5/5
Had the Double Decker burger & curly fries. The burger was the best burger I've ever had. Very flavourful and moist. The samosa was also delicious.
The service was outstanding. As we were waiting for our food we were brought some things to sample and had a fantastic conversation with the owner. I will definitely be back!
Wow! I am not vegan or vegeterian but my girfriend is and I must say the stuff i tried was amazing! First of the staff were soo friendly! I had the veg in burger with black beans and rice patty and homemade chipotle mayo and wow! Better than a meat burger at so many places. The curry sauce on the poutine is hands down the best curry i had in Canada!
What a delight! We were warmly greeted by the owners and commenced our vegan food frenzy. We started with the poutine, crispy peppered fries covered with an unctuous, lightly sweet and savory tomato and coconut gravy. Dale opted for the Veg-In Classic burger, a black bean patty (not your typical black bean thing, this monster had great texture and mouth-feel) served on a delicious vegan bun with all the fixings. There are a variety of free toppings, not just ketchup, mustard, and mayo, also chipotle sauce, tamarind dressing, peanut sauce, and a lemon and mint mayo. For a nominal charge, you can also get avocado and vegan cheese. I had the Millionaire burger, which is a smashed samosa served on that great bun with nice fresh coleslaw - I added the free tamarind and peanut sauce. It was delicious, spicy, and totally filling. I can't wait to go back and try the Naan flatbreads that we were eyeing beside us - it looks like a big pizza smothered with sauce and veggies. I was really touched when the owner introduced us to his partner in love and business who he said was the driving force and who creates all that delicious homemade cruelty free food. I could taste the love!!! Although we are both vegan, I am 100% sure omnivores will enjoy this tasty place too. Oh, and it was spectacularly clean! I can't wait to go back, and I understand you can order in skip the dishes which will be a perfect Friday night treat. Yay!
The tastiest vegan gluten free sandwich I ever had. Wrap was crunchy and not soggy like most gluten free bread stuff! The gf Samosa also the best I've had. Friendly and fast staff! Will definitely be back!
It’s so crazy! I’m not vegan and I’ve never really tried vegan food but I brought my mom here for her to find some stuff and I decided to be brave and try something new. The Brooklyn burger is so crazy amazing!! I couldn’t even tell it’s not meat. The owner and staff are extremely nice and welcoming. I’ll definitely come back again!!!
Just enjoyed one of the best vegan burgers I have ever had! What a great find. Wish they had a location in Edmonton. I highly recommend this cafe.
Amazing food, services and prices! I can't recommend this place enough.
Delicious vegan food, amazing staff, and convenient location. The Mango Lasi is vegan and a must try! I went there yesterday and I will be back again soon!
My partner and I eat here as often as we can. We love all of the menu items served at this beautiful little place. Thank you so much for caring about your customers, and making my love's transition to vegetarianism very easy. (he is slowly transitioning into veganism now.)
Your little resturaunt is truly a gem
I tried the burgerito yesterday and it was AMAZING! I will be going back forsure! The owner was very caring and really seems to care about giving Calgary truly exceptional service and great food! My goal now is to try everything on the menu!
Really great little veggie restaurant that caters to many dietary needs. they offer gluten free substitutions for almost all of their dishes too. The owners were so friendly and accommodating, which made the experience very pleasant
A must visit for Calgarians or anyone visiting! Healthy options, great prices, great team of chefs, great service. Their wraps are amazing! Every meat-eater I've brought to this place loves it. I can't believe the expression on people's faces when they take the first bite.
one of best places to eat during my trip to Canada was a small vegan and vegetarian marvel called Veg-In YYC. I was intrigued by the simplicity and creativeness of the menu - millionaire burger - with smashed samosa, housemade glutenfree samosa, and shakes made with almond milk. Everything was full of freshness and flavours. I will recommend Veg-In YYC to everyone, including - non-vegetarians also. Five star for their creative, fresh, service, and cleanliness.
Stopped by during our trip to Calgary. Located in the downtown this place offers bit of twist to Indian food. The food was tasty, fresh, and good. Service is prompt and warm.
If u are someone who ignore Indian food due to heavy sauces, this place offers much lighter options.
Note - it’s not typical Indian food offering curries, naans and rice dishes.
Absolutely delicious and creative Indian inspired fare from a hidden gem. I tried the East Meets West, essentially a "samosa poutine" of perfectly spiced samosas with vegan butter chicken sauce (incredible), spiced chickpeas (addictive) and a variety of fresh toppings that provided a welcome crunch. Not to mention the owner is one of the loveliest people I've met in a while. Definitely head down to Veg-In if you haven't already, I know I'll be back!
Flavourful flatbread. Had the Hungry Possum. And it was very tasty and satisfying. The flavour combination was very nicely balanced. The green apple lassi tasted fresh, like biting into a granny smith apple. Not too tart nor too sweet. Great combination on a hot day. Will definitely come back when i am craving something light and meat free.
4 Words - Delicious, creatively new vegan food. I've been a vegan for about 2 months now and its been hard to find food that went outside of the commonly found salads, or just different veggies and tofu. But when I heard about Veg-in YYC I had to give it a try. I ordered the 1 samosa East Meets West, which is their variation of a poutine made with samosa, chickpeas, and vegan butter chicken sauce on top. I also had the Veg-in Classic which was a HUGE burger with delicious sauces dripping everywhere. This burger did not make me miss meat at all. To top it all off I had a wonderful experience made better with the owner Sehra, who is so bright and positive creating an awesome atmosphere for customers.
The first I heard of Veg-In YYC was in Instagram. I was elated to find that there was a new vegan restaurant in Calgary! The restaurant it is still relatively new, so they still have to iron out the kinks. There are only a few stools to sit in at Veg-In YYC, so you most likely have to get take out than not. I ordered the Mardi Gras veggito (veggie burrito), which contained smashed samosa filling. While the flavours were good, I thought that it was dry and lacked a sauce. My first time at Veg-In YYC was less than spectacular, but hopefully the next time I go, it’ll be tastier!
Awesome grab-and-go food, vegan or otherwise. Great veggie burgers and, without a doubt, my favorite samosas in the city. Go early as everything is prepared fresh and can take a few minutes. I have not been at all disappointed during any of my visits with either the food or service.
Excellent indian fusion food. However, the food prep person seemed a bit disinterested. It was my first time there and great to know there is a vegan place with great food.
A fellow staffer in my department recommended Veg-In YYC, a relatively new vegetarian take-out place near our office. The unit is small with a handful of spots for singles or pairs of two to eat. For a new place, the cafe sure has caught on with the locals. Whenever I walk by, there are two to three people waiting for their food.
This place is my new favourite spot for a quick meal! All the food is so perfectly spiced and is super hearty. I love the Indian-influenced burgers, and the sweet, thick lassis.
Great food and friendly service. It's great to have another vegetarian restaurant. They're suppose to be selling vegan desserts soon. Location may not be the best.
Super fresh! This new restaurant has friendly staff, great food, and a good selection of drinks. I don't know why the rating is so low with the precious high ratings? I'm super excited to have another vegetarian option in Calgary!
Heard about this place from a friend. Glad to see another vegan eatery. Came today and ate their Butter Chicken Flat Bread, Millionaire Burger and Spiced Chai Rose Lassi. I can happily say that the food at Veg-In YYC is truly amazing and will be addictive. It was so delicious and I don't think that I had this kind of food before. Its very trendy and unique. Highly recommended for all vegan people.
I am vegetarian some days of the week so went to Veg-In YYC for a quick meal. I ordered their Veg-In Classic Burger. And it was delicious. I have had veggie burgers before but so far this was the best. I also had Mango Lassi and it was made from home made yogurt, which is hard to find at the restaurants now a days. Overall it is an excellent neat little cafe, very clean, excellent staff and food. It is recommended to everyone.
Walked by & decided to go in to grab a quick bite. Found out they have a variety of different food & excellent choices. Will definitely be coming back 😁
I coouldnt be happier to find this cute little cafe that serves vegan food. UMMMMMMMMMhhhhhh. The food is so tasty. I ordered their Mumbai Burger and it is the best burger that I ate in a my life. I am loving every bit of it along with salt and pepper fries. I am coming here again and again and again. Thanks veg-in yyc for opening a place for us vegans
We were looking for vegan and vegetarian hangout and searched for it. Veg-In YYC came on top. Lots of great reviews forced us to come to this small neat looking cafe. We ordered lonesome couple (2 large samosas), Vegan Black Bean Burger, Mango-Vanilla Coconut Lassi and Sweet Potato Fries with their homemade poutine. We were mesmerised with the attention to detail that the staff was putting into eac of the dishes. Eveything was prepared in front of us. First we got Lassi. We never had something like this before. Made from Coconut Yogurt, which was made by the owner Sehra and then they blended Mango Puree and Vanilla shot for a perfect Lassi. We recommend this place to all - not only vegan and vegetarians. The cafe was sparkling clean, staff was excellent and food was out of this world.
I am from Amsterdam and I am a very fussy eater. I am a gluten free vegan and most places just push me away because they don't have any of both food. But I am so glad I could find this place in the midst of a very meat town. I ordered the East Meets West, which is a Samosa Chaat. Crispy Samosas under a delicious and flavorful chickpea curry with a perfect tamarind sauce that is a balance of both sweet and sour. I also had a kombucha. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone that asks or anyone who has dietary restrictions.
WHAT A FIND!! I'm a vegan and I live in Calgary but always find it hard to find a fair priced vegan eatery in town. I was so glad to walk into Veg-In YYC after reading about it in Avenue Magazine. I ordered the Yam poutine, and the Fiesta Burger. It was truly a "Fiesta in my Mouth" A delicious Mexican Three bean burger topped with a delicious tamarind sauce. And the yam poutine had a vegan butter chicken sauce that was to die for. To top it all off, I ordered a Vanilla Matcha Soy yogurt lassi. Well worth it. So glad there's finally a place that serves vegan lassis. Cafe was very clean and had a great staff that answered all of my questions. Will be back time and time again!
I am by no means vegetarian -- in fact, I'd be a pure carnivore if it were possible! So I had to get convinced by a friend to try the food out, and I have yet to be disappointed! I've tasted the eggplant sandwich, samosas, and most recently a naan pizza! If you like spices and just plain giving your taste buds a good time, this place is the place! The prices are great, including all the options you want, and are more than filling. The lassi or yogurt drinks are delicious too, and they tell me it's all homemade! The staff are courteous and personable, and the location is very convenient. All in all, I recommend this place wholeheartedly! I also feel it's pretty guilt-free in terms of health too, so that's a plus!
Noticed this new place a few days ago, popped in today for lunch with my co-workers. It's small, meant for grab & go lunches, but the decor is bright. The staff was friendly and professional. I had a Millionaire burger, which uses a samosa for a patty, and added my choice of toppings... it tasted great and was worth the price!
I'm no vegetarian and I'm certainly no vegan, but I will definitely be back.
I happened to stumble across this place when visiting from Edmonton and so happy I did. We were initially greeted by Sehra, she is so bubbly and friendly, It felt like meeting an old friend. The hospitality was top notch. Beside the welcoming atmosphere, the food was incredible. I had the enchilada and the flavour and portion size was awesome for the price. I'm sad I don't actually live in Calgary so I can eat here more often. Definitely deserves more than 5 stars. Thank you for the kind and warm welcome 😊
Recently moved to the city from Toronto and I can easily say that the pulled jackfruit burger was probably the best vegan dish I’ve ever tried! Portions are huge, gluten-free friendly, and on top of that very caring and friendly service. Can’t wait to explore the menu some more. Easy 5 stars!
We were here on Canada Day and, despite being very busy, received excellent and super-friendly service. We were given lots of information about the menu and attentive service throughout our visit. The food was excellent with a great combination of flavours and textures. My son, not vegetarian, commented that the classic burger was as good as or better than any meat patty. The rest of us enjoyed the diverse and Indian-inspired flavours of East Meets West, Millionaire, and the Samosa Enchiladas. All were thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend Veg-In for the great service and excellent vegan dishes. Look forward to going here again sometime.
Best vegan Indian food in Calgary ❤️ just got the butter chicken (tofu) penne and the dill burger and it was unreal. The presentation is always amazing, such flavourful fresh food and warm service 💜 love this place so much
Just loved the place ...
This place is a pure vegan place owned and run by mother and son..
Don't go by names everything is vegan ...
They both are very very friendly and foods also tastes so good ....
We even tried Samson and that was really good ... This place is highly recommended...
While exploring the city, I discovered this amazing vegan restaurant! I was greeted by the owner and she was so nice! She was patient and she explained (with details) the ingredients of certain dishes that I wanted. After ordering, the owner gave a sample of their homemade chickpeas and it was delicious :) you can definitely feel that the owner treats their customers as family :) The service was fantastic and it was quick to get my dish. I ordered the Heaven on Earth (smashed samosas) and woowwwwwwwww! There were so many spices going on and it was so filling! Don’t think small samosas but two baseball balls. For the price, it was so worth it :)
One of my most favorite places to eat in the city, makes me so sad that I live more than 20 mins away. Excellent staff with huge hearts! And they are very accommodating if you have any dietary restrictions. Will be coming back, again and again and again :)
THANK YOU Veg-In YYC!
Sarah and her staff are incredible! As a first-time visitor with zero knowledge of the menu items, I totally lucked-out with this little restaurant. Sarah explained everything, and wow! the dishes we ordered were fantastic! The restaurant is super-clean, and yes, even in the back. Sarah was kind enough to let me use her private bathroom and everything in the back was gleaming and glistening. Their prices are in the same era as the awesome music they play overhead - the 70s! Where else in this city will get a beautiful and heaping Indian meal for two with dessert for $40?? I love this restaurant!
