Review Xix Nineteen - Edmonton

There’s a reason they’ve been open a decade! The food is consistently delicious. It’s very pricey but they don’t seem to have issues filling the seats, and you get what you pay for. Perfect spot for a special occasion. You can dress up or go smart casual and you’ll fit in either way. Excellent service as well.

Great place for brunch. Service and food were excellent. However the pancakes were hard and dry. The server was polite and gave us an alternate meal of scrambled eggs, bacon and fruit for free. The special cake with strawberry coulis was fantastic too. Definitely will come back again!

XIX has a fantastic Sunday brunch that we've visited about 5 times over the last year. I really enjoy their happy hour for brunch. The avocado toast is amazing with poached eggs and a side of smoked salmon. The lattes and mimosas are a great addition to your breakfast. Last time we split a cinnamon bun (they are massive!). Definitely make reservations if you are a larger party. We've walked in as two and have been seated quickly.

Got a birthday dinner last night and the food was fantastic! Absolutely amazing with lot of twist and tasty between western and Asian taste. Only thing keep us from 5 stars, we were surprised is 4" cake we bought cost us $30 extra charge for cutting the cake.

Great ambiance, were able to get us in last minute, and were willing to accommodate my request to substitute the pasta sauce due to it containing an ingredient I don't eat (beef). ♥ Dishes shown in photos: GULL VALLEY TOMATO BRUSCHETTA WAGYU BEEF RICOTTA GNOCCHI (sauce substituted) KUROBUTA PORK BELLY & SCALLOPS

Took parents for mother's day and father's day meal. Waiter, Gary, was good. Meals, dessert and drinks were good. Only complaint would be the carrots were too al dente (hard). I had to use my steak knife on them and not on my steak which was perfect.

Second time at this restaurant (first time at this location.) Went for the Pichana steak this time around; first bite I had to sit in silence and Enjoy it. Very impressed by how tender and flavourful this dish was. The bread, greens & fries was a perfect compliment.

Went for dinner with friends, the atmosphere was great and so was the service. We ordered a few dishes to share. For starters we had baked brie, ahi tuna twist and beef tenderloin tataki were all really good. For the mains kurobuta pork belly and scallops and Chimichurri picanha steak. The pork belly was not particularly flavorful however the scallops and the rest of the dish were delicious. The steak had lots of flavor and truffled mashed potatoes were amazing. Desserts did not disappoint. Creme brule, butter cake and bread pudding.

We went to XIX for drinks and appetizers last Saturday as the dining room was booked and were lucky enough to get a booth after a few minute wait. The staff were great ,very accommodating and attentive. We had a half dozen appetizers- the lettuce wraps and short rib tacos were delicious. It was a nice cozy place for drinks and will try it for dinner when we are back in town

Wouldnt really recommend the place to my friends. It is overpriced for the portions they serve. Food was tasty not bad but overpriced. The place they sat me and my boyfriend wasnt exactly where i asked for.

From atmosphere to service to food, Nineteen has been in the spotlight in Edmonton’s food scene for years. Having a highly respected reputation in the fine dining circle in YEG, you don’t come to Nineteen and expect anything less than perfection.

First time visiting their Terwillegar location for an early dinner on a Friday, no reservation so we settled in the lounge. Split directly at the entrance, the lounge and the dining room are separate rooms with a thick curtain acting as a barrier between the two rooms. Hm. The room is dimly lit with tall bar seats mixed with some booths and tables around. A little tight to say the least but you get a very classy vibe.

As we were waiting for a table to clear, we had the chance to sit by the bar to look over the menu and to start some drinks. Deciding on an old fashioned. Presentation was spot on, the attention to detail along with flavor profiling was impressive. The standard drink paired with a rock sugar stick to add a subtle sweetness to each sip.

Lobster Dan Dan Ramen. Not usually a peanut person myself, but reading lobster and ramen I needed to give it a chance, and I am so glad I did. The plate of ramen topped with lobster with a mixture of shiitake mushrooms and pickled vegetables, the broth is added as it hits your table. The broth itself had a beautiful blend of nuttiness and a spicy kick to it. Mixing a bite with a bit of noodles and the pickled vegetables all flavors harmoniously played with the comfort of the traditional Dan Dan flavoring added with a new sweet/sour mix. Immensely satisfied every ounce of taste buds on my tongue.

Black Garlic Scallop, bae’s dish and his verdict was meh- average, nothing special. Plating compared to my dish looked messy and not as clean as expected. Risotto with a mixture of red peppers, tomatoes and lettuce with four pan seared scallops placed on top with dabs of black garlic oil. Scallops were cooked perfectly but from plating to taste, something was lacking. Wouldn’t order again.

Satisfactory dining experience, with some missed opportunities. Though this experience didn’t take any of my love away from Nineteen itself I think I’ll stick to visiting the one in St.Albert.

I came here during happy hour on a Saturday around 3-4 PM. The restaurant was empty and all the cooks were prepping for the rush dinner hour or feeding themselves at the booths. What a perfect time for parents and kids to come enjoy themselves without bothering anyone! Our friends and I got a happy hour menu and got briefed on some specials. We ordered 5 dishes with some similarities between them. I guess that's what happy hour is. Limited ingredients and choices but for a great price! The two noodle dishes were good but cold, wet noodles can be too much sometimes. It was good but I didn't know they'd be that similar. I liked the tuna on one dish and the ahi tuna on the other though :) The flatbread pizza thing was pretty decent. The Quebec duck poutine was also good if you can eat it fast enough. The moules frites (mussels & fries) was really good and I could down that myself easily. I can't write a well-rounded review on this restaurant based on happy hour alone, but I'd say it's a nice place with great service. It's pricey, sure, but I think it'd be worth it at dinner time as well. Next time!

Good restaurant but it can use some improvements. This was my third time for dinner at nineteen, service was excellent but the food was a bit of a let down. I ordered the "signature" tuna twists to start, the noodles had big Asian flavours but overhwlemed the delicate ahi tuna, also they were way too big for a single bite serving. I had the duck 2 ways for my entree, a dish I enjoyed in the past. This evening the confit leg was very dry and the sous vide breast had some chewy unrendered fat, I also thought the grilled bao added nothing to the dish.
I am hesitant to return unless the prices come down and the menu changes significantly.

Came to Nineteen for the first time yesterday on a double date with some friends and I have to say I was beyond happy, from service to food to the beautiful layout of the Resturant. We shared a few appetizers including the ahi tuna twist, short rib risotto, crab cakes, scallops... just to name a few but ALL were amazing. We had a pleasure having Holly as our server and she was amazing. If you haven't tried this gem in the suburbs of the south side, I would really recommend you do!

Just ok. Nothing "blow your mind" amazing like you'd get downtown. Lobster ravioli was good. Crab cakes were just ok. Won't hurry to return. If I do....

It was birthday time and to celebrate I brought my girlfriend back to Nineteen. I haven't been back to Nineteen in well over 2 1/2 years almost, so I thought it was long over due for a visit. I had a reservation luckily and arrived on time, thank god for all the parking spots. The restaurant hasn't changed much from the last time I was there. I really enjoy the open kitchen, the best part is seeing your food being plated and brought straight to your table. They even now have Sparkling Water which is sweet.

Me and my girlfriend were starving so we wasted no time ordering. We got their famous Ahi Tuna Twists and their Spicy Miso Albacore Tuna Tartar to start. I love the presentation of the twists. Taste I wasn't 100% sold on it, the tuna with the cilantro aioli was cream of the crop but I was not fond of the texture of the Thai noodles personally. They were extremely dense and a little chewy. Next was the tuna tartar. This was heavenly, the tuna was chunky yet tender and the combination of a little heat and the miso made for a nice umami feel in the mouth. I just wish it came with some sort of crisp/cracker to put on. My girlfriend got their Duo of Quebec Duck. The Confit duck leg wasn't too salty and fell apart nicely. The duck breast was sous vide so it was tender and moist as it could be but my girlfriend wanted to see more then 2 little slices. The bao was surprising and had a nice pillowy texture to it which had lots of veg stuffed in. Besides some green beans/veg that's about it. I opted for their feature that night which was their Dijon Crusted Halibut with Spaghettini. My fish was cooked/seasoned perfectly and flaked perfectly with a just a touch of my fork. The cream sauce (my memory has slipped me on this) was smooth and mellowed with garlic flavour. However what really grinds my gears is when you're paying almost $40 for a single entree and they give you the tiniest portion of pasta. I probably had less then 2oz of pasta on my plate, I could probably lay out all the noodles. I just wanted more pasta man, pasta is dirt cheap! But then came dessert and that sort of eased me about the lack of pasta. My girlfriend loves lemon flavours so she got their Frozen Lemon Soufflé. It was lemony, but not too acidic or sweet. I got their Warm Butter Cake and that was f**king amazing. Slightly warm cake that almost melted as I sunk my spoon in. If it wasn't already rich enough, they give you bloody ice cream to go with it! Oh man it was just mouthgasm after mouthgasm. Yeah it came with strawberries but nah it's all about the cake. I pretty much inhaled it.

Overall, it was nice coming back to Nineteen. I think this place is still going strong and the location is pretty nice. I wasn't completely blown away this time around but overall, me and my girlfriend still enjoyed our meal. Dinner came out to a shy $170 with tip.

Decided to try this restaurant for my dad's birthday and made a reservation for 6 last Sunday. Was expecting more from a fine dining establishment; our server did not seem too familiar with the beverage offerings and the flavours ranging from the room temperature bread to the meal were not prepared as well as I'd expect at this price point. We worked up an appetite as our main courses took at least 45 mins. to arrive. I ordered the salmon and was told that it is typically prepared to a medium-rare and instead arrived fully cooked. The lobster ravioli serving was extremely small and couldn't detect any lobster filling. All meals also lacked any significant vegetable component. We decided to skip dessert because of the lack lustre appetizers and main course.

If you're into classic cocktails, this place is worth the venture. If you're lucky enough to get Fia as your bartender/mixologist you are in for a treat. She not only knows her rums inside and out but whips one of the best old fashioned's in the city. (Better than cactus, or other high end establishments) treat yourself and try one out.

I had dinner at the restaurant on Oct 2nd. I gave 1 star for this restaurant only because I need to pay $44+ tax for a piece of New York Strip like a chewing gum. I was really disappointed to this restaurant.

I ordered a medium rare New York Strip on that night. The New York Strip that I received was well done with no pink color, and it tasted like chewing gum. When I politely asked the waitress if a medium rare beef should have some pink color on the beef, she told me the chef cooked the beef perfectly, and they would not make any mistake when they cooked the beef. She didn't even take my beef to the a brighter place for a closer look. She simply just ignore my opinion.

After I asked her the question, she didn't even come back once to refill our water. What a "fantastic" server. I am really disappointed to the server. Possibly their food is good at other tables; however the service ruined the reputation of the restaurant. What a shame.

P.S. actually I already posted that on Google review, however I would like the people using zomato to know as well. All in all, they didn't worth that much. It will definitely be one of your worst fine dinning restaurant experience if you insist to go.

Really classy and romantic restaurant, great
For special days or a date. We had the pork belly tacos, beef tataki, and the halibut. I find overall the prices were way too much for what you get foodwise. But i feel you are really paying for just the environment and setting. Super friendly staff, great service and accommodates your evening for your special event.

The beef tataki was higher grade and more tender than what you would get at a Japanese restaurant, but not by much, for 17$ for like 6-8 small slices. The pork belly was the same, it was good. But not the best i ever had, and also 17$ for 3 small tacos which i could easily eat in one bite. The fish, was not bad... But also nothing special, and for 38$. It was very small. Foodwise you are over paying for what you get. But atmosphere was great. At the end we ordered a pizzoka 15$, which was a hand sized cookie. Staff took the liberty of adding chocolate with the wording "happy anniversary" for free, which really impressed my girlfriend. This was a great addition. Overall i was happy with the place, but i wouldnt come here solely for the food, only for that special occasion.

I had heard a lot of good things about XIX Nineteen prior to finally dining there. I liked the idea of how it was started and also the dishes I was seeing people trying looked delicious.

Came for dinner and ordered some of their most popular dishes, ahi tuna twists appetizer and hoisin glazed short ribs. The tuna twists were visually appealing but unfortunately tasted just so-so, not bad but nothing special either. The noodles reminded me of these Sapporo Ichiban Chow Mein packages I used to eat religiously when I was in college - and while those were (and still are) tasty it was odd to make that association with a dish at a nicer restaurant establishment. The hoisin short rib was the same as the appetizer in that when it was brought to the table, it was exactly what I'd want the dish to look like. From the short rib, to the crispy onion rings, to the glistening sauce - it was picture perfect. With that said, the dish flavor wise was once again so-so. The onion rings weren't quite anything special, not seasoned (at least not that I could tell) and when actually eating the dish I realized that while it sounded good i'd rather a nice silky smooth mashed potato side instead. The contrast of eating the crunchy onion ring with the tender short rib didn't go well together. The sauce was not as rich and sweet as I was hoping it would be based on the hoisin description. The vegetable component of the dish was three carrots and they were non-inspiring and closer to the raw/hard side than cooked/steamed which wasn't that pleasant to eat either. I did try the warm butter cake for dessert and that was probably the highlight of the whole evening. A warm cake served with a scoop of ice cream - you can't really get that wrong and they didn't. My overall thoughts on XIX Nineteen were that they have good ideas on paper, and their food presentation is among the top in Edmonton (imo) however the aspect that means the most to me personally - taste - was missing the mark throughout the night.

We were a group of four and we advised them that we were on a time crunch. All 4 dishes minus the duck as it would take too long came out promptly. Friendly female bar tender and servers. My absolute favourite was the ahi tuna twists literally a different twist on ahi tuna as it usually comes as a ahi tuna taco at other establishments. The mussels had a good cream sauce and the clams were great as well. Our friend ordered the Mongolian beef bowl which I did not try but looked good as well. We were from out of town so this is now checked off on our bucket list!

It's been a long time coming!
Finally got a chance to go to this trendy spot on the west end.
Very happy!
Went for pur anniversary dinner. 2 appatizers, 2 mains, 3 drinks, 1 dessert and 2 coffee came to ~$190.
On par with similarly classified establishments.
The flavours were amazing. The presentation was on point. Serving sizes were fair. Service was top notch. They made a point if asking if it was a special occasion and we fessed up.
As such, our dessert arrived with an amazing "Happy Anniversary" chocolate piece. Very nice touch. It can be seen in my pictures.

Price point will keep the likes of me from eating here as often as my tastebuds would like...but another trip will happen...
Someday.

Exceptional flavours. Nice variety. Well prepared and presented. Food is rich and delicious. Another great Edmonton restaurant. I ordered the Pork Belly "Fung Bun", the California Salad, and the short ribs. Alsohad desert . Portions were reasonable, especially for a gourmet restaurant. It was a higher priced dinner to be sure. Including expensive wine and tip, the bill for a group of 5 was $641.00.

Had a wonderful meal here in the lounge. The truffle peorogies were a lovely mix of flavours and the crème brûlée was was the perfect balance between creamy and sweet

The food is delicious! The service was unbelievably, the fasted by far. We were shocked when our dishes showed up piping hot not more than 15 minutes after we ordered them. The mix of flavours and the options are fabulous. We will Def come back to this place again.

Have eaten here a few times for special occasions. Have enjoyed the meal and service . Great quality in both. Very good selection. Definitely recommend for a nice evening out.

Food is good, but price is too expensive. Food should be exceptional for what they charge. Service is good as well and ambience is nice and quiet.
Would come back if it wasn't too expensive.

A couple of weeks ago, I finally had the chance to go to XIX. I don’t have many occasions where I have to go to the south side of Edmonton, and what with the new St. Albert location of XIX opening up, I thought it was finally time to give it a try. It’s located right off of Rabbit Hill Road south of Edmonton. It has an ample amount of parking. This restaurant reminds me a bit of Hardware Grill because of their interior, menu option, and price point. The kitchen has a huge window so that everything in visible, which is something I always enjoy. We came right before the dinner rush, so it wasn’t too bad. I recommend making reservations because it can get a little bit busy there!

First of all, the hostess & the server were outstanding. The service was second to none. However, extremely salty butter with the starter bread; the butter was drenched with salt, we were crutching down on granules. Both meals, one meal was short ribs & fried onion rings (KofC style, not classy) and chicken truffle linguine were very salty & fatty lacking multiple flavors. Not impressed with taste/flavors. Would not recommend restaurant.

Great food.
Great ambiance.
Great service.

Great wine selection.
On the pricier side but you do pay for absolute deliciousness !!

Will get loud since families go there.

Had to start with the world famous (okay that might be a stretch but they are SOOOOOO GOOD) Ahi Tuna Twists. Next up was the Pan Roasted Sriracha Octopus with Chorizo. Our son loves anything and everything with Sriracha on it so we knew he would want to try this. This was the first time we had tried this (and our first time trying a grilled octopus preparation). The octopus was tender and not chewy at all. Very good!

Went with my parents to the lounge about a month ago and had a salad off the bar menu. It was delicious but the portion was way too small and I was still hungry.

We came here for my birthday and I am not completely sure we would return. The serving staff did take excellent care of us however portion sizes are tiny and I found overall the menu is over priced. I would probably be just as satisfied eating at the keg or earls. No complaints about the food though as everything was quite tasty.

We had an amazing night. First, the service was tremendous. Our waitress identified it was a special night for us and paced the meal perfectly. It was relaxed but we never waited. The appetizer choice was difficult as we wanted every one. We ended up going with the crab cakes and bacon wrapped scallops. Enjoyed both. The same issue of difficult choices for the mains. The pork tenderloin was good but a very small serving size and a bit overdone. However the beef tenderloin was perfectly done and spiced with a little mustard seed. Absolutely delicious. A simple but tasty creme brûlée for dessert finished the evening nicely. Highly recommended and we will return.

Over priced, but mostly great food.. The food we ordered was definitely very tasty and cooked perfect. Unfortunately, I had to calm myself when the appetizers arrived. For 6 of us I figured 2 appetizers would be sufficient, except that one $17 appetizer is only good for one person, literally. You don't get much for a $42 8oz New York steak, but it was done perfect and was very tasty. It's not somewhere I'd go for a quiet date. our server seemed knowledgable but very rushed.

So before I say how much I love this place I have to start with a bit of a disclaimer...is food is the bomb! Some of my favorite bites have been at XIX. It's a beautiful restaurant with a lovely ambiance and I love being able to see through the window into the kitchen. But, my favorite part is their lovely patio in the summer.

Ridiculously Fantastic!. We went to XIX Nineteen last night for a special evening out. I had wanted to try XIX Nineteen for a while but the choice was made all the more easy as they are open Sunday evening, when many of the nicer restaurants are not. My guests ordered the Green Curry Mussels, the Lamb Osso Bucco and the Truffle Chicken Gemelli, all of which were delicious and beautifully presented, but we all agreed that I "won" -- that my meal was the best of all. I had the Imperial Black Coffee-Infused Beef Tenderloin. I cannot remember ever having a more flavourful or tender steak. I was actually sad when it was finished.

Our server was very patient in explaining the choices available for a gluten-free diet and what could be changed out to make a dish acceptable for gluten-free requirements. When we complimented her on the Tenderloin she explained that it was due in part to the sous vide manner of cooking it and briefly explained the process. As a bit of a foodie I knew about this type of cooking but my guests did not and were intrigued by her explanation. In that respect, we also appreciated sitting next to the window to the kitchen and having that view of the action.

(I also appreciated that our excellent server, Sarah, expressed her appreciation for the tip that was left for her. It just feels good to be appreciated and thanked.)

Although we passed on dessert we didn't pass on their unique cocktails and each had something different, innovative and also delicious. Very happy that we chose XIX Nineteen for our special night out.

Will dine again. Had to make reservations a few days in advance as this place gets busy.. Got a seat close to the kitchen which is neat cause they have a window which you can see the chefs cooking.. There beer selection is decent with some craft beers.. We ordered our apps,, BEEF SHORT RIBS WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO..GRILLED ROMAINE SALAD.. Both were wonderful.. The beef was tender and had flavor.. I could have eaten a full order of the short ribs with risotto.. They also split the salad into 2 dishes for us.. The apps portions were very good.. For dinner we ordered the duck leg and beef short ribs.. I love my wild meet and this duck was right up my ally.. I love meat that still has the bone on it., you know it's real.. It was tender and had lots of flavor.. The ribs were very sweet and not for me.. My other half enjoyed it though.. Very large portions.. The staff was very attentive.. We will return

XIX Nineteen. Extremely noisy despite asking for a quiet spot. We suggested maybe in the lounge would be quieter. They said no, where they were seating us would be quiet. Not so. No conversation was possible.
The food was okay, certainly not outstanding.
Would definitely not return.

Excellent experience. Went to nineteen for valentines day. Service was phenomenal Evan considering how busy it was. Shared the mussels as an appy which were very good. Girflriend had the lobster ravioli and I had the steak, everything cooked was on point. Will definitely be back 5/5
Hungary For Food
Served Leftovers?. Wagyu beef cheeks were good but not great.

Pork belly - the fat was melt in your mouth good, but overall it could have been broiled a bit longer to give it more crispiness on the meat. As it was, the glazed portion would stubbornly stick to your teeth. The presentation was not at all like the photo here on Urbanspoon with three separate servings, but instead we only got 2 pieces more or less stacked on top of each other.

Osso Bucco was dry and bland save for the dijon mustard crust. Could have used a lot more lamb reduction on the plate. The lamb was probably left over from a previous night.

Short rib - the flavour was there, but the meat itself was dry, as if the fat had been cooked away. Leftovers perhaps?

Duck - Again on the dry side, but probably the best of the 3 entrees (faint praise).

Butter cake was very good, no complaints. Didn't look as well put together as the one in the photo on Urbanspoon.

Service was sub-par - a little slow, a little inattentive. Not terrible by any stretch, just not up to the quality that I expected for a restaurant like this.

But then again, that kind of sums up the whole experience. Nothing was quite as good as expected. For the dollar, you can get MUCH better meals and service elsewhere. I would like to give this place another shot, but I won't because I'd feel like an idiot if I spent another few hundred on this place and were disappointed again.

Very disjointed. My boyfriend and I had our Valentines dinner last night at Nineteen. We heard great reviews about the chef and were very curious about this Italian Asian infusion. We are big foodies and eat at different restaurants every other weekend. We're also mildly obsessed with all the cooking shows on the food Chanel. Needless to say we know our stuff, and we're always willing to give anything a try!

Unfortunately this blend fell short and I found the menu items to be very disjointed. Instead of seeing this neat blend between two cultures it was very separate, we found ourselves torn between wanting an asain dinner or an Italian dinner. If that was the case we would have went to Curso, or my favorite Thai place.

The appetizers were more asain focused and the entrees were Italian so that made it tough. We decided to try both and take our palettes for an adventure.

Appetizers
Ahi Tuna Twists - 10/10 presentation and flavours were exquisite

Beef tatami - 8 on presentation (would have been nice for the beef to be the focus not the eggs) and 6 on flavour (the onions and acidity in the sauce really over powered everything else)

Main
Shrimp carbonara- 4.5 all around the presentation really fell short it just looked as if the ingredients were thrown on the plate, barely any shrimp and omg way to much bacon!!! That's all you could taste.... Very disappointed with this plate.

Spicy Italian flatbread - 10/10 amazing tomato sauce and could have used more toppings though after we grabbed all the best looking pieces we were left with bread and tomatoe sauce lol this was supposed to come out with our pasta dish to so we could try it together but we all know things happen in the kitchen and I will never rate my reviews off that.

Service was great, wine was great (we had the house Pinot noir) atmosphere was great!

Overall very great attempt I just feel the execution wasn't there. I'm not sure if I'll try blended restaurant again, if I'm in the mood for one or the other I rather go to a restaurant that really knows how to cook that cultures food!

Best in Edmonton-hands down. We have tried every new restaurant in Edmonton, and all the old and nothing compares to Nineteen. The flavors are incredible, and I have yet to have anything I didn't like off the menu...and I have tried almost everything! Best mussels in the city, hands down- the escargot is unlike anything I've had and all the mains (beef short ribs especially!) are amazing. Well done and thanks for making such amazing food- huge compliments to the chef!

Over Rated. We were so excited to go here for my birthday. We heard it was an excellent fine dining restaurant, and we wouldn't be disappointed. We heard wrong.
Food was just okay. The plates lacked originality (nothing special about the mac and cheese or the tenderloin) and some plates needed more seasoning. Portion size was alright, our appetizers were pretty small. Drinks were just okay, and over priced. Service was almost non existent.
I wrote on twitter to a popular blog that it wasn't what they said it would be and the restaurant was upset and extremely apologetic to the author of the blog. When they realized it wasn't the author of the blog that had the issue but me, they simply said "oh". Guess our opinion doesn't matter, which is great for us since we won't be back.

Great food but overpriced. My husband and I went to this restaurant tonight for a date night. The service was Ok but the server never came back while we were eating to check how things were so far, same with our dessert round. Food was good but with so much competition in Edmonton these days, it was overpriced for what it really was. Would go back again but definitely not on the top of my list.
Chubby Chicken
Very Nice...But Overpriced. Nineteen impressed. The décor was very nice and the service was excellent. The food was also very good. I had the lamb shank which was huge, but also very tasty with an excellent sauce. My wife had the duo of duck which was even better. We also indulged in desert, their signature butter cake, which was just okay, probably not worth the price. The appetizer was good though, bacon wrapped scallops, but the highlight of that dish was not the scallops themselves but the garnish around them. I was also amazed the speed in which they delivered such high quality food (I'm sure it helped we went before the dinner rush). All in all a good night out but the one drawback is the price. There are several upscale restaurants in the city where you could get an equivalent quality meal at five to ten dollars less per entrée.

A great experience!. Awesome food and service with a creative menu and knowledgeable staff. Wasn't excessively loud and was priced the same as every restaurant of this size and quality. I had a bottle of wine, appetizer, 2 entrées, and dessert for $120. That's not unreasonable.

Fine dining it truly is. We had a wonderful dinner last evening at your restaurant. The service was excellent as was the meal. At first we found the noise level a bit loud but as the evening wore on we found it got better.

Potential for better. The menu, the ambiance and the location was great. The food could be great, our starter and salad were wonderful and creative. The main meal however was well presented and good for two bites but then the salt kicked in and it was way too much salt, over powered the dish.

Short Ribs - Fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicately prepared Short Ribs that were adorned with artfully and tasty deep fried Onion Rings and impeccably prepared carrot tubers. The Service was superb. Our waitress was so polite, thoughtful and knowledgeable on all menu items.

What a wonderful dinner and pleasure it was. Thank you so very much to XIX.

Excellent Saturday dinner. Our first experience at xix nineteen was nothing short of spectacular. The dining room is tastefully decorated with open kitchen concept, an overall warmth is felt throughout. Our server was kind and attentitive, providing a description of chef Andrew Fung's signature dishes as well as some of her favorites.
We ordered the escargot with curry cream sauce, bacon wrapped scallops and California salad with seared ahi tuna for appies; all were plated well and had unique bold flavours leaving a great first impression. Our entrees were yet again beautifully plated and cooked to perfection, the lamb was a perfect medium rare and was undoubtedly the star of the dish; very enjoyable. I had the opportunity to taste each dish at our table and was not let down, the halibut with curry cream sauce was very good, although I'd rather see a different starch to accompany it rather than the spaghettini it came with. For dessert I oredered a b52 coffee and chocolate terrine; which was easily one of the best I've ever eaten. The richness of the dense chocolate went well with the light vanilla ice cream and pop rocks; which were a unique touch for the last course.
Overall 9/10. The service and food were excellent and we will definitely be back.
expect to spend ~$100/person for 3 courses with drinks

Lovely lunch!. Love this gem of a restaurant! Lunch was fabulous and the service outstanding.

Halibut. The crusted halibut was flavourful, light and excellent. Accompanied with a glass of white made the meal complete.
Rob
Garbage service. Less than average food. Way over priced.

I cannot believe how the food has deteriorated since the opening. Popularity has bred mediocracy.

So Many Reasons To Go Back. My experience tonight at XIX Nineteen was hands-down the best experience I've had dining in the city. Tonight was the first night with the new spring/summer menu, and it did not disappoint! The menu is innovative, trendy and thoughtful (including the cocktail menu). Chef Fung is doing an amazing job with the kitchen, throughout all the dishes we ordered everything was impeccably well cooked, and the flavour were all well balanced. The scallop appetizer was a particular favourite at our table, and arguably the best cooked scallop we had ever encountered. The attention to detail in the food was matched with the service. Our server, Lindsay was friendly and professional, and the manager Nicole came to check in multiple times as well. We did have a slight miscommunication about one of the dishes ordered, and they immediately offered to fire a new dish. It was the smoothest and most professional ordeal I have ever encountered. On both food and service XIX Nineteen has set the bar high! We will definitely be back and would certainly recommend this restaurant without any hesitation!

Took my wife here for our anniversary and we're very impressed. The service was excellent and knowledgeable. The foie gras torchon and scallop appetizer were outstanding as was the lamb my wife had and the bone in strip loin for me. Will be back soon with more people!!

Great food. The ginger beef was amazing and the mussels and fries were absolutely delicious. Mediocre service.

Will be back again. My wife and I went here for a date night away from the baby. The place didn't disappoint. We had three appetizers, one salad, and an entree to share.

The tenderloin tataki was fine to near perfection, with many layers of flavor to quench the palate. Excellent dish, though I would make the ponzu sauce a little less sour. The crab cake was also awesome, being extremely smooth crab meat. It tasted very nice with the avocado. Lastly, the foie gras was a perfect match of ingredients too, very enjoyable.

The salad wasn't anything to write home about, so I'll skip that. The entree we had was the Chilean sea bass. I have quite high expectations for such a fish. This dish, unfortunately didn't meet up to my expectations. While the fish was prepared superbly, as were the accompanying vegetables, the choice of main flavor didn't suit me very well. The sun dried tomatoes weren't able to bring out the fish's flavor. I think a citrus type of sauce would have been better.

Overall, the meal was excellent though and I definitely will come back. I do hope for since improvements the next time around as the chef obviously has some culinary skills that just need to suit the audience accordingly.

Ate there last night. The Halibut was great. Service was friendly and prompt. I will go back next time in Edmonton.

Another nice evening. Good value, good service good food and drink. Really nice night.

Horrible!!! We had a celeb.... Horrible!!!
We had a celebration to commemorate the end of girls hockey.

Chicken was tasteless, vegetables were disgusting, only good part of this dinner was the salad and dessert. Very pricey, 18% gratuity added and I could have made a better dinner at home, very disappointed

Our Night at XIX. I went to XIX just the other day with a large group, and the food was delicious. I tried the Ahi Tuna Twists, and although pricey; were delicious and worth coming back for. Our server was very helpful and let us take our time at the table.
One downside to the night was when I noticed one of the hostess' being dressed down by a tall blond woman (perhaps in a position of power?), I was disappointed that a professional environment such a XIX would permit this woman to bring the young lady to tears.

First time visiting XIX restaurant with my wife, food was outstanding, my wife had the Foie Gras with pickled pear and fig jam appetizer which was a definite hit, I had the Albacore Tuna Confit Nori which was incredibly delicious as we moved on to main course our Server was attentive and friendly. Our mains were so amazing both the Tenderloin and the braised short ribs literally melted in our mouths like butter, Dessert was equally delectable. As a food connoisseur of fine dining this was at the top of my list, We will definitely be coming back, Thank you to our waiter Jason and the amazing Chef at XIX for an ultimate dining experience.

I would like to start off by saying I'm
very confused after eating at this restaurant. I see where this place it trying to go with it's Asian fusion, but make up your mind. Too many flavors on one plate that don't really go together. I had the spare rib for dinner and my mouth was confused... A hoisin braised short rib, with onion rings and bearnaise sauce served with "heirloom" carrots?! Asian, American and French all rolled into one! A very odd mix of flavors that didn't go together at all.
H
A Great Place. The hostess was very friendly and professional. Our server was attentive, was at the table with water and coffee without being asked and had great table maintenance. The manager came by to ask us about our meal. The ahi tuna with spicy noodles and short ribs was outstanding.

Amazing Service. The service at XIX is underrated. Our server was spot on and of course the food was excellent as always. What surprised us the most was the service from the pretty asian hostess at the front. A table beside us was unhappy with their location and although the restaurant was busy the hostess moved them to a bigger table. At the end of the dinner she helped my mother in law (quite elderly) all the way to the car in the cold! Little details like that is what will make XIX survive.

@ Stephen you're the reason I read urban spoon reviews like its a book, laughing so hard.

The decor is nice. Food was excellent! And service was great as well. We tried both tuna appetizers, the muscles and the foie gras and they were all delicious.
For entrees I had the sambuka prawn linguini, it was good as well but is on the pricy end. Other people in our party had ordered the truffle chicken pasta and the short ribs. I had a sample of each and thought that the truffle chicken was good and short ribs just decent. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and will I definitely be going back!

Special??. Great SW neighborhood restaurant...special occasion or a mid week dine out. We've been on a few occasions, as well as our parents and friends. It seems like "sea bass" is coincidentally always the special of the night :) nonetheless, service is good, and the food is delicious. I do agree that past reviews that some items my not be well thought out, like the popular ahi tuna twist - the noodles are so heavily dressed that it completely overwhelms the delicately seared tuna. I actually take the tuna off and eat that separately to enjoy it :)

I'm not sure if it is the layout of the place or done on purpose, but the restaurant side got louder and louder as the night progressed. So if you are looking for a quiet romantic dine out be warned. However great if hanging out with a group of pals and don't have to feel awkward shoting and laughing :)

Julie. Went there last night, and loved it!!! Had the short ribs and my husband had the steak. The food was perfect. My short ribs were so tender they actually kept sliding off my fork. Very impressed, the service is excellent as well. We ordered a beer with our Tuna appetizer (which was fabulous) and then wine with dinner. They let us finish our drinks without rushing in time for the main course.
Stephano
Great big group experience!!
Jason our server was very attentive and the FOOD WAS DELISIOUS!!!!!

Ordered the Herb Crusted Dijon Halibut. Looked great but
the Dijon over powered all other flavours, and I like Dijon. Wouldn't order again.

Went here with my husband for dinner. First off, don't sit in the restaurant if you plan on talking to each other. We luckily read the reviews about how loud it is, the lounge was quieter so we sat in there. Friendly staff, food was quick. The scallops (appetizer) was alright. Hubby ordered the braised short ribs which were fantastic. I ordered the chicken Mac and cheese. Chicken was very moist and tasty, Mac and cheese was pretty bland. Had the apple cinnamon tart for dessert which was prob my favorite part of the meal. Overall a good restaurant, but the price of the food is a bit over exaggerated for the quality and quantity.
Leah
Family dinner. We were vastly disappointed with our dinner at XiIX. The acoustics were terrible -it was so noisy we could not hear each other across the table. The food was only ok and at this price point, we would expect stellar. The "signature" halibut dish was so dry, it was not finished. The price of the wine was extremely inflated. We will not go back.
EdmontonDiner2013
I never write online reviews for restaurants but had to make an exception in this case. My wife and I dine out twice per week in Edmonton, and our bill is often $100-200 without liqueur. I'm a very easy to please diner. This restaurant is TERRIBLE. I cannot believe that they charge similar prices to Corso32, Canteen, Red Ox Inn etc, when their food quality is sub-Moxies/Earls. If you're willing to spend over $100 on a meal on Edmonton, you have WAY better options (Hardware Grill, Characters, etc etc). Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. With food this bad at this inflated price, XIX Nineteen will not be around for long.
Canelamaia
Excellent food, service, and ambience. Best of all is the good portions in each course!
A Second On The Lips
Fantastic service and amazing food. The guys at XIX clearly pride themselves on quality. The food was delicious from the Ahi Tuna twist starter to the dessert and coffees at the end.

After a few bites into her Halibut entree, my girlfriend asked for her fish to be taken back and cooked a bit more. The manager explained that Chef cooked his halibut in this light manner due to the freshness of the fish, but was happy to have the meal replaced according to my friend's wishes.

I asked if they could hold my (fall off the bone tender) beef Shortribs under a warmer so I didn't have to wait on a cold meal while my friends meal was bring re-done.

Clearly, re-warmed meals will not do for Chef Fung. I was served an entire new meal...unexpected but very appreciated.

We enjoyed the wonderfu wine menu, fantastic dessert selection and excellent cappuccinos as well.

The cherry on the top?
A recyclable little black bag to take home my left-overs.

This kind of distinctive marriage of great food and service has become almost obsolete these days.
XIX is a most welcome addition to the Edmonton restaurant scene.
Natasha
Lol at Stephens review! How lame that you would tell that as a review, obviously you had other issues that wasn't the reason she left your ass. I would leave you too lol

Nothing special. First time at the place, we thought it would be an intimate restaurant...but it was VERY load and quite smelly/smoky. We ordered the scallops (quite good), the linguini (fine) and the lamb (OKish). The dessert, the creme brulee, was very disapointing...we told the waiter, he did not even said "sorry you did not like it". For the $, you will get much more at many other places.

Went to XIX for the first time to celebrate a new job. After needing to book 3 weeks in advance, was expecting something spectacular. The atmosphere is nice but very loud. I like the Hell's Kitchen type view into the kitchen.
On the food, we shared scallops for appetizers, which were delicious, but slightly undercooked (better than rubber!) then I had the herb crusted sea bass which was the feature. This was great, I'd recommend to anyone. My wife had the lamb, which also had great flavour. The negative: the lamb came with gnocchi and it was burnt. When we told the server this, he said that the portobello mushrooms tend to have that flavour and offered to bring her something different, which confused us as we were sending back the gnocchi??? Nothing was done about it, not even an honourable mention to the chef. Would we go back? Not right away.
Chrispy
Fantastic!. We loved XIX. The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely perfect.
And that extra mile does not go un-noticed...! When the server knew we were sharing all of our plates she told the kitchen and they divided the dishes between 2 plates! even the salad! Excellent scallops, tomato salad, ahi tuna, and arctic char.
We will go back again for sure. Although its pricey we felt we got our money's worth in every bite.
Stephen
I took my ex fiancé here last Saturday after I had just proposed, we had just got back from our trip to San Diego where I had proposed to her. We came to the restaurant at about 6:30, it was after the waiter had brought out our food, that's where things started to go down hill. We fought about how dry the linguini was. Which I found pathetic, but still I was engaged to the women. After fighting for approximately 15 minutes, she got up slapped the Jean Schulumberg ring I had brought her and left. This restaurant brings too many un pleasing things to people.

Yum. Refreshing to see a chef with a little respect for sea food. I have eaten here a few times and it has always been good. Well seasoned and well plated, it has a great vibe late night. I have had issues before with showing up before the posted closing time and XIX is closed.... but I think its one of the places to eat on the side of the city, do not waste the gas going downtown when theres great dinning close to home

Absolutely the best halibut dish I've had in my life. Fantastic service. Awesome food. And reasonably priced. Can't rave enough about it.

Turn down the noise!. Much has been written about dining establishments that forgot about the 'dining' in their description. What is it about the trend to loud music in restaurants that leaves patrons shouting to be heard?
April 20th was my first dining experience here, and probably my last. My first clue should have been the large flat screens in the adjacent lounge, and not enough separation between it and the dining room. A large ( and noisy) party of about 10 was another cue. Food was OK, but not new and innovative, and the wine list, sadly, was the usual New World choices, with a few Old World wines thrown-in. The one Bordeaux was a poor vintage, showing badly, and overpriced. Enough said. This is a restaurant for the suburbanites who do not care to venture too far from home...sad really. It could have been an intimate place, to have a great meal, get away for a 'date night' , without resorting to a chain restaurant. Perhaps in time.....

Went here for dinner with a couple of friends a few nights ago. It was my first time trying out this place. The atmosphere was nice, I love the open kitchen concept. The food was creative and amazing. The sever could have been more prompt and attentive.

Mediocre food, okay service, and high prices. 5/10. Will not return.

Nice but in danger of becoming one of those typical Edmonton restaurants. XIX Nineteen - The food is excellent, great quality and very well prepared and presented. The dining room is very pleasant with views into the kitchen. The venue is one of those Keg/Moxies/Joey's bar/restaurant places with big TV screens playing hockey!!! Not what I expected, I was more expecting a proper restaurant. It's a shame that they have taken this restaurant bar style, the atmosphere then is very bar like with loud noise coming from the bar area punters watching hockey. The food is of good quality that should be served in a proper restaurant. XIX is in danger of becoming one of those old familiar places where the toss up will be the Keg or XIX and why should I pay a bit extra for a lounge bar restaurant when there is so many more to choose from. My advice would be get rid of the redneck bar attitude and fill a restaurant with people there for great food not hockey!

No True Cocktail Bar. When you have to google the recipies of classic cocktails and switch out ingredients for lack of stock, something is wrong...

Delicious!. I really enjoyed the atomsphere at XIX. They have some very unique dishes. The Ahi Tuna twists were delicious and something very different. We were surprised when ordered the duck slider as an appetizer that it was only one slider.

For the entree I had the duck confit which was packed with flavour and the sides were a nice match. I would highly recommend trying this entree.

For dessert we had the molten lava cake and apple tart and I found both were okay. I have had much better molten lava cake and apple tarts at other restaurants.

I would definately go back to try more of the dishes!
Steph
This was a fabulous restaurant. The atmosphere, service and food were great! I had left overs after and took it home; later my husband enjoyed it (cold, I should mention) and exclaimed that it was delicious. I'm also excited that they change up their menu frequently, I hope to be back again in the future.

My boyfriend and I finally ate at XIX last night and had an incredible meal. Service (Jason took care of us), cocktails, wine and all 3 courses were nothing short of perfect.
We sat at a booth which was at the window to the kitchen... very cool. We got to watch a very calm and organized culinary team.
We had the pork belly and scallops to start which we're flavorful and unique. The Lamb Shank (huge) and Crab Crusted Grouper as mains and neither of us could decide which was better. We finished with the Cheese Cake which was light and fresh with the Cheese Plate. Both were a perfect size to share.
All in all it was worth both the time and money. I felt like portion sizes and quality were a huge step above the competition.
We will be back and will recommend it to friends!
Thanks XIX!!!!!!

This was my first time going to nineteen. The server was not very friendly right off the bat. She didn't bring side plates for our appetizer (ahi tuna twists) which we made clear we were sharing. We all had to eat off of one plate! They were delicious though. We then ordered our entrees and waited for 45 MINUTES. When I started getting fed up and asked our server how long our food was going to be she replied "not long, they want to make sure everything comes out at the same time". Well thank you captain obvious, I would assume at such an upscale restaurant the food will come out at the same time. After she assured us it would be coming out soon, we still waited 15 minutes. Not once did she apologize or offer to send over the manager. I have a feeling she forgot to ring in our food. I'm a server, and I think admitting your mistakes to a table will be more easily forgiven than ignoring them! The food was amazing, but I'll be reluctant to go back and pay those prices when the service was ABSOLUTE CRAP.
Katey
They didn't have garlic toast! What a joke. No ice in my glass of water either. Kind of pretentious for what it actually is.... The food was alright though.

Nice atmosphere, beautifully decorated to go with a delicious meal. The mushroom soup was awesome as well the Caesar salad ( ask for light dressing). The servers are excellently attentive, on par with any restaurant in Edmonton (we had Caitlyn in the lounge). Andrew Fung brings the best items from his Blackhawk menu (short rib beef dip) plus new exciting items. The food is truly inspired and you owe it to your tastebuds to experience his mastery.

Just had the most amazing meal! From appetizer to dessert! Appetizer was fast and cooked perfectly (Sambuca Prawns) with a fabulous garlic spice. Mains were quick to follow. The catch of the day was an incredible miso sable fish with a mushroom pasta w/ asparagus! Cooked to perfection!! The lamb was falling off the bone, tender and tasty. Portions were a great size! Dessert didn't let us down either. The creme brûlée was fantastic; and the chocolate lave cake was the perfect amount of sweetness! Great experience!! Will return

Great Sunday Night Dinner. Last night me and my husband decided to give this newer restaurant a shot. Were we glad we did! We were greeted by two happy girls who took our jackets and escorted us to our seats. Once settled our server Sidney introduced her self, as well as the restaurant and encouraged us to approach her with any questions. We were impressed with the knowledge our server had as well as the attention to detail! We started off with the tuna twists and scallops are server recommended when we showed and interest in seafood dishes. For our mains we had the lamb and the server recommended catch of the day which was a Chilean sea bass. We finished our meal with the sour cream cheesecake and warm apple tart. We had heard this was a more expensive restaurant, but honestly it was inexpensive for the quality and flavor of the food as well as the service.

Overall, our experience was great. We felt comfortable and welcomed by the staff, the food was unlike anything in Edmonton! Could not be more pleased with the service and quality of food! We will be back, thank you for the great night!

Excellent. Great service, great food. Had escargot, lamb shank osso buco, and braised short rib. All excellent.
Miss
Expensive but yummy. Nothing jumped out from entree menu so we (husband) and I did 6 appetizers, salad and a dessert. Favorites of the night; tuna Napoleon, pork belly and the apple tart! I would pass on the chicken confit waffle and the duck slider. Cool atmosphere, a bit loud but fun. Service was ok but not amazing and we were rushed to leave for another table even though we had reservations.

Worth the review. I have been out to XIX Nineteen three times now and have never been disappointed; tonight was no exception to this. The past two times my Fiancé and I choose to have a more romantic evening so we opted to eat in the Dining Room. Both times our servers were very well educated with both the food and the wine. We love our wine so last time we were there we thought it would be a great idea to ask our server to recommend a wine to us after we choose our meal. We were beyond impressed when the server actually taught us a thing or two about wine. I was having the Hosin Glazed Alberta Beef Short ribs and my Fiancé was having the Osso Bucco Lamb Shank. Our server recommended a bigger bolder wine to go with our meals; she said that it would complement our dinners very nicely. She had suggested a nice Luca Malbec, I prefer a nice Shiraz, but thought I would trust her judgment. I was glad I did because everything about that wine made me into a believer. It was nice and smooth yet bold enough to cut through the marbling of the dishes. Now enough about the last visit, tonight a girl friend and I decided to have a more casual evening in the lounge. It was extremely busy when we got there with no tables available. We asked the lovely hostess if the wait would be long and she told us that tables are all turning at different times and she would put us on a waiting list for the lounge. That really impressed me; no other restaurant would let you go on a lounge waiting list. There were two other parties ahead of us, so we thought it would be quite some time before we got in. I would say we waited a total of five minutes before being seated at a comfortable booth in the corner of the lounge. I really enjoyed this table because you can see the whole lounge (I like to people watch). For drinks my guest decided to go with a lovely house Sav Blanc that was $15/ 9oz, I choose to go for a nice red from their Enomatic machine. My wine was a bit more, coming in at $24/ 9 oz. As I said, I know my wine and that is a steal of a deal. The Enomatic machine is such a great concept, I wont go into much detail, but you get a chance to try expensive wines by the glass!!! Awesome right? For dinner my friend and I decided that we would share some appetizers; we had the Calamari, which was crispy, cooked perfectly and not over breaded. With hot peppers topping this dish and a nicely warmed tomato sauce for dipping this dish was wonderfully thought out and prepared. The next thing we had was the Ginger Beef and let me tell you WOW!!! I think that Ginger Beef has been redefined and perfected here. It is not the dried up hard beef you come to expect with the dish. Instead it tasted like breaded tenderloin. The sauce perfectly compliments the beef and is by no way overpowering. Finally we decided to try the Szechuan Beans, they were delish, just the right amount of crunchiness and spiciness. For dessert we decided to share the Chocolate Lava cake, it was a perfect combination of warmed chocolate and cold vanilla ice cream. I suggest taking part of the lava cake with part of the ice cream. Our lounge server, in my mind, was awesome. She was attentive without being annoying, she was very knowledgeable and knew how to multitask very well. She greeted us with a warm genuine smile and actually cared how our night went. Though my experience all the staff at XIX seems to show pride in the place they work that says something about a restaurant. One thing that I had the opportunity to experience is the General Manager Nicole and the Chef Andrew came out to introduce themselves and inquire how our night was. WOW that made us feel pretty special (we weren’t the only ones they did that to, but hey they took time our of the busy night to come say hi). I’m going to stop writing because I could go on and on. All in all great job guys, its nice to have you in the neighborhood!!!

One of the best meals I have enjoyed in a long time, and I eat out quite often for business.
The curry escargot appetizer is so flavourful, you will want to lick the bowl. The salmon was amazing, with a blend of tastes that don't seem like they should belong together, but definitely do.

The service was attentive and cheerful. We will be back.

Did NOT like this place. The atmosphere looked nice, clean, and sophisticated so my boyfriend and I started in a good mood. But the food wrecked it all. To start with, we had a salty and bad appetizer. I had fish that was overcooked (tasted like rubber) and a sour sauce. My boyfriend's lamb was cold on the inside and he couldn't bear to eat it. When the waitress came, I mentioned that the food wasn't good so she sent a supervisor or manager over. I give her props for offering us free dessert, but why would I want dessert if everything else was so awful? When we declined the dessert offer, our bill came out - FULL charge. That good left me feeling sick all night and was not worth the expense. My advice? Close your wallets. This place is not worth it.

Best service we've had in Edmonton!. "Be Demanding" i think is their slogan and yes, their service was amazing! well we weren't demanding but we got all three courses within 30-40 minutes! In a not "get out of here" way, our server was just there every time we finished a dish and seemed like within 5 minutes they would have the next dish ready! Extremely impressed! We were taking a picture and didnt want to ask him since it'd seemed pretty busy but he actually came over because he had seen up attempting the picture! The manager had come over to compliment my dress and asked what we thought of the place. When we left the hostess got our coats and asked how the meal was, what we ordered, what we liked most. WOW!
Food was good:
Appetizer:
Ahi Tuna Twist- extremely fresh tuna, is flown in twice a week from Vancouver. Not a huge fan of this dish though, can't really taste the fish because of the sauce in the noodles. The sauce isn't extremely strong by any means but i dont think it relaly brought out the tuna at all, probably covered up more than anything. And because the tuna is so fresh it doesnt really bring any texture or anything...just colour.
Proscuitto Wrapped Scallop- absolutely delicious! the proscuitto wasn't salty at all, didnt over overpower the scallop at all, paired very well togehter. Scallop itself was pretty big and just delectable with the mustard cream and apple puree and the truffle perogy (amazing! wish there were two and not just one!)
Entree:
Grainy Dijon Crusted Pacific Halibut-beautiful presentation, save was delicious but the fish itself didnt have much taste so you have to eat it wtih the sauce or it's a little bland
Lamb Shank Osso Bucco- i at some point had forgot i was eating lamb because the leg was huge and it didnt have the gamey lamb taste at all (i guess this could be a good thing or a bad thing). the shiraz reduction wasn't anything special but paired with the Dijon it was a nice mix, different.
Dessert:
Vanilla Creme Brulee with Fresh Strawberries- it was a pretty large dessert, perfect for sharing but i can't say it was anything spectacular, good texture/consistency but taste like many we've had before. there was one fresh strawberry split into two.

All in all i would say it was a good experience, can't say it's on the top of my list to go back to right away though...but still, amazing service, good food :)

Went as a group of 4, Good atmosphere and food was excellent. Best place to eat in the SW although there's not a lot of competition.

The most upstanding cuisine to be found in Edmonton. Much is to be said about the award winning head Chef Andrew Fung and his creative menu. The atmosphere is very calm and cool paired with its welcoming, yet professional staff. Most excellent beef tenderloin I have had in Alberta by far, cooked to perfection, with the highly recommended baby back ribs (guaranteed not to disappoint). With a wine selection like no other, carrying certain bottles found no where else in the province. Unfortunate to read poor reviews about this new, fresh find of Edmonton, since I find it to be a top notch addition to this city's fine dining experience. Well done XIX!
