I love it, I wasn't sure if they have something weird but no way the food was delicious. If you have the time and want to tried it you won't regret.
My friend messaged me telling me about this place and after doing a quick search, this asian-owned boil on Hastings caught my attention as a must-try. . We ordered the seafood feast with crab and paid an additional cost for the pasta, because why not. When the crab boil was cooked, the waiter came over and dumped the pot of seafood over the table and placed the bucket on the side for empty shells. A wooden board, mallet (for the crab), and disposable gloves were also provided.
Great place to go for a group of people or families. The same concept as Crab Pot in Seattle, but without the three hour drive and American currency. Took my family there when they first opened a few years ago, and the kids liked the idea of not using utensils and plates. Food was to their liking too: pasta, clams, mussels, sausages, corn, potatoes and crab...plenty of variety. The kids (and adults) were pleasantly surprised with the frozen dessert (Asian freezies in flavors like lychee, pear, coconut, mango) given free of charge at the end of our meal. For our family of four, we ordered two of the Combo B's and it was more than enough for us. Went there this week with a group of friends. The restaurant has added a large tv since I've been there last. The décor is still the same, but we were there for the food and not really the ambience. We found that ordering 8-9 Combo B's was sufficient for 12 adults. The service was good: they were always quick with our water pitcher refills and napkin requests. Our group was done within 1.5 hours...we were hungry and the food came out quickly. It's a small restaurant, so either make a reservation or go early for dinner. There's plenty of parking in the area: a lot behind the restaurant and of course, street parking.
If it wasn't so dull and cheaply decorated, I would have frequented this place a lot more. The food is great, ample seafood with pasta and tasty spicy sauce.
Went for Mother's Day dinner. Place was packed. Had to wait about an hour before food arrived. Good thing we ordered appys. Calamari and yam fries were delicious. Ordered three crab combos. Food was very tasty with their everything sauce. The mild spicy tasted a lot better than no spicy. Eating off the table was a unique experience! Definitely not a first date restaurant eating with hands and spitting out crab shells lol. Would recommend to friends just for the experience. Don't go if you are in a rush, kitchen is slow if busy!
I liked this place a lot. Some of the negative reviews made me a bit reluctant to try but I'm glad I have it a shot. My friends and I ordered combo B as it has crab and the seafood was cooked perfectly. I had no issues with the shrimp like some of the other reviewers although some of the mussels were tiny. Not a huge deal as everything else was great!
Fun & Delicious seafood feasting, but hard-to-find locatoin. Probably one of the very few real seafood-oriented restaurants in town other than fish+rice=sushi.
The dungeness crab is very fresh. Definitely the place to go for seafood and shellfish lovers (we ordered the so crab so good combo B in holy smoke flavour came with crab, shrimp, clam, mussel, and corn, sausage, potato).
The waitress recommended the HOLY SMOKE flavour, we liked it, it was spicy and flavourful.
Btw, BEER there is cheap,
It taste really good, make me want to go back again in the same day. Especially the "Works" sauce with the seafood so match. In hot summer day it is hot overthere.
My favorite Seafood place!. This place is amazing. All the seafood from this restaurant is very very fresh. The calamari and yam fries taste awesome.
The owner is extremely friendly, as are all the staff members.
Will definitely recommend all my friends to come here for good quality seafood.
Great experience!. My husband and I heard about So Crab So Good from our friends who had a great X'mas party at the restaurant. Our friends like the seafood there so much they've visited many times, so me and my husband decided to try too. We loved the seafood! They're very fresh. I especially love the bread that comes with the combo.
Their crab and oyster are fantastic! Very fresh and protion is quite generous. Lots of different sauces to choose from, i tried 'holy-smoked' & 'hala-cajun' and loved both. Not a very big restaurant but atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Enjoyed my dinning experience there, and will definitely visit again. Recommend to seafood lovers.
Fresh seafood with generous portion. Vancouver finally has a good seafood restaurant to go. The seafood was fresh and the portion was generous. Their 'holy smoke' sauce was awesome. However, order took some time to arrive. Maybe should hire some more staffs. Overall, my experience in So Crab So Good is pretty nice and will definitely come back again.
Seafood so fresh so good. I'm a seafood lover and i found the restaurant while drove by. so i have decided to check the food out since i'm always a seafood person.
The restaurant and atmosphere was pretty couzy.
My friend and i order So Crab So Good combo B for 2 (comes with dungeness crab and everything) and the seafood was pretty fresh, the crab is awesome.
The portion was pretty generous and seasoning was amazing, we ordered the Holy Smoke flavour. Spicy with lots fresh garlic. We loved it!
It was indeed a very entertaining dinning experience and delicious food, getting food poured onto the table and just eating straight with your hand.
Amazingly good seafood! Recommended.. I've always been a seafood lover, and also a very picky glutton.
Last week my friend and I went to So Crab So Good and ordered a combo for two. Their sauce was AMAZING! Lots choices for different palates.
And most importantly the seafood was fresh.
I'll definitely visit again, and I'd recommend So Crab So Good to my friends.
Nice fresh seafood. I went to So Crab So Good for lunch today with my wife and I really like their fresh sea food.
The owner was very friendly. I asked many questions and he answered all my questions very well.
We had fired corns with their cajun seasoning for appetizer and it was delicious.
We ordered the sea food combo for two and it was one of the best seafood that I had in Vancouver. The sea food was fresh and the 'holy smoke' sauce that the owner recommended had lots of flavor. The sea food combo is $15.99 per person and the portion was pretty generous. The combo included prawns, mussels, clams, sausages, corns and potatoes.
I will definitely go back to So Crab So Good in the future.
Hey guys! For those tired of using utensils to eat seafood with, So Crab So Good attempts to fill this niche. Is their style of having you eat your food from a wax-lined table the right way to eat seafood or should you just order a plate of spaghetti? Read on to find out. Food: Team Tastic came here for a Sunday noon lunch and we ordered a Combo A (~$15 per person). This comes with a bread roll starter but the main attraction is the seafood. The table gets lined with some sterile wax paper and out comes a bowl of hot prawns, penne, corn, mussels, potato, and sausage . If a hot mess is how you wake up in the morning, you must be really tasty because this hot mess of seafood and sausage is great! You get gloves to wear so you don’t have to worry about dirtying your fingers. Digging in, it’s pretty easy to get full just from the pasta and the spicy level is up to you (medium is my limit here). I’ve never seen any other restaurant in Vancouver do this yet so this was a true novelty to eat and reflect on. Be cautious of the mussels as they come out super hot and spicy since they’re mixed with all the seafood juices. Yummy in my books, I definitely think this place deserves some more love. Features: This restaurant is located on the second floor of a building complex so you need to walk up some stairs. The washroom is quite tiny but it’s an average bathroom. You get a great view of Hastings Street from the second floor perch and the vibe is super casual since everyone is eating with their hands. Service: We were the first ones in so we didn’t have to worry too much about service. The server provides all the utensils you need and food came out about 15 minutes after our bread rolls which were instant. Payment was made at the main counter and they take all payments. One-liner: A novel way of eating seafood in Vancouver Highlight: Slurping up mussel juice from a handheld mussel Recommended for: Nommers who love to eat with their hands Would I go back? Yes. If you have visited Crab Pot Seafood and Bar down in Seattle, you should know that So Crab So Good is the Vancouver version. The highlight of these places is that you order a combination of seafood mixed in a seasoning of your choice. It is then placed on sanitized tables for you to gorge on.
