We've been to Wellingtons 3 times now and we absolutely love the caesar salad! I've have the peppercorn steak last time and the steak diane this time and both were excellent! My husband has had the wellington every time. That caesar us the best I've ever had! Highly recommend.
Service had always been top notch.
The best place in Calgary to get a great steak or prime rib. I've never had a bad meal here. And the service.. Top Notch!! You guys are the best!!!
We had the pleasure of dining at Wellington's Tuesday, February 13 and it was amazing. Eric was our waiter and he made the evening very enjoyable. His Caesar salad was spectacular, the french onion soup was the best I have had in a long time, and the steak Diane and rack of lamb was simply the best. We finished off the evening with Cherries jubilee which was fantastic as well. I am not sure why we had never eaten here before, but we will definitely be back, it is worth every dollar.
Classic North American dining experience. Try the chowder, and Wellington. It is expensive, but a wonderful treat. There’s also a diner next door using the same kitchen, for the more casual, and it’s a little more budget friendly.
Great Steak Sandwich! I love places that use a Rib Eye for their steak sandwiches, so juicy. Also love the dry ribs as a starter....so good. The only reason I can't give this place a 5 is that the prices are a little high, even for a steak this good. Will be back.
The steaks were excellent. The prawns and desserts were very good. Sides were fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with them. Service was extremely fast. We got there at 7pm on a Saturday and left by 8, after having drinks, appetizers, mains, and desserts. I would have preferred to have a little more time to relax in between each course but I understand they need to rush to turn tables. My only real criticism is that they put orange pop in an Old Fashioned. Normally I'm all for places updating cocktails but I think that one should just be renamed instead of trying to pass it off as an Old Fashioned.
We usually come here for both my birthday and my mom's because we love it so much. The chateaubriand is like butter, just melts in your mouth, and the array of vegetables it comes with is excellent. I tend to get the Wellington just because I love the flaky puff pastry. The service is always great here and we really enjoy when we get to come here.
Went here tonight to celebrate my birthday with my other half and made reservations of course. The outside of the restaurant isn't much and parking was packed, restaurant was in this strip mall.
The inside decor is out of date but the service right when you get into the restaurant is superb! They have curtesy coat check which is pretty common for fine dining. We sat in the dining area and you can see the chef cook steak over a grill behind a glass, which is cool 👍🏻
We ordered jumbo prawns, and their special of the night, crab cakes. And holy moly!!!! The crab cakes were to die for! Perfectly soft inside and so much crab. Then of course I ordered the beef Wellington with a regular baked potato. Keeping in mind I've only ever had beef Wellington once before at another restaurant in Calgary. This one was cooked to perfection at med rare. They also dress the potato at the table, and you have the options of sour cream, bacon bits, green onions, and butter. It was a nice custom touch. The side veggies of carrots and broccolini where meh. My partner ordered the steak Neptune which was a filet mignon with crab and hollandaise. We shared, obviously, and I thought it was pretty damn delicious (though I still preferred my Wellington).
Finished off with a mud pie for dessert which was Really yummy.
Service was awesome, water and coffee was always refilled. The gentleman we got, checked up on us regularly. The manager (I believe) even came by to ask how everything was.
I only gave a 4.5 due to the decor and lighting... Yes lighting! It's so dark in there, couldn't take a quality photo using no flash haha what can I say? I'm a foodie. And decor is pretty dated. Food was fantastic.
It was my first time at Wellingtons, and incidentally my first time trying a beef wellington as well. I'm not quite sure what the standards are for an exceptional wellington, but my bar has been set high by my experience at this restaurant. With a traditional fine dining atmosphere and friendly staff, Wellingtons is a great option for an intimate dinner. The appetizers were quite good, and the main was phenomenally prepared. With a light, crispy puff pastry envelop in a tender filet mignon, Wellingtons has created the perfect marriage of taste and texture. The sauce that accompanies it pairs nicely with both the wellington, and anything else on your plate really. Definitely coming back!
Fantastic food but even better service! There's not one thing I can say wrong about this restaurant. Naturally, we ordered the steaks which were cooked perfectly but our favourite part of the meal was the prawn and mushroom appetizer! The server highly recommended and we're glad we listened. SO good.
We were in the area and couldn't decide what to eat until my bf suggested Wellington's based on his experience 7 months ago!
We were sat right infront of the grill behind the glass. Very warm and nice ambience. The waiters are experienced and professional. The steaks and Wellington is always done to how you like it. We tried the prawns and mushrooms as an appetizer and the prawns were a good size.
I love it here! It's always a treat when we come here :)
May 2015
Always a pleasant experience. I brought my boyfriend here for his first time and he loved it. We called in advance whether there was a dress code since its summer and it's just no caps and spaghetti straps. We walked in greeted by a friendly hostess. Sat by the window exposed grill where you can watch the chef work the grill. The service was attentive, organized and knowledgable. Quality of the steaks were done impeccably. I love this place.
This is by far, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in a long time that was worth every penny. We've booked a reservation on the dinner side. The interior is definitely classy with well aged dark woods, and dim lights. It's a great place for a date.
For starters we had Oysters Rockefeller, it came with 6 oysters with spinach and the oh so yummy hollandaise sauce. It came with half a lemon to squeeze and drizzle that all over.
I definitely recommend ordering seafood bisque with brandy and dip it in bread (free). It is very tasty, but it might be too much for others as the taste is strong.
For the main course we ordered chateaubriand. 16 oz. Beef tenderloin with an array of vegetables (broccoli, carrots, potatoes and red peppers) and hollandaise sauce for the meat. It was unexpectedly heavy and surprisingly I couldn't finish it. I had to take half of it home. Beware though that it is worth $45.00 each person. So please order this if your really hungry. If you would like an alternative that is cheaper. I would recommend getting a fillet Mignon (6 or 8 oz. Sizes) and a side of veggies to share.
Overall, it was a great experience, great customer service too (well mannered and dressed sharp) and I would come back for more. As I did not have room for desert, so I will have to come back next time.
