Jhon is an excellent chef - and I have enjoyed his cooking for years. This place is a hidden jem in Calgary. Go enjoy shopping at the farmer's marken - then drop by the Kaffir Lime - it will be a great treat.
Jhon is a fantastic chef and makes the best Indonesian food outside Indonesia. Very authentic and so delicious. Definitely go to Kingsland Market and try it out.
This place is amazing. At kingsland farmers market food is very tasty and portion are good for the price. All in all its really quite good. All the dishes that i have troed are good.
After reading reviews by John Gilchrist and Avenue magazine this was an ethic treat I endeavoured to experience. Having never tried Indonesian food I wasn't sure what to expect - all I can say is .... I can't wait to go back ! The flavours were aromatic, tasty and had a bold finish with each bite. We shared a few dishes family style - the lamb and beef were better than the top tier restaurants I have been to in the past! It's mind blowing how Jaun the chef works in an area no bigger than a condo balcony, and puts out elite level cooking. Someone sign this guy up for Masterchef! I can honestly say Kaffir Lime hit all the marks on food, quality, presentation and overall value. Thanks for an amazing meal!
Had their beef satay w peanut sauce. Great presentation, price, and layers of flavor. The beef was a bit tough but the peanut sauce compensated. I had to ask for seconds on the hot sauce. Best I've ever had!
First time having Indonesian food, & I am now a Fan! Will be coming again soon because I'm always craving the flavours! Too bad its "hidden" and are only opened thurs-sunday till 5pm. Otherwise i think I'd be coming often! They also give generous amount & you only spend $9+ This place is totally worth it!!!
Serious flavor!. The gado gado is outstanding! Keeps me coming back again and again.
Great lunch. I've been here twice now for the gado gado
It is wonderful
Delicious spin on Indonesian with some local touches. First, it's really petty and wrong that people who are obviously affiliated with the only other Indonesian place in Calgary feel compelled to write negative reviews about Kaffir Lime. So they really want there to be only ONE Indonesian resto in town?
But as to Kaffir Lime- I love it. I've tried other places in Kingsland and keep coming back. Their gado-gado is, it is true, not traditional but that's because they use some of the lovely greens that are available from KFM vendors to make it actually more interesting and flavourful than a trad one. Their beef rendang is to die for and the accompanying rice is perfect.
Fantastic Food. This might be the best kept secret in Calgary. I am a regular at Kaffir Lime and quite frankly if the market was open more often I would be there several times a week. Great slow cooked meals that are made from scratch without the instant food approach that is very common out there. You will not go wrong with any choice on the menu. The rice and salad are also perfect additions to the dishes with the best salad dressing ever. Every single friend who has gone to try it (SAIT cooking instructors) agrees.
Delicious! We had the gulag chicken with rice and a salad. The flavones were all fresh and perfectly balanced. Would definitely eat here again. These guys know what they're doing!
There's only two Indonesian places in Calgary, and I'd have to say Kaffir Lime has the best Rendang in Calgary! It's a small hidden restaurant in the farmer's market, but I was very happy with the taste. Wish more menu items were offered, but I understand with the small size. I'll definitely be coming here again!
Addicted to this place. Pricey, but where else can you get really delicious indonesian curries like this? Junion is the man.
This was an amazing hidden gem on Mcleod. The place is hard to find it is inside the Market on Mcleod on the west side on Mcleod Tr SW. Great food, friendly place! Check it out!
Edit: came back here twice and both the servings and service has been top notch.
is a bit expensive and servings could be larger but it's very authentic.
Looking for a nice Sunday lunch. I recommend coming here and try the beef randdow
Love the curries and rendang here. Always friendly staff.
Good food but too crowded for me
