Chopped scallop roll: Another one of our go-tos. The scallop was fresh and flavourful. There was a lot of scallop, to the point where it was bursting out of the roll! No complaints there.
Holy Crap!! this place is busy during lunch hour i was there with a sales rep CO we decided on the love boat (plz change the name) food was very good and quite filling. For how busy they were the service was outstanding and i would recommend this place if you don't mind the wait to be seated.
I've been to Sushi Garden on several occasions. I don't mind it. The sushi isn't spectacular but it is relatively good for the price. Reasonably priced... very affordable for dinner. Only downside is it does get fairly busy, so several times we've had to wait awhile or decided to go somewhere else. But the times I have eaten here were satisfactory.
This place is ALWAYS SO BUSY. If dining in, make sure your whole party is here when they call your name otherwise they won't sit you. If taking out, it is usually about 15-25 minutes of wait time.
Spicy Salmon/Tuna Sashimi Don - This is my absolute favourite from Sushi Garden. It is a huge portion. I am SO full each time after finishing this and if I eat a roll too well just say I have a hard time breathing for the next couple of hours. Big chunks of salmon or tuna. It is quite spicy! Lots of spicy sauce enough that it covers all the fish and your rice. Comes with fresh cucumbers that are super crunchy and green onions.
Prawn Tempura - This is probably the only place I get prawn tempura from other than AYCE. It is the cheapest our of all the Japanese restaurants I have been to $6.95 for 7 pieces.
Soft Shell Crab - I like how you can order a whole soft shell crab here. It is lightly battered and fried enough that it is still juicy.
Alaska Roll - Not like any other Alaska rolls you have ever eaten. The avocados are nice and mushy. I'm not sure what sauce they put on this, but it definitely works!
One of the best sushi places for cheap affordable and yummy sushi. Alaska roll here is my fav roll (avocado roll with salmon sashimi on top with yummy sauce on top) and it's only $4.95! Spicy salmon sashimi here is big portioned and mixed with diced cucumbers drenched in hot sauce for $9.95. Come early as all locations get packed during rush hour!
Food is always fresh and huge portions! I would say it's definitely worth the price. The service is lacking but eh, you get what you pay for.
Amazing, fresh and melts in your mouth. It's reasonably priced. I guess that's the reason why people keep on coming back for more. I can't wait for my next visit!!!
Busy location. Service is slow but the sushi is decent. Well priced. Vegetarians should try the spicy agedashi tofu and the yam tempura rolls.
I love this sushi resto. The prices are great and the food is fresh! The miso soup was one of the best I've had. I can't wait to go back. The sushi in Victoria (where I live) doesn't compare.
Went there at 11:30am on a weekday. It was pretty busy and the waitress seemed very rushed while she was serving us. The food came out quickly though, it tasted good, and the price was good. Would come here again but maybe in the evening when it's not so busy.
We love this place. Good sushi, big portions, quick service and cheap.
Great value. One of my favorite places to just stuff your face with some cheap but delicious sushi. their nigiri comes with a huge slice of fish, almost twice the length of the rice underneath. The salmon and tuna nigiri is around $1.20 each while the rolls are just $2.00 each. You can order a lot of cheap rolls and leave very satisfied without breaking your wallet.
Fresh Food, Cheap!. This place is typically the sushi goto for most people and business park workers within a 3km radius. While I always see people eating it via takeout in our buildings lunchroom, I have just now tried it for the first time sitting in for dinner.
I've been to the one on Kingsway and If I can remember correctly the menus are almost identical. There are a ton of options that are squeezed onto the 3-4 pages in small print. WE had the Alaska Roll which was good, a bit avocado heavy for me and it had a sauce on it that I had never tasted before in sushi? it was good though. A classic Dynamite roll which was very good. The gyoza was awesome, and the spicy salmon and tuna sashimi was very good. It all came to $23! Positive experience, big time.
One of the best visits. Have been to this Sushi Garden many times with my family in the past year. We went for the price and the food mainly (affordable, fresh and tastes alright). Yesterday we happened to go there for a late lunch/early dinner, and it turned out we got the best service we've had so far.
We went there around 4pm (on a Sunday, Canada Day long weekend) and they were not too busy at the time. I went up to the counter and got a table right away. The waitress, who seems to be a new face, was smiling and all. They gave us cold water and we requested 2 hot tea; they happily gave us the tea. Ordering went smoothly, the table was quickly filled with food. We received quite a few rounds of water/tea refills during the meal. At the end, when we asked for a bowl and container to pack the remaining food, very surprisingly we also got some utencils and soy sauce packets!! That's rare for any after-meal packing for any restaurant, and usually we'd be happy if we got the right containers at Sushi Garden. We also didn't need to line up for paying(or maybe just because we paid by cash this time instead of by card).
Overall, the whole family had a pleasant meal, and we decided that this is probably the best strategy, to come at a time when they are not busy (though for our family, it's not always possible). It's true their service is not optimal all the time, but it's understandable when they are super busy. It's stressful enough dealing with so many customers. At least they were being professional and calm while they're doing their job!
Decent Food & Prices. I always get the takeout from Sushi Garden, so I can't comment on the service (however the takeout service is fast and accurate).
Some of the rolls are really good (Alaska roll for example), but sometimes the rolls have too much rice. I also like the Spicy Salmon Sashimi. Compared to the portions, the price is relatively low. If you haven't tried this place, it's worth the try.
Service here is horrible.
food alright. Do take out rather than eating in I'd u decide to eat here
Get there early. Amazingly fresh. Good deal.
Good affordable sushi. This place has a great sushi collection (my favorite is the Fish Filet roll) and the prices are reasonable. Take-out's fast and efficient for the most part. Parking is an issue, but given that it's out of their control, it's still a great place to go to.
My all time favourite. Have brought dates here, wife, coworkers.
My all time fav Japanese restaurant. Everything is fresh, high quality and delicious direct from Japan. Sometimes there is a Japanese English language barrier going on lol. That fact that its always busy demonstrates their commitment to quality. Remember to make time as the wait could get quite long given the size of the restaurant.
Great food. Poor service, and the food takes a bit to get to you. Waitresses are not attentive at all.
The Spicey Tuna Sashimi is the best dish hands down - think of it as pre-marinated tuna ready for your taste buds !
No Complaints. I had always ordered from the Kingsway Sushi Garden and they have always been good. I don't see why this should be any different.
I have dined in here and the service was fine for me. I order take out here almost once a week and they have always been good.
The only problem that I think they have is the parking.
Great value. Not the most amazing thing I've ever tasted, but it was great value for the food we ordered. One of the cheaper japanese places with sashimi! I was surprised to see Salmon and Tuna chirashi don for only $9.50.
Freshest sushi ever. My husband has heard a lot about this place over the last few years, we tried it for the first time at lunch today.
Indeed the menus were amazing.
First thing I like is I see many lunch box style combos. They have sushi combos that are full of stuff and sushi. Much also in the way of non-sushi food, so if you like to mix things up like I think this is the best place for you most likely. It's almost a pain trying to figure out what to order.
So I got the roll combo, miso soup, and tuna sashimi. The roll combo and miso soup were great and fresh 4 star rating for them. The $8 order of sashimi was just ridiculously large. I really like large pieces of fish as sashimi. It's just great. Each piece needed to be cut in 3, so it's like a 27 piece order! I mean I could have just went to the fish market and bought a half frozen tuna steak and it whole there, it was the same experience but here it was so much cheaper and came with service.
The presentation is simply fantastic. So the order of sashimi brought my opinion of the food up greatly. I've eaten a lot of japanese and I don't think I've ever been that amazed. japanese food is made to be eaten.
Service was ok but not completely amazing. japanese after all.
Only good thing I can say is there is some value for the dollar as long as the food you get for it isn't gross.
My husband also loved every piece of sashimi. You never need to look to another area to get decent japanese. all for $20
Ummm it was ok !. The sushi hear was ok, the portions are big and its fairly cheap. I dont think the salmon was very fresh at all and the spicy tuna cone was very soggy and hard to eat. The service sucks not very friendly at all. I am still on the hunt for good sushi in BC.
Don't believe the negative reviews this place is great and the service is great! You really can't go wrong with the prices and the quality of food! Greeley experience
Really busy. If you don't get here early, you are going to wait in line for a table. And it is true you have to pay attention and make sure they bring all of what you ordered. When they get hit by a lot of take-out orders, they have a hard time keeping up with the volume. That being said, the food seems to be pretty good. Portion sizes are good too for the price. Menu is pretty standard, most of the stuff people want, and few things beyond the main-stream.
