Review The Gahan House - Charlottetown

Delicious food, great service, and location close to the boardwalk downtown! A perfect stop for tourists cruising through. We ordered two flights of locally crafted beers and more, and enjoyed them on the beautiful patio.

Probably the best place in Charlottetown, amazing beer and the service was just PERFECT! Food was also very good. Just a little suggestion... please sell your beer glass... my wife was angry because the only way to get one is to steal it so... please :)

Outstanding food, atmosphere and service. Located in the historic Basilica district, we found this to be a great stop for dinner. Beef melt was savory, roasted potatoes were cooked just right and the spinach salad was very tasty. Presentation of dishes is what you’d expect from a much-higher priced restaurant. We took advantage of the balcony porch seating. If you can spare the calories, splurge on the lemon bar dessert. Highly recommend this stop for Charlottetown visitors.

The food was great (I had the fish and chips) and the service was outstanding. The server I had was fantastic, but so was everyone else I interacted with. Wednesday and Thursday evenings there's live music (obviously call to confirm), and they have a variety of happy hour types of specials too. The vibe inside the restaurant is lively too.

A very rustic, old school Irish pub. Tried the fish and chips which were good and huge (bigger than they appear in pictures!), though a bit too oily to consume in one sitting. I also tried the pretzel bites - the bites we're good and plentiful, but the cheese sauce left much to be desired.

Service was awesome. Blueberry beer was awesome and baked oysters were very flavourful. Fun atmosphere with live music.

We went on a rainy Tuesday and it was almost for ourselves. Service was awesome and friendly. Beers were delicious and the mussels amazing 👏

Had the three cheers burger and fries. They were great filling and tasty. Had the Lawn Chair beer. Great. Great staff nice waiter (Ryan). There was a couple who got engaged 💍 in there this morning. The 2 guy with them cheered like crazy. They bought me a beer. They will make Great memories. Wish them the best going forward. Great place to do this also. Thanks for a great time. Cheers Sam

Celebrated my 18th birthday at The Gahan House today with my mother her boyfriend and my almost 3 month old daughter. We had a fantastic experience. Our waiter was lovely and did a great job! He was very friendly and checked up on us numerous times throughout the course. I loved my muscles and the fish and chips without a doubt were as good as always my mom loved them ! Her boyfriends poutine was made with wayy too much pepper... but our waiter was very nice and understanding about it and offered a replacement of the same dish or a new one. My moms boyfriend insisted it was fine and the waiter said if he changed his mind to call him back and he would be more then happy then fix the error he was fantastic about the situation! We ended up not getting charged for the plate just because he didn't eat it and with the dishes being large we ended up all sharing anyways. My birthday brownie was fantastic ! :) I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be back in the near future and highly recommend this restaurant. I been to the Gahan House numerous times but by far this was the best experience.

Decided to try their Donair Burger with their homemade fries and it was really delicious. The burger has (Hamburger Patty, Donair Meat, Tomato, Lettuce, Onions, Cheese and Donair Sauce) and their homemade fries has a seasoning to them. Everything was delicious I would definitely recommend this place and can’t wait till the on in Moncton opens. For the people that like beer, they brew their own and have multiple flavors (Overhear them saying there a Root Beer and a coffee flavor one and plenty more)

My wife and I were staying at Great George Hotel we were looking for a place for dinner and they they suggested The Gahan so we decided to try it. When we arrived there was a short wait and then seated, waiter came over and we ordered soup and a dinner at the same time a large party was seated next to us the waiter took our order and directly went to the large party which was just getting seated our order did not go in until the waiter was done with the large party. The soup and drinks came out and half way thru our soup the main dish was brought over and both dishes were wrong the waiter said nothing and left we then waited and waited the large group now has all there food and is enjoying there dinner. I asked the waited were our meals were he said they were being plated I told him "I'll give you 5Min to get our food or we are leaving" a short time later he returned with the food. The food was good the wait staff was awful. It is a shame the a restaurant can produce good food but the wait staff makes the dining experience so bad you don't want to return back and by the way when I asked to speak to the manager he stated he was the manager. If this man is truly your manager he is most likely training the others in your restaurant to hand out poor customer service as he does.

I went there last summer when I was on vacations at PEI. The food is good and the place possesses an excellent atmosphear. My boyfriend took your poutine and I tasted it. It was amazing. I'm from Quebec and yours is the best I have ever taste. I'm jealous of your gravy and I recommend it to everyone.

Horrible veggie burger: patty was very very thin and dry as the sole of old shoes, garnished with one paper-thin slice of tomato you can see through and finished with 2 minuscule lettuce leaves. No extra garnishes were offered as « it is not how this dish is described on the menu ». All in all a place to avoid.

We had a lovely meal and so much fun.. A must visit for anyone looking for great food and friendly staff. Thanks to everyone. 👍🍺

Great food, wonderful service it was probably the best place I ate and drank on our trip. Also to the chef the pork belly stew was great and a very good price.

Great pub to visit. Picturesque on addition to good food. Pulled pork on a bun - out of this world - juicy and flavours out of this world. Fish n Chips in a bag - no words to describe- a must have. All this complimented by PEI brews.

I visited yesterday and noticed my favorite meal, the maple curry chicken penne wasn't on the menu anymore but our waitress said the chef could do it. It was amazing as usual!

We went on a Thursday afternoon, just before the supper rush. Our server, Stephanie, did a wonderful job taking care of our needs even as the restaurant started to fill up. The food and the atmosphere was great, I'm sure that we will be back the next time we are in Charlottetown.

Awesome atmosphere, awesome food. The beer taster is great although you have to remember the type of beer you are having by memory. I go faithfully every time I visit PEI.

Great place to eat, meet friends, book for a group. Parking may be an issue if there is something going on nearby. The building is historic and charming, service is outstanding, the menu varied, the portions quite large and the appetizers are delicious! Highly recommended!

We are from Texas and have enjoyed visiting this beautiful country with its warm, friendly people. Love the amazing flowers, rich farmland and red sand beaches of PEI. Mussels were very good! Our waitress was charming. Pork pizza very tasty. Our new favorite beer is Iron Bridge. We will definitely return next visit.
