I love going here with friends. It's a nice place to go to if you just wanna play board games. It's pretty inexpensive considering you only pay per every hour you're there for. I always get the iced mocha while I'm playing too because I think it's pretty good. Overall it's good for friends/the whole family to go to.
The café is small on the inside, but there are a lot of board games that can be played there. The inside of the café looks clean and is nice on the inside. There's sandwiches sold at the café, and I had the chicken cranberry brie sandwich and it was delicious. The sandwich was toasted and tasted good. The iced matcha latte is delicious, as it was refreshing and had the right amount of matcha flavour in the beverage. It is $2.50 per person per hour to play board games. The prices of the food was alright and the café is lively. The service was good and friendly.
Great place to come play some board games with
friends. $2.50/hr per person and you just start a tab at the counter and grab a drink and snack and play away . All you do is settle your bill at the end. This place is very spacious and can accomadate a large group of ppl. Had fun playing a couple of new games today. Would definitely come back again.
Super fun! Looking around it looks like date night central. We showed up with another couple who also love board games. The cafe is comfy and spacious. The board game selection is AMAZING!! So many games it's almost impossible to choose. The price for sitting in to play a game is very affordable. Excellent coffee from Fratello. Also, the table snacks are super cool. Being able to buy a bowl of Jube jubes or chocolate almonds is perfect because we would never stock our house with those treats but, loved being able to have them as a surprise while playing games out. If you like coffee and board games you need to check this place out!
Genuinely one of the most incredible board game stores I have been to. They had the most extensive collection of alternative ttrpgs I've ever seen in person as well as board games with a wide range in price and topic depending on your budget or interest. Additionally, the staff member who helped me was incredibly friendly. Even though the store did not have exactly what I was looking for he was kind, knowledgeable and willing to help and I still ended up leaving with other games that I am sure I will love!
I love coming into this store!! Even though I don’t play D&D, War Hammer or etc I like to browse around because there is something for everyone from LOTR, Star Wars, Pokémon, MTGC and so much more. I like how they have classes and events held here like painting miniatures, LGBT game night and so much more.
The store is huge! They have anything you can think of, we primarily went to look at the Pokémon cards but there were so many other games and figurines too!
We visited Sentry Box for the first time over the weekend! The store is so cool! It’s larger than any game store we’ve ever seen. We were looking for a specific card game. They were sold out. But Renee, who helped us out, introduced us to a new game similar to the one we were wanting. She was knowledgeable and helpful! The other staff we interacted with were also fun, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back! Thanks for all the help!

The Sentry Box Games is well known in the community, but has also been covered by the news stations in Canada as being Canada's largest board game and games store. No video games per se, rather a handful of some retro/classic videos games, but primarily focused on table top (character) games and board games.
Very cool to check out.
Free parking in front.
An incredible shop but also a great place to socialize and join other events!
Besides the exhaustive catalog of available board games to buy, the thousands of miniatures to pain and the large collection of D&D books, dice and all, the shop offers their space on Monday for free board games sessions, but also during the week for D&D sesh, intro to miniature paintings and you can rent rooms for a small fee for your needs.
The place is *big* and beautifully decorated with many different themes, the people working there are really nice and helpful when it comes to finding a new boardgame to buy, and it's a great experience to get there.
Sentry Box has been my goto store for all things gaming since I was a teenager. Absolutely amazing selection of games and hobby supplies for miniature printers such as myself.
Customer service has been very good lately, the staff they have currently I have no complaints about. They have a fair loyalty points program as well.
They also do a lot of community gaming and drop in gaming as well as miniature painting drop ins. Check the calendar as it's always changing.
Definitely my absolute favorite hobby and gaming store in Canada!
As the spouse of one of the enthusiastic patrons of this establishment, let me give you a proper introduction to Sentry Box, one of the more remarkable hobby stores in Calgary. If you're looking for a spot to drop off the kids - er .. I mean .. husband .. look no further!
Upon entering, you find yourself in the expansive top floor of a sprawling room, teeming with an impressive variety of items. From bricks and paints decorating the walls, to posters and art capturing your attention - there's even Darth Vader himself (whispering from across the room - I can hear it in my soul! - 'I am your daddy".)
As you make your way downstairs, the space somehow expands even further. You navigate through seemingly endless aisles, where boxes filled with miniature army figurines, which are assembled and meticulously painted by grown men. Remember ladies, this hobby provides us women with countless hours of peace in our domestic haven. It is to be treasured.
As you immerse yourself in the vast selection of products before you, your senses come alive. The distant sound of someone clearing the mucus from their throat echoes from the neighboring aisle. In one corner, a man pleads for a bit of extra money this month, promising to exercise restraint in the following month. Among these, you'll find knee-high socks and pristine crocs that have never touched a speck of mud. Yet, amidst the sweat and faint aroma, there is an unmistakable aura of joy, hope, and vitality.
This establishment offers something that transcends boundaries, an experience that I wholeheartedly applaud. My sincere admiration goes out to the owners and all those who contribute to making this dream a reality for the nerds who walk among us all.
The selection of games and accessories is unlike anything I’ve seen before. I thought I went in knowing what to grab and ended up spending an hour browsing out of pure curiosity.
Staff was super nice about any questions I had as well.
If I am ever looking for a new board game this is the only place I will go. Amazing!
One of my favorite places in Calgary and the coolest, nerdiest store you'll ever visit! From casual boardgames to tabletop armies, it has almost anything you could want -- or imagine.
