Review Tom Yum Thai Restaurant - Burnaby

I've been trying to pickup more often than ordering from Apps and I somehow only just noticed this restaurant a few blocks from us. Delicious food, very friendly service. I LOVE that they have a small size Tom Yum soup as sometimes I just want a little one with my pad Thai. Both dishes were great, and packaged well. Definately will be back !

A solid Pad See Ew ผัดซีอิ๊ว and at under 15 bucks as a lunch combo is an absolute gem. Authentic home-cooking style Thai food in a local Burnaby eatery and under the radar great joint with extremely efficient and accurate service. The noodles were rad, authentic super yummy and chewy thick rice noodles with a heaping of tofu squares, scrambled stir-fried egg with great overall flavoring and seasoning. Plenty of thai spices, the spicier the better!! The lunch combo soup is chicken-broth based, but they whipped up a salad as an alternative since it wasn't crazy busy which was super nice of them. The dish also came with one of the best deep-fried veggie spring rolls I have had in a while and less processed or pre-frozen than other joints I have grabbed at. The staff are super nice, accommodating and friendly. The smell of bleach and disinfectant is overwhelming, but may have been bad timing as I was close to the end of lunch serving. Super stoked, found myself a great local Thai cuisine option at a great price offering fantastic veggie spins on a classic Thai menu. Khob khun ka ขอบคุณค่ะ !! Support local business!

This place was great, really bold flavors lovely staff. the green curry chicken was well balanced with taste and spices. The hot option is certainly next level hot but still amazing

Friendly service, delicious authentic food. This is our favourite Thai place. The service is always efficient, kind and fast. The food is very yummy. We went to Thailand and were actually surprised it was bang on. Place is not fancy but we always return. Mina gives the best service.

Originally didn’t expect much from this small establishment. Restaurant decor was old and pretty run down. However everything was really very clean. Service was so really tentative and friendly. Food was delicious, a bit on the heavy side but I don’t mind. Portion was good too. Happy to have they in the neighbourhood. Will visit again.

We've been going to Thai Café for a few years now. It's a cozy little place that serves delicious Thai food and offers great, friendly service! Normally, my wife and I go... just the two of us. We usually get the Pad Thai or Pad See-Ew. The noodles are always cooked with just enough chewiness and the right amount of sauce. Thankfully, their sauces are not overly sweet as some places like to make them. My favourite is the medium hot green curry with chicken. My wife likes the mild yellow curry. We have tried many of the menu items and they are all quite good. Yummy! It's nice to go with a larger group too because you can order a whole bunch of dishes and share them family style. I'd say the portions are a good size. The lunch specials are a great deal and I always leave feeling satisfied. The dinner dishes are perfect for sharing. The service is always good. The staff always makes you feel welcome and it genuinely feels like they appreciate you dining there. We made reservations for a table of 6 one Friday evening and when we showed up there was a cute little hand-made, personalized reservation sign on our table! Is that service or what? Loved it! Great food? Check! Great service? Check! Great value! Check! Thai Café is a winner! You won't be disappointed.

UPDATE: July2020 Open for DINE in and Takeout! They observe social distancing and SERVERS WEAR MASKS!!! 👌They let you sign in so IF ever there is Covid found, they can contact the people who came into their place. Ate in again and I liked that their portions are bigger. Me and my husband were full and we almost didn't want a DQ after! And we can eat a large portion. Their soup is chicken based, nothing special, not too salty or bland. I'm a bit particular with salty things now since lessening sugar and salty stuff. Their mild means just seasoning, so I would have ordered medium spice. Meaning this is not like an Indian restaurant which are very generous on their chilli. Menu is online with QRcode: thaicafe.ca Actually this is a good thai place to eat along Hastings. The presentation of the food is actually cool. The menu looks new, seems they have upgraded big time. Servers are very pleasant. -1 because the place is really sad to look at. This should be their next upgrade, just hide the kitchen and all the other important things a customer doesn't need to see for a restaurant to run.

Tried the Phad Thai and it was excellent! Pretty much as original as it gets for Vancouver. Service was good and friendly!

A hidden gem in N. Burnaby. Kind people who care about their food. Comfy seating and more importantly great Thai food! Worth stopping by.
