Love the lunch buffet! My coworkers and I have been coming at least once a week since we discovered this gem
Recently went to this place for dinner and it was an absolute treat! Super clean, friendly service, and the best tasting indian food i have ever tries thus far. Prices were affordable they have a great wine and dine special thats around $35 for a couple from Thursday to Sunday! I have already made plans to return!
So Agra Tandoori Restaurant is nicely air conditioned and on these hot days that is definitely a must have. The food quality, quantity, selections and reasonable pricing are great. The staff and service also very good. The tables are clean and maintained and this restaurant is centrally located between Vancouver and Burnaby. What more could any sane hungry person want?
Needless to say but we will be back soon!!!
Very authentic Indian food here so if you only like curry in a hurry, don't bother. Some of the best curries I've had, lots of depth of flavor. $11 lunch buffet is above average if you're into that kinda stuff, but it's better to order from the menu when they are not cooking in bulk. Chicken tandoori portions are huge. Recommend the vindaloos, tika masalas, and dopiaza. Oh and don't forget the pakoras!
First time here because of a groupon deal. Great service and excellent food. Tried the chicken pakora, chicken karma, and a lamb dish (can't remember the name). Seasoned perfectly and great level of spice for medium. Portion sizes looked small at first but it was really filling. You can really taste the garlic on the garlic Naan, so good. Only negative is that the restaurant itself looked tired and could use a facelift. We'll be coming back!
One of the best Indian restaurants in the Greater Vancouver. Very reasonably priced.
I'd recommend an owner to work on the interior though - it's a bit tired already as well as tableware.
Waiters are very fast and friendly. Dishes appear on a table almost immediately.
The best butter chicken I ever had. The most of dishes are very good too.
Fantastic! Ordered take-out for dinner. Great value, fast, and delicious. So nice to find a place that doesn't skimp on spice, or on heat when you ask for "hot". Will definitely be back.
One of my first authentic Indian meals so didn't have much to compare it to but used a groupon and was very pleased with the price/value. Got the fish pakora (nicely fried), butter chicken (a classic!), tandoori mixed grill (lots of proteins and a tasty marinade) and a korma (forgot the protein but loved the sauce). Good food and good prices!
Had the dinner special wine and dine there about a week ago and am still craving the garlic naan. The butter chicken was
Exceptional it is something I've had time after time and it has never tasted so good. The service was great as well. I've already made plans to return and would recommend anyone in the mood for Indian food to do the same.
I believe the restaurant is under new management since the last time I visited. The owner and front end staff don't look familiar. Anyhoo, the change is a good one because the $9.95 lunch buffet has returned -woohoo!
The good:
-tandoori chicken is seasoned and cooked properly- tender and smoky with a nice touch of acidity from the yogurt marinade
- butter chicken had a nice tomato to cream balance
- goat curry: tender meat and tasty sauce (a little bit more meat and less bone would be even better)
- basmati rice was cooked well, not mushy
- unlimited naan
- servers were attentive and friendly, buffet dishes were checked and topped up as required
The bad:
- limited selection of dishes
- only 4 curries to choose from: goat, butter chicken, mixed veggie (green bean and potato) curry, and dal
- 1 dessert (the sweetened balls in syrup)
- 1 type of ice-berg salad
Overall, it provides good value for the food, which is tasty and well prepared. Saffron on Kingsway near Metrotown would still be my top pick, as they offer a much wider selection of grains, curries, salads, appetizers and desserts, but their lunch buffet is priced higher $14/15 weekday/weekend. Agra's tandoori chicken is much better than Saffon's though, but I do miss the rice and mango pudding desserts at Saffron's.
Good value, unsure if will repeat without the groupon deal. We came here with the 4 entree groupon deal and had the tandoori grill platter, a butter chicken, a fish curry, and a paneer curry to share and it was all very tasty, just nothing that sets the place apart from other Indian restaurants we've been to. While not Saffron levels of clean, the place was very clean and the service was great.
I'm just not sure if a repeat is in order without the groupon because at full price, the cost is at parity with some very tough competition.
Definitely be back.... Excellent value, super delicious India, very friendly service.
Delicious! Lamb was super tender, flavours were spot on and sauces not crazy oily. The paneer portion was a pleasant surprise and they'd loaded up their garlic naan! We were happy to see they delivered, but it did take a while. ..Could've been the trouble the driver had in finding us, but once it got here it was worth the wait.
Yummy for my tummy. We went there last night and used our Groupon. Food was delicious. We ordered fish pakoras for an appie and it was a substantial appetizer. The fish was cooked perfectly, not dry and not lathered in a lot of batter. For dinner we had lamb vindaloo, eggpland bartha, garlic naan, rice. The lamb was nice and tender without any fatty bits which you can sometimes find. The naan wasn't thick and greasy. I would highly recommend this place!
We live across the street from Agra and feel lucky to have it. The food is delicious, they always have good specials and the service is quick and friendly.
Excellent, very tasty meal and very good service.. Went with my family and a good friend for dinner at Agra Tandoori. Used a 4 person Groupon so saved a lot. Ordered 2 Shrimp Pankora appies and 4 Tandoori mixed grills. Everything was extremely well seasoned, with good spice and excellent flavours. Very authentic Indian cuisine. Service was very friendly and attentive. We'll be back, that's for sure. Nice to find a great Indian restaurant in Burnaby.
The lamb tikka is outa this world. Everything on the menu is fantastic.
Wow!. Amazingly wonderful perfectly spiced Indian food. Had lunch on a cold rainy day. The food was hot and incredible. The spices were smoothly blended and each dish exploded with fresh flavor. This was not like other Indian restaurants where the base to all dishes has a somewhat similar flavor. This was absolute perfection and each dish distinict. The bread had a sweet ghee that was slightly carmelized and melted softly. Oh, such an unexpected and savoury experience. It was Indian home cooking at its best.
Good experience. Tried this out instead of our usual favourite for variety sake. Very friendly, and the food was quite good. Tried a few dishes that we often order in other restaurants, and they did a good job with them. I would be happy going here again. Only complaint: they need a better selection of Indian beer, they only have one choice.
