Ordered dinner from here for the first time and wasn’t disappointed. Got beef in black bean sauce, ginger beef and Singapore noodles. The portion size was generous, I was very happy with the amount of meat in each order (they didn’t skimp out). I enjoy a strong tasting Singapore noodle, however this one was lacking in curry flavor. Most Singapore noodles I have eaten have more of a curry punch and also spice! Besides that, I enjoyed my dishes and will be back to try their peking duck!
Live in Ranchlands and have tried Wok with Dave and Hawkwood Palace.. and Papa Shunde is by far superior in taste on all the dishes I ordered. Will definitely be back to try some more of there menu.

We get takeout from here probably twice a month. It's the best Chinese I've found in Calgary! The food is always fresh, delicious and authentic. Takeout is ready in 15-20 minutes or sooner. We've sat in once and the service was good.
Great place to eat! We had Hot&Sour soup and beef with Black bean sauce. Also tried their Peking Duck, seafood hot pot and beef hot plate. The last 2 amazing!
I definitely recommend this place and it's the best you can find in NW area. We have lots of Chinese places around and none of them come even close to this location. We live in Citadel Area, very close to this place.
And I think they are family owned and operated.
So yea 5 star for this place. No place is better around anyway
This is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants. Located next to a Husky Gas station, the spot is interestingly located but it is convenient in the NW for all the Asians that live up here.
The food comes out fresh and piping hot. The Ma Po Tofu is stellar and the salt and pepper seafood is crisped just right. The hot and sour soup is NOT overkilled with vinegar, the perfect balance. The Peking Duck is off the charts with the sweet sauce not being super thick like I've had elsewhere.
Would I go back? Don't mind if I do... :)
This is my first time here. The food is pretty traditional. Not as greesy as the other chinese places. The ingredient is fresh. We ordered a vegetable, fish, soup, and a pork dish. They all tasted really good. Definately go back and try more dishes.
I like their food, is pretty good and flavourful. It is a really small restaurant and if you are planning to go with a big group of people during dinner time, you should reserve ahead of time or you will be waiting for like 30 mins. They have a variety of dishes so you will always find something good for you. The restaurant can get pretty loud if it's full, as I said it is a very small restaurant and a lot of Chinese families go there. Overall is good for me, I will go there if I don't know where else to go because is good and close to where live.
My wife is celiac and the server and kitchen were incredible with their knowledge of the menu and what could be done gluten-free.
Obviously our selection was limited due to a lot of marinades and seasoning containing soy sauce or gluten, but we ended up having the duck lettuce wrap, 1/2 crispy skin chicken, water spinach with garlic, fried rice and steamed fish with ginger and scallions. My wife was ecstatic that she could enjoy authentic Chinese food in Calgary with no worries or issues.
Here's hoping there are more authentic Chinese restaurants in Calgary like Papa Shunde that can accommodate gluten-free needs, but for now Papa Shunde feels like the best and only option!
Great!. My family and I had chinese new year dinner here and had accidentally dropped a red pocket with money when we left. Our server (I believe his name is Ricky) could have easily kept the red pocket but he was very honest and gave us a call to return it. Thanks!!!!
