the bread burnt, the bacon is hard, there's hardly any salmon in there. I wanted my sister in law from San Francisco to try their food, but we ended up disappointed.I am never going back and will tell my friends to not go there too.

3.5 for a true score but 4.0 for its location in the southside where we are lacking unique restaurants like this with character. First things first, the arancini was amazing. I felt like I was eating in a high end bistro in Italy. So fresh and so well put together. The hefty price tag is well justified. If anything, that is the dish to get. Everything else... well... here we go. I think my chicken burger was OK. The chicken was overcooked, dark, and crispy. I can get over that. What I couldn't get over was how saucy or "wet" the tomatoes were. I wish it was paper toweled before serving it. Thank goodness the bun was tough as all heck (and fresh) so it didn't fall apart while I was trying to eat it. Forgettable at best, really. The homemade chips were fantastic though. I couldn't get enough of that and I wish they were more generous about it. The veggie melt sandwich was burnt at first but they re-made it after we voiced our concerns. It came back looking more alive and vibrant. Other than these hiccups, I'd say it's a great place for gathering with a super high ceiling and a nice atmosphere. I sometimes felt neglected because I sat so far away from all the happenings of the kitchen in the center, but it's good to get some lone time I suppose. Good place for a date and also a good place to break up without feeling awkward.

To everyone reviewing this restaurant highly: I wish I understood.

Came here on a Sunday evening after a recommendation by Avenue magazine and other reviewers. I had high hopes, as the menu items sounded delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was overall pleasant. My friend had the duck breast and duck sausage, and I had the pork chop. While the presentation was good and the service was friendly, the flavours were bland, the food poorly-seasoned, and the meat very dry. For $30+ a plate, it was a huge disappointment. I am giving one star for the quality of the food, which was honestly poor. (The wait-time was also around 45 minutes, though maybe that's the time they spent over-cooking my pork!)

Unfortunately, many restaurants in Edmonton and area have begun to pop up that sound (and look!) high quality, but the actual flavour of the food is mediocre and frankly, sub-par in comparison with other cities and even other restaurants in Edmonton. You're likely far better off going to a family-owned or tried-and-true ethnic restaurants than to eat somewhere like this.

Maybe it's a 'big fish, small pond' situation in Edmonton right now, but this is far from a good quality restaurant if you compare it to similar-priced restaurants outside of Edmonton's borders.

Ate here for lunch one afternoon with some friends and was pleasantly surprised at the quality for such a commercial/industrial area. I had the eggplant parmesan sandwich and the carrot ginger soup. Both were great but not outstanding. The service was adequate but didn't pop out for me. I was told that the arancini is really good so if I go back that is what I will try.

Went there for lunch and had the Vegetarian melt. I expected a burger but it was actually more like a sandwich with very greasy toasts. The goat cheese was yummy but the whole dish very sweet. Chips for side. They were very salty!!

Small portion overall as I was still hungry after I left. Dish was $15 so I overpriced for the portion size.
I don't think I would go back.
Pcruicks55
Very disappointed overall. I had the baseball steak which was tough. Brussel sprouts were greasy and overcooked. Cheese tater tots were deep fried and laden with grease -- tasted almost identical to our appetizer of risotto balls. Very little flavour. Dijonaise was sauce was awful. Chicken dish came with a pitiful portion of gnocchi. Only vegetable with the chicken dish was a purée of butternut squash which resembled pumpkin pie. Creme brûlée was overpowered by a compote of sickly sweet rhubarb. Our waiter came across as being stressed and impatient. Not an impressive night to share with our friends. Way too noisy to carry on a conversation. Not good value. Did not complain as we were with friends and did not want to create a fuss.

Food - 2.5/5
Service - 3.5/5
Overall Experience -3/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Value - 2/5

Positives - great area, ample parking, romantic atmosphere, open concept is very visually appealing
Negatives - made reservations and still had to wait 30 mins to be seated, food was not pleasant (not one of our 6 dishes were finished - table of 4) and prices were relatively high. The meal took a long time and was drawn out due to the extended wait between courses.

Food

Clams were overly salty and lacked depth. Flavor was flat some clams had crunchy bits.
Pork belly was above average in texture and had decent flavor.
Lamb shank was disappointing. The meat was not as tender as it could be and flavor again was lacking depth.
Chicken was a little dry but the gnocchi was EXCEPTIONAL but not enough to salvage the meal.

Drinks

Cocktails tasted fine but did not match the pictures in the menu (pickled Caesar came with one small pickled item on it).

This is the third time I have visited this restaurant. Hopefully the forth time will win me over.

Just tried to have dinner at the Workshop Eatery and we were very disappointed. Service was terrible. We couldn't even order our dinner. Had to ask for specials and the waiter then walked away and ignored us even though we were about to order. Had to flag him down. Manager also didn't take our concerns seriously. Given that we were about to order $35 plates and had already ordered a bottle of wine, you would think clients deserves better service for the price. We will never return or recommend the restaurant. We left and went to our local favourite where service and quality is always reliable. Wish I could say the same for this restaurant that spoiled what should have been a special evening.

My wife and I decided to give Workshop Eatery a try after a friend recommended it. We arrived 5:15pm on a Thursday and were promptly seated. The server asked for our drink order and delivered it 10 minutes later at which time she took our order. We started with the Arancini which was very good moist and flavorful. I had the Schwein which was according to the menu a pork loin lightly breaded pan fried with sautéed spaetzle, braised red cabbage. My wife had the Chicken Supreme breast pan roasted with thyme jus, butternut squash puree, crispy potato gnocchi. The meal was flavorful in both cases, however the pork was over cooked and dry as was the chicken. The spaetzle was also dry. I found it unusual for a pork loin to be so flat similar to a cutlet, however I will give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. The restaurant was very full and we saw 1 server taking orders at many table so staffing appeared to be an issue. We will give the restaurant another try but it has to measure up for us to be repeat customers.

We have been a few times, once for dessert and drinks, lunch and most recently brunch. BRUNCH WAS TERRIBLE. My husband and I had a $50 bill for 2 people. Our hash browns were hard uncooked potatoes so half of the meal was inedible. We informed our server but nothing was done. We love a good meal out and don't mind paying for it but this felt like we just threw away $50. We will never be back, which is too bad. It's a good vibe and down the street by not worth it.
Just Add Aioli
We started our lackluster adventure by rummaging around a small garden trying to find the door to this restaurant, while wondering if we were still in Edmonton city limits. After walking halfway around the building a nice hostess walked outside to grab us and escorts us in. First impressions are high, the decor is excellent and inviting and the large very open kitchen near the back really rounds the room. We sit down and begin to decode the drink menu, which contains no indication of how much alcohol is in each drink. We order two drink based off of pictures alone, the My Oh My and the peach sangria. The My Oh My was a delicious aperol cocktail, but came out in the wrong glass and with a different garnish then in the pictures. The peach sangria was red, contained no flavour of peach, and also looked nothing like the picture. It was built in the wine glass flavour by flavour, so every sip was different in the worst way possible. We ordered the risotto balls(12$) to start, with the steak and perogies to follow. The risotto balls were the highlight of the meal, perfectly cooked and crunchy with a soft and robust inner flavouring. The perogies (24$) were bland and far from the enthusiastic description that menu boasted, seeming to be more like a large plate of mushy dough balls and some mushrooms. The steak(34$), while plated amazingly, had an underwhelming taste and was tough, which may be attributed to it coming out overcooked. The potatoes and brussels were cooked to perfection. We decided to skip desert assuming it would be like the rest of the meal, disappointing. The food was not horrible but for the price point (bill came to $96) it certainly was not worth it and i will not be returning.

Came here for brunch with a close friend. It's an open concept restaurant meaning that it's a bit loud but service was nice and attentive. I had the ham and cheese omelet. It was a lot of food as I didn't realize it also.comes with toast. I thought it was good. A bit lacking in seasoning but I could see how they wanted to use the flavours from the ingredients to come through. It was a bit on the greasy side so if you easily get heartburn from fat, beware. I would try it again for another meal to see what the place has to offer.
Ann
The place was nice and clean. The food was okay. It was bland and needed more seasoning especially salt. My friend and I ordered Korean bbq lettuce wrap for appetizer, chicken supreme and lingcod for our mains. The appetizer was good for sharing. As for the mains, the chicken supreme has a nice crispy skin however it was dry, and lingcod was cooked perfectly. We cannot hear our server's voice when she was mentioning the specials because it seems that she was whispering. She was also in a rush processing our payments. What I did not like was when our server placed a new set of cutleries directly unto the surface of the table without a napkin underneath. My concern was how am I sure that the table was sanitized properly?

The worst meal I've eaten in Edmonton sums it up. My girlfriend took me here for Valentines dinner for their first and last time I'll ever visit this restaurant.

I order a Negroni. It comes incredibly sweet. I ask what is in it and they had no Campari so they used Aperol and assumed I wouldn't notice. You HAVE to be kidding me. I immediately asked my date if she'd like to leave but being the gentle, hungry soul she is, we stayed. I had a duck confit (read mush) wonton in broth (tasted like it was direct from a PC box), and my date had a beet salad, probably the easiest thing to make - ever. Some of her beets were cooked through, many weren't, to the point where they were even difficult to cut with the knifed provided. My steak was cooked medium rare not blue as I had indicated and wasn't even cleaned properly with a thick layer of inedible silverskin lining one side. My fritters were decent bar food but certainly not memorable. Dessert was uninspired and pretty much the best thing I ate all evening which is an absolute disgrace to whatever the chef was attempting to do. I can't wait for this restaurant to flop so that something worthwhile will open in its place, it's really a beautiful room.

Our waitress prided herself on the restaurants commitment to sustainability and growing their own produce, having their own bees for in-house honey and such. Is she suggesting the honey they're using has been produced since the restaurant opened in November? Bees don't produce honey or leave the hive in Alberta during the winter, so this is obviously false. I dislike being lied to, and I was lied to several times during my visit to The Workshop Eatery. Spend your money up the street at Izakaya Tomo for a consistently delicious meal, or even buy your groceries at their Save-On down the street; anything you do with the ingredients will be better than what I received at The Workshop Eatery on a $200 bill. Literally the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at in this city, I cannot stress that enough.

Visited for the first time last night. While the vibe and service were good, I was surprised to find the temperature of the food inadequate.

Arancini appetizers came out not even lukewarm, with certain bits slightly lukewarm, appearing as if food were pre-made and re-heated inadequately. It was a shame as the flavors of the dish itself was actually quite good.

Duck duck couscous was literally at room temperature upon arriving at our table. The meat itself was cooked well, however, just a shame it was not even warm. My friend's sablefish came out warmer (at least not room temperature).

Americano that was ordered at the end had zero crema, appearing and tasting like regular drip coffee instead of a proper Americano, and came rather late after more than half of our dessert has been consumed.
Panna cotta itself, however, was good.

Overall had high hopes for this place, and felt like it had good potential, but left disappointed. Really wanted to like it, but for the drive and the price, there are many better options here in Edmonton.

First time here, very pretty inside. Love seeing the veggie beds outside, food was amazing, taste and presentation were top. Coming back soon.

I obviously forgot the name of that first dish, but it was on special and not on the website menu. However, it was one of the tastiest pieces of Cod i’ve ever had. Our group had a whole bevy of small plates. The Arancini (risotto balls) were cooked and tasted perfect, Belly & Butternut had the best taste and flavor with maple braised pork belly. Maple braised anything is pretty good, but on pork belly it’s so good that you bite into it and nod your head in approval and agree it is what’s up. What isn’t up was the Duck Carpaccio as the duck taste was fine but the combination of blood orange vinaigrette and soy reduction didn’t compliment the duck’s gamey flavor. All the large plates our #squad got were so good. Pomegranate Braised Lamb Shank, Duck Duck Couscous, and the Cod were all MVP’s of the meal. However, I read a review online that someone had the steak and it sucked. That person is an idiot. We had the Token Steak Dish rare, and for a baseball cut angus beef sirloin, it was a RUN HOME JACK. All the desserts were also delicious but the winner was the Croissant Bread Pudding that had a certain soigne, congrats, you win an award.

Workshop Eatery is located in this cool Mosaic Centre where apparently it’s a net zero office building so it’s power comes from gerbils running on treadmills. Owner needs to change up the Spotify playlist because the hard rock was ruining the ambiance for some old people, and they also need to change out the wooden barstools cause sitting in them was death, but despite that this place is super cool looking. Although pretty far south, this place is worth the drive. This place was the Steph Curry of restaurants, very high good food percentage. Everything we had was a three point buzzer beater…..clutch.

Sal says: Just Eat It

#food #foodie #foodporn #instafood #delicious #yummy #dinner

The food (deviled eggs & duck duck couscous) and the wine (Argentine Melbec) were excellent. Prices were reasonable given the quality of ingredients. The atmosphere was good - great for casual dining with mid level elegance. The service was slow but pleasant nonetheless.

The Workshop Eatery recently opened in Summerside in a somewhat random area, with the area around it currently still under construction. I actually missed it the first time I drove by! Anyways, going there on a Friday holiday for brunch with a friend, I noticed that the restaurant was fairly empty when we came. Only a few people were seated, and the waitresses seemed fairly relaxed while working.

Service as a whole was good. The waitress was keeping an eye on our table but also not being too overwhelming. Whenever I needed something it was promptly given, and food was served fairly fast.

Onto the food itself, I got the Wakey Wakey Eggs N’ Bacey, which includes two eggs (I chose scrambled), bacon, ham, toast, and potatoes. The eggs were perfect, creamy and melted in the mouth. The bacon, ham, and toast were also well done. Not too overly greasy, and left a satisfying feeling. A (minor) complaint was that the potatoes were burnt, hence weren't the best when I tried them. The ketchup that I got seemed homemade (or at least not the regular Heinz kind), and I really enjoyed how well it went with everything (I even tried it with the toast and it surprisingly went well!). My friend got the Fresh Ground Burger with their chips (yes, they are real chips, not fries) which he told me was a really good choice and that he'd get it again.

One of the few things that might detract me from trying this again is the brunch price (~$17 for both dishes) . I found the price slightly higher for brunch than I expected compared to other places (Ex: Coras, etc). However, I still felt satisfied as I left the restaurant. All in all, I'd love to come back and try some of the other meals like lunch or dinner, and maybe find a dish that I love. Recommended.

Taken as a whole, we had a great dinner at The Workshop Eatery: our dishes were good and the service was attentive. If there's one thing I love about The Workshop Eatery, it's their commitment to sustainability and supporting local producers. Their decision to move into the Mosaic Centre means that the drive to their restaurant is long and far for many patrons, but the principles of the building align with the values of the restaurant. It's great to see so many local farmers mentioned throughout the menu, and I think it will be interesting to see how things shift once the growing season in Edmonton comes around.

Workshop is located in the ‘burbs. Near Ellerslie and Summerside, it might be a turn-off for some people, but I actually think it’s a very smart place to be located, and I think it will serve them well. Good restaurants that open away from the downtown core – they do well and Workshop is a good restaurant!
In this case, there are a bunch of south side neighbourhoods surrounding the spot, plus I’m sure industrial lunch clients will be coming in regularly.

The Workshop Eatery’s rolling doors opened a couple of weeks ago, the deep south Edmonton establishment promising handcrafted seasonal fare without being unapproachable or pretentious. I had a chance to try out brunch earlier on, a delightful way to spend a Saturday and a visit to the new co-working space, The Mosaic Centre.

We live close by and saw that it opened about a week ago, so we decided to stop in! We weren't sure if it was just a lunch place open for all the nearby businesses or if it was an actual dinner place. Turns out they are open for brunch, lunch, and dinner!

We were excited to see all the great reviews online---they were right!!! The restaurant is located in the Mosaic Center, which I'm told is the most environmentally friendly building in Alberta! It's a beautiful restaurant, very clean, modern, and welcoming. The owner, Paul, sat us at our table. It was very nice to see the owner working and interacting with his staff.

For appetizer, we had the home made Cracker Jack popcorn ($7). Ah-mazing. There is honey on it and our waiter told us it was made right in the Mosaic Center!!! There are bee hives in the Center that make honey, which the restaurant incorporates into their dishes. How cool is that!

I had the Alberta Pickerel ($28) and my fiancé had the Steak ($34). First of all, the presentation was amazing. It's clear that the chefs put a lot of effort into the meal. It was fast and hot. The food was unreal. I may just have to say this is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to. My pickerel was done perfectly, and my fiancé LOVED their "tator-tots" that accompanied the steak.

My only regret is that we didn't have room for dessert. The portions were a perfect size and we left full. We will definitely be back. We were highly impressed with our whole experience. Staff was friendly, food was absolutely amazing!

By far, the BEST dining experience I have ever had. The service, the wine pairing, the Beet Salad, the perfectly cooked entree's and a personal visit to our table from Chef Paul Shufelt. Awesome! Highly recommend Workshop Eatery!
