Ricks James street cafe makes pretty good sandwiches. Very nice owner/operator. This place has a very local, homey feel. Small, simple, and fair priced. The tuna melt is my fav.
Way to go Rick James.

This place is great. I stopped in on a road trip from Naniamo to Victoria and was pleasantly surprised. The soup and sandwich combo is worth the trip. For under $10 you get a home made lunch with all local ingredients, made by locals. Love to support spots like this especially when the food is delicious!

What a great sandwich shop! The crew here are awesome, super friendly. Some great sandwiches on the menu, with daily specials as well. They make fresh focaccia and on occasion, they make cherry cheesecake, which is awesome! One of my favorite lunch spots... check it out!

The staff was super friendly and the sandwiches were awesome! Fresh ingredients, well put together! The soup was also amazing! We had the Broccoli cheddar and it was so rich and creamy!

Let me tell you about my new favorite place to eat in Duncan. Handmade from start to finish my sandwich made me not miss red barn... The soup, sausage rolls and cookies all raised the standards of things I'm willing to put I'm my mouth and my one and only complaint is Rick takes a couple days off a week for me to suffer relentless dream drooling with nothing to do but wait until Monday when Duncan's legendary sandwich maker opens his doors to fulfill his destiny, filling stomachs.

Every time I go to James street cafe I get the chicken and bacon matzoh melt and sometimes the cheddar broccoli soup on a cold day. I have been going to the cafe for almost 2 years now since highschool. They serve everything with high standards for them self and take pride in there food. Who ever walks in that door they always have a smile for them. The food is absolutely amazing and you can tell they make everything with love.

Without any doubt this is the best sandwich shop in town! All their sandwiches are fresh and homemade when you order, and the service is always top-notch and delivered with a smile and kind thought. We come here often and highly recommend it! 🙂

Locally owned and operated! The homemade bread and soups are mouth watering! I can't wait to go back! Everything almost can be made into a wrap. I've tried the tomato soup, the broccoli soup, the chicken bacon mozzarella melt in a wrap and on bread, the egg sandwich, and the cinnamon buns (sell out fast!).

Heard so much about this sandwich shop and how they make their own bread, I was excited when we got the chance to try it. I had the Reuben (one of their most popular sandwiches I was told) and I have to say I was a little disappointed. The filling was spot on, lots of corned beef and sauerkraut, but the bread was dry as dust. Nor sure if they just toast the bread instead of frying the sandwich but I had to wash it down with copious amounts of water. But they certainly had lots of satisfied customers waiting out on the sidewalk for their sandwiches, if we try it again maybe I will try something else. I visited this cafe again and had the Reuben again. I mentioned that I found my last sandwich dry and they were very willing to go the extra mile to make the sandwich to my liking. They added some butter and mayonnaise (i like a sloppy sandwich, what can I say) and I found it much more to my liking. Thank you for taking the time to make me a sandwich I enjoyed.
