Had the satay beef vermicelli with spring rolls. Was pretty good. Service is pretty quick but the staff all love shouting at each other in Vietnamese which can get annoying fast. They really don't seem to understand English well either so would avoid here if you had questions for them related to allergies.

Good value, pleasant atmosphere and good food. They have daily lunch specials - pho noodle soups and vermicelli dishes - that come with spring rolls or salad rolls. Great location for those who live in the area.

This is ouro to place when we're in the south part of Calgary. Decent prices and good food. Broth is usually a bit salty but not too bad.
Outstanding!. We LOVE Shawnessy Vietnamese restaurant. The service is simply superb and the food is outstanding. Shawnessy Vietnamese has, bar none, the best salt and pepper squid you'll ever find. It's deliciously flavourful, crispy on the outside, and tender and sweet on the inside. Another favorite for us is the Lemongrass Chicken on Rice Vermicilli. The soups are wonderful on a cold winter day. Service is fast, friendly and a trip to SV for lunch is always a highlight of the day!
Great food everytime. Been here quite a few times with my BF. Food is always great. Haven't had a bad meal there yet. Prices are great, and service is exactly how it always is in a vietnamese restaurant.
Always dine in, never take out. So can't comment on that.
Environment is wonderful. They don't play any of that crappy music you get stuck with everywhere else. The wall color is a little weird for us, but otherwise no complaints.
Generally very clean with friendly staff.
Will definitely be back many more times

A lunchtime Favorite with work Collegues. I'm surprised to read so many negitive reviews, however, I have only gone at lunchtime and I've only ordered the lunch specials, so that's what I'll review today.
Our services is always good, we have been seated right away and they've been able to accomidate larger parties (we once had 8 people).
Their lunch specials are hot and fast, I used to order the spring rolls with the spring roll beef bowl. I do love those spring rolls, always hot and delicious. Latey I've been staying away from fried foods so I've ordered the salad rolls and Chicken Pho. The salad rolls are ok, I could do with less noodles in them and more veggies, but tasty none the less. The Pho is so good, just the perfect amount of spice and full of noodles, chicken, onions or cilantro (I prefer cilantro), and beanspouts, basil and lime on the side to add myself. I bet I've never waited longer than 10 minutes for my meal, and that's only because other people in my party order something off the menu.
It's a favorite of my co-workers because we get in an out and back to work within an hour.

Awes-NAM. I'm a regular, loyal customer here and I would like to thank the owner for bringing in his sons to work for him. I believe it is his sons, because they look like him, but friendlier, asking "how are you?" and consistently "asking if we needed anything else?". First off, his sons are very polite and energetic. This creates a the atmosphere of this place. I would always wait for one of them to take my order, as i know they will get it right, and promptly. There was this one time, a elderly women with children walked in, the place was PACKED, but one of them was still able to help the lady of five, with booster seat through the maze. I witness everytime i'm here,, that when anyone orders for a event/occassion, they will glady assist you to your car, or offer to open the door for you. This has been the best upgrade by far. However, the down side of the upgrade, is the man who walks funny, he is very rude, talks on his phone 24/7 at the till, and always, and i mean always, forgets to bring either the fishsauce or the drinks. Overall, the upgrades overbalances the downside.
Soon to be along time customer.. This was my first time having dinner at Shawnessy Vietnamese and it definitely will not be my last. I'm a big fan of Vietnamese cusine, and Shawnessy Vietnamese defines truly authentic Vietnamese food. I ordered the house special fried rice that was unbelievable! The price even made it better. The friendly staff is an addition to this amazing restaurant. I definitely recommend this restaurant
Near Chapter's. I happened to be in Chapter's when I seen this restaurant out of the corner of my eye. I had the Shrimp and Sliced Pork with salad in Rice wrapper. This is best I have found since I left Texas. They were simply incredible. I also had a bowl of Wonton Soup, huge portion. I was very impressed. Reading some of the other reviews, I did notice only 1 waiter working that weekday afternoon. I never noticed how long it took to get served but I think it was only a few minutes. Later, I found out my friends go there all the time. Even with a wait the food is well worth it. I will be going back, again.
