Great ramen without msg in the soup base. The noodles are chewy and bouncy. The gyoza and karaage (deep fried chicken) are superb. Curry brisket is very rich and tender. Go try it, you won't be disappointed!!

Fantastic ramen. Unlike any other ramen broth I have ever had and I have had ramen in almost every major city in Canada and the U.S. as well as Tokyo.

Complex and rich with a touch of fishiness. Unctuous on the tongue. The Chassu and eggs were perfectly done and the noodles are well textured.

If you are wanting a "standard" ramen. Don't go here. If you are willing to try something different, this may be your place.

Other items are fairly standard and good. Location isn't great for business but because of that you will never need reservations and parking will not be an issue! Service, location and decor don't matter to me. My rating is based solely on the quality and uniqueness of the Ramen.

Still one of the consistently better ramen places in Calgary. Chicken Karaage is moist, while Tsukemen dipping sauce is very concentrated and deep. Cha Siu is also caramelized nicely.

Delicious ramen but a limited variety - only 3 wet and 2 dry. Must get more variety to be a full 5 stars! Other than that, the food was delicious and table seating spacious. Gagana is actually owned by those who own Gagana Ramen in Japan and their wet ramen is served lukewarm, pretty sure how it is in Japan so people can eat fast - still delish though! Check this hidden gem out!

If you have not tried this not-so-busy ramen place, you should! There is finally consistency with its food quality in the last couple of months. Why line up elsewhere if you don't mind driving a few more minutes to this restaurant close to the Deer Foot Mall. I love their #1 and #3 with no MSG but tasty soups. Their chicken bits and dumplings are my favourites as well. Their Japanese tea is the best in town (price and quality wise) and it goes well with the ramen. Decor is so so but we got good and friendly service.

If you like a more authentic tasty broth and thicker chewy noodles, this is the place to go to.   Really can't complain about much, it's a hit on all fronts: noodles were good, broth was good, meat was good, service was good.  Usually I find most other ramen places have 2 out of the 3 good, noodles, broth, or meat.  I guess the only knock on this place would be the interior but it's ramen and not fine dining so I'm not going to detract it from the rating.

I visited Gagana for the first time this evening with my family and 14 month old baby. The location was very easy to find, even with the road construction. First impression of the space is that it was clean and very spacious. We had one employee doting on us the entire time as the host and server. He was very accommodating and kind to my Grandmother (as well as the rest of our party of 8). I ordered the Pork Rice Bowl to share with my kiddo. B was beginning to get hangry but the food came out very quickly. Our portion was huge, especially for the price. B gobbled down lots of rice and the pork was perfectly tender for him too. I really enjoyed the flavours. Again, our server was amazing making sure everyone's needs were met, dishes were cleared, tea/water was always full. My family members each ordered soup ramen and one dipping ramen. Everyone had good things to say about their dishes and there were no leftovers. I agree with the other reviews claiming that the noodles were a bit chewy. As much as I love ramen, I'm no expert on cooking it so I wonder if maybe that's how they do it in the region of Japan where they're from. The menu is small, which is good for someone like me who doesn't do too well with too many options. I think they only do a handful of things, but do them very well. The soup is marketed as made without salt or MSG, it was good and felt guilt-free. (Even though I ordered a rice dish, I tried some of my Mom's ramen). I later saw a table marker advertising udon. I love udon, will have to try the next time I'm in.

Unfortunately I did not take a photo - which is really not like me. We ordered through skipthedishes. The food came hot and nicely packed. The spicy miso ramen was incredibly spicy more than anything we have had before. I tried the dipping ramen which was nice. The meat and noodles were definitely a hit. I would like to try in house next time !

The only tsukemen in Calgary. They could lighten up on the noodle strength. The noodle is too thick so the dip doesn't soak in well. Well it's still better than nothing.

First time trying, they're a franchise from Japan. Very well flavoured broth, the Ramen was a little tough though.... but the meat is tender and bang on! Egg was done well, just wished it was flavoured. Will return :)

This is one of my favorite ramen joints. I've been to so many in Calgary in search for good ramen and I would have to say this is one of the top spots on my list. It's a small menu but the quality of the soups and portion size for price especially is amazing. I love the spicy ramen soup and the dipping noodles ramen is the best of its kind that I've had in Calgary. The broth for the spicy ramen is rich and flavorful and has almost a creaminess to it. It actually has a kick of spice which is great because I find the heat often lacks in other ramen restaurants for their spicy ramen soups. The cabbage in their dishes also adds a nice contrast in texture to the noodles. Service is also very prompt, courteous, and warm. Only negative is its not the nicest restaurant but I'm not bothered based on the price for such good food.
