Ordered a bento box from here. It was really good. Filling and tasty. The price is very affordable. My go to place if I want a heavy dinner.
The taste was excellent. Not to over powering. I had the original ramen. Service, in my opinion, contrary to what others say, was pretty good. The only thing stopping me from giving it a full 5 stars was that the price was a bit expensive, you barely get any meat.
I LOVE HOW AFFORDABLE THEIR PRICE IS FOR BUFFET MEALS. SERVICE IS VERY QUICK. FOOD TASTES REAL GOOD. STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS. WASHROOM IS KEPT CLEAN.
Kawawa Japanese Restaurant (優惠長者的日式放題)
味太郎不論是午餐、晚餐或宵夜時段都有日式放題All You Can Eat及regular menu,價格十分親民。
Change of Pace. I had to go out to Metrotowne yesterday, so I thought it would be a good chance to sample the fare at Kawawa. It's been a few years since I was at this location and they seem to have updated the place a bit. Menu is not quite as large as I recall, and if I am not mistaken, they no longer have a belt that brings pre-made sushi past the tables.
I started out with Ebi Sunomon, Salmon, Tuna, and Ebi nigiri sushi - one nice touch was that the Ebi had the hard tail piece removed. Added to that was California, Dynamite, and House Special, and Salmon rolls. Almost forgot the Chopped Scallop Cones. All pretty standard fare and nothing to write home about.
Second order brought more of the same plus Tonkatsu which was done to perfection. Perfectly cooked, hot and with a great Tonkatsu sauce which I am told is available from T&T Market under the Bulldog brand.
An order of Ika Karage (Squid Rings) was not well done. Seems to me that it had been cooked earlier and allowed to sit while the breading got soggy. The waitress offered to get me another order, but I was already at my limit by then. Also got a nice tasty Chicken Yakatori.
The AYCE lunch was $12.95, $.25 extra for ginger, plus $2.50 for a re-fill-able Diet Coke. Total bill $16.49 including GST before tip.
Michelle, my server was very attentive and friendly.
Good food at reasonable prices. Having experienced my fair share of All You Can Eat Japanese at various establishments, I feel confident in crediting this restaurant to be one of the better venues within the Lower Mainland. The food that is served (during late night AYCE anyway) appear fresher than most when compared to other like-restaurants. Prices are reasonable, service is good, and the ambience is friendly; nothing to complain about here.
Really nice waitress and excellent California rolls and hokkigai sashimi. Spicy tuna rolls were some of the best I've had. I don't understand why so many people didn't like it, I will definitely be back!
Overall rating 7/10 for bad service and oyster motoyaki. I'd probably come here after shopping or something and maybe try out the all you can eat menu.. The reviews on the ayce menu are horrible so maybe not but who knows!
