Not sure what everyone is talking about. I order from here for work lunches all the time and it is always great. Great pricing, great food. The Croquettes are amazing! Rolls are always good and the teriyaki is delicious. The all day menu is a great deal for a Ton of Great food.
Sushi Yoi is a busy little Japanese restaurant located on Rosser Street in Burnaby, right next to the large grove of Japanese cherry blossom trees (bet this place is a great place to have lunch during the spring). Having been on my list for quite some time, we finally dropped by for lunch in mid-November and started out with an order of Prawn Tempura ($8.95). Deep-fried to perfection, the prawns were coated in a light and crispy batter.
This place is hidden on Rosser Ave across Whole Foods. I think it's an underreated sushi place since it's not exactly on Lougheed or Hastings. The fish is fresh, the cooked items are good what's not to like? Sashimi is very good quality and a very good portion. One of my favorites on the menu was the grilled squid, marinated well and very tender a must try. My absolute favorite here are the oshi. They do oshi and very well too. My favorite is the Saba Oshi I highly recommend it!
Read great reviews about this cozy place,ordered the Deluxe Combo OMFG!!! it was fantastic (forget Sushi Garden and the long wait) there was plenty of seating and the service was very attentive i would highly recommend this place please keep in mind street parking is limited
After multiple failed attempts at eating here (closed every time!), I was finally able to come on a day they were open! I came here after work with A for a much needed catch up session!. Aburi oshi sushi is one of my favourite things to eat, so when I saw that they offered it here I knew I had to check this place out. This place has been around for a pretty long time and I always pass it on my way to Sushi Garden, but I never thought to come here until I saw some pretty delicious photos of Instagram.
TL;DR oshi sushi for $7.95? I love it!
This place is a bit of a hidden gem in Burnaby. They have an awesome combo deal for $10.45 and you get to pick 3 items off a set menu. The portions are generous and for the most part fairly fresh.
The reason why I really like this place is their oshi sushi, which is similar to what Miku is famous for but without the ridiculous price. Comparing this to Greenleaf on Broadway, definitely not the same flare in terms of presentation but portions are larger and it tastes good!
Service is great, they got some young servers eager to please (think first job kids) and the free underground parking nearby is a bonus.
Really well priced food and good sized servings. They have classics that you expect as well as some delicious twists on the usual favorites, such as the Crunch California Roll which is topped with delicious fried yam strings. This place has a nice, casual atmosphere and is really centrally located right by Brentwood Mall. Has comfortable seating, booths and generally is a nicer setting that many Japanese restaurants. Our group of 6 really enjoyed our meal here tonight!
Rainy days call for sushi takeout! Such a cute hidden place in North Burnaby near Brentwood Mall. They have a large selection of specialty rolls, bento boxes and other combos. Although the people running it are not Japanese, they still do a decent job with quality and authenticity of the food.
Great place for good, quick Japanese food. Good quality, good value. Customer service be could be a bit better but overall a great casual Japanese restaurant and much better than any where else in the area.
The All Day Special is great because you can pick any 3 items! I love variety 😛 I tried their Salkon Oshi Sushi and it's quite good. I recommend it and it's about $8 which is a half the price at Miku (which is another Japanese restaurant that's famous for their aburi oshi sushi). Sushi Yoi is just beside Brentwood Mall so it's pretty easy to get to, and best of all they do free delivery! Only downside is that I find their salmon sashimi a bit on the fatty side. The service is really good and the servers are very attentive and quick.

Check out Sushi You in North Burnaby, where you can get 3 rolls of sushi and miso soup for $10!! The sushi tastes great and the quality is amazing. Dine in, if you have some time, the atmosphere is good, and the staff is great! This is our go to spot for sushi in Burnaby right now.
This is my new sushi spot in Burnaby for sure. Excellent value, great fresh sushi, super duper fast friendly service and nice decor. Way better than Sushi S, Sushi Motto and Sushi Garden.
An relatively average lunch joint for office workers at Brentwood competing with Sushi Garden or Miki. It wont win any awards but it will provide a good meal
We order the delivery all the time and this is by far one of the best places in burnaby. Sashimi pieces are large compared to other places. Will not order from any where else. You won't be disappointed. My boyfriend is a huge fan and he never is impressed so that's saying a lot.
Good Value. Been here a number of times since they opened and they seem pretty consistent! Much better than Sushi Garden(so-so) up the street or Miki (terrible). Have tried most of their negiri sushi and enjoyed all but the uni as it tasted old. Miso soup is ok and their special rolls are fun, but not amazing. Stick with the classics and you'll do well here!
Very fast delivery when they are delivering.. never between 1030am and 12pm or before 4pm on some days.
A Burnaby Gem! Just eating Sushi Yoi from the comfort of my hotel - fast delivery - unreal sushi ! The Mango Dragon Roll and the San Fransico Roll are highlight reel material . Very very impressed with the creativity, taste and attention to detail -

I managed to find great value at Sushi Yoi, and the three-item combo is practically a steal! Most of the items were decently prepared and Sushi Yoi is a good choice if you’re on a tight budget or happen to be hungry near Brentwood Mall. The service was pretty much non-existent after all my food was served, but the staff (including the cooks at the back) was friendly.
After our original dinner plans were derailed, Sara and I were searching for a new spot to address our hunger. We came across Sushi Aoi in North Burnaby that appears to be a fairly new addition to the area. With the abundance of sushi in the area, I am super picky whenever a new restaurant appears in the tall grasses of North Burnaby. Sushi Yoi seems to have passed my initial judgements – at least for now.
This is a Chinese-owned Japanese restaurant that offers generous portions with reasonable prices. We had a late lunch so service was prompt and attentive. We plan to return after my veggie month. That unagi bento box is calling me...
