We enjoyed a lazy weekday lunch at the Blackbird. As a new establishment, the decore matched the other deep south suburban pubs with pleasant tones and seating. The atmosphere is bright and airy with plenty of windows which is nice. A patio is available to enjoy a pleasant day. Our server was attentive and efficient. She ticked off all the expected boxes but didn't add to a memorable experience. We tried the brewpub beer 2515 which was inoffensive and reasonable at $6.50 a pint. I enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich, but resented having to pay an extra $1 for a salad substitute or $2 for a Caesar salad substitute. There were other options as well - all at a premium to the bucket of fries that come at no cost. Don't make me pay extra for a healthy option thank you very much. It really costs an extra buck for a few shreds of lettuce? In any case the Caesar I chose was better than many places. My friend enjoyed his chicken sandwich, proclaiming that it was much better than he had expected. Typical lunch options are in the $15 to $18 range. There are a few pubs I might pick over the Blackbird, but it seems like a pretty solid contender.
Good food here. It takes a while to come out of the kitchen but at least you know it is made fresh. Enchiladas are a favourite. Love the interior and it has a nice atmosphere. They also have a good selection of beer.
Came here Saturday morning for brunch with friends. Wasn't busy but the kitchen took a long time to get food out. Drinks were good. Waitress was nice but didn't check in nearly enough. Never asked us how our food was. Benedict hardly had any hollandaise on it yet my bfs Benedict was swimming in hollandaise. The micro greens with tomato on top was very good though. Potato chip side was bland. Not sure if I'll be back.
Update: their dinner menu is far better than their brunch. Haven't been disappointed with that menu yet and have come back multiple times.
