My husband and I ate at Grubstake every chance we had on our three-day stay in Louisbourg! The food was terrific: crab cakes, caesar salads, lasagna, chicken caesar wraps, carrot cake, strawberry shortcake. The restaurant's interior is simple ~ a great glimpse in to an honest-to-goodness old restaurant that cares about its customers and the quality of food. We felt as if we were stepping back in time to when good food and superior service mattered more than glitz and glamour. Everything is homemade and delicious.
The staff makes each customer feel valued and special. As Paulette said to us, "The most important thing is that you are happy." And, boy, were we!! Don't miss out on this classic, delicious, and hospitable opportunity to experience Louisbourg at its finest!
Had a great lobster dinner with a great bottle of local wine. Excellent service. Lobster season is short up here (two months).
Service was great. Food was wonderful and jazz playing on the stereo was cool. I highly recommend the shrimp and scallop flambe.
