I really enjoy the sauté soup.. peanuty.. a lil spicy... and HUGE!! That seems to be something they actually care about, I find the service to be sub par. Refills are almost non existent and the other plates I have tried here just don't stand out. If you want a good pho, this place should deliver, providing that's all you want!
One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary if not the best. Service is superb and the food is delicious. The place is clean and nice. It's my go to for lunch when I need some comfort food. I highly recommend their beef sate soup. 😍
I really enjoy the place- I always love the food here, great atmosphere, quick and welcoming service! I love the spring rolls and the curry too!
It's definitely a go to for Vietnamese in this city.
I've had spring rolls in restaurants across Canada and this place does my favourite. Nice and crispy exterior that's almost buttery without being greasy and the pork filling has this nice peppery flavour with maybe a touch of ginger. It's tops, folks. Try them with the charbroiled pork on vermicelli for a classic combo. Phó here is good too esp. the beef sate stuff. Also service is fast and friendly .
Hey guys! My next few posts will be through my journeys over a week in Calgary visiting my sister, so here we go! Does pho in Calgary translate well from the west coast? Read on to find out about Bagolac Saigon . Food: I came here with Team Fam and I ordered a Pho Tai Gan (Vietnamese noodles with rare beef and tendon) and an Avocado Shake . First off, the broth here is pretty good, albeit a little oily. The pho comes with the usual suspects of onions, scallions, and green onions and overall I would liken it to something like Thai Son ; very middle of the pack. Large Pho Tai Gan The Avocado Shake was pretty good. It was a little lacking in colour and I’m not sure if that’s just the avocado situation here or if it’s just flavouring. Overall I thought the food was an average case of pho but it was very filling having the two in the same meal. Avocado Shake Features: This is a giant pho restaurant minutes away from Chinook Centre that could probably host about a 100 guests . Washrooms were quite clean and the lighting made this feel like a finer dining kind of restaurant. Inside Bagolac Saigon Service: Service was good here. Our waitress took our order and food started coming out in under 10 minutes which is standard among Vietnamese restaurants. The Avocado Shake took about 20 minutes to come which was good timing in terms of me finishing my pho but I also gave myself a brain freeze drinking it too quickly. Oops! One-liner: The go-to for pho around Chinook Centre Highlight: Pho Tai Gan Recommended for: Pho lovers pooped after a day of shopping Would I go back? Yes. Bagolac Saigon Photoset
LOVE the Wor Wonton Soup here! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating and the soup is always delicious!
Not too shabby. I remember eating at Bagolac years ago, but haven't returned since (rarely in the area).
On Sat. morning, after stopping by Chuckles, we decided to it was lunch time and Bagolac was close by, so off we went. It was around 11:30 am, so it wasn't too busy.
Upon entering Bagolac, a waitress just happened to walk by, asked us how many (2), and was seated promptly with menus. A short time later our drinks arrived.
The menu is extensive, there are many different things to try at Bagolac.
We started out with an appy, shrimp salad rolls. Since we were both hungry, the appy arrived very quickly; there were 3 rolls on the plate, but they were thoughful enough to cut them in half. It was ok, lacking shrimp though. However, I can't see how you can screw up salad rolls as the ingredients are minimal to begin with.
I stuck with my usual favourite at any Vietnamese restaurant, which is a rice dish - #105 to be exact, rice, shredded pork charbroiled pork, and 2 fried eggs (the meal also came with veggies, shredded lettuce and 2 slices of cucumbers).
I have to say, food service is lightning quick. After we were done with our appy, the hot food came shortly after.
My meal came out hot, and nicely arranged on the square plate. I liked the shredded pork/charbroiled pork, the shredded tasted fresh (it was elasticity rather than dry, good !) and the charbroiled was moist and tender. The fried egg was sunny side up, with crispy 'burnt' edges. I took the yolks and broke it over the rice, and it made for a delicious combo when mixed with the fish sauce.
I tried a little morsel of beef from my companion's beef pho, and I enjoyed the tenderness of the beef, however the soup based had a unique (slight sweetness to it) flavour.
Overall, the interior was quite elegant for a Vietnamese restaurant, coupled with our friendly waitress and lightning quick food service, we'll be back.
Love it!. Best Vietnamese food in Calgary! Really nice decor!
Love the Vietnamese beef stew noodle soup, the meat is tender and delicious and the soup tasty. Modern place, good prices. In general, I'd recommend it.
Love This Place!. I go here at least once every week. Typically I order the #52 (sate beef soup), but everything on their menu is delicious. Fantastic service and terrific food.
Really like the pho here. The one I am talking about is #52 on the menu. Satay Beef Pho. The serving is a big size, and the broth is amongst the tastiest. Unfortunately the service is pretty bad. Good soup though!
Food is great. No complaints there. Only falter is the service which can be anywhere between bad and pathetic with occasions where it seems like you are being avoided.
#53 - best sate chicken pho I've ever had. Been coming here for years and servers also remember mine, and my husband's orders. Once the staff gets to know you - they treat you like family.
Im suprised on the bad reviews. Its always tasty. One of my favourite places for beef sate and service is always friendly. Maybe I just go on the good ddays but have never had a bad experiene

Really excellent pho. Good spice. Rich and creamy.
Classy simple clean decor.
Server was polite and prompt.
Surprised by the poor reviews... I am fully Addicted to the Vietnamese Beef Stew, plenty of tender hunks of meat in a rich flavorful broth. It came Highly recommended to me from a friend and the staff. Have to agree that the Pad Thai was disappointing, it doesnt seem authentic.
Ultimate Vermicelli Bowl and Avocado Shake. The pho here is average. However, I keep coming back here for two great reasons. The Ultimate Vermicelli Bowl which is jam packed with tasty goodness and their Avocado shakes. They make the BEST avocado shakes I have ever had, HOWEVER, the shake is slightly different each time I go. Sometimes it's too slushy but most of the time, it's absolutely delicious. If you've never had and Avocado Shake before, you are missing out and this place is definitely a great place to give one a try.
Fortunately, I didn't get to experience any of the horror stories posted below. I ordered the Pho sate and avocado shake. The soup was hot, spicy and had good flavour. The beef IMO, was the highlight as it was tender and very flavourful. To top it off, it came out in under five minutes from order (as it should). The shake, while good, could do without the vanilla ice cream. I felt service was good as my waitress asked me if everything was alright while I was eating, which I've never been asked at any Asian restaurant. So while I felt the food was good, it certainly didn't justify the $18 dollars (with tip) I paid for just the two items.
Gone Downhill. My parents and I go here once in awhile as a treat to ourselves. The last time we went I ordered the Pad Thai and was quite disappointed to say the least. I felt that my food was made for someone else who changed their mind, and they just kept it under the heat lamp until someone ordered it. It was crunchy and old, not the wonderful dish I had before. To top it off, I paid in cash and the waiter took my money and ran off the floor with my change! He stole my money for a tip! Needless to say I will be paying with credit or debit and never cash. This was the only time I have had a bad experience, but I found that it was a big damper on my opinion of the staff and food.
Rice!. If you order rice, here mmmmh it is so filling and huge, the place is nice and i noticed lunch has alot of police officers eatting here as well.
Whenever i want vietnamese and i'm by Chinook Mall, This is where's its at !!
Amazing food! All these bad reviews? Really?. Some people must HATE this place, but I love it... I have never liked an ethnic restaurant so much as to go on average once a month (I eat out MAYBE twice a month)
The food is great, the restaurant is beautiful, the price is right (no more than a dive downtown), and you know what? If you expect GREAT service... go to somewhere that doesn't charge $10 for a meal... I don't write pissy reviews about mcdonalds cause the lettuce was more in the box than on my big mac. lol
The pho sate (beef) is a religious experience. Spicy, sour, and hits every spot on your tongue! The bowl is huge, but you'll finish every last bit!
A - List. Highly Recommended. Exceptional Food. Clean Modern Functional Decor. Friendly, Prompt Service. Large Portions. Largest Bowl of Soup I Have Seen. This is a gem. Skip the food court at Chinook Mall, walk across the street and enjoy real food.
My Favourite. I've been a regular at Bagolac since 1999 and while on occasion the service is slow, I continue to go back because the dishes are incredibly good. I have never had an experience with a waitress demanding a tip at this restaurant. As for the food, I've yet to find a place that does the beef sate soup as good as Bagolac. The spring rolls are tasty, and pretty much any other dish I've had there was flavorful and enjoyable. I recommend it.
Great. It is a great spot me and my friends drive all the way down from NW sometimes to got there
A bit of an industrial strip mall but a great restaurant; definitely one I would visit again.
The service at Bagolac was excellent. She came by and refilled our water and made sure everything was okay. The food came out quick and hot. We did have to wait ten mins for a table, and they were busy on a Saturday night. All in all, if I am in the Chinook area, I would definitely drop by for a bite.
