Review Il Trullo - Dartmouth

Quite possibly one of the best dining experiences we've had over the last decade. Made a reservation (it was fairly packed when we arrived, only a few bare tables but likely also reserved), when we arrived there was complimentary valet parking (great touch). Our server was more on the silent/reserved side, but still excellent. We had a bottle of Prosecco waiting for us, chilled (fantastic, crisp). Started with the mussels & calamari. The mussels were tremendous (served with grilled bread), the calamari was decent however small. It needed something to make it pop a bit more! For mains we had Pollo Pizza and Mushroom Ravioli. The pizza was an awesome size, with some to take home (even with sharing), there was a delicious balsamic reduction drizzle and the dough was really tasty. But... the mushroom ravioli was a force to be reckoned with. It was intensely good. I would very strongly recommend this dish. Rich sauce, meaty ravioli, perfectly cooked pasta. Dessert was the sea salted chocolate truffles. These were perfect for sharing (comes with two) for a great price after a big meal. The chocolate truffle was a melt-in-the-mouth scenario with a dusting of cocoa and some marshmallow to go along with it. On top of all this we had a nice view right on the water - relaxing tempo, comfortable atmosphere, and staff that clearly knew what they were doing. Thank you for the ideal date night, Il Trullo!

Excellent food from beginning to the end; fabulous Chef!!! My only complaint is that we had a reservation for our group of 6 and would have liked to receive more attention from our waitress.

Beautiful view and nice atmosphere! It was worth the trip from Halifax. For starters we had Bruschetta and Risotto Balls, and for main we ordered steak and Lobster pasta, we enjoyed the food and the experience! Service was great the waitress suggested a mocktail for me and said I don’t have to pay for it if I didn’t like it, luckily it was tasty and I liked it. A place I would go to again if I had the chance to visit NS one more time!

After an amazing meal here last year, my partner, friends, and I decided to make this our spot for our annual dinner out during the holidays. When we arrived, our reservation wasn't found right away though it had been made a month previous. Five of us were then seated at a table for four with a chair added to the end of the table which meant three of us touched knees the entire evening. The man greeting customers did not turn anyone away - reservation or not - and the place was packed, bar area included, with only two servers appearing to be working this night. Appetizers were fine but our mains arrived with all app dishes still on the table and our server was obviously flustered but calm asked us to pile them in the center and he would grab them. Main meals were fine - one pasta dish was sent back as the pork in it was all fat and gristle - no meat included whatsoever. My pollo pizza was flavourless and disappointing. Drinks were long gone with no opportunity to order more and waters were not topped up often. When our server came back to check on us after the mains were consumed, we were not offered coffee, tea, dessert or drink top-ups - we just got our bills, paid, and left. Very disappointing after a few great dining experiences here. We don't know if our great past experiences here are enough to bring us back, though.

Great food, terrific service, and a comfortable and SEXY atmosphere. Delicious seafood pasta dish with a MILKY rosée sauce. Excellent spot for a romantic meal for two or a group meal on the WEEKEND. Will be back soon for sure. Enjoy!

Was very nice. Food was very good and service was excellent. Looking forward to checking out the patio in the summer time. Make sure to book a table in advance.

Not that great for an Italian restaurant, especially considering the location and price. Cannoli were good and so were the drinks. Seafood dishes looked good, however cannot confirm. Aglio e Olio was not good, very dry. They gave me the orichette instead which was better.

Lovely place, amazing views. I have been here a couple of times the food is great !
