Review White Spot Gilmore - Burnaby

I usually get takeout here but I have dined in before. All the servers are super nice and service is pretty consistent and good. There’s a kind server who has been helping me with my takeout orders in the early mornings before work. I think her name is Sandra. I usually grab a Sunny Start sandwich and get my smash browns extra crispy.

The place has a big potential to be much better. The food was ok, but drinks & desserts, no! The apple pie wasn’t fresh at all, tasted like a frozen pie got warmed in a microwave! Drinks left back because it didn’t taste good. Staff were friendly and responsive though.

We were seated right away and had immediate attention from our server. He was pleasant, polite and had a friendly demeanor. He helped us with ordering, helpful suggestions regarding lettuce wrapped lamb burger, plus zoo sticks and sweet potato fries. It was cooked very good and was delicious. This is the renovated older restaurant at Gilmore and Lougheed. I'd been here before and will return again. I recommend to all. One issue, not reasonably priced. A problem with eating out these days. 2 burgers, 1 zoo sticks, 1 side sweet potato fries and 1 coke - $51.= odd.

My family and I have been going here for ages. Good comfort food and relatively spaced out (more booth seating) and some plexiglass still up, which I appreciate. Most servers had masks on which we found awesome as well. Their happy hour has a nice selection for good value. We also enjoy this location for their car hop service. It’s not the most young and lively joints (but we prefer it that way).

Food was ok, servers friendly but my god was it disgusting and unclean. First red flag the parking lot was covered in used fry oil, when we drove in, saw the dont slip signs and a little kitty litter but when got out was greeted to stale gross smell of used oil and it covered out tires and soles of our shoes. Inside the floors were filthy. The server even dropped a half eaten burger beside our table on the carpet and just left it there to be stepped on and ground into the carpet. Other side of the table on the floor was so gross. It was barely busy, come on and make a little effort. We won’t be back.

Great service indoors, take out, or stay in your car to order and eat! They have an adjustable tray that goes through the windows on each side. Lots of free parking.

My old co-workers and I have been going here as a get together spot. The staff is always super friendly and never rush us even though there's usually 5+ of us. The food is always delicious and out pretty fast especially considering the size of our party and they're drink specials are wonderful! We love going there for happy hour. We'll definitely be making this our regular spot.

Excellent seevice very helpful staff . Very family friendly atmosphere. Even though it was extremely busy on my arrival i was seated and served my drinks quickly. Starter soup was very good . I only ordered a Burger and fries but they were fantastic. I also highly recommend the Chipotle dipping sauce 😋 . Definitely would go back .my server was friendly and efficient.

This White Spot has been around for a long time! This area has turned into condo central, and I'm really hoping White Spot won't be torn down :(. It's quite packed during the weekend brunch period so be prepared to wait. There is a giant parking lot and also a drive-in take out service.

We had nobashi prawns. They were a little over done compared to other times I have had them, but always like them. However, I ordered the Curry Quinoa salad. It was a REAL disappointment. I couldn't even eat it. I am an adventurous person. In fact my family complains that I am too creative -- but this White Spot salad was taken too far. Curry, simply doesn't go with goat cheese and tomatoes - especially not with almonds and grapes... fusion becoming confusion.

I never had a problem eating at this place. Servers are always friendly. If you are having lunch, get there before noon to avoid the long wait. Food is great!

This would be my first time enjoying the well known promotion. Once a year adults gather to relive a bit of their childhood with “White Spot’s” “Pirate Pak” meals. This “Pak” is their equivalent of a happy meal, usually only reserved for kids under 10. It comes with a main, side, drink, and dessert all wrapped up in a colourful package. In this case a card board pirate ship with bow and stern, portholes, and even a sail, held up by your drink straw mast. You get a choice of burger and drink, with fries, ice cream, and a gold foiled chocolate coin.

After finishing my belated birthday breakfast and trying to pay the bill was a hassle. i had my dirty dishes at my table with cash in hand it took 25 minutes for the waitress to saunter by to collect the cash.
Now steak and pork chop is new on the menu i foolishly tried both and it was like chewing on a piece of shoe leather, what a waste of a meal honestly folks save your money and stick with the burgers/fries

Sept 24, 2016 - New

Decided to go back to see if anything has changed since the last time. I ordered the Poutine and the fries that came with it was luke warm, even the gravy was a hotter higher temperature. I don't think Nat's Original Beef Dip was meant to be served cold in the middle and luke warm near the edges. I told Anita to send it back, she said she was too hungry and decided to just eat it anyways.

After finishing my plate I ordered more fries because you know, unlimited. When the fries came it was the same problem, luke warm fries. I ordered a second round of fries. This time, the waitress gave me a look as I stopped her for more fries as she didn't bother coming to check up on us and was just passing by more than once. I don't know why she seemed to avoid us as she never came back for a long time. At this point, we were just looking around to kill time while waiting for the waitress and realized the ledge that was beside us was so dusty it was unbelievable. The strange thing was on the other side of the ledge was wiped. The second round of fries were mixed in, half were piping hot while the other half were luke warm. It's safe to say that White Spot rather have speed of serve and to sacrifice quality. I don't think I'll come back to this White Spot because they can't even reheat food properly.

Jan 2016 - Original

Wow, another post long overdue. I still remember this vivid event as it was yesterday as I posted on Instagram and have a picture. I ordered the Pirate Pack. This comes with a burger, drink, fries, coleslaw and an ice cream. I showed up ~10 minutes before closing as I was downtown having dessert. While driving home, I remembered it was Pirate Pack Day. I already Had dinner 3 hours ago but figured why not, I'll send the kids to camp.

Upon showing up, I had asked if they were still selling the Pirate Pack or they were closed and that was that. I was told I could still order as there is still people eating and ordering refill fries at tables. I advised them that I didn't want the Ice cream because I just had dessert. If I could get few more pieces of fries that would be great, if not, not a big deal. I won't be needing the ice cream. They said sure. Paid for the meal and off I went. When I got home I found out there wasn't even a coleslaw. No big deal I thought to myself, no biggie. I then had some fries, they weren't even warm, I would say room temperature. Google Maps says I live 5 minutes away from this location. Hot/warm fries in a paper bag in a warm car cooping with a hot burger and 5 minutes later the fries aren't even warm? I was probably given old fries.

Just because I was the last person to order probably doesn't mean I can have old soggy, not even warm fries. I mean, I didn't even need the Pirate Pack, just figured I'll send some kids to camp and have a decent meal on the side. There needs to be more focus, no slaw and cold fries.

This was the chosen destination for our family’s causal get together. My grandmother is visiting from Brunei with traditional tastes, and my partner is known for his very particular tastes. My mother came up with “White Spot” as the compromise. She dislikes how dark other casual chains are, so appreciated their well lit rooms. And she figured that there were enough options on the menu to satisfy everyone between burgers and entrees.

White Spot's owners have ruined Nat Bailey's original burger recipe. The bun is now just a standard commercial bun, the lettuce is no longer the finely shredded head lettuce. The burger is now just a common type burger no much different than many other fast food burgers.

Bad experience. I usually enjoy White Spot back home but when my husband asked if he could try the marinara sauce before ordering the spaghetti and meatballs, they say no. Their reason? "Because the noodles are already mixed in with the sauce."
What??? Gross. That's all.

There really isn't a lot to say about white spot. Generic food in a regular restaurant. The service was why I gave such a good review. They were kind and on top of everything I needed.

Terrible experience. Usually white spot has good food but when I had a burger from this place is was disgusting/undercooked. I wouldn't eat here again.

NEVER AGAIN, Due to Management and there utter lack of care!! U dissappoint. I have never been so insulted or horrified by such a rude, defensive, quick to anger person in a management position in my life, and a small problem has now become so big, I will NEVER EVER eat at North Road location again!!!!! Gilles or Jill got my complaint, and instead of diffusing a small problem, he actually made it so much worse. The lack of care, the lack of listening or compassion for my plight was horrifying. PLEASWE TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE IF IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Absolutely awful! We went for a late evening snack , waited forever at the door. Finally we were seated by a kid who looked about 14. Took the waitress another 10 minutes at least ,to even acknowledge us. No apology , or even friendliness. Finally got my 3/4 full cup of coffee & dessert , no coffee refill offered to any of our group of 4! No one ever checked back on us at all.Absolutely appalling service- worst service I have ever had in 40 years of going to white spot. My husband and I will never return to this location. Recommend that anyone wanting white spot drive the extra 10 minutes to the north road WS location, and boycott this one. Horrible!!!

Terrible service, great poutine. We not quite sure what happened, but it was a service trainwreck from start to finish (Nov 17th around 9pm, in case anyone wants to follow-up).

On the plus side, the baked potato poutine was ridiculously good....I'll probably crave that again sometime in the near-ish future. But I'll go to a different White Spot, for sure.

Our order was taken down wrong, we were largely ignored by multiple staff, multiple attempts to fix things were weak, our "fixed" food sat on the pass for about 10 minutes before we could find our server to bring it to us. Very disappointing.

Half decent beef dip, nice soft fresh panini. Tasty dip but the beef was boarder line deli cut, still it passed, tasty beer non flat lol, what do ya want from me its a white spot!

Too Salty. Not a very good dining experience. Ordered a plate of Fettuccini from their dinner menu. The sauce was so thick that I got a stomach upset before going to bed. Got very thirsty for the whole night, too. Will not go back.

"Triple-O"utstanding. Every time I'm at this location I've had great service, and they've been fast and on the ball. I think the users below did go on an off day. Order anything from here and you should be satisfied.

This is one of the older White Spots, and probably one of the slowest. When we go here, we are always waiting even if we see open tables. Some of the new White Spots have gone a little more upscale, both in food quality and decor, but this is not one of them.

Clueless. Maybe it was an off day but our server didn't have a clue! We asked a simple question like, "Is the drive-in menu different from sit-in" and he just stared blankly. The other staff weren't much better. There was no one to greet us or seat us when we first arrived. Just a clipboard to write our own names in to wait for a spot. When we finally got our food it was decent.

Triple O. I've always loved White Spot burgers. This is a treat I give myself at least once every couple of months.

Pleasing service and good cheap eats. We enjoyed my breakfast very much everything was cooked to perfection my eggs were exactly the way i wanted them and not many restraunts can do that bacon was just perfect toast and homefries were nice and hot and i love how they offer fruit salad instead of homefries if your a healthy eater. My client seemed to enjoy it. Overall my expirience at the this cafe was amazing and i will definatley be back. Thanks goes to the blond waitress who despite her young age worked to please. terrific smile.

First time going to White Spot for me, so I had thought the quotations around the words "unlimited fries" was just a metaphor to express the large portions of fries they serve...

I couldn’t resist ordering a side of zoo sticks with extra zoo sauce. Who knew fried zucchini sticks can be so darn good. Everything was great. Its a nice family place for sure.

For one day a year, White Spot creates Pirate Paks for adults. The adult Pirate Paks come with a choice of the Legendary Burger, the BC Burger, BC Chicken Burger or Portobello Provolone Veggie Burger along with the unlimited fries, drink, ice cream…and the trademark chocolate coin!

One of the great things about White Spot is that they open for breakfast pretty early so it's easy to drop in for some grub when you need to run early morning errands. The Lougheed Hwy location is a bit reminiscent of the old truck stop diners that you'd see in 80′s sitcoms but with a bit of updated decor and menu items.

I do love that Triple-O sauce from Whitespot!

Who would've guessed! My brother decided to go with the Fish & Chips. Yes, this is his usual order, even though he will ponder about another choice, but will always change his mind back to the fish & chips lol! I actually like the fish 'n chips here too. This was not too oily and had a nice crunch to it.

I have a complicated history with the White Spot . As a child we lived in Delta and I LOVED the Pirate Pack. Who didn't love the Pirate Pack? As a young adult, I worked at a theatre (now a parking lot) by the White Spot on Georgia. We ate there quite ofte

One of the comforting things about chain restaurants is their predictability. And White Spot is a perfect example of that. But they do try to keep things fresh by adding seasonal items, such as different types of burgers and various pastas. This time, they were featuring Fish and Chips. We wanted to try a few more things, and realized that we were actually in time for their Happy Hour menu. Yes, White Spot has happy hour! From 3-6 daily, select appetizers are only $6.

Earlier this month, my mom and my stepdad met me for lunch at my neighbourhood White Spot. It's one of my mom's favourite places and since she was heading to HK for a few months, she would be going through serious withdrawal for a while. She tried out one of their new flatbreads, the Rustica. It's a flatbread with spinach, portobello mushrooms and grilled peppers, zucchini and onions, topped with an Arrabbiata sauce and Bleubrie cheese. Her only complaint was the Bleubrie that came with the dish - she find

A few weeks ago, we ventured to the White Spot in North Vancouver to spend a gift certificate. Since it was lunch time and we were in a hurry, we opted for the drive-in. Having just moved back to Vancouver, White Spot scores really high marks in the nosta

We ordered the chipotle chicken wrap with Cesar salad. The good news is that White Spot no longer charges extra if you want to substitute the fries with another side...I usually ask for extra chipotle sauce on the side whenever eating this wrap at other White Spot locations. This was a very difficult request at this location. The server suggested I had to pay extra if I want Chipotle on the side. I was not very happy to hear that. She asked if I want the Triple O sauce instead as there was no charge. We reminded the waitress that my wrap already comes with chipotle sauce so it was reasonable to ask for extra. She gave it some thought, hesitated and then agreed to reluctantly bring me a “little bit” as if she was doing us a big favour. The bacon inside was way to crispy. So far so not good.

White Spot is a very nice place to eat, the restaurant is very large and the staff seem like nice people. The interior gives you a cozy at-home kind of feeling, and it is suitable for those who like casual (burgers, and pub-like) food or fancier. So onto

Kevin and Steph got the Hearty Breakfast. I’m about 80% sure about this, so if I’m wrong, sorry! 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausages, 2 french toast slices, and hashbrown. $9.99 I think. I couldn’t have my burger, so I made up for it by getting something t

Ok , first off the name. White Spot claims their name refers to everything being clean or "white". But come on, a name like White Spot in 1928 would definitely have different connotations associated with it. Anyways, I am not going to go into this to much
