We were in town from Hamilton and decided upon the Black Badger. We were not disappointed with our choice as both the food and service was rather excellent. In fact the fries were so good that I mentioned to the server that we would return just for them alone. I ordered the Steak 'n Mushroom Stuffed Yorkie. It came with tender chunks of braised beef smothered in tasty gravy and whole button mushrooms served inside a giant Yorkshire pudding. Homestyle mashed potatoes and broccolini rounded out the dish. The dish was an absolute winner as I devoured the entire thing. My wife ordered the Classic Burger and added Brie Cheese for an additional $2.99 which was worth every penny. A solid tasty patty served on a quality potato scallion bun. The accompanying fries were oh so good. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and moist inside. In my mind the perfect french fry. A side coleslaw for $1.99 we added and it was well worth it. It was the creamy variety and I knew just by looking at it that it was made in house. We both had colas to drink and the bill came to a very respectable $46. The service was very attentive and cheerful but not contrived. It was very genuine which goes a long way with me. We will definitely return despite the fact that we live 45 minutes away. Highly recommend the Black Badger. I promise that you will not be disappointed.
We were spending a few days in Cambridge, which, apparently isn't a common vacation destination. A cute town with many restaurants at different price points. We found the Black Badger and chose it because it looked fun and more like a local spot. Boy, were we right. A great choice for atmosphere and getting to know the locals. Our server gave us great advice on things to do nearby. Met the owner Tommy and his lovely wife as well as may Cambridgers. In fact, we decided to come back both nights for dinner, and as luck would have it, we made it for trivia night. Had a blast meeting new people, playing a good game and trivia and some great pub food. Thanks for having us and showing us the great Black Badger hospitality. While everything was tasty, I would pass on the hamburgers because apparently, they are required by law to make it well done! And because it was Canada, my wine was from the Wayne Gretzky estates! LOL. Tried to talk my husband into the Badger Platter, which is a pound of wings and a ridiculous amount of sides! But no such luck!
Very cool vibe, was very busy but was expected for a Friday night. Was surprised at how crammed we were at the table, there were 3 of us put at a table that was really for 2. Food was good!! Classic fish and chips and meatloaf.
