Review Burnaby Palace Restaurant - Burnaby

This place has been around for ages, just on the Burnaby / Vancouver border. They’re catered to more of a “Western” flavor profile over traditional “Chinese”. Ordered the group dinner 3B. Comes with 3 spring rolls, chicken chow-mein, Buddha’s feast (assorted veggies), breaded lemon chicken , and ginger fried beef. We were able to substitute the breaded lemon chicken with house special chicken and pay the difference. This was plenty of food for a reasonable price. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Food is prepared quickly. We opted for delivery at a set time and it came a few minutes before (awesome)! 3.5/5 for the food! 5/5 for the service!

I had a pretty good meal, and the service was friendly and quick. The value here is better than most other comparable locales, I've had some take out in the past. Service was quick for pick up items, and the servings were pretty good. I'll go back and try their other menu items. Been back a few times more and found some of the beef dishes not up to par. Can be better.

Amazingly delicious meal with fresh and quality ingredients, serene decor, and great service. The best meal out I've had in a while, at a fantastic price.

Wonderful service! Server knew each item on the menu like the alphabet. Food was hot, perfect size portion, and most of all it was delicious! Best chinese food I have had in ages! ☆☆☆☆☆5 STARS THANK YOU BURNABY PALACE RESTAURANT

Again great food and good portions. It did not disappoint. We had the sweet and sour chicken balls - crispy chicken breast meat in a lovely light breading, crispy ginger beef - just the right amount of heat and ginger, soft chicken chow mien - flavored well and perfectly cooked, the vegetables lotus - crisp and cooked delicious flavor, and mandarin sweet and sour pork - mild sweet and sour with garlic. All were excellently prepared and had unique flavors to the dish. Thank you Burnaby Palace.

I have admittedly been going here weekly. Prices are extremely fair. Food is fresh and delicious. Portions are big and worth the price. I have never dined in, only take out but they do great take out and packaging keeps food warm.

Food is good, excellent price, portions are big (I usually share a plate). Fried rice is so tasty. I've never been to the restaurant, I order through Doordash app, and the food always came hot an well packed, it's out new favorite place.

Had some relatives visiting from out of town so we decided to visit this place given its proximity to our party and reasonably high ratings for a Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. Food was fairly disappointing. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

After countless years of driving past Burnaby Palace Restaurant, we finally tried the place out.<br/><br/>It is a typical Chinese restaurant as far as the atmosphere goes. However, we felt like the restaurant was a little dingy with a heavy odor of unpleasant spices. It is not a big restaurant, but they do have a room with large tables for bigger groups.<br/><br/>Overall, the food flavour was mediocre, but satisfying.<br/>

After countless years of driving past Burnaby Palace Restaurant, located at the corner of Boundary Road and Dominion, we finally decided to try the place out. The interior of this restaurant is actually fairly nice with coffered ceilings and bright light coming in from the windows. On the main floor, they have the smaller tables along the side next to the windows and a couple of large tables at the back of the deep and narrow restaurant (with a private room near the front).

Ordered take-out, husband showed up 40mins later as restaurant instructed, and order was not ready. Did not realize he waited yet an additional 50mins for order! He may be patient but I am not. Should have cancelled. Restaurant was apparently cooking and serving dining customers first and made take out patrons pay and wait. There was a line up of angry customers waiting for their orders. Seriously poor service and business practice.

We were recommended to try Burnaby Palace on Boundary, so we stopped by for dinner to check it out. We ordered the hot and sour soup, the house special chow mein, and the sweet and sour fish. The highlight was the fish, it wasn’t dry and combined with the sauce, it was tasty. The chow mein wasn't very good, not much flavour. The soup was fine, it's what you would expect, more sour than hot though.<br/><br/>Overall, it was a very average meal. The prices are fine, service was okay. We probably won't be back nor would we recommend.

First time here and good first time impression. Friendly staff and clean, though the place is a bit small. Wonton soup was delicious! The special chow mien was also tasty but the sauce was a bit too salty for my taste. Reasonable prices.

I'd advise not eating here if you have dietary needs that need accommodating. I ordered Burnaby Palace a few times, and I was excited to discover somewhere close by that made food that was vegetarian, and gluten free. On Christmas eve, for Christmas Dinner, I was delighted when we were able to order Burnaby Palace again. However, there was a) pork in the vegetarian dumplings, and b) clearly fish sauce sent with our food. As I have Celiac, and I can't risk having gluten (should something else have gone wrong, that was less obvious, in the other dishes) after discovering the pork dumpling/fish sauce, I didn't want to eat the rest of the food. The delivery service said they'd talk to them, and get them to re-send the food. They called me back, and told me they would only resend me the dish with pork (even though they couldn't promise that the other dishes were gluten free), and that they "didn't care" that they had messed up the order (and, I now have rice only for Christmas dinner..). Burnaby Palace has still not called me back about this, and that's ok...because the guy was so rude on the phone. Also, my parer and I wonder if they had served us spoiled food (as she was sick the following day, and isn't allergic to anything).

Hot and Sour Soup. Not too thick or thin, not too spicy but still with some kick, generous ingredients compared to other restaurants, quite consistent over the 8 years frequenting this restaurant old and current location.

NEVER AGAIN!. We booked a large party over one month in advance. Two weeks prior to the event , they called to confirm our reservation. I returned their call to confirm, provide final numbers and make the menu. All was good, until the day before the event, the called asking if we were cancelling. They claimed we didn't come to make a deposit and had to spend a minimum of $800 before taxes and tip (which they claim is their policy, neither of which is on their web site nor communicated at the time of reservation - or any of the previous telephone exchanges). He waffled in his answers when I asked about the status of my reservation and basically said he didn't want our business. He had another reservation with a higher price tag and told me to make other arrangements somewhere else. This is THE WORSE customer experience I've ever had. Bad business practices all around! Be warned - they don't care about you or delivering good customer service. They just want your cash and will compromise their reputation to make as much money as possible. HORRIBLE!!! For terrible customer service, and even worse customer communication (he was yelling at me because I was not spending enough money), call Wilson at Burnaby Palace... He'll take terrible care of you.

Disgusting food. Disgusting is being kind. Just gross. Fried rice noode with beef and bok choy should be fried! It arrived swimming in a pool of water all mushy. Lousy quality meat and no flavor. They should be embarassed to produce this type of food. I have given them several tries hoping they would redeem themselves. The place is always busy. Never again.<br/><br/><br/>-----24 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>Disgusting food. Disgusting is being kind. Just gross.

Disappointed. We won't be ordering food from Burnaby Palace again. Waited one and a half hour for the order to be delivered and when it arrived it was cold. We have ordered from here before and never had this problem. All I can say is next

Dishonest service. I ordered food for delivery at 4;30 pm.The owner said it will takes 45 mins.It was past 6pm my ordered hasnt arrived yet.<br/>I phoned the restaurant and complained the lady said the driver was on his way. She said the delivery man would be in my house in 10 mins.It was 6:45pm already the delivery man did not show up.They were not honest enough to tell me that theyve missed my order instead they lied to me.<br/>I will never placed an order with that restaurant anymore. I hate liars.

Packed with flavour. I don't know is it the msg? Deep fried squid, house special chow mein, schezuan fried rice, spicy green beans, ginger beef, beef and broccoli, all amazing, I recommend each of those dishes! I could eat some more right now...

Delicious and Fast. We order Burnaby Palace to our office daily. It is consistently fast, hot, and delicious. Our favourite dish is the house chicken, with the szechuan lamb as an ever-so-good second choice. An especially good combo is the lamb, the chicken, and a noodle dish. Mmm, it is actually difficult not ordering from there while typing this review..

NEVER ORDER FROM BURNABY PALACE. Our food did not arrive. At all. We tried for over an hour to phone the only contact number provided by Burnaby Palace and they never answered it (kept getting an automated message about an "access code" after 10-20 rings). A quick search for reviews reveals they do this A LOT. NEVER ORDER FOOD FROM "BURNABY PALACE" OR "CHINESE ONLINE ORDER SERVICE".

HAPPY DINER FROM COQUITLAM. On Saturday, January 11, 2014 we booked the private room for my husband's birthday celebration for 12 people. It was a very busy night with full house attendance. From a business point of view, if the house is full it must be doing excellent. We were very pleased with the quality of the food especially the 2-course Peking Duck. It's understandable that if the restaurant is packed the kitchen must be extremely busy too. So there was a little of wait time, Other than that we all left feeling very satisfied and contented, We were given complimentary "mango pudding"and we'll definitely go back again.

Worst Customer service & no delivery for delivered food ordered. We ordered delivered food for a group of 20 people in our office and this restaurant has got no courtesy even to return our calls. Forget about delivering food they didn't even bothered to inform us that we are not getting our food for the Christmas party we planned at our work. Certainly would recommend to all those who want to spoil their party.

"fantastic". The food and the service we received from this restaurant is fantastic!!<br/>food is great and prepared well. (non greasy)<br/>Atmosphere is clean and well decorated<br/>Staff is efficient and courteous <br/> Above all is "Wilson", he made our family dining experience very special. <br/>Dont miss this place. it was Right On!

Not bad, but can be improved.<br/><br/>Ordered some takeouts. Like them still hot & fresh after at least 15 minutes. Ginger beef, special fried rice, beef w. mixed veges, almond chicken, beef chow fun, veges chow mein, all quite good, but still think a bit too salty. Don't like the green beans, over-cooked. Next time when order, will request them for less sodium for all the dishes.

Good Westernized Chinese Food.. A few friends like to come here when they want to get sweet and sour pork and other western dishes. It's a clean place, and rather busy - the clientele is mostly Caucasian with Asians who are looking for this type of food.<br/>This is definitely not a place you'll ever go to for "authentic" Chinese food - rather, it's where you go when you want food you'll find at Manchu Wok or a T&T that's actually decent. But in a region where "Chinese food" gets you actual, authentic Chinese food, places like these serve the want for the opposite - westernized food that's decent, at a place that's friendly, with reasonable prices.

Great western Chinese food!. I love Chinese food but find a lot of it too greasy, so we've been on the hunt for a good restaurant for quite a while. tried Mr Ho's (apparently voted best in burnaby) but really wasnt impressed. I saw a Groupon for Burnaby Palace a couple months ago and after reading some of the reviews I was excited to purchase the voucher and check it out.<br/>it was great! not too greasy, delicious flavouring, quick service, and good prices! <br/>we've become regulars even though its not particularly close to our house, well worth the 20min drive for pick up. <br/>some of our favourite dishes are the Hot Spicy Wontons (amazing), Egg Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein (they make a great one!), and the Kung Pao Chicken.<br/>

Burnaby palace. Nothing spectacular here but reliably decent food and service. parking lot is very small so unless you arrive at before 5 or after 7 pm for dinner, just look for street parking.

Not the greatest I've had. The only order I really enjoyed was the chicken balls.<br/>Strangest chicken chow mein ever.

I like this place ok but my boyfriend loves this place. The fried fish and lemon chicken are good tho.

Good for Western Chinese. I wouldn't call this place authentic Chinese cuisine. Its decent prices for decent food. The fried rice is good, I asked for it with no lettuce since I only like simple egg, bbq pork in my fried rice and lettuce is a bit strange to add. <br/><br/>Good: Fried rice, house special chow mein, spicy wings, thick shanghai noodles with pork and cabbage.<br/><br/>Bad: Ginger beef, soggy and stuck together, all the deep fried tastes the same. Wontons are good but the soup is bland and a bit oily.<br/><br/>Everything for delivery comes in reheatable containers which are good for leftovers. All in all, I order from here now and again for the dishes that never fail, but if I want real Chinese food, I go to Sun Sui or Hons

Very friendly service, fast delivery with hot food, food is fair, eaten best to cure greasy chinese craving/hangover days

Have eaten here many times and miss it now living in Edmonton. Great western Chinese food, fair prices. Only ever ordered for delivery as the place is routinely very busy and hard to get a seat. They have fast, curteous delivery and great portion sizes. Wouldn't order Chinese anywhere else in Burnaby.

I almost want to like this place, it's not that bad. Looks good, with a pretty new renovation to the restaurant, and we had no service complaints. But the food was bland. This is a very Westernized menu, and there is lots of deep-fried dishes. If you like that kind of thing, try it out. But if you want a more authentic meal, there are other choices.

We have been a customer of their's for about 5 years and we have never been disappointed. A few times they have been busy with delivery and made a mistake but they have rushed to fix it. Eating in or delivery/pick up, for two overworked artists they are healthy and ideal. Few notes: % off on pick- up. Can ask no MSG and they will. Sometimes no MSG takes a little longer. Garlic greenbeans not always on menu but can be asked for. Very tasty.

Food is consisently good and staff are always friendly.

I recomend take out or even delivery at B Palace it's much faster and more convenient.Always clean and fresh food though.

Good food and convenient for me to order. I can place my lunch order and pay for it online when I get to my office in the morning. Now all I have to is go pick it up at the time I specified. Its always been ready to go for me so far. I can't say too much about the menu, as I usually always get the Orange Beef, but i haven't been disappointed yet.

Poor, slow service. Yesterday evening, I had dinner with my family and in-laws at Burnaby Palace Restaurant. We ordered 5 dishes and 20 minutes in I had a waitress check our food…. No response. At 45 minutes, I checked with the waitress again and she told me they were making food table by table. Then at the one hour mark, we got our food… but wait… only 3 of the 5 dishes came. When we asked about the other 2 dishes, a waiter checked on only 3 dishes were entered into the computer! He said that he give us a discount and give the 2 remaining dishes for free if we waited for them. Only one more dish came and we just decided to get the bill and leave. They ended up charging for the last dish that came.too. If my in-laws weren’t with me, I would have either 1) left at the 30min mark or 2) paid for whatever I thought was sufficient for the bill and caused a scene. The food is mediocre and is not worth the wait. During this time, I noticed that the takeout queue was moving faster. Beware of the horrible service if you are considering on going to this restaurant to dine.

You can tell a lot about a Chinese restaurant from it's fried rice. This Chicken Fried Rice ($8) brought me back to China. More than just soy sauce and rice, the wok had cooked all the flavour of the green onion and chicken into the rice with just the right amount of seasoning. While rice itself is heavy, the flavours of this dish made it light - anyone can eat it and enjoy it's almost Western-cuisine simpleness. No crazy sauces here. The second dish was Ginger Beef ($11) . I don't recall ever eating this in China, but this was the best dish there and I'm incredibly happy to have stumbled upon it. The beef had a cri

I’d like to start off with the fact that you cannot judge a place by it’s cover. Yes, it’s in the middle of Boundary and unfortunately situated next to a Pet Hospital. But pay no mind to these thoughts – when you walk through the door, this long restaurant is one of the cleanest looking Chinese restaurants I’ve ever stepped foot in. The prices are decent and typical of Chinese restaurants in East Van/Burnaby. This evening Brian and I decided to share Honey Garlic Spareribs ($12) and Sliced Beef Chow Mein ($8.75). The portions were fine for the two of us and we managed to polish off our dishes and were pretty full. For the most part, the honey garlic spareribs were devoid of bones – which is perfect for me because I’m very clumsy with chopsticks and not fond of having to deal with bones in my Chinese meals (yes, I’m picky). The sauce wasn’t poured on too heavy so you could still taste the meat. The Beef Chow Mein was similar to one of my favourite dishes – flat noodles with beef and bea

I rarely go for dim sum outside of Richmond, so I'm glad I got the chance to visit Burnaby Palace. It's right on the corner of Boundary and Dominian across from the gas station. We went for lunch on Sunday and the place was quite packed. There weren't a lot of dim sum options on the menu and most of the dishes were Shanghainese except for the typical har gow and siu mai. We figured it'd be safer to stick with Shanghainese since it seemed to dominate the menu. We ordered a small pot of hot and sour soup (酸辣湯) ($7.50) touted as "the best in town". It was definitely a nice soup - very savoury with the perfect consistency. It was thick without being too starchy and the ingredients were well seasoned. The steamed sliced roll (蒸銀絲卷) ($3.75) was good, but the threads inside should have been a bit more obvious. The texture was soft and fluffy though, so I really enjoyed it. The steamed pork juicy buns or xiao long bao (小籠包) ($7.50) was proba

After looking at the menu, I could tell that the food has been adjusted to satisfy the local community.

A bunch of us headed over to the Burnaby Palace for lunch one day. Burnaby Palace offers what Gene refers to as "Canadian Chinese Food". :) For those of you unfamiliar with the term, I guess it refers to Chinese food such as sweet and sour pork, egg foo y
