Good food and ambiance. Loved the place. The staff could be better but they were definitely above the baseline. This place is right next to Calgary Tower, so a great place for travelers in general, and definitely for Indians.
We went for Potato Stuffed Paratha, a Garlic Naan, a Butter Naan, Raita, Kashmiri Pilau Rice, Dal Tadka and Masala Chai. Everything was great, especially the Dal Tadka - bloody amazing. Naans were good and soft. The Parantha was okay. The Masala Chai was the main reason we were looking for an Indian restaurant in the area. However, it was just okay. Overall, a good thumbs up to the place. They also had a buffet which was closed when we went, so that might be good to explore.
The staff was good but towards the end, they seemed to have left us - nobody attending. So, essentially for clearing the table and for the check, we had to chase them since we were getting late.
Have been here couple times for the lunch buffet and it's never been that busy and there are tons of tables. $16.95 All you can eat lunch buffer. Lots of choices for dishes and they are all very good. Don't waste your time with salad, go for the entree with rice and Naan bread. There is also a small selection of desserts.
I was in charge of picking a restaurant for a work-related lunch. I suggested Maharajah because it’s close to work and the buffet means we can get in and out in a timely fashion. The exterior is nothing to look at, which was why I was surprised to see a spacious interior and decorative touches. I particularly liked the chandeliers dangling from the ceilings.
Good non veg food and deserts. I went there for buffet lunch and the food was good. On that day, they had prepared keema matar, butter chicken and tandoorI chicken in the non veg and I found Keema matar best among these 3. There were several items in the deserts as well, so good place for a person with sweet tooth.
This was our first time ordering from here (first time trying this place actually). We had a slight mix up with our order but it was sorted out quickly and they called as a follow up to ensure everything was corrected. That was appreciated by us as it seems few places do that anymore. The food was excellent, delicately spiced. Every flavour of each spice danced on our tongues, much to our hungers delight. We will definately be ordering more curries from here.
My new fav Indian restaurant. My husband and I were here this past Saturday night. Hands down the friendliest and most attentive service we've had at any of the local Indian restaurants we've dined at. The food was great and we thought the prices were really reasonable. Really easy parking as well. We will be dining here often!
Lunch buffet very tasty. Service very good.
A Fine Ruler of Your Senses!. I have become a regular at this establishment - their lunch buffet is fabulous at a very reasonable price (be sure to book a reservation or it will be hard to get a table. Worse case scenario is that you can take your buffet selections to go) and their dinner offerings make this a great place to dine at before taking in a show. Fragrant, tender and delicately spiced, their Goa Fish curry is an amazing dish that leaves you wanting more of it. Their knack for using only fresh ingredients leaves you feeling satisfied, without that bloated and uncomfortable feeling some East Indian restaurants leave behind, and it is very common to find business meals taking place both at lunch and in the evening. Also, a big score is that I was able to bring in my very young son in his stroller. Great food, great on accessibility, and the service is prompt and pleasant. Can't ask for anything more!
Completely satisfying Indian Experience !. This tucked away Indian palace close to City Hall and Olympic Plaza has brought out the best in downtown Indian cuisine. I have been to so many Indian places and have a good idea of what to eat and expect. This place definitely has it all --ambience, service, food, and decor.
As you walk in you will immediately admire the wonderful mirrors and tables that surround you. The service is very friendly and for those who needs to complain about water not coming around enough, well here you will be watered up fast.
For the several times I ate here already, all have been a pleasant experience. I generally admire my lamb dishes, so I did order that here. I remember a few months back when I tried the lamb chops and they were done so nicely. They were tender and the flavors were empowering. The organization of the plate was also delicately prepared. I believe I ordered a wonderfully spiced chai tea to go along with the lamb. It was so nice.
Most recently I tried the Lamb Shahi Kurma. What I noticed about this dish first is the color and thickness of the Kurma sauce over the lamb. The boldness and color did really add an element to the experience. The sauce was not too thick (just enough for you to feel some volume) and was just the right consistency. Then you will admire the aroma from the dish. And, of course the chai tea again.
As long as I am near this Indian paradise, they will see me. Great place, great food. A +
