We've been to Wellingtons 3 times now and we absolutely love the caesar salad! I've have the peppercorn steak last time and the steak diane this time and both were excellent! My husband has had the wellington every time. That caesar us the best I've ever had! Highly recommend.
Service had always been top notch.
The best place in Calgary to get a great steak or prime rib. I've never had a bad meal here. And the service.. Top Notch!! You guys are the best!!!
We had a fantastic meal! Steaks were cooked to perfection, Cesar salad was delicious and the Cherries Jubilee was amazing! Justin was our server, definitely the best service we've had in a long time! Highly, highly recommend Wellingtons, it was a great experience!
Our favourite spot in the city for dinner. Always a consistent, delicious meal that never disappoints. My husband and I personally love the steak and lobster and always have to get the Caesar salad, which they make right at your table. Highly recommend to all of our friends and family and if you are making a reservation - ask to be seated at Justin's table. He's a fantastic server!
We dined at Wellingtons Saturday night, celebrating my husbands retirement. Our waiter, Chad, was fantastic. Service was prompt, but not rushed. My Steak Diane was fabulous! Our entire table of 8 agreed it was a great evening. Chad was even kind enough to take some photos of us, and laugh along at my families weird sense of humour. He made our visit worth while, and we will definitely be back. Thanks Chad!
We recently had a family dinner celebrating our daughters marriage at Wellingtons. Denis was a pleasure to deal with. All the staff were lovely and very attentive to our group
We had a fantastic meal and a lovely evening
I would most definitely recommend and most definitely will return
Thank you for a great experience
It was our first time dinning at Wellington’s of Calgary as we reside in B.C. I will definitely dine there again. Our server Carlos was amazing and the food was excellent, I had the Beef Wellington..I am still raving about it.
First time ever dining here tonight, my wonderful friend brought me! It was super delicious & the service was amazing! I highly recommend the shrimp & mushrooms spot & the steak Neptune for dinner!!! Thanks for a wonderful dining experience!
Just had my boyfriend's birthday party dinner with 10 people. All meals were fantastic! The service simply amazing. Justin, our server, really made the night. Only recommendation would be to improve wine list - list vintages.
Nice atmosphere😊. Our waiter, Carlos, was excellent and the food was awesome😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
My favourite place to go when life is just so busy. We were here on Christmas eve, New Years eve and will return mid month for our 20th wedding anniversary.
Delicious food, served by caring professionals.
Absolutely delicious and wonderful staff. I highly recommend Wellington's to anyone. 💗😋
Always outstanding, best ribeyes in Calgary!!
The best food and people I love this restaurant.
Great food, great service and great management who are always willing to accommodate requests.
We had the pleasure of dining at Wellington's Tuesday, February 13 and it was amazing. Eric was our waiter and he made the evening very enjoyable. His Caesar salad was spectacular, the french onion soup was the best I have had in a long time, and the steak Diane and rack of lamb was simply the best. We finished off the evening with Cherries jubilee which was fantastic as well. I am not sure why we had never eaten here before, but we will definitely be back, it is worth every dollar.
Classic North American dining experience. Try the chowder, and Wellington. It is expensive, but a wonderful treat. There’s also a diner next door using the same kitchen, for the more casual, and it’s a little more budget friendly.
Great Steak Sandwich! I love places that use a Rib Eye for their steak sandwiches, so juicy. Also love the dry ribs as a starter....so good. The only reason I can't give this place a 5 is that the prices are a little high, even for a steak this good. Will be back.
The steaks were excellent. The prawns and desserts were very good. Sides were fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with them. Service was extremely fast. We got there at 7pm on a Saturday and left by 8, after having drinks, appetizers, mains, and desserts. I would have preferred to have a little more time to relax in between each course but I understand they need to rush to turn tables. My only real criticism is that they put orange pop in an Old Fashioned. Normally I'm all for places updating cocktails but I think that one should just be renamed instead of trying to pass it off as an Old Fashioned.
We usually come here for both my birthday and my mom's because we love it so much. The chateaubriand is like butter, just melts in your mouth, and the array of vegetables it comes with is excellent. I tend to get the Wellington just because I love the flaky puff pastry. The service is always great here and we really enjoy when we get to come here.
Went here tonight to celebrate my birthday with my other half and made reservations of course. The outside of the restaurant isn't much and parking was packed, restaurant was in this strip mall.
The inside decor is out of date but the service right when you get into the restaurant is superb! They have curtesy coat check which is pretty common for fine dining. We sat in the dining area and you can see the chef cook steak over a grill behind a glass, which is cool 👍🏻
We ordered jumbo prawns, and their special of the night, crab cakes. And holy moly!!!! The crab cakes were to die for! Perfectly soft inside and so much crab. Then of course I ordered the beef Wellington with a regular baked potato. Keeping in mind I've only ever had beef Wellington once before at another restaurant in Calgary. This one was cooked to perfection at med rare. They also dress the potato at the table, and you have the options of sour cream, bacon bits, green onions, and butter. It was a nice custom touch. The side veggies of carrots and broccolini where meh. My partner ordered the steak Neptune which was a filet mignon with crab and hollandaise. We shared, obviously, and I thought it was pretty damn delicious (though I still preferred my Wellington).
Finished off with a mud pie for dessert which was Really yummy.
Service was awesome, water and coffee was always refilled. The gentleman we got, checked up on us regularly. The manager (I believe) even came by to ask how everything was.
I only gave a 4.5 due to the decor and lighting... Yes lighting! It's so dark in there, couldn't take a quality photo using no flash haha what can I say? I'm a foodie. And decor is pretty dated. Food was fantastic.
It was my first time at Wellingtons, and incidentally my first time trying a beef wellington as well. I'm not quite sure what the standards are for an exceptional wellington, but my bar has been set high by my experience at this restaurant. With a traditional fine dining atmosphere and friendly staff, Wellingtons is a great option for an intimate dinner. The appetizers were quite good, and the main was phenomenally prepared. With a light, crispy puff pastry envelop in a tender filet mignon, Wellingtons has created the perfect marriage of taste and texture. The sauce that accompanies it pairs nicely with both the wellington, and anything else on your plate really. Definitely coming back!
Fantastic food but even better service! There's not one thing I can say wrong about this restaurant. Naturally, we ordered the steaks which were cooked perfectly but our favourite part of the meal was the prawn and mushroom appetizer! The server highly recommended and we're glad we listened. SO good.
We were in the area and couldn't decide what to eat until my bf suggested Wellington's based on his experience 7 months ago!
We were sat right infront of the grill behind the glass. Very warm and nice ambience. The waiters are experienced and professional. The steaks and Wellington is always done to how you like it. We tried the prawns and mushrooms as an appetizer and the prawns were a good size.
I love it here! It's always a treat when we come here :)
May 2015
Always a pleasant experience. I brought my boyfriend here for his first time and he loved it. We called in advance whether there was a dress code since its summer and it's just no caps and spaghetti straps. We walked in greeted by a friendly hostess. Sat by the window exposed grill where you can watch the chef work the grill. The service was attentive, organized and knowledgable. Quality of the steaks were done impeccably. I love this place.
This is by far, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in a long time that was worth every penny. We've booked a reservation on the dinner side. The interior is definitely classy with well aged dark woods, and dim lights. It's a great place for a date.
For starters we had Oysters Rockefeller, it came with 6 oysters with spinach and the oh so yummy hollandaise sauce. It came with half a lemon to squeeze and drizzle that all over.
I definitely recommend ordering seafood bisque with brandy and dip it in bread (free). It is very tasty, but it might be too much for others as the taste is strong.
For the main course we ordered chateaubriand. 16 oz. Beef tenderloin with an array of vegetables (broccoli, carrots, potatoes and red peppers) and hollandaise sauce for the meat. It was unexpectedly heavy and surprisingly I couldn't finish it. I had to take half of it home. Beware though that it is worth $45.00 each person. So please order this if your really hungry. If you would like an alternative that is cheaper. I would recommend getting a fillet Mignon (6 or 8 oz. Sizes) and a side of veggies to share.
Overall, it was a great experience, great customer service too (well mannered and dressed sharp) and I would come back for more. As I did not have room for desert, so I will have to come back next time.
LOVE IT. We have been going here for several several years, excellent food!!! Always a pleasure to go there, and have the staff recognize us.
Should have been excellent, and could have been.... Staff are pros and well trained. Table side prep is good and fun to watch. However, for a steak house not to pay attention to how a client wants a steak is unforgivable. I like a hint of pink bit I also like a fillet. I was specific to the point I said they could butterfly it so I could have it how I want. What I got was medium rare. Sure apologies offered but then they microwaved my steak. ?? This isn't Bonanza.... I was very disappointed in the main course. We had several choices of restaurants that evening, next time I will look for somewhere else.
Lunch. A business associate and I were in the southern end of the city on business last week. We decided to go to Wellington's for lunch. I used to frequently go to Wellington's when I lived in the south end of Calgary. I now remember why..... amazingly good food and service. I will not wait so long so long before I go back. I think I will plan a dinner trip with some friends from the north end of Calgary.
Just LOVE this place!. We love this restaurant. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. The Steak Dianne is to die for as is the Beef Wellington but the prawns and mushroom appetizer is my favourite its sinfully buttery and garlicky yum yum yum.
Great steak restaurant with the best service. Went for a delayed Father's Day celebration meal and had one of the best dining experiences ever. The table side prepared Caesar salad was simply delicious. Our steaks were done to perfection with a nice assortment of sides. The service left nothing to be desired. The manager, whose name I believe was Gareth, was outstanding. He entertained us with amusing anecdotes and put on quite a show with the preparation of our cherries jubilee dessert. I have eaten at many restaurants in my life and have to say this meal will be one of my most enjoyable memories.
Delicious steak, amazing service. Perfect for a special occasion! From the food to the ambience to the impeccable service - Wellington's hits all the right notes. Keep in mind, it is pricey - but worth it. Go for father's day, mother's day, birthdays, graduation - whatever it is - make it a special occasion. We tried the caesar salad - mixed tableside and it was divine. It had just the right amount of bite and was perfectly creamy. There was just the right amount of dressing and the croutons were deliciously crunchy. The steaks were grilled to perfection - and let me just say, Jimmy (the guy who looks strikingly like Ebenezer Scrooge), is a grill-god. Be sure to save room for dessert - the cheesecake is light and fluffy and light and takes on a mousse-like texture, the creme caramel is smooth and melts in your mouth. We didn't have enough people to try out the Cherries Jubilee but it looked like quite the show - lots of flames and "ooh's" and aah's". Just go to Wellington's - it won't be disappointing. Two thumbs up!
Been here a number of times and have yet to be disappointed. Steaks are always juicy, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Staff are prompt, kindly, and courteous. Its a good sign when I taste their mussels for an appetizer and loved them, yet I generally hate mussels. Great place to eat and I'm looking forward to my next visit already
Best Steak in Town!!!!. We just came back from Wellington's... By far the best place to eat in Calgary!!! The service and the staff are fabulous!!! They make you feel like family. Every time we go the food is always done well. Will be going back.
Been going to wellingtons for a number of years, special occasions, drinks, appys, you name it, never been disappointed. Servers are knowledgeable and understand the product. Asked the chef what kind of mushrooms were in my perfectly cooked tenderloin in Marsala mushroom sauce, oyster mushrooms straight from the kitchen. Good wine list great steaks and cooked right. Grab a bottle of champagne and order a steak cooked perfectly, must try
Excellent restaurant. Have been many times, the Beef Wellington is perfect.
Wellingtons of Calgary. Wellingtons Restaurant – Napoleon would be Envious
Wellingtons is a culinary delight of fine dining and an inspiring institution in Calgary. It has survived 30 years of boom and bust and bitumen bubbles. Something our provincial leaders are still trying to understand.
This fine restaurant however, still provides a consistent, steady, and unwavering restaurant service, proving that it must be doing something right. I’ve returned to Calgary after an absence of nearly 20 years, only to discover that it is still around, still offering extraordinary food.
My recent favourites, include the prawns and mushroom starter, smothered in garlic, white wine, butter and parmesan cheese, followed by the beef steak tomato salad, and for my mains, the usually the Steak Dianne. They have a great election of wines and both my wife and I, love the traditional tableside service for the ceasar salad, the chateaubriand, and some of the flamed desserts.
It is a truly wonderful experience being served in this colonial manner, only achievable with experienced waiters. I thought it was amusing that all the servers were mature men with ties and white shirts, and no evidence of young, nubile, short skirted help. And I absolutely loved the service!
If you a beer and pizza scoffer, or burger, fries and coke person, please go to your local neighbourhood pub, as this place is not for you.
Despite this restaurant being located in the SE boonies, miles away from where I live in the NW, I still recommend that you go there, if you want a traditional and extraordinary fine dining experience.
Great Food, Even Better Service.. The beef wellington's were perfect, the service was excellent.
Best Steak in Calgary. We continue to eat here and continue to enjoy everything about this the Place!
french O Soup is the best I have ever had!
Beef Wellington is out of this world.
One of our favorite places to go for special occasions. The chicken oscar with double stuffed potato never disappoints! Yum!
Fantastic. My girlfriend fell in love with the cajun caeser salad, the chicken was so well marinated it tasted phenomenal. I had the prime rib which was made to perfection. very minimal fat, the prime rib was perfect at medium rare. However the vegetables could use an extra minute or two cooking, as it was slightly hard/undercooked

Best steak in the city every time! Sadly every single one is judged against this place and are all found lacking. It's a keeper and yes I will be going back. They are consistent, and that above all else is what I appreciate.
Wellingtons' Wellington. We came to Wellingtons simply to try their Beef Wellington as no one in our party of 4 have ever tried one before. It was fantastic! The server explained to us that if you order a steak medium rare, they grill the steak until just before medium rare, take it off, add the pastry and then bake it until the steak is cooked to perfection with the pastry crust around it. The house made sauce is the icing on the cake for this steak experience as it compliments the meal perfectly. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was casual classy. I will be back.
WOW THE BEST IN CALGARY. This is simply the best steak house in Calgary and I eat out alot, I was at caesars around the cornor the other night and i just kept wishing i was at wellingtons!
I love the wellington allways PERFECT the chef Jim that cooks in his bubble knows exactly what he is doing while there Class act servers deliver TOP service in the lounge Im keeping my servers name secret as we allways request him when we book :)
Tableside dishes and a great time to be had for all :)
if you dont eat here you are missing out I will be back time and time again without fail!
I did compare the prices of steaks to the keg and wellingtons is somehow less expensive? Great Value Great Service 100% !!!!
YUM YUM!
Amazing amazing amazing, food service, atmospere, everything about this high end restaurant is fantastic. Can't praise Wellingtons enough.
Perfect!. This is my 3rd time going to Wellingtons, and I can't wait to go again. The restaurant from the outside is very unassuming, but what a treasure you'll find inside. Myself, my husband and our friends were seated right beside the neat-o glass room that protrudes into the diningroom which houses a grill and a very talented grill chef. We started with cocktails (I highly reccomend the Mango Mahem martini), and some appetizers. Two of us had the tableside Caesar Salad (so fun to watch made from scratch right in front of our eyes), one had tomato soup and I had the French Onion soup. I've had the Caesar salad before, and although good I found it a bit too tangy for my taste, but it was still tasty. My french onion soup was amazing, so much cheese baked on top it melted down the sides of the bowl. I could only eat half as I didn't want to spoil my meal. My husband finished it off and proclamed it to be the best French Onion Soup he's ever had, and I'd have to agree. I ordered the Beef Wellington, done Med Rare, and as always it was done to perfection. I still think about how perfect the Filet, Mushrooms, Foie Gras, pastry and groumet sauce all go together. Alsolutely beyond delicious. My husband ordered the Prime Rib, Wellingtons Size, and requested it to be done Chicago Style (put on the grill and crisp up the fat). At first we were told they don't offer that, but minutes later our amazing waiter informed us the Grill Chef would be happy to accomodate us. The size of that cut when it was put on the grill was HUGE! Wow, we weren't sure if he'd finish it all. The stuffed potatoes with toppings were so good, I wish I could have eaten everything on my plate. And for dessert we ordered Cherries Jubilee, once again made tableside by our awesome waiter (I think his name was Dean? He was the senior waiter with glasses) After dessert we were absolutely stuffed, and so very happy. Once again, the service was second to none, our waiter was on top of everything with poise and grace and made our experience all the more enjoyable. I can't wait to go back, an absolute must to try.
Wouldn't go anywhere else for Wellingtons..... I honestly can't say I've tried much of the menu, aside from their Beef Wellington, which is TO DIE FOR. ALways cooked to your exact doneness, the fois gras and pastry are very subtle, and add texture and welcome flavour to one of my favorite things to begin with... steak!
The service has always been wonderful there, very knowledgable and well trained staff.
Great wellington. Must say my rare wellington was cooked to perfection. The pastry was crispy and the foie gras wasn't overpowering at all. Looked exactly like Ramsay's recipe book. The service was great too. Overall very well organized steakhouse.
Old School with a Modern Twist. I've always heard of Wellington's over the years - it seemed to be one of those old-school wealthy oilmen steakhouses where you go to ink a deal. However, we've been hearing more and more good things about it and decided to check it out one evening with my husband's aunt, she of previously old-school oil industry employment.
The dining room is very elegant - and we were surprised to learn that they've been in the present location since the 70's. I must say that the decor was not dated at all, and it was modern but elegant at the same time.
We started with Caesar salad (made tableside, LOVE that) - great flavours but a bit too much dressing for my taste. My husband pronounced the french onion soup "excellent". Our prime ribs were a bit overcooked; we wanted medium rare and they were medium, but to note we were told before ordering that the PR that night was medium but we decided to go ahead anyway. Auntie loved her filet and called it "perfect". Dessert was an apple pie that was obviously commercially made which was a slight disappointment.
Service was impeccable and 5-star. This is a great place to go if you're hankering for something old-school such as tableside Caesar salads and flambe Cherries Jubilee. We really liked it and definitely was added to our restaurant roster.
The steak is so delicious , the Filet of Beef Wellington so so good, service is always excellent and bonus you can order from the dining room menu in the lounge for a more laid back evening
First time in the lounge. Great service. Nice and relaxing. Tasty steak sandwich. Caesar salad was great and the rice pudding was ok. Not very large. I'd go back though. I think Caesars better.

Beyond Expectations. Read the reviews on here for our date night and choose to try Wellingtons. I was expecting a casual dining atmosphere
as the reviews implied so I wore a hat, I was instructed by the hostesses that there was no hats in the dinning room...Right on! The girlfriend loved that one!! We were promptly greeted with enthusiasm and warmth. The service staff was exceptional (Dean was our waiter). The food was absolutely terrific in taste and value. especially the table side Caesar salad what a presentation! We will be back for sure!
Phenomenal each and everytine. The service is top notch and food is spectacular. Everything on the menu is good so take a leap of faith when ordering. Just don't miss out on the table side caesar salad. Always one of my favorite restaurants in this city.
Beautiful!. Everything was simply superb! We were greeted by a gorgeous blonde hostess where we were pleasantly sat right in front of the broiler. We watched our steak being cooked right in front of us, which was almost exciting as our first bite - done to perfection!
We finished off the evening with the Cherries Jubilee - a must! It was flamed by our table, ending our night with a bang.
We will definitely be returning, such a great place to spoil yourself.
Amazing!. Wellingtons has never dissapointed. Great, quite, romantic setting in the dining area. Food is awesome, servers are very proffesional. It is also cool that they have an opened glass cube where they cook your steaks!
P.S Book your reservations as they get fairly busy around dinner!!
As always....fantastic.. My inlaws have been eating at this place for 30 years. It may be a little old fashioned on the inside...but if aint broke....
Great steaks and still very affordable.
Great food, great service.... Whether you order steak, fish, chicken or liver, and whether you eat in Oscars, Wellingtons, or the lounge, the food is never dissapointing and the service is always friendly and professional. I often meet my friends here for dinner and a visit. It is one of a few places that we consistently enjoy and never get tired of. Special dietary requirements are handled well. My vote for one of the finest steakhouses (and so much more) in the city.
Consistent excellence. We dine here on a regular basis. The food is never disappoints and the service is outstanding.
Good wine selection and great steaks. We had a large group and the service was good as well as the meal selection. The wine list was extensive. The steaks are excellent and done to perfection.
Wellingtons is one of the top steak house's I Calgary. Great menu, good service, you won't be disappointed. FYI it's not cheap, but nothing crazy
I really enjoyed these oysters, they were really fresh and it tasted great with just a little bit of lemon.
