It wasn't busy but I felt there was a lull in service, but mainly because of a large table that was there. I ordered the duck confit and thought it was quite flavourful. A bit tough but still yummy. My husband ordered the short Ribs and it was tender but lacked a bit of flavour. I thought it was just ok. The mash potatoes tasted better. I had a glass of white wine and it was delicious! The dessert was off the mark. The apples were not sweet nor tart, the crisps felt burnt and dried. The server was nice enough to remove it off our bill. I'd come back as this restaurant has been here for a long time and we always come for a special date.

Great food and good atmosphere. I got the duck confit for lunch. The meat is so soft, yet the skin is so crispy. Well seasoned, not too salty. Got soup the jour as well, which is carrot soup with some hint of ginger and, I belive it was, cilantro. Amazing!

Accompanied by my mother, we dined at the AVEC Bistro on New Years Eve. Charming waitress, delicious french food, and a great selection of wine. Very nice decor.

The service was great and atmosphere was warm. However, the quality of food is severely under par considering the price your paying. The burger I got was underwhelming and I think A&W is better. The risotto was a pink slob of tasteless oatmeal. The short rib was drier than beef jerky. Wouldn't go back.

I was at Avec Bistro for Big Taste Calgary and I enjoyed the food and drinks very much. The service was prompt and our server was also very knowledgeable, kind and patient. I would of rated 5 stars, but it was a set menu so I wasn't able to look at their full menu. Nevertheless, I recommend eating here for either a date or business meeting. The setting is very calming, quiet yet classy without being overly formal.

The pork belly was phenomenal! Our waiter was super nice and we felt that our table was looked after the whole time we were there - almost 3 hours. The space is versatile, it's good for small size groups, date night or just drinks at the bar. Definitely try it

They definitely get 5 stars for service and ambience, but 3 for menu variety and 2 for the actual food. I am not a huge fan of pork but everything on the menu had that word on it, including the chef's specials with the exception of a Halibut dish. For appetizer we ordered a pork platter and it was simply ok, nothing outstanding or terrible about it. The entree is really what my review is all about.... I ordered the steak and although the meat was really great, the white, creamy, totally blend sauce that it was topped with, ruined it COMPLETELY. After eating I felt a bit sick and did not have any desire to even try a dessert. I played it safe and just had a glass of muscat.
Based on this particular dinner experience I would never go back but I have friends that love this restaurant and to be fair, the service was exceptional. In a group setup I suppose I would give it a second try.
