U have to try the desert! just like what we had at the thai floating market.. .. yas yes yes..
Amazing Food, friendly staff and great service. We were very pleased and would recommend to every person travelling to Calgary as a must visit restaurant.
Keep up the good work!!

Enjoyed a terrific dinner out at KhaoSanThaiKitchen for the first time on Sunday. Thanks to the friends who recommended it to me. My guest, my wife and I were delighted with the flavours as well as the presentation of each dish that we ordered.
Was worry if my bf don't like the foods there. I keeping to tell him that this restaurant has 4,5 stars in Google so don't worry. Must be good!
Yes, he like it! The foods was delicious and we finished all the foods with nothing left. He wants to give 5,5 stars for this restaurant but sorry, 5 stars is the highest number . Very recommend Thai restaurant in Calgary.
Khao San Thai is our favourite place for delicious and authentic Thai food in Calgary. From the corn fritters to the puong chum-poo to the sweet and sour basa to the pad see ew gai. It's all delicious and prepared and served by a passionate team who treat each other like family.
excellent food, all the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
It was awesome to have my dietary requirements attended to (gluten and lactose free) AND have delicious choices! The food presentation was pleasing and the service was TOP NOTCH
Good customer service... priced right .. roughly $25-30 a person with tip... ordered 5 dishes with 2 bowls of rice and 2 desserts ... I would definitely go again...
Terrific Thai food.......crowded, noisy, but the food is great

The service excellent, the food delicious. Best Thia food
Was super awesome. Had the beef salad, and if was very tasty! The atmosphere was relaxing. Would definitely come back again.
Go here if you love thai food or want to try it. .... amazing
The food was amazing, the people were very nice and we never felt rushed at all even though it was close to closing. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a “ go to” Thai place
Their food quality, taste and quantity is good. Their green curry is tasty and recommend having it with plain rice. Drunken noodles are good and a bit spicy and come with flavorful and adequately sized shrimp. Their pineapple rice is not an item I would get again but it was decent as flavoring was slightly bland but with a nice pineapple bits that made it nice. Skip the chicken cashew dish. Prices average. Service was good even though it was busy at the time. I would come again
Amazing !! I completely get the hype and the #1 ratings. This place is absolutely fantastic and the food is phenomenal !! We came for a week day lunch, the restaurant was quiet, the staff were very friendly and the food was remarkable. I will be returning as soon as I can !!! The red curry had great flavour and was loaded with thick chunks of veggies : peppers, pumpkin, tofu and basil ! Can't wait to try more. Perhaps next time I will order more just to take home
Khao San is one of my favorite places to get Thai food. It is so busy that you almost always need a reservation! The food is delicious and authentic, the service is amazing, and the restaurant is clean and modern.
Went for a large vegetarian family dinner when relatives were in town. Food, presentation, ambiance and service were all amazing. Will definitely be back.
One of my favourite places for Thai food in calgary. The curries are flavorful and the pineapple rice is a very generous portion. The interior design is also very beautiful and comfortable. The service is great and servers are very nice. It is however a small restaurant so be prepared to wait or get a reservation. The satay skewers are a bit skimpy however for the price you pay.
It's a nice place and location. This time, we ordered the chicken pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, yellow curry with coconut rice, satay chicken and deep fried shrimp. The satay chicken came with 4 skewers and toasted bread (regular bread) to pair with a sweet translucent sauce. The bread is a bit odd but the sauce is good though. The fried shrimp came in a shot glass and the size of the shrimp was fairly big which I think it's worth the money. The coconut rice was a little dry but other than that, everything tasted good. I quite enjoy the pineapple fried rice, it's got a good flavor to it. I would still prefer white elephant if I have to pick a Thai place.
I went here for a celebration dinner and it certainly didn't disappoint, from the delicious food to the lovely decor! The service was very attentive. I could easily see why the Braised Short Ribs in Massaman Curry ($23) is one of their signature dishes, as it was absolutely delicious! The green curry (with chicken) ($16) was also very good; both curries had great depth of flavour and a nice level of heat. I didn't like the Pad Thai ($15) as much as at some other thai restaurants, but it was still very good. For dessert I tried the Sweet Sticky Rice with Thai Custard ($5), which was unbelievably delicious! I am definitely planning on returning to try more of the menu!
This is the best Thai food in the city that I have found so far. Cute space, good service, the food is crazy flavourful. All the sauces have many levels of flavour. My only complaint is perhaps it's a bit expensive. Not huge portions. But definitely go give it a try.
The soup was unbelievable. My tastebuds were alive, awoken by the spicy, tart, salty and sour notes of the soup. I could taste the lime, lemongrass and the deep heat of the chilli. The soup was silky smooth. The tofu was still crispy, tasting like it was briefly deep-fried before being added to the soup.
I knew I would be a regular at Khao San the first time I visited this place. There is absolutely nothing that I have to say about this place which is even borderline negative. The ambiance is wonderful, seating is comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful with the menu. The food is phenomenal! We have tried almost 80% of the menu here, and there isn't a single meal that we haven't liked. The curries have the perfect amount of flavor and spice and so do the stir fry vegetables. Rice is cooked to perfection. Noodle soups are deliciously flavored. We love the golden tofu with the sweet-chili peanut sauce. Servings are wholesome! Their wine menu, however, is rather limited, but that has never been an issue with us. Highly recommended!
My favourite Thai restaurant in the city. The cashew chicken and pad thai are amazing. Tom yum soup is good as well. Pricey, but great for a treat!
Absolutely delicious! I love food that is tasty and presented so lovely! We had the spring rolls, dumplings and red and yellow curry dishes. I can't wait to go back!
Khao San is a Thai fusion restaurant located along 17th Ave, and one that I've been meaning to try for a while. I've always heard good things about this place, and can certainly see why. I ordered the red curry, satay skewers, and a noodle soup dish. The food came out quite quickly, and the service was incredibly friendly. All of the dishes were flavourful, and I particularly liked the peanut satay sauce that came with the skewers. The noodle soup was incredible as well, with a nice balance of spice and coconut milk to create a memorable taste. Definitely coming back!
What differentiates Khao San Thai is the outstanding service. The staff are courteous, fun and knowledgeable. We were really impressed - 5/5.
The food was good - 4/5. Absolutely must order the scallop starter - was perfect. We also ordered Tom yum soups starters, the massaman beef rib curry and the chicken green curry with coconut rice. All were great but not mind blowing.
The wine list is minimal (which is a big negative for me as I love wine!). They do have cocktails and other options available to try but we didn't venture to those. Hard to give the beverage list more than 2.5/5.
Overall I would be back - 4/5
I've been here multiple times ever since my first visit for a number of reasons! The scallop appetizer is super delicious, I highly recommend you get them. You get 4 scallops set in individual spoons covered in a savoury, pineapple salsa with finely chopped crispy vegetables. The texture and flavour compliment each other with every bite! The curry is also delicious (I get the Pa-Nang curry) with coconut rice. On a down side (which is why they don't get a 5/5) is the inconsistency of the noodles. I've gotten both the pad thai and pad sew and they've tasted different each time. Sometimes it's savoury and sometimes it's sweet.. But otherwise their service is quick and friendly! Prices are okay, pricey for thai food but cheaper than the rest of the restaurants on 17th!
Last Sunday lunchtime we were doing some odd jobs near 17th and decided to grab a bite to eat nearby. It was a pretty cold and grim day so we figured a nice warm curry would be perfect. It wasn’t long before we spotted the sign for Khao San Thai Kitchen. The reviews on Zomato were pretty good, so we couldn’t resist giving it a go.
Best service I have ever received in Calgary by far. I've been here twice and every time I delighted by how nice the service is at this restaurant. Their food is pretty good although I think some menus are a bit overpriced.
This place has one of the best curries I've tried. They also have pork dumplings in the shape of flowers which make them all the more appetizing. The only thing I didn't appreciate was that my table seemed to have less service than the other tables with older patrons. It seems as though serving younger customers isn't a priority for them.
Very tasty red curry. I kicked it up to 2 star heat. He warned me. It was pretty hot but very good. Quick lunch service. Water full throughout the meal. Nice decor and very clean. I'll be back to check out the other dishes.
I am a picky when it comes to Thai cuisine. This place is better than the franchise mall food.
Its Tom Yum Goong has keffir lime leaves which brings it to a different level. To me however, it still lacks fragrance flavor obtainable only when the soup is cooked with shrimp shells. It is sour enough but not spicy enough. I will continue to search for authentic thai cuisine in Calgary.
The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated. It looks quite clean and the service is quick.
Went here once a few years ago and it was spectacular. It was nice to have Thai food that was asthetically pleasing compared to "fast food thai" and the flavor was there to back up too. I indulged in the cashew chicken and one of the Currys they had on the list (can't remember which one now). Definitely a good spot to try.
*when I was walking to the bathrooms I was about to pass another lady who worked there in the same hallway and she stepped to the side to let me pass. Excellent customer service.
Beautiful, simplistic cozy ambience! Food is liberally portioned for its price. Service is great, was constantly asked about the food, and made effort to make conversation with customers.
I love thai food. Just the different varieties of food you can get.
My gf took me to Khao San one day after work. Its gorgeous inside and the service was very good. Very friendly too
we ordered their Poung Chom-Poo which was soo pretty the presentation
and few curry dishes and shared.
The dishes were tasty but i found that the price was alittle high compared to most thai restaurants ive been to.
I would still recommend checking it out :)
Great Thai food. Found it a little pricey and strange you had to buy the rice separate from the stir fry. Great atmosphere. Can get busy on weekend so book a reservation.
We were greeted at the door by a very welcoming host.... Although the snow made us extra excited for some delicious Thai food. Poung Chom-Poo- steamed stuffed dumpling, minced ground chicken, roasted crushed peanuts, Thai spices These beautiful dumplings are not just for show. When we first bit into it, we got a great burst of sweetness and crunchiness.
I always suggest Khao San Thai Kitchen to my friends when they're craving some thai food but want a good atmosphere and great service as well. It's convenient location on 17th Ave makes it easy to go out for drinks too! I would recommend the pad thai and thai iced tea - it's fantastic!
Finally found great Thai food in Calgary!. This is far and away the best Thai food I have had in Calgary. Moving from Victoria B.C. I left behind Sabhi Thai, that was the best Thai restaurant and I would go once at least every 2 weeks. Moving here I have been disappointed over and over with the processed tasting Thai food that Calgary has to offer. Some friends invited us to go to Khao San as they had been told that it was great. The food was outstanding. Started with the spring rolls that each came sticking out of a shot glass that was filled with a sweet chilli sauce. Great presentation and the spring rolls were delicious! We had the Yellow Curry and it was amazing! The pad thai was great and the fried rice was also full of flavour. Everything we ordered was a 10 out of 10. The service was very friendly and attentive, always a nice smile and we were checked on frequently. My only complaint is that I live in the NW so I will take me 20-25 mins to get there every time, and after that meal not going is not an option!
Khao San Thai Kitchen is not only THE best Thai restaurant in Calgary, it is where we go to be with friends. Whether we're celebrating special occasions, showing off to our friends with fine dining, or just plain hungry, it's the first place we consider going. Sam, Dao, and all the Staff treat us like part of the family and we feel valued and respected with every visit.
Customer Service is high on our list, and if there's great tasting food accompanying that, you have a lifetime, loyal customer. Khao San Thai has the best of the best Thai chefs from Thailand to further romance your palate to ecstasy. Wow! Can't get any better than that!
See you all there! I'll be the one with the big smile, stuffing my face, and being served like a queen.
Fantastic!. This is a small, quiet restaurant, with really great food and friendly service. Enjoyed everything about Khao San. You must give it a try.
Great. The Pad Thai is fantastic, the service is prompt, the prices are fair.
Delicious. Best yellow curry ever! Service is amazing.
We love this place. I signed up on Urbanspoon just because I wanted to write a good review about this place. Me and my husband don't usually branch out too far from our favorite restaurants but decided to try something new and this place was amazing. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic they were always coming by to see if we needed anything and always clearing our table when we were finished with something. The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic and we felt that the price was very reasonable. We had 2 appetizers, 3 entrees and a few drinks and would have nothing but good things to say about any of the dishes we tried. Love this place and will definately be going back. Thanks for the great service Dao and all the ladies that also came by.
Best Around!. Khao San Thai is by far the best authentic Thai food you can get anywhere outside of Thailand. The owner and staff are amazing and the food follows suit. I've been known to order takeout from here twice a week or more because you just can't beat it. Don't miss out on this gem!
Delicious fresh food, good service, beautiful restaurant. I love thai food and this is my favorite thai restaurant in the city.
The food is phenomenal. Just like the thai food I've had in Thailand. It's authentic and they use fresh ingredients. The presentation is impressive, and the service is really good.
The decor of the restaurant brings me back to Thailand, it's cozy and beautiful.
You must eat here!!!!!
Authentic!!. Love it. authentic. make sure you make reservation. Mouth watering. pad thai is awesome! . Yellow curry chicken is my favorite
Delicious!. Best. Pad Thai. In Calgary! It's worth the price.
Great service, great food, accommodating to food allergies, and coconut rice that didn't just smell like coconut it actually tasted like it - fantastic!!!
One of the best restaurants I've been to!. I have worked in the restaurant industry for more than 10 years, and this restaurant hits every note perfectly! The decor is beautifully Thai without being over the top. Despite arriving only 45 minutes before close, we were invited in warmly. The place was full, but the staff cleaned a table as soon as one became available. The service was very good, with prompt check-backs when our appy and meals arrived. The food was AMAZING. We had the satay and for mains the Pan Nang curry with beef and the beef short ribs coupled with some coconut rice. The Thai iced tea is a must try, so delicious and creamy, nothing like Western iced tea at all. Overall I would give this restaurant a 9/10, and will be coming to this place every chance I get!
Once again an excellent meal, never fails to please....
Awesome Thai Restaurant in Calgary!. I took many friends there and they all loved the restaurant after I took them. My best pad thai place in the city.
They have great service, food and atmosphere in the trendy 17th avenue. I can't wait to go back after the renovation.
Best Thai I've Had in a Long Time. We walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation. Just 2 of us, so we thought we'd chance it. The staff were totally accommodating and gave us a table and asked us if it was okay if we finished within an hour and a half. We ordered the Thai Beef Jerky, Papaya Salad, Braised Short Ribs, Pad Thai and Coconut Rice. Everything came out quickly and hot. Service was attentive and friendly.
FOOD WAS DELICIOUS.
THe papaya salad was actually the spiciest dish we ordered. The Beef Jerky was great. It was pretty simple in flavour, but the dipping sauce kicked it up. The Braised Short Ribs were phenomenal. A friend recommended the restaurant based on this dish and it lived up to the hype. Pad Thai was spot on. Overall a fantastic restaurant. Priciest items were our cocktails ($10 each) and the papaya salad ($13!). Everything else was very reasonable.
We were out of there within an hour and 15 min. I will definitely be back to try more curries. Take out is going to be hard to resist!
Fantastic! So glad we tried this place because it's now a favourite. Love the shrimp pad thai!
Thai gem on 17th. What a lovely experience we had when we dined at Khao San. My boyfriend's mom LOVES Thai food and every time she visits, we always slip in a new Thai restaurant - and we weren't sorry that we slipped Khao San in this time. The service was impeccable - really, food and ambience aside, it was the service that made this restaurant stand out for me. With true Thai hospitality, complete with the slight bow of the head and the lilt in their intonation of questions, their smiles and helpfulness matched their knowledge of each of the dishes. While the prices and the portions are typical of any Thai restaurant downtown, go for the service. Say sawasdee to Khao San because I hope it stays around for a long time! Two thumbs up!
Very good and very fresh. But prices are very high.
Great Meal.. Brought my dad here for his birthday. The service was great, the staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Vegetarian Papaya Salad (delicious, though very spicy), Spring Rolls, Chicken Green Curry and Pad Thai. I like that the Spring Rolls each have an individual dipping sauce, great idea. Everything tasted wonderful, and my dad is still talking about how much he enjoyed his birthday meal. Will definitely be coming back!
Amazing :). One of the best dining experiences I have had in Calgary so far! Amazing, friendly staff and service! We had the Thai style beef jerky, basil & prawn stir-fried, and the green curry and for desert we had the creme brulee (thai tea flavour) and the taro pearls in coconut milk! Everything was amazing! Definitely will be back :) Thank you
Best Thai Ive had. Great for those who like spice and those that don't. My 2 year old loves it.
It just might be Calgary's best Thai!. Since discovering this restaurant on a whim, I might have been to it 4 times in a week and a half. The food and the service are exceptionally reliable, and whether I went there for a date with my husband, dinner with friends, a girls night, or a lunch, everyone in my party was always exceptionally pleased. The atmosphere is great, it is just unfortunate that this restaurant is rather small and usually full, so reservations are highly recommended. The service is friendly and relatively quick (no waiting around for food for too long). The food is spectacular-There is something for everyone. I tend to like very spicy food and they bring you chilli four-ways to spice your food to the level that you like. This is what I love about this place is that the food is generally well seasoned but not particularly spicy, so that it can be enjoyed by those who perhaps do not like so much spice. The appetizers are fantastic and my favourites have to be the chicken satay (scruptious!) and poung chom poo (possibly the prettiest and the most delicious thing you will ever eat!). The spring rolls and the corn fritters are delicious too, I have had several of the main dishes including the braised short ribs in massaman curry (the curry is so good that it deserves a spoon), green curry (I'm not usually a fan, but I love this one), red curry (mild and delicious), chicken cashew nuts, sweet and sour basa (the fry on the fish and the sauce are incredible), and my absolute favourite pad thai koong sod (the BEST PAD THAI I've ever had). Also the coconut rice is incredible as is the coconut green tea! The great thing about the mains is that the portions are very generous and are lovely to share so that you can try a bunch of the different dishes. This has become a favourite of mine since my first meal: A true gem for Calgary!
Alright. This place has a nice atmosphere and very friendly service. We enjoyed our meal but weren't amazed by it. Like it was pretttty good, but compared to both the flavors and price of White Elephant Thai, it fell a notch below.
Always a pleasure.... I've been coming to Khao San Thai Kitchen for awhile now, and I have never been disappointment. Firstly, the staff is amazing and make an effort to remember their regulars. They are friendly, polite and provide an amazing service. Secondly, the food is amazing. I have never had a disappointing meal or experience. The portions sizes are great--large for a single serving, and great for sharing. Great flavours, and you have the choice for additional spice/heat. Thirdly, every single person I've brought to Khao San have gone back numerous times and have nothing but positive things to say. All in all, great food, great staff, and great restaurant.
A taste of Thailand! I coul.... A taste of Thailand!
I couldn't have asked for a better place to escape this Canadian winter. Authentic Thai food, actual Thai people, and a never ending flow of beer Chang. I had ordered take out previously and was impressed by the massive portions and spicy sauces (I love spicy food) but sitting in this quaint restaurant with nice decor, soft tunes and friendly "Thai smile" service, I think I've found my hideaway for the rest of the winter.
Best Thai in Calgary. I've tried a number of Thai restaurants in Calgary and have generally found them to be mediocre at best, compared to Thai food I'd had elsewhere. Khao San was a great surprise. Great food, nice decore, attentive service, and reasonably priced. One of my new favourites!
The food was delicious ! The only downfalls were that the restaurant is very small ... We had a group of 7 for. Birthday party and it's not an ideal place for a group. Not anything against the restaurant just good to know for next time. Also it looked like they double booked some reservations ... I called in and booked and it seems like people who emailed in for a reservation had some trouble, probably just best to call if you want to be sure. Everyone enjoyed their meal ... The best dishes were the curries for sure. I will definitely be back!
Exceptional. When I walked into the Thai Kitchen today, it was with a bit of trepidation. This was my date night with my husband. It was our 10 year anniversary and my husband and I just got into a fight the day before. However, upon walking into the beautiful ambiance of the Thai Kitchen and being greeted with kind, ready smiles from the staff, our argument didn’t seem so important. The staff were attentive to our needs and yet were always ready to greet other clients as they walked into the restaurant. They were prompt when taking our orders, giving out water and coffee. The food was stimulating to the eye, as well as the stomach. Such excellent presentation of the Poung Chom-Poo, which are dumplings made to look like pink roses. Our main courses were the Braised Short Ribs in Massaman Curry and Royal Garden Delight which were savory and cooked to perfection. We finished off our meal with a couple of desserts called Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango and Taro Pearls in Sweetened Coconut Milk. Very tasty and quite refreshing. You can not help but discuss the excellent, attentive, quick service and delicious food. The Thai Kitchen has proven that outstanding service, food and courtesy need not come at an unattainable price. By the end of the night my husband and I were back on good terms. I guess you could say the Thai Kitchen saved my anniversary.
Urbanspoon was RIGHT!. We're from Edmonton and went here a) because it was close to our hotel, and b) because it got 94% on Urbanspoon. Did we ever luck out on our pick! The service was unbelievably good (arguably some of the best I've ever had), and each item of food was better than the last. We're going to try and make a point of coming back each time we're in Calgary to try the rest of the menu. Please try it, it'll be worth it!
Romantic Eats. This is a great place to go for a romantic dinner or to share a warm dinner with friends. Make sure to set reservations as it is an extremely popular spot. Tables are close together but you soon forget the lack of privacy as you taste the amazing quality of the food! Well worth a visit.
What a wonderful evening. Very friendly attentive staff, food was amazing. Would definitely recommend and will be returning. So many amazing items to choose from and very well priced.
Had the pleasure of dining here the other night. I tried many dishes and they were great. The pad thai was a highlight! I also had my 3 year old daughter with me and the staff was exceptional with her. Great experience. We'll be back.
Delicious!. This is probably my new favourite Thai restaurant, I really liked this place! It's a small restaurant but the décor is beautiful, it feels like you stepped into a whole new country. The server was very friendly and the service was fast. I ordered the Green Curry with chicken and a side of coconut rice, it was so delicious that I finished my whole plate! We were celebrating a friends birthday and the server brought her a complementary coconut ice cream which was really nice of him. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a new Thai place to try!
Delicious food!. Amazing food and service, great decor, love this place!
Like it lots. Really great authentic Thai food, have gone 3 times and always left very happy.
Me and my girl use to go to other Thai restaurants, now we almost exclusively go to Khoa San . One of the best, if not the best, Thai food in Calgary!
Amazing, flavour explosion, authentic Thai. Fabulous meal. Every bite was a flavour explosion. The service was excellent. The food was fresh and amazing. Great attention to detail in every way.....from service to food presentation and preparation. I've been to Thailand and love Thai food. This was one of the best Thai meals I've had..including meals in Thailand and in Canada.
Best Thai restaurant in Calagry. Food is delicious and services is always great. My favorite place for lunch or dinner.
Good Experience!. The service was really good, server helpful and attentive! No waiting for the food.
Food was pretty good, it was my first experience with Thai food, and it was a great start!
Wow!. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on Valentine's day and we were blown away. He has travelled Thailand pretty extensively and said the food was spot on. To start we had the dumplings, which are delicious and beautifully presented. I had the green curry with coconut rice and prawns and he had the pad Thai with prawns. While I am fairly new to curry (I know, I know!) Khao San's was easily the best I've had. It was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet, and the coconut rice really cut the heat. The pad Thai was a bit on the sweet side, but fantastic nonetheless. We also had coconut infused green tea, which I was dying to try after reading a review on here and it was also very good. We chose to pass on dessert since we were quite full, but were sent home with a complementary mini chocolate Valentine's cake! The service was as good as the food and everyone was fast and very friendly. I'm already looking forward to our next visit!
Wow! The currie dishes are to die for! A real taste of Thailand!Have been twice and will work my way thru the menu! Thanks Sam !
This place is amazing. We went here for Christmas dinner with our 3 year old daughter. Even though it was clear that they do not get many kids here, they accommodated us and were very friendly, unlike a lot of other non kid friendly places who tend to have an attitude. We tried the vegetarian spring rolls for an appetizer which were amazing. Then for dinner we all shared the Crying Tiger, yellow curry, and pad Thai. I cannot say anything bad about any of the food here. It was all fantastic. By the time we finished our three entrees we were stuffed but had to try the desert. Our daughter had the coconut icecream (which she hasn't stopped raving about) and we shared the toffee cake, some jelly stuff( sorry can't remember what it was called), and another bowl of icecream. Yes four deserts in total, all of which were delicious. Since we left the restaurant, I have sent a mass text to everyone I know telling them they must try this place. You should try it too. You won't be disappointed.
WOW. Had dinner here this past Saturday. Very busy so reservations are a must. Service was excellent. Not bothersome and overly present...just enough to keep the drinks topped up and the add ons coming. Food was spectacular. Had the green curry with chicken, the basa dish and a cashew stirfry. All exceptional!
Best Thai food! You want to eat great fresh thai food, and experience a warm service? Then this is your place!!! I will definitely be back:)
Yums. I went here on a Thursday night with a friend and I have to say that it was one of the best experience i had in a long time.
The friendly service was amazing
The food exception
What more can I say. Expect go eat here.
Wow. Khao San reminded me that I love Thai food. My dining partner has traveled Thailand more than once and promised me our dishes tasted authentic. Everything was multidimensional and the flavors complex and rich.
Wine list and service were also good. Ask for hot sauce and chili oil on the side if you're into spice. If you're allergic to peanuts our server alluded that it would be a challenge to eat at Khao San. Luckily, the only nut on the menu I'm allergic to is cashews and it wasn't an issue.
We started with the papaya salad (crisp, flavorful, and spicy!), then shared the salmon Panang curry (medium rare and had a wonderful texture though I do wish there was more curry sauce to spread on our coconut rice), and Khao San herbal prawns (HUGE prawns, though only 3, flavors of coconut, fish sauce, and herbs I'm not familiar with - doesn't sound delicious, but it was!). For dessert we had a sweet sticky rice and egg custard confection that was neither too sweet nor too rich, but comforting and perfect after all the flavors from dinner. Looking forward to introducing everyone I know to Khao San!
Fresh and Fantastic. What can I say that most of the other reviewers haven't already said? Superb service - attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Fantastic food, very well presented, and full of flavour. Went for lunch, and can't wait to go back to try the extensive dinner menu.
Fun lively atmosphere. Food was really good but I've still never found cashew chicken anywhere like I did on Koh Samui, Thailand. Khao San is a little expensive but we will be back for sure!
