Best place for ice cream if you're looking for variety! I opted for the oreo milkshake and j have no complaints, love my oreo. Despite how busy it was, the service was pretty quick and friendly staff.
Ok this place is in a great neighborhood, it's an old business and has tons of interesting flavor. But the service is weird. I asked if one flavor was "tart" and he didn't know what that meant. One other server hadn't tried that flavor which is odd for an ice cream shop. They also served me a regular cone when I paid for a waffle cone.
I love how the employees wear the old pin-striped uniforms. The shop is super cute and rustic inside, and the number of ice cream flavours are boundless. The ice cream is your typical ice cream and nothing too exotic. It's a great place to feel like a kid again with flavours you grew up with. I had the mango tango because I wanted to try something different - it didn't taste like mango at all, just sweet. I'll probably stick to the flavours I know next time I return.
This is truly my favourite ice cream shop! The wide selection they have is so awesome you can never get bored! My favourite flavour is the burgundy cherry and their ice cream tastes great and not too overwhelming. I love the entertainment during the summer!
Awesome ice cream place in the South! very old school decor inside. There is over 50 different flavours of ice cream. definitely is great place to check out.
Sometimes there is a pianist that plays the piano in the middle of the shop.
There is some parking in front of the shop, but most on the street.
How it works: you go up to the counter to pay for the cone you would like and then take the receipt to the people that scoops them. You are also able to try the flavour before getting it.
I finally got to try this place! So many flavours to choose from. I chose green tea flavour because I wasn't feeling something too sweet and it was perfect. Ice cream was soft and perfectly rich. I would like to try blueberry cheese cake next time. Such a cute place. There is a park right next to it so you can go for a walk with your ice cream.
My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe is one of those places that takes you back to the nostalgic, good ‘ol days. With 72 flavours of ice cream (not including gelato), there’s something for everyone at this old school ice cream shoppe. Heck, they’ve been open since 1981 (that’s almost 35 years!) and with another location, sounds like they’re doing well for themselves.
Another tried and true ice cream shop in Calgary. The venue is adorable with live music on occasions, and the selection of ice cream is wall to wall. MFICS offers some unique and flavours you don't see at our other Calgary favourites, like Nanaimo bar, Rolo, Salted choco caramel, Blueberry cheese cake, Cherry custard, Jamaican grapenut and even Candy floss... Your tastebuds will thank you for making the trip to this fine establishment! Just don't listen to your waistline! Comes up from this kid. :)
Cute ice cream shopped tucked behind Marda Loop. Variety of flavours, reminding like the old style ice cream shops. The ice cream wasn't super iced up but soft enough to have a good texture.
I first came here in 1997. I was 9 and living in the Currie Barracks, and I absolutely loved coming here for special treats. I was so happy to discover the ice cream shop still open over a decade later, and it hasn't changed a bit. The selection is great, and the shop itself is adorable
