A genuine taste of Italy.... Ma Kettle and I happened upon this place purely by accident a couple of months ago. We had been shopping at Bianca Amor, a discount dollar store, and as we started to pull out of the parking lot, we noticed the sign. The location was previously another cafe, so we were a tad surprised to see the name change.
We didn't expect much to be honest, but as foodies, we had to stop and give it a try. Upon entry, we were greeted by a wonderful aroma, and a certain feeling of warmth. The tables are covered in plastic red checkered table cloths (I know, but it works), and are placed far enough apart to allow for ease of conversation. There is a chalkboard above the cashier which describes the various dishes available, plus a number of takeout menus for future reference. Bruno (the owner), always has a special of some sort, which is chosen daily, depending upon his mood at the time.
Ma and I lived in Italy for three years, and return on holiday annually. We can attest to the authenticity of Bruno's creations. Many of the dishes are of Southern Italian influence, which translated, means more flavour, more spices (but not hot or over powering either), and simply leaves you wanting more. The bread and pizza dough is made from scratch early each morning, and the fresh baked buns are a vital part of the fantastic Panini sandwiches enjoyed by those craving a meatball or Genoa creation. Question the waiter, and see if a bowl of sauce could be ordered as a side to dip your panini into. I guarantee the first dip will bring a smile to your face.
The pizza is great, relatively inexpensive...ranging from $8.50-$12.00 for small, and $14.00-$$19.00 for large, and include a crust you'd rather consume than leave behind. The pasta is made to order, with Bruno's own sauce. We have gone a few times now, and have yet to be disappointed, either with pizza or pasta. We would return anytime, and frequently tell friends and family about our find. I have never given any restaurant a 10 out of 10 (except Monki), but am pleased to suggest this casual eatery ranks a 10 for originality and darn good tasting food.
Bottega Trattoria is licensed, and open for lunch daily from 11am-2:30 Mon-Fri, and dinner from 5pm-9pm Wed thru Sat. His hours are still in flux, so best to ask upon your first visit. No dress regulations are enforced here. Bring a smile, and an appetite.
This was amazing. I came to this location assuming it was still the chat and chew but to my surprise it was not. I checked out the menu and was pleased with the selection and price. The staff were super friendly and answered all my questions with a smile. The food was amazing and came out really fast. I will be coming back again shortly.
