It's exactly what you would expect from a dive bar!! I love this place. Good food, good portions, cold beer and even when busy decent service. This isn't the taj mahal so don't expect white glove service. All around I've always been happy and when I'm downtown a place I enjoy a pint here or some late aft lunch.
Always excellent pizza with cold beer on Monday nights. I felt the beef & onion thick crust pizza had an appropriate amount of topping. Previous visits have also always been satisfying.
$10 for a pint and a pizza 🍕. Seriously how can anyone not be happy. This is the best priced establishment in Calgary. If you like pizza (the Monday special) and a pint, you will be glad you came. The quality varies but for the price I've never left unhappy.
Excellent service, friendly staff, happy hour prices on a Saturday evening was a bonus, pool tables for something to do, really tasty nachos. The draft beer was fresh and super tasty. Relaxed and happy atmosphere, a good place to visit with friends. Will definitely return!
First time here for lunch today. Super friendly service and delicious food. Had the southern fried chicken off their November menu special. 3 pieces of fried chicken covered in spices. Wasn't too salty or oily which was good. It did come out a bit dark though. Came with corn fritter and I substituted a salad with dressing on the side instead of fries. Much healthy option. Overall a good experience would come back again. I made a reservation but didn't need it cuz it wasn't as busy as I would have thought but it was a Tuesday though.

It's basically your standard pub food, but with good prices and HUGE portions.
I had their french onion soup and my friend had their steak sandwich.
All so delicious, my only complaint is that the server was slow, she was the only server at the moment.
Not the cleanest place but I like underground bars with junk on the walls. Food's good, I've never not finished a meal here. Been a couple times and usually sit at the bar, so it's easy to get service.
Love this Place!. I've been going here for years! Service is always excellent (even when they get swamped - they somehow manage to make it work) I've never had a bad food experience - and the Beer is always excellent (obviously have a good tap system) I love stopping here before Flames Games, and eating a meal and drinking a pint or three with friends!
Oh and as a side note - the people who go here always seem to be great people!
Great Local Pub!. Have been going to this place for years, and will continue to do so. I have never had a bad meal here! The staff is always friendly and working hard to keep you coming back. If you want a great, inexpensive meal (and/or pints) on Stephen Ave, with a totally unpretentious atmosphere - the Bear & Kilt will not disappoint!

Great spot for a pint and a bite. We are here from the US and popped in on a rainy day. The staff is very welcoming and they have a great selection of local beers. And the food is terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed the poutine, soup of the day, and great salads but their traditional pub fare looks amazing. We may stop in again on our way home…
I went there on a Saturday night during Glowfest. The fish and chips were delicious! The place was busy. Our servers name was Spencer. He provided great service with an amazing attitude. People like that make the experience, and make you want to come again. Two thumbs up Spencer!! 👍 👍

Visited Saturday night during a Flames game. Super fun atmosphere with delicious shots and beer. Phil and Spencer were amazing bartenders and totally made our night!! 10/10 would visit again.
Met one of my friends for lunch. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Wait staff was attentive but not too attentive. The liver and onions was the best I have had in years. Will definitely be back

Burgers was awesome and so was the sweet potatoes fries. the plate sizes are big. server was nice and friendly. loved the look of the old pub style.
