Great food, beautiful atmosphere and super music. I just went for dinner with my whole family. We all loved it. It is very cozy, food is amazing, service is great. Definitely will keep coming back.
My husband and I tried Tenen for the first time via skip the dishes a couple of nights ago and had a fabulous meal. We ordered the Traditional Meze For Two, a Shopska salad, and the Tenen Meat Platter for one.
There was a variety of quality meats, cheeses and breads. Every bite was absolutely delicious. The portions were large and the price was great. We loved everything about it.
Tenen is our new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to visit in person.
The food was excellent I had salmon and the other dishes consist of lamb, cabbage rolls and schnitzel for 4 people. Service was wonderful. Very small restaurant but very cozy and lots to look at on the walls very unique.
I definitely will return soon. One should at least try it, it is the best I have ever had. I can't say enough about every aspect of the restaurant. I am not a relative or friend just a happy customer.

We were looking for a little something different to eat and I stumbled upon Tenen in my search. It’s an Eastern Europe restaurant, which specializes in Balkan cuisine. I think it’s mainly Serbian dishes but there seems to be some Russian influence too. Like how you can even see the menu too.
Tucked away in a tiny little retail building on Royal Oak near Rumble Street in Burnaby, a modest Eastern European restaurant has taken over the location formerly occupied by Long J L Chinese Cuisine. It’s quite easy to miss this place as it’s somewhat hidden by the Chevron gas station next door.
Came for a large family dinner. Very nice people Food was great. Will not disappoint.
Want to come back in the summer for the outside garden seating area.

My wife and I came to Tenen for lunch a few weeks ago to use our Groupon. Wow we were totally surprised at how good the food is here. We ordered the BBQ meat platter and it was huge. Virtually everything was yummy, from the well seasoned chicken thighs to the thick cut bacon. Only one type of long thin pork sausage was not that good. Loved the 2 types of butter offered and those crispy potato wedges. Wife loved their coleslaw. We also ordered a soup with cornbread to take home. Delicious and worth coming even without any discount. Our new favourite local restaurant and I'm here with my daughter for a late lunch. Fabulous food again and the service is excellent. Nice old world ambience with interesting photos, musical instruments and artifacts from the Balkans on the walls. Time to eat now.

We went to this restaurant about 3 weeks ago as I found a groupon. There was only 1 server so service could have been faster but no complains on the attitude and the speed of the server. She gave her 100%. We ordered the meat platter for 2 and that was a lot of food. The meat platter was extremely fresh and hot, well made bbq, well better than memphis blue. Surprisingly the meats were mostly not burnt like many other bbq places would. Oh, the buns that came with the platter were so fresh, moist and soft inside.
The meat platter came with spicy butter and normal butter. 2 kinds of sausages, 2 pieces of thick bacon? 2 chicken thighs, 2 pork chop like meat, 2 chicken skewers, coleslaw and crispy potato wedges at the bottom that absorbed the delicious meat juice.
The thin long sausages were too salty for our taste, we packed them home and I made fried rice out of them, haha.
The fat shorter sausages were great and not too salty, we also packed them home and made fried rice as that was too much food.
The thick bacon were too salty as well and they went to our fried rice.
The chicken thighs were well seasoned and bbq, finished them on the spot.
Pork chop like meat were not too salty and I loved them but my wife said they lacked taste. I ate her piece.
The chicken skewers were just as great as the chicken thighs, finished them on the spot.
Coleslaw, not a big fan, but ok.
Finally the crispy potato wedges were so delicious, well seasoned but not salty and absorbed the meat juice but were still crispy. The wedges were god sent.
Honestly, now that we have try it, we would have gone there again without the discount. The groupon is still alive and I just bought another one to go as better save money now and be happy.
Next time we probably would try something else as we saw other people's ordering and they were huge and looked delicious.
Food was excellent. There were a few vegetarian and pescatarian options, in fact, more than I expected. I think most visitors to Balkan cuisine look for meaty items anyway. Service was friendly, patient and helpful. Very nice drinks menu.

I've visited here twice and both visits have been excellent. The focus of their menu is meat. And they do a really good job of meat!
Yesterday we tried the chicken roulade. A chicken breast wrapped in bacon. Rich and full of smoky bacon flavour.
Their burger is a massive 10 ounce patty of hamburger with large pieces of bacon and cheese cooked right into it.
I recommend it and will be returning to try more of their menu.
Big portion, good value, good food. My friends loved everything we ordered, but the meat platter was a bit salty to me. There was only one waitress on the day we went. The waitress was very busy. We waited quite a while to put our order, and she forgot to refill our water and bring us sharing plates.
Maria did an amazing job 🥰🥰🥰🥰to make sure we not only have a great service but also a super fun experience in this restaurant. The music was also great. The food was rich and delicious. If you prefer less salty you should make sure to communicate it since they are easy with salt but not salty food 😅👍 we definitely will back and I do recommend them.

The ambiance was the same as a European local restaurant, cozy and warm.
Inside is very different from its outer appearance.
Food has generous portions, owner is nice and accomodating. Roast lamb was a bit chewy and not the best i've had, it came in a cream soup. The chevapi - meatball sausage dish was quite good and well balanced. It came with bread, coleslaw, fries and creamcheese.

I enjoy trying new places and the Entertainment coupon was a great reason to try here with some out of town friends. One of them has eaten Eastern European food before so knew what he wanted right away. Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of it but they were big meatballs with a hint of bacon. I ordered the Meat Platter for 2 and Karadjordjeva Schnitzel to split between 2 of us. We could have easily fed 4 big eaters with the two platters!
The more densely packed sausage had more pepper than I like but everything else was good. The cheese explosion Schnitzel stole the dinner for me.
Wow. This place was an experience. It’s obvious that this place is around because of the passion of sharing Serbian food and not just the money. It took quite some time to receive our food but it was understandable after eating the food - it tasted like it was made with so much respect and prudence! The goulash was incredible, rich sauce enveloping the melt in your mouth tender pieces of pork. The rice paired with the goulash was a bit undercooked however. The karadjordjeva schnitzel was unbelievable. This is a must try at least once in your life. After cutting into it, cheese flowed out like lava! Everyone at the table was staring at this dish in amazement.
The place feels so homey and warm, and is decorated with unique trinkets and pieces which all seem to have a story. Even the washrooms were decorated so well! They have a cute patio in the back which feels like you’re in your friends backyard.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The food is beyond delicious and the price is so fair. The authentic look of the restaurant is so nostalgic and the music adds on to that.
