BEST VALUE IN TOWN. SWISS CHALET - Lougheed Hwy, Burnaby, BC 3/1/2011
We saw lot of TV ad about the famous BBQ RIBS from SWISS CHALET recently; it looks so good in the ad. We were thinking that we must try their RIBS, we had their BBQ chicken before, I wasn't very impressed, quite often the BBQ chicken is dry and lack of any taste in the meat other than the skin. The source comes with the chicken wasn't my type of taste favor.
Few of the reviews in this site are rather unfavorable about their service and food. It's very discouraged but we keep an open mind. To my surprise, we were greeted by a very friendly Head Waitress take us to a table, explain to us the Special of the Day and some items in the menu. I haven't been SWISS CHALET for some times, the menu seems changed and appears to be more items and more package deals. I actually don't know what to order but order 1 FULL RACK OF BBQ RIBS with Mashed Potato. As we don't know how big the order is, we were thinking 2 orders but the waitress suggest that one order may be enough for us two. The portion is awesome; it's so big we almost can't finish it. The Ribs is tender and very tasty. The whole dinner for two only cost us less than $22.00 what a deal. The service is very professional and efficient; the food is very tasty and very good value. I highly recommended to all of my friends.
Juicy Value. I am an admitted SC addict. Where else can you get 1/2 a juicy chicken and all the dipping sauce you're not embarrassed to ask for with a salad for twelve bucks?
We were both a bit hungry, so we ordered the Chicken Spring Rolls to start. They're hand rolled with chicken and sweet bell peppers. The dipping sauce is plum. Despite having to wait awhile for this to arrive to the table, it was quite crispy and tasty.
It's weird how M can find so many commercials of food when he doesn't even have a TV. Sure enough, he saw this and wanted to order Swiss Chalet online. Since we were already going out to run errands, we decided to order online and go into the restaurant to pick it up. We set our order to be picked up at 9pm. There were even special parking spots for people who were just picking up. They were spots closest to the door! Since we fought off the snow storm and ended up a few minutes early, we had to wait a little bit for our meal to be ready. After talking to the waitress about her day, it seems like the online service is actually working! Their kitchen was so swamped getting out all the online orders. Perhaps it was a snowy day and people wanted take out. Since our order was about 10 mins late, they have us complementary pop as we waited. Very nice touch! M commented it was perhaps the most "homey" type of restaurant he has ever seen in Canada. He liked the service, but I just looked at h
It has been a busy month - I'm sorry for not posting as often! This post is mostly out of blog-ignoring guilt, and partially in celebration of the location of our new rental house near(er) to a Swiss Chalet. We were big Swiss Chalet supporters in Edmonton
