It’s about time we tried Boiling Point! Sometimes, I feel like such a shameful blogger when I have yet to visit popular restaurants in the city. Do any other bloggers feel the same way?

We enjoy coming to this place for hot pot! The hot pot menu is quite wide. They are generally delicious apart from the pork blood which we are reluctant to try.

Attentive service and plenty of seating available.

Korean kimchi pot is wonderful! But a bit expensive at night because no drink is included in the price. Overall it’s a good choice of hotpot.

Mini wok on a box. Perfect for those who are craving hot pot (or something to warm their souls during these winter days), but too lazy to prepare hot pot ingredients, then this is the place to be at.

They have a variety of preset hot pots to choose from while customizing the level of spiciness. You can also choose to add in extras and the level of spiciness (from 7 levels). My personal favourite is house special and the beef one. Anyone who loves super spicy should consider the flaming spicy (the most spicy).

This also saved us from arguing to choose a soup base that we would both enjoy, as in regular hot pots. And, not to mention, you won't ever have to worry about using a 'public spoon/chopsticks' as the pot is all yours.

Definitely left a satisfying warmth within me.

Perfect time of the year to enjoy your meal here, comfort food in your own individual hot pot. Super tasty and they offer various condiments to choose from, especially enjoyed the garlic sauce.
Lunch and dinner size are identical, lunch pricing is a couple dollars less and includes either a cold green tea or black tea.

Boiling Point offers Taiwanese style hot pot. There are three locations in Great Vancouver area - Burnaby, Surrey, and Richmond. The price of food is very great, especially around lunch time. The lunch combo is including hot pot, rice or noodles, and bubble tea. You can spend $12.99 for decent lunch.  Great experience.

Hot pot here is great! They offer a wide variety of different Taiwanese hot pot options, all at a pretty decent price. Also, they offer bubble tea, but would probably not recommend because it's only okay.

Visited Boiling Point with P. Rice is just normal rice, soup is not too much MSG as I have not had water for 5 hours since eating this, and still do not feel thirsty. I had the House Special, choice #1, full of smelly tofu and pig intestine. DELICIOUS. Will go back to try the other flavours. Not much time to write… Hitting the road tomorrow morning to see what it’s like in the US of A, and will be back on Tuesday!

Boiling Point…it’s one of those names that floats into conversations from time to time. Honestly thought it was some sort of new Chinese Hot Point joint like Mongolian Hot Pot. It was the subject of today’s visit, and although I wasn’t far off, I wasn’t quite right either!

Boiling Point is a Taiwanese establishment known for their delicious individual sized hot pots. They serve a variety of hot pot flavours ranging from Japanese Miso, Thai, Spicy Taiwanese, and many more. Each hotpot contains a unique myriad of ingredients according to the soup base chosen. For each hot pot, you can customize the spice level from mild, medium, and spicy. Additional toppings may be added at an extra cost, but I personally think there are enough ingredients loaded in each hot pot!

I'm at it again ~ eating piping hot food in 30 degree weather! ...a little sweat isn't going to stop me! .   A few summers ago (in Taipei) I ate hotpot 3-4 times a week!! In Taiwan, personal hotpot can be had for as little as 100 TWD ($4!) Stinky tofu hotpots, seafood hotpots, coca cola hotpots (yes that's a thing)...I definitely had my fair share of hotpots that summer!

Nowadays I don't eat hotpot that often...due to the lack of personal hotpot restaurants in Van (my preferred method of eating hotpot.) I think personal hotpots are a Taiwanese/Japanese thing? (Japanese as in shabu-shabu.) Chinese style hotpot is eaten family style (with a huge communal pot in the centre.) As much as I love places like Little Sheep, I still prefer having my own little pot!!

If I'm not mistaken, Boiling Point is the only restaurant (in Van) that specializes in Taiwanese-style personal hotpot!! It's pretty authentic...they even have stinky tofu and winter melon tea!! I enjoyed this visit more than my last visit, I'm definitely going to be frequenting this place in the winter!

The four of us got seated right away at 11:30am on a weekday. I tried the seafood tofu pot. I noticed the ingredients aren't consistent even though my coworker ordered the same pot. Specifically, she got soft tofu and I got dried tofu. Not quite a big fan of dried tofu though. The broth is mild and there seems to be less msg than I expected. You get to choose level of spiciness and rice or vermicelli to go with the meal. There was also complimentary iced black/green tea at lunch. The menu on Zomato is outdated and the price now went up by $1 or so. Overall it's not bad for the price we paid. Will go back probably in winter.

We arrived to The Boiling Point, Burnaby at quarter to 8. Waited for 30 minutes, to get seated, ordered food right away, and waited for 30 minutes more for the food to arrive. They ranout of rice, so they had to make more and waited 15 more minutes for the rice to come; by that time we already finished half the hotpot.
Service was slow, most servers are young but they can't speak English well. Our server was a trainee, I only picked up half of what she was saying. We had the Beef and the Korean Bean Hot Pot.
The food was very good, we will come for more, but don't expect the greatest service.

$12 a hotpot, veggies, meat/seafood, noodles and rice.
Can't complain.

Expect long waits during winter though

First of all, expect long wait! The hotpot is so yummy, especially together with their signature sauce combo! Tried the ice cube (pretty much ice cream that is made a bit harder in texture in a cube shape), not so impressive

Perfect individual hot pot place. It's clean, cheap and has friendly service staff. This location gets packed with line ups right around 6pm so make sure you go early. My favorites are beef pots ($11) and the thai spicy pot ($18) order flaming spicy if you want a challenge! I dare you! Omg also the ice cubes are to die for so perfect for after super hot boiling pots in your tummy. Taro cube is my favorites!!!

SPICY! Man, the stuff here is spicy! The two chili pepper nearly killed me, maybe it was because of the boiling hot soup paired with the chili peppers in it. If you can't handle heat, best to go with 1 chili pepper or .. none. If you go in a couple, there's barely any wait but if you have 3-4 people they'll most likely be a line up.

Quality of the food is good and clean. Soup is good but it'd be better if they were a biit more generous with the meat (I only had 4 thin slices of meat in mine).

The bubble tea here is great! The Hokkaido Milk Tea is definitely my favorite.

Service can be a hit or miss, sometimes it's around a 15 minute wait but sometimes when it gets busy, the server forgot to punch our order in so we waited nearly 45 min. I was tempted to just walk out...

I would go again but with a cautious to really watch over your server just to see if he punched it in... otherwise you'll just have to wait an hour for your hot pot to come.

I really enjoyed the old time delight black tea. It had a hint of floral flavour to it and a slight sweetness. I thought this was a good pairing with all of the hot soup and would order it again. Spicy Fermented Tofu. I was brave enough to at least try the stinky tofu, but I found it really disgusting. This isn’t any fault of the restaurant, I just can’t get over the pungent smell of the dish.

T: Nicely portioned and balanced in terms of protein, veggies, and carbs. You can taste the flavours of each ingredient in the soup (and some msg). The meat is not overcooked, which says to me they have been freshly added just before serving. At the end I feel satisfied and enjoyed the unique way the food was served. My favourite is the beef pot on medium spiciness: beef slices, tofu, imitation crab, corn, fish cake...good stuff!

A: My favourite is the lamb pot without the preserved mustard greens. I love to go here on cold rainy days, as it warms my stomach right up. Lunch is the best time to go. For $10.99 it comes with rice and a drink (green tea or black tea) and you can change rice for vermicelli if you prefer less carbs.

I got the Japanese miso hot pot ($15.99): There’s lots of good things in here, bean curd, enoki, udon, crab, egg, fish ball, tofu, plenty of nappa cabbage and pork… It also comes with a bowl of rice. Unlike the locations in Cali though, the branches in BC does not offer the choice between vermicelli or rice. $15.99 sounds a bit steep for personal hotpot, but considering the huge portion size, I think it’s worth it. I always have leftovers that I bring home. Put in my own ingredients into the soup and I have another meal! There’s just something addicting about the broth. I usually don’t eat rice, but it’s just so good with the savoury soup. I have a friend who used to work at Boiling Point and he pretty much said that MSG is the secret though. Boiling point also makes their own garlic soy paste/sauce and dou ban jiang (spicy bean paste) which were delicious. KitKat was just eating the sauce straight up on its own before our food came (albeit, we were all starving).

I also love their Hokkaido milk tea ($4.25 +50cents each for boba and pudding). The flavour of the hokkaido milk was compelling and aromatic. I especially like the texture and consistency of their pearls, which are a bit smaller and chewier than most other places that offer bubble tea. The pudding was also smooth and full of eggy custard flavour.

Boiling Point had a full house when we arrived at around 7:15pm. We were told that the 5 of us would have to wait for close to 30 minutes, but it turned out to be more like 15. I have to mention that Boiling Point is pretty notorious for their bad service and not so friendly staff. But when I’m out having a good time with friends, I usually overlook that aspect. Until I find a better place that offers tasty personal hot pots, I’ll probably keep coming back to Boiling Point

Taiwanese style hot pot. You get individual size hot pot here, and you can choose among the combos such as stinky tofu pot, japanese miso pot, seafood pot, beef pot, lamb pot, etc.. All these individual pot comes with a bunch of standard ingredients and a bowl of rice, but you are always welcome to order side orders if you want extra food. They also sell drinks and flavored ice cubes as a palette cleanser kinda thing. It's great to eat here during winter time and everyone can order whatever suits their taste. However it is quite difficult to track down a server if you need something, as they get very busy during cold days and they are just running around.

I don't eat a ton of hot pot, but this place was highly recommended by someone I know who does, and I'm officially converted to this Chinese specialty. The soup both is totally unique, nothing like Japanese Ramen or Vietnamese Pho. The individual sizes soups are packed full of delicious ingredients and doing the experience fun to explore what I'd be eating next. The free iced tea was a great touch for lunch time and was super yummy! I'll definitely be back!

Because each hot pot bowl has different ingredients, they each have a distinct flavour, which makes it different than most cook-it-yourself hot pot places.

Scorching hot heat and hot pot soup do not sound like an attractive idea at the moment, but it does not stop me from dining at Boiling Point, a Taiwanese restaurant in Burnaby. I have been to this location and the Richmond one many times in the past, but this time it is a free meal. Thank you ChineseBites for inviting me! The restaurant is air conditioned which definitely made my meal even more enjoyable.

I've been to this place once before a long time ago, so it was nice being able to see their new items. The decor throughout the restaurant is very cute and doesn't make you feel like your in your usual ghetto asian hot pot place. They do serve individual sized pots so if your looking for a family-style this is not the place to be..........

Yummy, tasty, delicious hot pot! ChineseBites invited a group of foodies to try out Boiling Point in Burnaby last week. Boiling Point specializes in Taiwanese hot pot and has 2 locations in BC and 15 more in the USA. The Burnaby location is on Kingsway, near Royal Oak. Boiling Point's House Special is the authentic Taiwanese Fermented Tofu Hot Soup (#1 on the menu). They currently offer 10 diverse hot soups on their menu and is continuing to develop new combinations and flavours, which we had the opportunity to try. They have specially made combinations of ingredients for each hot hot instead of having the customer choose a hodge-podge of ingredients and ending up with a sludge soup. This way the soup tastes different depending on which hotpot you order.

Had a wonderful foodie meetup at Boiling Point this evening. The staff were extremely gracious and accommodating. They explained everything on the menu and served it beautifully. I really liked everything; my favourite was probably the beef hot pot (#4). We also got a chance to try all 3 different types of noodles (which they sell packaged) all of which were delicious. I was not a fan of the fermented tofu (their speciality) but my thoughts are that it is like stinky cheese, some people love it and some hate it. It wasn't for me. Oh and their bubble tea is delish!

Boiling Point is a chain restaurant originated in USA, and now they have a couple locations in BC. One is in Richmond, and the other is in Burnaby. This is quite a unique restaurant concept, where their specialty is serving hot soup dishes, kinda like the chinese hot pot. There are various different hot soup to choose from. Since I like spicy stuff, I went with the Korean Kimchi Hot Soup, and I asked it to be ‘Very Spicy’.

Good.. The service was so good! Our server was very friendly and nice. The taiwanese hot pot was VERY VERY spicy, my boyfriend could barely eat it. I had the thai soup hot pot and it was fairly good. A little pricey for hot pot ($16); i wouldn't order those ones again but I'd try the other ones. I had the iced lemon tea which had way too much ice.... I'd come back however.

My wife and I came to Boiling Point in Burnaby on Friday night. The place was crowded and luckily we were able to get a good seat right away. The service has improved a lot since last time we came in. All waiters/waitresses were very friendly and we love the fact that both food and drinks came to our table very fast within 10 min of ordering!
Our hot pots were awesome and drinks were great! Excellent combination & we certainly will recommend our friends and family to come check out this restaurant.

Full!. Went in today for dinner, was greeted immediately and seated quickly. Food was good and the portion was hospitable. Previous reviews suggest the lack of meat and got a lot cabbage; yes there was a large amount of cabbage but the amount of meat was equally large. Food came within minutes after the order was placed, but drinks did take some time to arrive.
We ordered a plate of mango shaved ice, it was full of mango chunks and the ice was not just regular crushed ice; it's actually made out of milk and was in very fine texture.

Service was okay just like any other asian owned restaurants, I'm not really keen on the service at this kind of dinning setting.

I would go again especially with summer in the rearview mirror.

Boiling Point is a Taiwanese hot pot joint from California with two locations in BC: one near Metrotown and another in Richmond! Hotpot is near and dear to my heart haha, because it brings me back to Taiwannn, the motherland!! 100 yuen ( $3 Canadian) hotpots were totally my thing haha! When you walk in you're greeted with "Huang Yi Guan Ling!" and that dreaded stinky tofu smell hits you in the face...hard! For an overseas joint, Boiling Point is pretty authentic! Every hotpot combo comes with rice and iced tea! We got a green and black tea!  Miso Hotpot (Large) No Spicy 4/5 stars After perusing the menu options I settled on the Miso Hotpot! I was going to get their Stinky Tofu Hotpot, but turns out the Tofu, Beef, and Lamb hotpots all have peanut oil in it! Just a heads up for all you peanut sensitive people! Most of their hotpots are regular size, except for the miso, Taiwanese spicy, and Thai flavours, which are all large! This was about 25% larger than the regular size. The soup

I figured that I should post about this particular revisit because we went for lunch this time. Even though the menu items remain the same for lunch and dinner, if you come by for lunch, you get to have it in combo form so they’re $1 cheaper AND it comes with a drink! Since we have been here a few times over the past few months, we have gotten to know boiling point’s “perfect sauce” which consists of a mixture of their three signature sauces. Want to know what it is? Read on to find out! (:

Grayson and I have driven past boiling point for months now and just haven’t had the time to go yet. Ironically, we picked one of the hottest days in the summer to go for a hotpot dinner, it wasn’t the brightest idea we’ve ever had, but if hot pot was the craving of the day, we were going to go. There’s a decent amount of seating on the inside, they had booths for 2-3 people parties as well as larger tables for party groups.

Decided to head to Boiling Point in South Burnaby to satisfy my urge to dig into some boiling hot food.  With the design of the restaurant being extremely narrow we could never get the attention of the waitresses, especially when each table has a divider. I quite like the privacy given and stupidly enough none of us realized that they offered the service button. A button on the underside of the table where you can press and the waiters will come to you instead of waving your hands around like we did.  I got the lamb hot pot which also had Nappa, Vermicelli, Enoki Mushroom, Imitation Crabstick, Kamaboko, Pork Blood, Fried Tofu Skin, Maitake Mushroom, Clam, Sour Mustard, an

After my initial visit to Boiling Point at their Richmond location, I had the chance to try the place again in Burnaby. I personally like the look of the layout at this location more because most of the tables are segregated into booths for more privacy. This time I went with the Beef Hot Pot  ($11.99), which includes slices of beef, imitation crab, tempura, kamaboko, tofu skin, tomato, corn, enoki mushroom, nappa cabbage, vermicelli and a bowl of rice on the side. I chose to have my hot pot mild spicy, which was just the right amount of heat for me and the soup itself was nice and light. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and it was filling enough without the need for add-ons. I highly recommend their dipping sauces as well, so appetizing and amazing mixed with rice!
