On the search for Sunday eats, we found ourselves at On On Wonton House located at 5640 Kingsway. I’m fairly certain that this used to be the location of Mr Ho’s Wonton House (which has since moved a bit further east on Kingsway a number of years ago). We were a bit hesitant since this place was dead at 11am but figured we might as well try them out.
Ordered On On based on reviews here on Yelp and have had failed experiences in New West. We ordered take out through Skip The Dishes, it was clearly made very fast at the restaurant and arrived very hot and fresh. We had Szechuan Chicken, Szechuan Green Beans and Beef Hor Fun/Wide Rice Noodles. The noodles were my only disappointment as they were clumpy and over sauced. The Szechuan dishes were excellent, full of spicy peppers and lots of flavour. Certainly this is more of a “western style” place but quite frankly that’s what I usually crave :)

• good soups, no msg; perfect for a

• inexpensive, bring cash if possible
• your typical wonton place, nothing really different from other Chinese restaurants
• I would come back again, but nowadays there's a lot of other places to try
Came here on a slightly chilly evening on Sep 12, 2017. I'm staying in a hotel nearby and enjoyed a nice little walk. Was in the mood for something small and comforting so I ordered a bowl of won ton soup. Menu is pretty standard... lots of options for either Western Chinese food lovers or classic congee kind of food lovers.
Food came out quickly. Noodles were traditional with good chew. Received 4 won tons in my bowl. Soup was good.
Cheap enough meal: $6.25 including tax.
Those white folks who were complaining that they weren't getting service: there were three other tables of white people and they seemed to get good service. So I don't know if you caught them on an off day or you did something to offend the staff. Would definitely come back here to try more of what's on the menu. One complaint: don't look at the window sills. Quite a few dead bugs laying there (mostly fruit flies).
Really impressed with this place! Food is really good, portions are generous and prices are fare. I've ordered from here several times and the food is always consistent and good. I recently ordered in and the gave me a complementary mango pudding! Very good!
Great food, I would have rated higher if service was better. I went there with a few friends a few weeks ago and we enjoyed the meal, however, the waitress kept staring at us the whole time, got uncomfortable at certain point. She didn't pay attention to ask us abt the food, if we were pleased or if we wanted anything else. My friends do not wish to go there. I still order take out there, love the food!
Arrived back in Vancouver the other day from a small town. Had a panging for chinese food and stopped off to meet some friends on the way back home.
OnOn was the pitstop and what a relief to get some good food to chow down on.
Curried Vermichelli, beef hor fun, vegetables and a few other items and few beers.
Good food in a nice environment where we could hear ourselves talk, eat & drink and enjoy the company. Service was good and even got to talk to the boss man - nice fella.
Dont know him that well, but his food is good and prices are reasonable.
Will be back soon for regular lunches once the summer is over and back to the old grind.

「安安食家」在本拿比現址已經營了一段很長時間，於一年多前進行了全面大裝修，所有室內傢具檯椅也重新更換，整個餐房都煥然一新，地方也擴大足夠容納百人。老板非常關顧老外顧客，餐牌用上圖文并茂。為了營造中國特式，老板用了隻大熊貓做招牌，令人聯想到那隻大熊貓安安。

左宗棠雞午市套餐 $8.50 ~ 這道菜其實就是咕嚕雞，甜甜酸酸非常下飯。例湯除了酸辣湯和雞蓉粟米羹外還會為華人食客提供老火例湯，不過我還是選要酸辣湯 (3.5/5分)
I like this restaurant because it has good food for a reasonable price. The first time I went here, it was for a birthday party but I decided to go back with my own family because we enjoyed our first experience. I think we would go there more regularly if they served dim sum. However, they still have really good Chinese food. My favourites are the seafood chow mien, the chicken and corn soup, and the mango pudding. I love how the mango pudding comes in cute shapes! The only thing that was negative about this place is the service. It takes a while for your food to come, but I would still recommend you eat here.
Not sure why the reviews here are so low. I've been to this restaurant twice for lunch and the food was great. It wasn't too greasy or salty, portions are well priced and it is classic Cantonese food. If I lived closer I would come here more often.

Like the Chinese of my childhood. It was a chilly November night, I was bicycling through BBY after dark, and I wanted some soup to warm up before I took the bike onto the Skytrain at Metrotown. I had a long way to go, and I'm no masochist. Instead of stopping at some pho-in-the-wall joint, I rode up to On On because in the four years I've lived here, I've never been to a Wonton House. Unless you count Hons -- but I recall them serving "Wun Tuns" ;->
On On made me flash on the rare times when my parents would take us to "fancy" Chinese restaurants in the U.S. in the 1960s and 70s. The food was Westernized and blanded down -- Szechuan? What's that? -- but it seemed exotic to us gweilo. Even in a region with fantastic Chinese food choices, On On must still satisfy some people (like Anglos, who made up 50% of the diners when I stopped in.) It's one of those places with a huge menu of chow meins and all sorts of Cantonese comfort foods. And it's cheeeeeeeap! I stuffed myself for $16 and change.
The wonton soup with pork had an oily broth, which gave the taste some depth (along with the MSG -- head starting to pound.) Wontons were shrimp, nothing special. The pork added $2.75 to the basic $5 that the soup costs, but it was fatty and didn't do much for the flavour. My "3 Meat" chow mein was massive, full of pork, chicken and duck bits, bit tasted better with liberal application of soy sauce. The service was super-fast. I always get treated great at Chinese restaurants. On On isn't on the cutting edge, but on this chilly night, I'm glad I stopped off.
Ordered take out. Lady was quick on the phone but I got everything I ordered and it was damn good! Loved every bite!!!! Will deff order again!
FANTASTIC take out option. On On Wonton has been our go-to take out / delivery place for Chinese food in Burnaby since we moved here a year ago. We've tried others in the area, but the food is much better here. We usually do a dinner combo for 2 or 4 (with a couple substitutions) and add on the lettuce wraps and the salt & pepper squid, which are our two favorite dishes. The delivery is always prompt and extremely friendly. Good value for what you pay.
It's ON ON. Went in and got a combo dinner for 1 and was impressed with the portion size. Not bad for $10. Servers need to smile more and keep their voices down while talking amongst each other... No need to hear them scream their conversations to each other while I stuff my face with fried rice... But pretty good food considering the price.
Great Lunch Place. Our office orders from here for lunch now and again and the lunch specials are great. All under $10 and generous portions enough to take hom for dinner. We love the lunch special #24 spicy beef with green beans on rice. All the rice dishes are great, wonton soups are good and the spicy squid is delicious. I wouldn't call this the greatest place and I probably wouldn't try it for dinner but its a quick place for great Chinese food in the middle of the day. Try the #24 on fried rice instead of steamed...yum!
Standard affairs.. Used to order from here with coworkers. Taste is a bit bland. Some dishes don't remain consistent (different chef?) after a few years. So we stick to basics to be safe (combo stuff) for delivery. Beef lettuce wrap from appetizer section is quite good.
Cheap Wonton House. We used to like this place and eat out a lot in On On. It is more like a Chop Suey place, if you know what I mean. The menu places a lot of emphasis on North American Chinese food (like chow mein, egg foo young and wontons) but they do have pretty good value for money options. The menu is extensive.
