I was there last night for Oysters after a long 10 hour day of work. I was greeted and sat right away and the oyster special for the day was awesome, I ate 36 myself and the lemon pepper calamari, service was excellent as always, it's been 3 years since I've been here and am always impressed with the food and service, highly recommend to anyone

Great place! Just popped in for oysters and a glass of wine before attending a concert at the Dome. Highly recommend it. It was a little inconvenient to access because of road work on 17th Ave., but that's out of their control and it was still the well worth it! Will definitely go there again.
Awesome Raspberry Point and Fanny Bay oysters! The vanilla ice cream with the GF banana bread was out of this world! Great service as well, our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable of GF options in the menu. Great experience overall!
I really enjoyed my whole experience. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the oyster platter and a bottle of wine. The Lobster tail on angel hair pasta was fantastic as well as the duck confit. We will be back again!
Regular pre Saddledome stop and it never disappoints. Oysters are always outstanding and fresh. Specials are great and they cook fish better than anyone else. Good choice of draft and a great wine list. Service is top notch (hello Greg!) and the bang for the buck is solid. Permanent customers/fans.

My fav place for oysters! Main dishes ate always good. The lobster on angel hair pasta is the best.
Food was amazing and service was fantastic! I would recommend this place to everyone and we will for sure be going back again!!!!
Service was awesome as usual, food was great and the oysters were the best I've ever had (in Calgary). Love Embarcadero!!
We love all of the food at Embarcadero! Great place for a date night.
Great oysters and knowledgable/friendly staff! Will be back :)
Awesome! Great atmosphere, food and service. Definitely will be back.
It was quiet when I went but it seems like it can be very lively and fun when it’s full. I didn’t try a lot of the menu mostly oysters. That’s why people come here of course and I can see why. The oysters were fresh and there were lots of choices. I tried the lobster cakes as well and wouldn’t recommend them, too chewy for my liking. The service was good. The wine list was very average.
I’d return for more oysters though.
Went for oysters and wine a while back. That's all I eat usually here! It's super fresh and there are always daily specials. I give it 5 stars BC it's the best oyster bar in Calgary imo.
Came here for the 2016 big taste. There is a good menu selection. I ordered the seafood linguine, stuffed mushroom and cheesecake for the three course meal. The linguine has a good amount of seafood but there wasn't enough flavor. My friend ordered the lamp chop and it was over cooked for him. The dessert and oyster was fine but the best part of the meal is the bread!!! The bread was friggin amazing... Perhaps I was that hungry? Maybe because bread is always good? Perhaps they juiced it with a hidden secret ingredient? Heck, it might even be those cheap ones that comes in packages of 20 that they just heated in the oven. Who cares! It was da bomb. The heavenly warmth of the white gluttonous blob glistening with the whipped butter you just spread melts in your mouth... And BAM next thing you know you already are 3 more...yum.
We came here Sunday night to celebrate my partner's birthday. We called to make reservations and we actually arrived early and they seated us right away.
Ordered a dozen oysters, half Paradise from BC and the other half Irish Point from PEI. I prefer the west coast. All the oysters come with the garlic, chilli topping which really enhanced the flavours of the oysters
I ordered the half rack of lamb and he ordered the seafood bowl. The rack of lamb did not disappoint! Ordered to medium rare and it was so moist and flavourful. I should've just ordered a full rack. The waitress convinced me otherwise (probably for the best). The seafood bowl had lots and lots of seafood and it was good but maybe need a little extra salt
Finished off with their house made tiramisu which was really dense and delicious.
I would really like to come back and try more oysters.
Parking is all on the street and it is actually across street from the casino. I love the exterior! It's a cute purple house.
The Embarcadero, the eastern waterfront of the Port of San Francisco, also an oyster bar stood on the east side of 17th Ave in Calgary. The restaurant is disguised as a home, which makes it so easy to miss. We’ve actually drove by it so many times in the past without notice. Kev and I were looking for restaurants for our “oyster-themed” date night and came across The Embarcadero which offers $1.25 oysters all day everyday! That sweet deal has certainly enticed oyster-hungry people like us into visiting this unexplored gem in town.
A nice little restaurant in a home. Came here with some friends to try out the oysters. The $1.25 special is a great deal, the oysters are fresh and delicious. Our waitress was definitely a pro at her job. Check this place out if your near 17ave!
Went there for 1.25 oyster daily special. It is close to the stampede station. Good alternative way to get there instead of findding parking apot around. The oyster was fresh and delicious with many choices from west and east coast. The main dishes were awesome. Love the lamb rack and risotto.
Service is always friendly and welcoming. The place is quaint and the food is great. The calamari, sated oysters, potstickers, suicide wings and their honey mustard dip are so good that i usually order a bunch of appetizers and a drink rather than an entrée. To top it off i finish with the Grand Marnier chocolate mousse, made in house and fresh.
I've been here 3 times now and the food ceases to amaze me. The owner remembers your order and the menu by memory and strikes fun conversations with everyone. The 3rd time I came here was for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The only thing I would mention is that we requested a cozy booth during our reservation and they forgot about it. Otherwise, I loved everything about this place!
Went there for their $1.25 daily featured oysters. Though the malpeque cocktail oyster was small in size yet fresh and briny. Their housemade garnish and hot sauce were a must-try! Would come back to try their oyster platter.
Their buns were irresistibly soft and buttery! But their pasta was not as impressive. We had the cuban lobster tail angel hair pasta. The lobster was succulent and colossal. The problem was the bland, tasteless pasta sauce.

Love how they have a daily oyster special here! The garnish that comes with the oysters are amazing!! The service there is always so welcoming and friendly. Also their carpaccio is to die for!
Named after the waterfront district in San Francisco, Embarcadero means "wharf" or "landing place" in Spanish. Known for the widest selection of oysters in the city, they boast at least six varieties of northern Atlantic and Pacific fresh oysters on the half shell... on the night we went, there was 15 delicious varieties to try! The cuisine is an interesting blend of Spanish, French, Italian and Asian influences, which was surprising as Chef Arthur magically manages to add in touches of each without muddling and elevate the menu items to a new level. On to the food! the APPYs Can't visit a oyster bar without trying out some oysters! We had the Inoui oysters from Baynes Sound, BC. Small ultra sweet little oyster with a clean briney finish. They were served with a variety of sauces... we loved the Chef's creation which was a combination of garlic, soy, sesame oil and other tasty stuff I've forgotten, as well as Embarcadero's homemade hot sauce which has a touch of bright sweetness from fresh citrus. Nom! Freshly baked buns with ethereally light whipped butter was quickly devoured... yum! The Calamari was lightly battered and deep fried to a perfect toothsome bite. It was served with tzatziki and lemon wedges, but it was seasoned enough that it stood well on its own. The Arancini , crisp deep fried herb roasted mushroom risotto balls stuffed with asiago and served with a mellow oven roasted tomato garlic aioli to dip in. Yum!
Friendly service and amazing food! Everything was cooked to perfection (we had the big taste menu) and our waitress was informative when we asked questions.
Make sure to get the bread! It was a highlight
I love oysters. I grew up on the ocean & love seafood especially oysters. I brought my girlfriend her to try them she has never had them before so we got the oyster platter with a selection of different oysters & the duck spring rolls. I didn't care for the spring rolls where pretty bland. The oyster where taste with lots of choices & you can't beat the price. Our server was very friendly & had a good knowledge of the menu's only problem we had was after we where done toke 15 - 20 minutes to get our bill. We were not in any hurry so was no bother looking foreword to coming back.
YYC Fave!. Can't stop coming back to this place! Oysters always taste fresh. Seafood and steak dishes are delish! Daily features that are always a good bet. Service is excellent. Free restaurant parking across the street. We celebrate events like birthdays and graduations here. Or we will swing by for a cold Stella and some snacks (thai shrimp) after a soccer game. Classic Calgary favourite!
Love it here. I went here for the first time and enjoyed it so much I was back the next week. Delicious oysters at a great price. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere
Our go-to restaurant. Whenever the beau and I can't decide where to go for dinner, we always seem to end up at the Embarcadero. The one sever that we get every time is always attentive, super nice and outgoing. The rack of lamb is always grilled to perfection and the angel hair and lobster tail is the beau's favourite. The oysters are what keeps us coming back. They have a wide variety of fresh oysters to choose from and are all decently priced. They are served with an onion-garlic topping that isn't too overwhelming when coupled with the oysters. All in all, a very good restaurant.
Oysters!. Came here for oysters a couple weeks ago. It was lovely - friendly staff, quick service, fresh food, and charming atmosphere. I would not consider it "upscale", but it is definitely classy. We had the Oyster sample platter, which I highly recommend if you don't know which of the many types of Oyters they have you wanna order.
I followed my appy with baby back ribs, and my friend had the pasta. We were both impressed. Honestly nothing spectacular but it was great, well made food nonetheless.
Great food.. Service was questionable. Waiter was a little too chatty for my taste.
Oyster Platter!. I've been looking for a place in the city with a big selection of Oysters, that isn't all too pricy. This is definitely it! I went for lunch with a girlfriend today. We order a glass of wine and each got the Oyster Platter. The platter consisted of one of each oysters they were offering that day. We got 9 different ones for 21$ From East coast to West coast, ranging all different sizes and all different flavours. This is an amazing deal as I've had oysters for over 3.50 each, and sometimes even 15$ for an order of 4! I was informed they also always have a daily oyster special for under $2 an oyster and noticed on the menu they had about 3 more that were in this price range also. The mignonette we had was made of radishes and complimented the oysters very well and I was so please they had a house hot sauce made of banana peppers, it was amazing. The woman that works during the day was very helpful in explaining the oysters and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything is made in house! Which brings me to my next point. After ordering 6 more of the Malpeque oysters (my favorite off the platter) I also ordered the potstickers/gyoza which to date have been the best I've ever had. Everything about them, crispy on the outside, perfectly tender on the inside, tons of flavor, all made in house, the soy sauce for it was very nice too. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to try anything more off the menu but I'm looking forward to returning, this place left a very sweet taste in my mouth!
Best value oysters. I love the oysters here, a $1.25 featured oyster all the time. I can have a feast and not go bust.
I love it here!!!. One of my many favorite restaurants in calgary. I usually only come here on special events. They make the best pasta, they call angel hair and it was so good with the lobster tail. I also enjoy the oysters they have there. Amazing place with amazing service. 10/10 stars.
Love it. Can't wait to go back.. I can not wait to go back. It is not cheap..as any wine and oyster bar may suggest, but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there.
Fresh oysters. FRESH. and a wide selection too!
VERY knowledgeable waitress indeed (to say the least...she knew it all!)
The 'deals' they had going on were worth the money and the oysters, pricey - but not outrageous.
Prices acceptable, beautiful, wide selection of wine and oysters.
LOVE the ambiance inside..we were seated at the best seat in the house - table of four - top floor, right at the window. Like a movie scene.
There are some loud groups that often come in at night, but I love this place too much to not go back.
TRY IT.
Happy crowd. I had 3 x 3 oysters. Good variety, all excellent. Followed with the lamb which was perfect. We were a group of 16. The following day everyone commented on the quality. As good with a group as my past experiences in two and four.
Still the best oysters in Calgary if not much of a selection.
OYSTERS!!!!!. You can not get anything like this in Edmonton This is absolutely amazing! I love oysters. they are so tasty here! The platter is a must try just to get a good sense of all the varieties they have to offer. This is a place that was definitely worth the drive to get to and I will be returning as a repeat customer.
Everyday Oyster Place. I love going there for oyster every once in a while. True, the price is a bit high but they got specails on different oysters everyday of the week. I love love loveee the mignonette they give you with the oysters - makes me eat at least two dozens by myself every time.
Other menu food is quite decent as well.
Love it!. I am surprised at how often I keep coming back! The food is fabulous, the atmosphere is inviting, and Greg (Head Waiter) always makes sure we have a fabulous time! We always have to start with a selection of oysters, and the Lamb....OH the LAMB!!!! Of course the wine and dessert is also a must!
The Angel Hair Pasta in the Lobster bisque reduction was incredibly flavorful, and the steak dinner was wonderful.
I love Embarcadero's because I get a first class, fine dining experience every time, and don't feel like I am sitting in a hoity toity pretentious establishment.
Truly a wonderful Saturday night dinner experience!
Embarcadero. This restaurant is so cute and cozy, being nothing but a re-renovated house. It's location is discreet, but not impossible to find.
We ordered 3 pastas, a soup, and two deluxe oyster platters. The bread always comes before the meal, and I would think that's the best part. They serve freshly baked bread, while it's warm. Although they only give the same basket of buns to everyone, different from the variety basket in the past, it's still delicious. The oysters were a big small, but they were nonetheless delicious. I love that garlic and chili sauce in the center. As for the pastas, I thought the asparagas penne and the angel hair pasta lacked in taste, and were flooded with a bit too much cheese. However, the linguine was amazing, as per usual. It had just enough seafood, vegetables and sauce. It was probably the best dish.
On a side note, try the Jumbalayan if you decide to go too.
Overall, the service is great, and it's the type of restaurant to go to once in a while. It's good, but not the best.
Great little hideaway. I had passed by the restaurant so many times and always missed going because it is tucked away and by the time you see it and remember its gone but finally I had stopped in and was I ever glad I did. The nice decore of the 1920's house was warm and inviting. I was asked if we wanted the lounge or dining room and as I was not sure they let me look around and I could decide. the dinning room looked semi formal with very interesting art work on all the walls were as the lounge looked warm and inviting with booths surrounded with stain glass windows, so we decided to take a booth.
We were seated and given the menus, wow, was I ever suprised. The oyster menu had 12 different varieties and the price was from 1.25 to 3.25, very good prices from other places I have been. The menu itself was very well laid out with plenty of appetizers and about 20 main course items which was nice to see some different choices with everything from seafood, beef, lamb, chicken and pasta dishes. Finally the wine list was very extensive and I was quite suprised concidering the size of the restaurant which we were told holds 80 people.
We had a few questions about the menu and found that our server had excellent knowledge of the menu, sauces, oysters, wine and anything else we asked him, which I found to be a nice change from "just a minute and I will check" servers.
We put our order in and asked for a nice white that would go with our oysters. He brought a very nice NewZealand wine which went perfectly with our oysters and was nice on its own. We had 10 of the 12 different oysters and they were fantastic. Nicely shucked but more importantly very very fresh which suprised me because of how many varietites they had. When i asked if they usually have this many the server said it all depended on avaliability but they try to have as many as possible as the oysters arrive every other day.
For our meals I had the lobster pasta and my guest had the rack of lamb. We each had glass of wine because of our different meals and had about 20 to choose from. The pasta was excellent. I was expecting chopped up lobster meat in the pasta but recieved a large whole lobster tail on top of the pasta. The sauce was a lobster sauce rich and creamy with mixed vegetables and pasta cooked perfectly. My guest had asked for the lamb to be cooked however the chef thought was right and recieved a perfect medium rare. The lamb came with roast potato, crispy asparagus and a port sauce that accented the lamb just right.
As I do not do dessert we had a couple of nicley priced ports and cappacinos.
Overall it was a great experience and would rate it asx follows: ambiance 3.5 out of 5, service 4.5 out of 5, food 4.5 out of 5 and a new catagory oysters 5 out of 5. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great food at very good prices.
A must try for everyone!. Based on reviews here on Urban Spoon, our friend's decided to celebrate my husband's birthday here. What a great dining experience. We started off with the oyster platter, and the oysters were fresh and tasty! We also had a scallop and calamari appetizer which were excellent as well. Our main dishes, were delicious, well-seasoned and extremely filling! They definitely don't skimp on the food here. The lobster tail in two of the dishes were huge! The seafood symphony plate topped with ahi tuna would make anyone drool. My own seafood linguine was loaded with so much seafood, I couldn't even finish it.
Our waitress was attentive and provided wonderful service. Our overall experience was definitely enjoyable, and we're happy we found another 'treasure' in Calgary. Definitely a place we will go back to again.
Great spot for a firstdate!. Needless to sya this place has some dame good oysters. very fresh and juicey. good spot for a first date at upstairs.
Nobody In Particular
+4.5
Great Oysters!. The oysters were great, although it doesnt take much for the oysters themselves to be great. What made them even better was this delicious sauce/spread that came with the oysters. It was so delightful, that's all I talk about. Its the perfect accompaniment to the oysters. I also had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly as well. But it was the oysters that shined. If you love oysters, you'll love this place.
We have been craving some oysters for a while and Embarcadero fit perfectly in our E week. They have a large selection of oysters that are always fresh and delicious. For once the bread was actually worth mentioning. It was warm and soft with a wonderful crunchy crust.
