Noodle Paradise is the new reincarnation of Jane’s Restaurant. The new owners have kept the iconic breakfast menu, but have introduced authentic Thai-style dishes to their lunch and dinner menu. The chef and co-owner is from Chang Mai, and her passion for bringing a taste of her country to Burnaby is inspiring.
This place is a gem! It is a clean, comfy diner has a wide selections of great food. The owners are Thai and Canadian-born couple. They have authentic Thai food, as well as the good old burger and fries. We went many times to try out different Thai noodles that they serves – all are impressive, good portion, and with lots of fresh ingredients. My daughter had their burger and fries; it was also excellent. The fries were crispy. The burger was not greasy, with health garnish. We kept going back to try different things; there was never anything that we don’t like and we are picky eaters. Both service and price were also good; certainly were the reasons we return.
Disclaimer: *This was a complimentary meal. This post was not edited or written for monetary compensation, and are solely my opinions and observations. The owner did know that I was there to dine as a blogger. The restaurant and Zomato had generously offered a free entree, so I decided to check out the place. We went around 4:30pm on a Saturday, and there were 2 single men eating away. We sat in a booth that had torn areas, but for the most part, I thought the place was cleaner than I expected.
Janes is very eclectic and interesting. I've noticed people come here for breakfast but I decided to be the wacky customer that ordered the thai dishes on the menu and to my surprise it was good! Ordered the chicken basil stir fry and my bro the Lad Nah, this dish was a bit of a challenge to mix the gravy and crispy noodle. The only thing I wasn't into was the Wonton soup broth was a bit on the sweet side.
I’ve been a bit gun shy of Chinese Canadian restaurants for the past while now due to a nasty bout with food poisoning I had at one a couple of years back. However, I heard that Jane’s had changed hands and was now also sporting Thai food on top of the typical Chinese Canadian fare! Perhaps it was the old red booths, or perhaps the Apple Crumble and Ice Cream special, but this place drew me in for a visit!
Jane's at the Heights is in a neighbourhood I very rarely go to. Wouldn't have gone today except Zomato sent me a voucher for one free main, so when I was catching up with a friend I suggested we try it. It's a smallish diner with a very interesting and rather extensive east-and-west something-for-everyone menu.
yes, surprisingly but considering the value, free wifi, and the old-fashioned booths from the 70s. Like its low=pressure atmosphere i can sit here for hours working on my laptop lol.
ordered their lunch special, honey garlic pork, tasty and good value for $10.95 too much rice even! lol good portion of veggies too.
free parking all around.
nice service. debit/credit all good here. Easy to use online ordering too.
Now the menu is western, the menu is chinese, but the menu is delicious. This unique spot is definitely worth stopping by. I love the spring rolls and veggie chow mein.
Simple breakfast done so well. My favorite spot in the neighborhood for a delicious morning meal. Excellent prices and a wonderful family offering the best service.
I often have a huge conflict at home when it comes to food. My husband always wants some kind of Western food, and I Asian food. Where should we go then? If you have the same problem, this restaurant is your solution!
We like pretty much everything there; Hawaiian Fried Rice, Khao Muu Dang, Sweet & Sour Pork, Pulled Pork Poutine and burgers. I recently tried their Club house sandwich and it was yum! For breakfast, try their egg benny or Denver Omelet.
The prices are really reasonable. Cleanliness is important to us and it looks pretty darn clean in their kitchen. And the restaurant is licensed which gets an extra point from my hubby.
Great breakfast. Been going here for years and love it. family run greasy spoon. 4.50 breakfast how can you go wrong.
A Taste of Retro. It looks like a total dive. 1970s-era wood panelling, dark red carpets, an antique fridge and an AM radio blaring tunes from a forgotten era.
This place reminded me of small-town Chinese diners that were sprinkled across the country between the 1970s-1980s. My parents ran one for over 10 years. At the time I never really appreciated "Canadianized" Chinese food like chop suey, egg foo yung and all that. But this style of Chinese food, much of it tweaked imports from villages in southern China, is slowly disappearing off the map as the older immigrants retire and move on.
My wife and I had one of their combo specials: BBQ pork fried rice, fried chicken wings, and wonton soup, as well as a dish of Buddha's Feast. The flavours and presentation sure brought back memories. Almost exactly the same as what I used to have in the 80s. It was great!! They don't make this stuff in "real" Chinese restaurants these days, most of which try to be upscale. This is a humble little establishment, which style of Chinese food likely hasn't changed at all since the day it opened.
The flavours were wonderful and memory-evoking. The wonton filling in the wonton soup are made of pork and water chestnuts, old-school style. No "upscaled" shrimp-filled wontons. The fried chicken wings were big and puffy from the batter, perfect with a packet of Wing's plum sauce. The fried rice was properly made with day-old rice. We reminisced about the old days.
I'm already looking forward to going back for my next retro fix. There are few old-school eateries like this left, especially in Vancouver. Quite likely after this generation there won't be any left.
Great Value!. Great price for breakfast.
Out of all the north Burnaby chinese food restaurants, Jane's has the best. The chow mein seems bland but has the usual veggies in it. Add soya sauce to it and it's great.
I definitely recommend this place over any other Chinese food restaurant in the area, especially because of the prices. Awesome lemon chicken!
It is exactly what you would expect for a Chinese/Canadian restaurant. Not much to look at but great value, great taste and friendly service.
This place is popular for it’s $3.95 breakfast. You get the choice of meats, 2 eggs, potatoes and toast.
Every once in a while I crave breakfast it's a rarity but how can I say no to the urge? So my search began for a good restaurant that offers a great value for what you get. Typically restaurants seem to overcharge for something as simple as pancakes and m
