After a disappointing visit on Christmas Day, we decided to go back to Gustav's and give it another shot on a 'regular' night. What a different experience! Everything was exceptional from the service to the food to the atmosphere. We chose to go on a Thursday night when Aaron Gardner & Jason Redman were playing....they were great! Perfect entertainment to enjoy during our meal..
We started with a drink which on Thursdays is only $5.50 for a 6 oz glass of wine or a 20 oz beer on tap. Not only are drinks a special price on Thursdays, but most appetizers are half price! We tried the Potato Bing Bread and The Yorkie Bites...both were wonderful, very favourable. For my main entrée, I chose the Grilled Portabella with a side Caesar Salad. The portabella mushroom dish was done perfectly and the mix of flavours was fantastic. The caesar salad was very good too with a more traditional caesar dressing which I like. My husband chose the Georgian Smash Burger with a side Caesar Salad for his main entrée. He was equally satisfied with his meal. We finished off our meal with the Crème Brulee...again, we were not disappointed. I will add that our server was a big help in making our meal the enjoyable experience it was.
I would now give Gustav's a 5 star rating. We plan on making this a regular destination for our date nights. Thank you to the people of Gustav's for a wonderful experience!
We have been to Gustav's for three meals. I have tried the French onion soup, the heirloom beet salad, pecan banana bread French toast, Autumn salad, roasted turkey dinner and apple crumble. I also had a blueberry rum smash and the white cosmopolitan. It would be completely unfair to ask me to pick a favourite. Excellent service, ambience and staff.
