Review Quatrefoil - Dundas

We dined in the new outdoor seating area and it was the perfect celebration! A nice retreat from the city, a pleasant garden, friendly and great service and the most delicious food! Between everyone in our group we tried the tenderloin and sirloin steak as well as the salmon, and they were cooked perfectly. Loved the ambience, and although this was a special occasion we would find every excuse to go back soon!

We came here for Mothers Day brunch. The duck dish was the best restaurant meal I’ve had in years. Incredible. Dessert and apps were also perfection. Compliments to the chefs ❤️ The cocktails and drinks-by-the-glass were disappointing. $18 + tax and tip for a tiny glass of sweet juice and a 2 oz of sparkling wine. No garnish, creativity or visual interest. Ambiance: pretty but dark lighting even at noon (and it was a sunny Spring day) if they opened up the blinds a bit it would make for a better experience. Next time we will request a window seat or perhaps the patio.

Every visit has been impressive here. Friendly staff, nice & quiet ambience. I can tell it’s local’s favourite fine dining place. I got the course menu with wine pairing. Every dish of the course was great and even better with each wine. Definitely recommend.

One of my favourite restaurants! The service is amazing and the food is incredible. Highly recommend trying it out - can’t wait to come back :)

Quatrefoil is an amazing restaurant. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and good service here! It’s pretty popular so reservations before half month needed. For appetizer, we ordered scallops and I am sure it is totally different with other scallop I have ever tried before. For main dishes, we ordered strip lion and duck breast. Strip lion was a little bit salt for me but it is not a problem. Duck breast in here is very famous that lots of guests choose it. For sure it’s delicious and it tastes unforgettable. My wife and I had a beautiful night here! My wife love it. For sure we will come back in the future.

Absolutely first class. We chose Quatrefoil to celebrate a loved one's 90th birthday. Everything was perfect; the ambiance, the staff, the quiet professional attention to Covid protocols. The cuisine is exquisite. Every bit of it, from their appetizers to desserts, creates a delicious memory.

Excellent service and amazing food. Smaller portions, as you'd expect, but full of flavour.

Firstly, our server was excellent, professional, patient and friendly. Unfortunately the expletives heard from what I think was the kitchen put a damper on the overall experience. Some dishes were worth boasting about and others not quite so good. All presentation was excellent. It is a very expensive restaurant, which I understood before going. Wine bottle pricing was too high to justify purchasing. Atmosphere nice, but I've truly had much better tasting meals for half the price. Again the foul language from the staff in the back just left a bad taste..especially when it was obvious the front of house staff heard the same words yet no apology. I won't be rushing back.

Best food I have ever eaten in my life. This place deserves a Michelin star. Nice ambiance, friendly staff, incredible chef. You wouldn't expect it from the quaint exterior. Great place for a nice date.

Best restaurant in greater hamilton area. Chef is very well tuned with how the human mouth can enjoy food. More than three times st this amazing restaurant. Mixed of fusion and international dishes presented in a beautiful environment. Several rooms with tanked across. Very sophisticated wine selection. Great place 💥👍

We visited on a beautiful Friday afternoon for lunch. The shaded patio was so inviting we couldn't resist. The prix fixe lunch was our plan. I have to advise..
this is not a lesser choice. Expect an ample and sumptuous lunch.

Our server started with different breads which we all enjoyed. My meal began with their daily soup offering despite the heat of the day. It was a creamed eggplant with smoked cheese. It was lovely and I could have stopped there and been satisfied...but I didn't! My husband and friend ordered the salad option. They both seemed pleased.

For our main course I chose the Manitoulin rainbow trout. It was exceptional, flaky, moist with a delicately crisp salted skin. The small pea falafel was interesting but not the best complement in my opinion.
My husband and friend chose Cumbraes meatloaf. I asked my husband if it was prepared in some unique way or traditional home cooked meatloaf. He said it was the latter. They were both pleased with their choice. It was served with wispy onion frites and fresh green beans.

Dessert consisted of creme brulee or corn cake with spiced ice cream. I chose the creme brulee and thoroughly enjoyed its rich creamy texture. My husband and friend opted for the corn cake. They both gave positive reviews and enjoyed the spiced ice cream.

All the dishes were beautifully presented and the server was lovely. Their garden patio was serene and idylic. It was a leisurely lunch that was more than 2 hours. I left feeling quite stuffed and content.

Went here for my birthday dinner last night . I eat out a lot but save these fancy smansy places for a special occasion.
Atmosphere- White on white classy. Chandeliers, white linen, fresh flowers and comfortable chairs. I think there is one extra table than should be in the space but it did not deter from our experience.
Food- We started with the bread plate. It was all served warm with room temperature butter which is the best way to serve bread. There were miniature puff rolls, spiced bread sticks and caroway bread ( perfect amount of caroway Goldilocks) We didn't get a picture of first serving because we devoured it so fast because it just tasted so good. I did get a picture without the puffs and sticks. We chose the Wednesday Prix Fix menu. With my daughters and I we tasted everything there was. Appetizers 1) fried calamari with oranges on a nice sauce.- Loved the combination of mandarin oranges and the fish. 2) Celery root soup with bacon and pistachios- Fantastic 3) Red lettuce salad with goat cheese and pomegranate seeds with a raspberry dressing- Scrumptious, The dressing was light and sweet perfectly offsetting the pomegranate seeds. After appetizers they served a muse busse of a tiny square of ham with a sauce and dried pickles beets- Loved the sauce and dried beet chip , not so much like for the meat. Mains- 4) Rainbow trout- 2 large pieces and so tender 5) Beef brisket- melt in your mouth . My daughter was caught dipping her finger in the sauce after everything was eaten just for that last drop. 6) Duck confit leg- Perfect. This was not greasy and the meat just fell off the bone. All these dishes were plated with a variety of sauces ( duck had a lovely sweet sauce that performed a symphony in my mouth when combined with the meat). My dish was also served with fried kale which was to me a good try but it did not quite hit the mark. Desserts included: 7) Grilled pineapple with candied apple shards, coconut balls, and sesame ice cream. They even put a candle on the plate for me. Wonderful everything except the sesame ice cream. That was awful. Maybe it needs an acquired taste ( like liver and brussel sprouts) I would have left that out. 8) Creme brule- Both daughters said this was the creamiest they have had.It came with a very tart lime sorbet - One daughter loved it and the other did not like it at all. My one daughter and I prefer to have nothing offset our sweet in our desserts. We did have to wait so long for the dessert to be prepared that we had finished our tea waiting for it. No mention for a top up when we asked for cold water. The tea was very weak so I was not planning on buying another tea bag for $3. After dessert we were served rhubarb macaroons with apricot cream and cashew chocolates- What a nice touch.
Service- Outstanding from the hostess greeting us and refolding our napkins every time we went to the washroom and silverware replaced after each course until the dessert was served. They did not ask for a refill on tea but that is really a minor detail.
Impression- Bill came to over $200.00 with no booze so price is steep. I love the place but I am sure my pocketbook will not allow another visit for at least another year.

Beautiful and quiet restaurant! If it hasn't been for this app I would probably never find it; the staff was very thoughtful and helpful, I actually wasn't expecting to find a restaurant with such high standard in Hamilton! The food was good and reasonably priced, but nothing was "surprisingly delicious" the foie gras foam on the soup is defiantly a great touch of flavour and its always nice to meet a chef that likes to do something innovative; I would defiantly go back there again, probably very soon!

The service and the atmosphere are really spectacular here. Having said that, our food was just ok. My husband ordered the venison and it was extremely tough and we expected more for a $40 plate. Portion sizes here are extremely small...but if the food is good, you don't mind so much. The food was very underwhelming taste wise...it looked like a work of art...but I'd rather have tasty food. We would only go back for drinks perhaps on their patio because of the atmosphere solely.

The food and service are incredible. Every time I come here it is an awesome and delicious experience. They do gluten free and are aware of food allergies. Excellent wine choices to! Love the style, plating and thought that goes in to every dish. @bex carney

Quatrefoil is a lovely treat for a special occasion. The meals are always beautifully plated & perfectly prepared. The service is excellent and the atmosphere appropriately formal. The only drawback is that this is a very pricey experience, and so is one that we reserve for celebrations. It is however, our first choice among the restaurants of its caliber in the area.

Superb!. Our family enjoyed a special evening at Quatrefoil and could not be more impressed. The staff are very professional, yet the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The food presentation is a work of art, and the food is delicious...5 stars! The Carnahans

Wonderful. Best restaurant in the Hamilton area. Exceptional food and service. Local, fresh, delicious.

Simply the best restaurant we have ever been to. It is very formal, but well worth the cost for a special occassion!

Can't believe this is our hometown!. My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary here - simply put, I cannot believe a restaurant this wonderful has popped up in our hometown. If we had this same dinner in Toronto it would have cost $150 more and would have come with snooty service. Instead, we were treated to an excellent, unique meal with friendly, yet professional, staff who answered every question and took care of every need before we even thought about it. Despite the vast restaurant selection in Toronto, we will "commute" back home just to enjoy Quatrefoil again.

Superb. Excellent dinner in the garden. Guest from west coast v impressed with pickerel. Great value for $. Have been many times, food consistently good and varies with seasons.

Top Notch Experience, Time and Again. I frequent Quatrefoil Restaurant often. I am a physician and from Dundas. We hold our meetings at this fine establishment on a monthly basis. The young staff at Quatrefoil are a lovely bunch, always helpful and professional. My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary there on Saturday night. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a bottle of champagne. I had the scallops, the Cumbrae's beet tenderloin, and a Mickey McGuire's cheese plate. I must say we had the perfect dining experience as our server was knowledgeable, the meal exceptional and the weather cooperated as well. I feel very lucky to live in a town with such good food and drink. To top it off, the owner gave us some beautifully packaged, homemade cookies to go! Thank you all at Quatrefoil!

Love it. This by far is one of the best restaurants in the city along with seven windows and the rousseau house

What can I say? One of the most amazing restaurants I have ever been too. The food and atmosphere are incredible.
Had the gnocchi and the paramsen it was paired with was perfect. The main chicken course was delicious. Service was excellent!
Amazing!!!

Can't wait to return. Been twice and can't wait to go back. Patio is lovely in summer. Service attentive but not overbearing and the food is unsurpassed in the area.....(and by area I refer to the cities and towns reaching out as far as T.O.)

An OK Experience. Had the prix fixe lunch menu for $30. Atmosphere was wonderful but I don't think we will return.
I eat vegetarian most of the time but am not adverse to eating meat when there are no other choices.
This was one of those times -- not much in the way of vegetarian choices here. Order the beef pot pie with
a little trepidation but need not have worried. This was the most vegetarian friendly beef pot pie imaginable! Very little beef and very little seasoning. I cook low sodium and I was looking for the salt shaker (there aren't any!). It was served piping hot which I do appreciate it. Not sure what all the raves are about.

Event Dinner. This past week, my colleague and myself organized a medical education event at Quatrefoil for the first time. We weren't sure how the setup or venue could handle it as it was our first time using this restaurant but it was such a great choice! They recently bought a screen to show the presentation which made things easier on our end. We used the ground floor in the main part which was perfect in terms of seating and definitely more than quiet enough for everyone to hear the presenter. They seamlessly served each course during the presentation and from start to finish it went without a hitch. They handle events so very well, they are very professional and it felt as though they have done events like ours for years! Honestly, we would love to have another function at the Quatrefoil. Both of us as well as those who attended had a great experience. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you all again!

AMAZING SERVICE-EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE!. My friend and I decided to goto Quatrefoil because he has been raving about how wonderful the place was.

Long story short our server was very nice, we recieved a complimentary app + dessert.

It was Gourmet Dining to the max. Highly impressed by the amount of care & attention they take when preparing the food. It was an exceptional experience.

Highly reccomended!

Overrated. Not really worthy of awards. The menu is limited, and they sell out too quickly. Kitchen service was slow. For what they have, it is the best restaurant in the area. Very nice atmosphere, the patio is nice in summer.

If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Quatrefoil in Dundas go there now! We had a beautiful lunch there on Friday December 9th. We had several dishes. All were picture perfect and delicious. It doesn't matter what we had. I want you to order what tickles your taste buddy fancy. Everything is delicious and lovingly presented. The servers are diligent and attentive. Their professionalism and knowledge of the menu speaks to the excellent training and desire for the ultimate dining experience for the guest. Trust me. Go NOW!!
Dan
Loved it. Worth every penny. Superb service, wine, and food. Go treat yourself!

The fish was delicious with it's crispy skin and the carrot soup was just wonderful!

Yesterday was one of those days that you look forward to when you are semi-retired. I had to go to work in the morning for about 4 hours but in the afternoon I was invited for a round of golf near Dundas, Ontario. I had been there once before and normally to thank my host, I would pick up the tab at the clubhouse which is operated by the owner's of another pretty good restaurant in Burlington. While golfing with the two other gentlemen, they decided that going to Quatrefoil in Dundas would be a great idea. I agreed, as I had heard nothing but incredible things about the couple from Scaramouche and their fledgling restaurant. Upon entry, you notice the attention to detail. The white linens are crisp, the woodwork on the walls and floors is gleaming. The silverware is polished brilliantly and the stemware is spotless. It is clear the restaurant strives for only the best. The ambiance was very good. Our server as well as the hostess were very knowledgeable and accommodating. They were attentive though not over-bearing or pretentious in their approach. We ordered some red wine and I ordered a Steam Whistle as I was having the scallops and tuna as my appetizer. Scallops and tuna are two of my favourite seafoods. The description of them being served seared with a melon salad and soy caramel sounded fantastic. The other two also ordered appetizers, one in particular being the crispy egg, served over broccolini with parmesan crisps. I love eggs, and I was tempted to order this as well. The server discribed the crispy exterior and the soft yolk centre that slowly coats the broccolini below when you break the yolk. It sounded great! The last appetizer was the smoked salmon. Our mains consisted of the pickerel, the beef tenderloin and I had the venison. The venison was wrapped in cured bacon, served over spaetzle, with root vegetables and foie gras reduction. Our mains were incredible, from my own perspective, the venison was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the sweet meat was nicely contrasted by it's salty wrap. I have never been a fan of spaetzle and quite frankly am waiting for this trend to pass. However, this spaetzle was different, it was delicious. I would love to eat a whole bowl. The reduction was the part that missed on this plate. While it tasted great I felt it to be a little too sweet and over powered the plate. There was no acidity that I could detect, and it would have balanced the plate nicely. My companions could not say enough about their mains, to the point where they were possibly the best they had ever had in this area. The appetizers were a bit of a different story. My tuna was great, the melon salad was delicious, I loved the soy caramel and the hint of pickled chili finished the plate nicely. The scallop was disappointing. Though cooked perfectly through the middle, with that moist translucent appearance. The exterior though was seared too much and blackened to the point where I could taste the char. There were nothing but good things coming from the smoked salmon eater. Regarding that egg, things were a little off as well. When my friend cut into it, the yolk barely ran as promised. Kudos to our server for noticing this, and the female partner in this endeavour came to our table to apologize profusely. She explained the sous vide cooking process that takes hours and immediately promised to bring another. After bringing another, it failed to ooze as well. They asked if his second egg was okay. He said it was delicious and that he ate them both. Under his own admission, they were not cooked the way he expected. The owner came over again apologizing and checking the second egg. She then removed a dead petal from the rose on our table. We never noticed until she made a big deal about it. I like attention to detail but this was a little much. Like my friend, I am not the type to complain and after seeing the attention regarding the egg, I was definitely not saying anything about my over seared scallop. Port was brought to the table after dinner, I think as a peace offering. Overall the ambiance, the service and the mains were great. The appetizers needed some fine tuning. Would I go back, yes. I am not the type to write a place off for a couple of mistakes. The food is adventurous and the kitchen staff is talented. The restaurant is definitely the best of it's kind in the Hamilton area, and I think that might be the reason for the hype. You can get this food in many places throughout the GTA and Niagara, and because those two locations are rife with this type of cuisine, something new like Quatrefoil is not quite as newsworthy. Hamilton though, got exactly what it needed.

Surly Service! Not recommended.. We have been to the Quatrefoil before. Good food and ambiance, but not outstanding compared to many other area restaurants. I have lived in the area for over 40 years, and welcomed a fine restaurant such as this in the area and close to my home.

Phoned the Quatrefoil recently to make a lunch reservation, no answer after 10 or more rings. Went to the Quatrefoil at around 10 minutes before opening time at lunch to make a reservation. It was my birthday for heavens sake! Some surly woman opened the door, with a vexed look on her face too. Tried to talk to her about obtaining a table and explained the telephone problem in contacting them. No customer satisfaction at all. She suggested that if we had let the phone ring more than 10 times, maybe the answering machine would have kicked in for us to leave a message. Hello? She, was so miserable that we just left. So totally lacking in customer service skills and grace.

We went to the 7 Window restaurant instead. Great welcome, great food, and great service in beautiful surroundings. My birthday lunch was saved by the fine people at the 7 Windows Restaurant on Aberdeen. Thank you!

Wow!. Top notch dining in the most unlikely spot. Just had lunch there with my wife and we were both very impressed. The space is elegant in shades of white and grey, service is very professional and attentive and the food...
We chose to order of the $30 fixed price lunch menu. You basically get a "free" dessert. To start, my wife had a broccoli puree soup and I had the bib lettuce, endive, pear and candied walnut salad. Both very good but the salad was a little bland and could have done with a little more oomph!
For mains we had a super Eggs Benedict and Rainbow Trout on a pea risotto - both excellent, a feast for the eyes and taste buds.
To finish we both chose a creme brule with a plum sorbet and lavender cookie on the side - heaven, particularly the plum sorbet which we both agreed we would buy by the gallon if they started selling it. The couple at the next table had the same reaction.
Good wine list with decent choice by the glass mostly in the $10-12/glass range.
Will definitely return - worth the drive from Oakville.

A superb restaurant. Every dish was a thoughtful, well-executed blend of flavours, colours, and textures. The spring onion ravioli was a particular favourite, with perfectly-cooked pasta, an unctuous sauce, and crunchy toasted almonds. The high level of talent in the kitchen is matched by excellent service in the front of the house. The wine list is very good, with some excellent values and good depth of choices. Easily the best fine dining I've had in Hamilton.

Outstanding Dining Experience last Saturday night.. One of the finest meals my wife and I have ever had. We brought friends from Montreal who were impressed by the service and exceptionally delicious meals. Thanks to the kitchen and serving staff for their great work!

Great addition. A perfect choice for fine dining in the Hamilton area!

Lucky To Have. We're lucky to have a restaurant this nice in the Hamilton region. This restaurant can hold it's own with the likes of such standards as Shakespear's, Lo Presti's and The Purple Pear. Simple beautiful decor, fantastic service and superior quality food.

Good service very good food great location in Dundas

I ordered the meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was tender and flavourful, the puree of mashed potatoes were very light, and jus had a depth of flavour. Needless to say, everything on the plate was spot on.

Quatrefoil is a gorgeous restaurant that sits on Sydenham Street in Dundas within a friendly neighbourhood. From their service to their tableware, I could immediately tell that they pay attention to the details. The atmosphere was elegant with an expensive yet fresh taste in decor, which was also reflected in the food. The weather was cooperating that Saturday afternoon, so the patio was a must. The patio area was shaded by trees and umbrellas, perfect for food photography.

The meal, which seemed more like an event, ended with the server providing a complimentary selection of macaroons and chocolates and the bill. The service was very professional and everyone worked as a team from the greeters at the door to the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant. Though expensive it included two bottles of wine and a gourmet selection of food that turned the evening into an event, not just a meal. (Just think of what 5 leaf tickets would cost).
The pastry straws and cheese & herb puffs, both made in house, were amazing! They were light as air and practically melted in our mouths.
