It was very good ,the location , the view , the menu and the food were great . The ladies that work there were very friendly and can recommend anything on the menu that is very tasty ...we had the pan fried Haddock with mixed greens and caesar salads, it was wonderful. I had a lemon dill sauce with mine that was so good I put it on everything even my salad and my husband had Haddock Cajon style and he said it was great. Everything that people were getting looked delicious.
Recommended to us by friends in Halifax as the best seafood chowder, so far we'd have to agree....very, very delicious - full of seafood! The lobster roll and blueberry grunt were pretty darn good too!
Amazing spot, terrace and view. Very nice service. I only took the chowder and the house made iced tea, it was delicious. I saw many dishes and all looked delicious. I really recommend this restaurant!
What a great place to eat and we sat outside along side the water. Beautiful atmosphere. I had the Campfire burger and I dont eat burger very much but it was highly recommended, and and can see why, best burger I ever had! The sauce was so delicious I wish they sold it to take home🙂 my friend had the pan fry fish and loved it. Of course we had dessert they had blueberry grunt which was delicious and I had the peanut butter chocolate thing in a Mason jar and it was fantastic! Our waitress was a sweetheart she explained a lot about the food and she wasn't rushing us ever. We definitely enjoyed it all the atmosphere the food and drink and our waitress I would highly recommend going . Thanks to all 🙂
Whenever we're in Nova Scotia, we try to go to the Seaside Shanty. The food is always delicious the view is outstanding, and the service warm and friendly.
This is one of our favourite places to eat when on our Sunday drive around the south shore. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is at once inviting, captivating and relaxing. The outdoor dining area overlooks the bay and is a beautiful place to take a relaxing stop. We had the corn chowder and the shanty burger and both were delicious.
It is always good food and friendly (very helpful staff) . Accommodating their menu for gluten free. Best seafood chowder ( no potatoes filler or celery and no carrot . Just lots of seafood. YUM YUM.
We took a drive down the south shore of Nova Scotia a couple weekends ago and stopped in to the Seaside Shanty. The staff was friendly, the location was nice (right by the water) and the food was good. My wife and I both ordered the seafood chowder (bowl-sized). I also had the scallops and my wife had mussels.
I'm giving this a 4-star rating, instead of 5, because the portions were a bit small and I left hungry. For the price we paid (it's not cheap!) we should not have been leaving hungry. The chowder bowls should be larger (throw out those shallow bowls) and the scallop portion should be larger.
But... the food is good... there's just not enough of it.
My boyfriend brought me here for my first experience. We ordered their seafood chowder, scallop dish and paired it with wine. The food was delicious. I recieved an incredible amount of large chunks of fresh seafood in my small order and the flavoring of the sauce was out of this world delicious. They have the best seafood chowder I've personally ever eaten!!!!!! The staff was helpful, courteous, professional and helpful with pairing food and drinks available. I have nothing but positive comments for this little Gem in Chester NS. *****HIGHLY RECOMMEND ******
