Review Chad Thai - Burnaby

Minh Le
Fantastic Thai restaurant with super authentic cuisine. All of the chefs are Thai and they have a huge selection of dishes to choose from. There are several dishes that I've not seen in any other Thai restaurant in the Lower Mainland. My favourite dish is the fried pork slices with green vegetables. Also, I love the fact that they have several desserts to choose from ! Portions are very generous for the price that you pay. This place can get quite busy so it's recommended to make reservations.

This is as authentic as it can get. The food is absolutely delicious. As a vegetarian I am impressed with the many vegetarian options. Everything is very tasty, the service is very good. I highly recommend this place for Thai food. It may not seem much in the inside, but the food is absolutely worth it.

A small family run Thai restaurant. We ordered quite a bit for three of us. Overall it was good. The staff were welcoming and we made it under the wire before the kitchen closed for the afternoon. My favorite dish was the Pad Khing and the green papaya salad.

Had a great dinner. Service was good with lots of water refills and attentive. Food was tasty and filling. Ordered way too much for two people but enjoyed having the left overs the next day.
Nena
Really enjoyed the flavours and food was delicious. Definitely somewhere i would order at again but with take out. Dine in took us 45 minutes to get our food, they seamed extremely busy and a bit unorganized. But the food was great, I'll definitely eat here again!

My go to place in North Burnaby for Thai food. Love their Tom Yum Gai, Pad Thai, Chicken Satay Skewers, Curry dishes.

We usually come here before the pandemic. I still love the food and how they make it. There is now vegetarian options on most of the meals. There is a dinner and lunch option. Lunch if you want appetizers and sides and Dinner if you want the full mean to be a bit bigger but no soup and wonton (meat) or spring roll (veggie). Hope to come back again!

Their lunch menu is the best bang for buck. The food is incredibly delicious - as if I was in Thailand again! Veg spring roll Pad kie mao noodles Panang curry Pad Thai noodles Spicy, delicious and fresh. 100% coming back

Lil’ bun was craving Thai food over the winter holidays so we went out to eat at Chad Thai since it was right around the corner. The two of us are so predictable when it comes to what we get at Thai restaurants because I always get the Tom Yum noodle soup and she always gets a Pad Thai. I mean I guess I’ve tried other Thai noodles soups from Chad Thai in the past but I always end up coming back to this one.

Lunch specials are affordable and tasty! Portion size was generous. Quick service from servers and cooks.

Craving Thai food so we stopped by for some curry and noodles. The green curry was spicy and had lots of flavour. The pad thai we ordered with tofu. Good flavour as well, the portion sizes are on the smaller size but the food is very good. We also ordered a thai coffee. Service is good and prices are fair.

In addition, there was also a nice garlic flavour to the broth too. Meanwhile, the chicken was nice and juicy. Since discovering Thai noodle soup, there’s no going back! Not all Thai restaurants serve the noodle soup but I would love to try other renditions if I saw it on the menu. Green curry: The boyfriend went with the green curry with beef, which was an excellent choice! It was delicious and fragrant.

There was also a good portion of tender beef and eggplants. Coupled with the coconut rice, the two were a perfect match for each other! He didn’t have enough room to finish so he packed some of it up.

Hands down, the best pad thai I have ever had. Love their take out, because they serve their bean sprouts separately, therefore not making them soggy & leaving them crunchy. And in the restaurant, the staff is friendly & very attentive! Would 100% recommend to everyone!

We were turned down by Chez meme next door because they decided to close 45mins earlier than their post time. Hangry and wet we looked around for another place to eat when we stumbled upon Chad Thai. Called them at 245pm, asking if we could still dine in because they closed at 3pm. Lady on the phone was super nice and cheerfully invited us in on this raining day. Service was attentive and food was super fast to come out. We never felt rushed to eat and was told to stay as long as we want. Food was excellent! Ordered from their lunch menu, and got their tiger prawn pad Thai and khao gra pao kai Dao (stir fried chicken on rice with fried egg). Dishes were very tasty and good valued. I thought their pad thai was better than Sawasdee (it was less sour). Would definitely come back to try their curry!

We went out to North Burnaby for a lunch on Saturday and ended up at Chad Thai. This is a small cosy Thai restaurant along Hastings in North Burnaby. They have lunch specials for around $9-11. The lunch specials all come with a veggie fried spring roll and a bowl of soup. The spring rolls were fresh out of the fryer and comes with a hot/sweet dip. The soup is a clear based Thai styled soup. It was a little bit on the sweet side.

Authentic Thai bistro situated in North Burnaby. This place brings our memory back to when we’re in Thailand. The food generally reminds us of Thailand!

We ordered several dishes and were pleased with them. Som Tam was definitely to die for. The basil chicken is always our all time favourite.

Although, the service is attentive, there is definitely some room for improvement.

My favorite Thai restaurant. Delicious, I believe authentic, and reasonably priced. I recommend this place to everyone. Be forwarned this is one of those places where if you ask for medium spice, they don't mess around, it's going to be pretty spicy and make most people sweat.
Caleffi
The food was fantastic, it was great value for money and the food came very quickly. The Pad Thai was great and the Drunken Seafood was delicious and spicy (extra spicy ordered).

Recommended for a solid good thai food in Burnaby.

A must-try! We tried Chad Thai for the first time a few weeks ago, and have been back 3 times since! The meals are excellent value, and taste great! We've had a few dishes we didn't love, but 3/4 we love and they will be the reason we have added this to our favourite restaurants list.

Our favourite must-order dishes are:

- #12 Gai Yang Chicken - Deliciously juicy chicken (a bit spicy if you have it with the sauce, but you can choose how much to dip)

- #41 Red Curry

#90 Pad-Thai Goong

I knocked off .5 because their bathroom needs a bit of work.

When I arrived around 6pm on a Tuesday evening, I was promptly attended to and seated. I was given a glass of water and the menu immediately. I quickly ordered the Pad Thai Gai and my dish arrived 10 minutes later.

The Pad Thai arrived steaming hot and had a nice tamarind sweet and tangy flavour and the amount of spice was just right. The server asked if I would like spicy and I said yes when she took my order. There was a good amount of tofu and chicken breast in the dish. The noodles were chewy and had a good bite without being greasy. A solid pad thai dish, which held a candle to my number 1 favourite pad thai at Bob Likes Thai food in Vancouver. Personally, I like Bob Likes Thai's rendition a little bit better because they use smoked tofu. Chad Thai's version has fried tofu which is tasty but doesn't offer the smoked flavour that the smoked tofu imparts.

Chad Thai's menu offered a wonderful variety of soup and noodle dishes that I had not seen offered at other Thai restaurants. The restaurant was quite busy for 6pm on a Tuesday evening. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

Zomato says they deliver. I called to place an order and they said they don't deliver, you have to go through a 3rd party delivery service. Should update their Zomato page

I ordered the tom yun soup with tiger prawns and it was served very quickly. The soup was disappointing me and it didn't meet the expectation of such a high rate. It seems like using the powder or instant product to make that soup. The soup didn't taste fresh. The portion was small. I was a bit disappointed for the first experience here.

Mother’s Day, I wanted to take my mother out for lunch. I was thinking something fancy, she wanted Thai and chose the destination. I obliged, after all it was her day and we only needed to wait six minutes for them to open. The restaurant was a thin corridor of space, it only allowed narrow tables and a couple of chairs. The seating made sense with their demographic. This was more of a quick lunch spot rather than a destination for large groups to linger at. Perfect for walk-ins and solo diners to curb their authentic Thai cravings, at value prices. We were the first ones in, choosing one of their three tile table tops right by the window. It was a pretty backdrop to the decorative appetizer plates to come. The rest of the restaurant was less ornate. A few canvases showing Thailand through its colourful fruits, boats on water, and famous places.

Typical thai done pretty well.

Chad Thai is your typical thai restaurant. It serves your standard fare at reasonable prices with well sized portions. A great place to come if you plan to eat family style.

I went with a few friends and we all left feeling full and had leftovers.

We shared a red curry, pad thai noodles, stirfry pork, and Tom yum soup. Sides of rice and sticky rice rounded out the meal. They asked how spicy we wanted each dish. I have never been asked that for pad thai before - to be safe I decide on medium.

The soup had a lovely aroma and was a nice start to the meal. It came out fast and kept us all busy until the mains arrived.

The red curry is rich and flavourful. The only downside is the dry chicken. Though the dish does bring me back to Thailand. So I shall forgive the minor error in cooking time.

The pork is fried well and the meat still tender. I've never had this before and will likely not order it again. It was okay but nothing to continue writing about

The pad thai was the star of the night. The noodles were tender but still had a bite. The tamarind flavour came through but wasn't too sweet. I even enjoyed the crunch of the barely fried beanspouts. I probably should have ordered it hot. The medium spice was barely spicy.

Another restaurant that I liked (just not a lot) = 3.0 stars.
I don’t eat Thai food often, and I am by no means an expert in Thai food, but Chad Thai on Hastings has consistently delivered delicious food time and again. What I ate: Tom Yum Noodle with Chicken. This dish consists of thin rice noodles in spicy and sour creamy soup with white mushrooms, coriander, lemongrass, red onions, kaffir limes leaves and galangal. It is my go to dish here, and I love it! I always have the spicy version and it really packs a punch!

Excellent Thai Food in the North Burnaby Neighborhood. I've tried the Chicken Pad Thai and the flavour was excellent. The ingredients were fresh like the bean sprouts. The only complaint I have is that the medium spicy level is still mild. Also an item to try is definitely the coconut ice cream with palm seed toppings! It's like the young coconut turned into a sorbet.

Good Thai place! Quick-ish service, great dining area and nice staff! The staff are nice to kids and have some candy they give to them. I have been there 2 times and I have not been failed!

I got the fried rice which you could customize and choose what you want in it. You could have pork, chicken or beef in your rice! Don't like what it lists in the description? Ask for it on the side or none of it. It was very good and I would definitely go again.

Great little neighbourhood Thai restaurant.
It's a small restaurant but the seating is sufficient. The food is authentic and the flavour is very Thai .
We ordered Pad Thai (they used tamarind), green curry ( so yum 😛) , Tom yum Kung (super good) and a stir fry dish.
Everything was good and the portion is decent.
Service was nothing exceptional but they were polite in general. Try it out, you'll love it 🤗

2nd time here, I feel quality has gone down a little bit and there is a lack of focus. When walking in, we waited at the door for a moment even though there was a person at the counter. After we proceeded to the counter, there was a lady that just looked at us and walked away, not even saying hi or even acknowledging us. We proceeded to just seat ourselves. After ordering, our order was missing a chicken wing. Mentioning it to them they fixed the order up. Food was good, service was alright. The chicken wings were bland and pretty much tasteless. They tasted as if someone had dropped raw chicken wings in to a deep dryer and took them out and served them on a plate. Overall I would return if I needed a quick Thai fix and didn't feel like leaving the neighborhood.

They sell traditional Thai snacks - khaotan $3

Very delicious, homestyle thai food. All the veggies were very fresh, none that were mushy or frozen. The spiciness for their hot level is a bit high for the scale so be careful about that. Very vegetarian friendly. Best to yum soup I've ever had.

I've been going this restaurant quite some times because of their quality food,
But when I go for today's dinner, notice that their food is not the same food that I had before.
Not sure if they change their chef but the taste was pretty bad.
Hope they find their old taste back soon.

Sawadeecup~~~Chai Thai is a little Thai restaurant on East Hastings street in North Burnaby. Food were absolutely amazing! Lots of flavors, very fresh herbs and spices making the dishes so good! You could taste all the spices, basil and tamarind. And they do not use MSG. Very complex to describe but this is so Thai. It tastes exactly as I had in Thailand. The green curry was so good here! We wanted to try some new dishes tonight so we did not order it this time; kinda regretting. LOL.

Chad Thai is a little restaurant on Hasting Street in Burnaby. Although there is no parking at the restaurant, it is easy to find parking on the streets in the neighbourhood.

The owner and waiters were very friendly when my parents and I went there for lunch. Who served my table was probably the owner? She was super friendly and told us what were the most popular dishes advising which dishes we should be trying. During the meal, she dropped by my table asking if everything was good at least a few times. She gave us a tray of four different types of spicy sauces and seasonings.

My parents and I ordered three lunch combos. Each combo came with a small bowl of daikon soup and three small friend dumplings. The soup and fried dumplings were okay but not the best. We ordered 1) Pad Thai Goong with prawn, 2) Pad Siew and 3) Khao Moo Kratiem Kai Dao. The portion of each of these three dishes were kind of small but all of them tasted delicious. Only the stir fried pork of the third dish was greasy with a lot of oil on the plate.

After we left the restaurant, we started to feel thirsty. Probably the Thai food got a lot of seasonings, soy sauce and MSG. We had to drink a lot of water after lunch.

I would recommend others to try this restaurant if they are around the neighbourhood. But be expected that it is really thirsty after the meal.

Friendly staff but food was underwhelming. I had the Pad Khing lunch special. Spring roll and soup were delicious but I found the pad khing underwhelming. I felt the ginger pieces were too big and overwhelmed the dish. I also found the mushrooms to be under cooked. It's a small restaurant but it had a nice atmosphere and staff was very friendly. I'd do back but might try something else. Since my main meal wasn't very good, I decided to give a thumbs down.

After having lunch at Cristos Greek Taverna and taking advantage of the deal at Chez Christophe Chocolaterie Patisserie, our next stop for Crave 2015 in Burnaby Heights was at Chad Thai Restaurant. While the name gives the initial impression of inauthentic cuisine, Chad Thai aims to provide the comforts of affordable Thai street food to a casual setting in Metro Vancouver.

We went to there for dinner and it was a pretty decent place. They had really nice service, and can tell that it was a family owned type of restaurant. When the food came, the server told us that there's not MSG in our food and details about the dish. We rarely have Thai food, and we were used to having more generic ones like pad thai, but we decided to try some new dishes...

Thai snacks. #5 Chicken Wings (crispy fried chicken wings marinated in spices and garlic) $7.99 4/5 - very juicy and well marinated! It wasn't as garlic as the green papapa salad.
#10 Chicken Satay 4pcs $7.99 3.5/5 - well marinated but dry chicken breasts. The skewers were quite thick.
#23 tom kha gai (with coconut milk) $8.99 2.5/5 - one of the most watery coconut soup I've ever had. Flavour was good but it needs to be a lot thicker.
#30 so tum (green papaya salad) $8.99 2/5 - super garlicy! I didn't expect it to be that. It says nothing about garlic in the menu.
L2 Khao Gaeng (Panang Curry Beef with Rice) $8.99 3.5/5 - not too thick nor spicy. It could go a little spicier too when I asked for mild. Less beef than expected. There were a lot of peppers.
-It comes with 4 pieces of wontons (mainly just deep-fried wonton skins) and a bowl of rice. The rice was pretty soft.

rice cracker $3 - They sell some snacks by the cashier. They were pretty good with a hint of sweetness.
Service - I called at 11:20am asking for take out. The man told me it will be ready at 11:45 because they are opened for lunch at 11:30. This was a little awkward and there were nobody when I got there.

Great little place. The food is exceptionally good here. I can tell the people working here really do try. I first tried their food during the hats off day event and have been returning ever since! Highly recommended thai restaurant in North Burnaby!

Favourite Thai restaurant. This is my boyfriend and I's go to Thai place. Their pad Thai and curry are consistently delicious with lots and lots of vegetables in the curry. They have the sweetest ladies working there who always keep our water glasses full. Chad Thai is definitely better than the other Thai restaurant just down the street.

Great Restaurant in the Neighbourhood. I've been here a handful of times and I enjoyed each of my dinner occasions here. Thoroughly enjoyed their Tom Yum Goong, which I always get when I'm here. Portion size is good for the average eater. The manager/owner was very nice and patient, taking her time to explain the dish and how it was made. This is the place I would come to for Thai food, recommended it to my friends too.

Best Thai Food in the Lower Mainland. I have tried numerous Thai restaurants in the city and Chad Thai is the best. Food is always fresh, hot and tasty. The staff are always friendly and you can tell they care. Their Pad Thai is authentic and so delicious! For those complaining that this restaurant isn't authentic.... I suggest you make a visit to Thailand. Pad Thai is not supposed to be cooked with ketchup like they do at other restaurants (Thai House etc...).
Jojoupp
Delicious!. We ordered several dishes and were very pleased with the quality and freshness of the dishes. The service was quite slow due to staffing issues but i will not allow that to keep me from frequenting this restaurant.

Great Food and great service. Great all around. The food was really good and the service was great as well. Enjoyed the coconut rice and the green curry the most. Will definitely go back!

Simple yet authentic - if it's thai your craving this is a great mom and pop shop!

One of the worst thai places I've been to in the city. Was here once about 6 months ago and it was pretty good. Decided to get it again and darn it was the worst pad thai I think I have had. It is comparable to the only ever bad thai I had once before at the metro town one(by save-on, thank Zeus it's gone). It tasted like old fish sauce and the tiger prawns were overcooked and rubbery. The spring rolls were not too bad but not worth going back. Was seriously disappointed
Foodiepanda
Service is bad. The food is really delicious here and price is affordable for the quality of the food.
However, service has downgraded by a lot. I've came here a couple of times, and each visit service is slow and unfriendly. It's only friendly when the manager/owner is serving us.
Mark
Fathers Day nightmare! Sometimes too much business isn't a good thing. Management should have cutoff takeout orders and focused on the patrons dining in the restaurant. After all it's diners like myself that write reviews like this. It took 10 minutes before we even received a menu. 20 minutes for a glass of water. Food took waaaaay too long to arrive and when it did start to arrive we received one dish and then 10 minutes later we received the next. Complete disorganization. And I absolutely hate it when staff use the excuse that they're really really busy. There was a group of diners that sat down and after 10 minutes of not being acknowledged by a server they got up and walked out. How embarrassing! I'm not sure what all the hype is about the food. I would call this 'sloppy thai food.' Thai by Thai on Scott Road in Delta is by far the best place for Thai food. I won't be back to Chad Thai in Burnaby.
Catmandu
Great!. Been coming to this "hole in the wall" authentic restaurant since i moved to Burnaby years ago. Apparently it's won Best Thai in Burnaby.
The owners changed a couple years ago but we still go frequently. Very tasty food, fresh, not greasy, lots of flavour, good portions, usually some leftovers.
And definitely good prices!
Everything you want in a restaurant.
BK
Love it!!. I was looking for a good thai place close to home in East Van and discovered this little gem. The food is amazing and the staff are lovely.
Food = typical Thai choices, great portions and very flavorful! I'm slowly working my way through the menu and everything has been so yummy thus far.
Staff = I think its a family operation? Anyway, the staff are very polite, sweet and welcoming.
I will be back ASAP :)

NICE LITTLE PLACE. I came on Tuesday night with a friend. It was our first time here. The place is about half full. SImple decor. We ordered TOM KHA KAI, PAD SEE EW, PAD THAI, PANANG CURRY w/ pork. Pad see ew and Pad thai were the best, I love that noodel in Pad thai, just right not too chewy and too soft. Tom kha soup was delicious with lime juice, coconut milk and lemon glass taste (I guess).
The lady manager was nice and pleasant. Service was efficient considering only 3 people worked the room. The price was quite affordable. Based onthe whole experience I will definitely return and recommend.

LOVE IT. Best Thai place you'll ever find in Burnaby! The Pad Thai was so good and authentic i almost cried. I've been missing this taste ever since I came back to Canada after a vacation in Thailand. Very friendly service. They make you feel right at home :). 10/10 totally would recommend.
Joe Heilman
Very disorganized. Gave us water only and didn't ask if we wanted anything else to drink. Pad Thai had a dirty after taste and other dishes didn't leave a person wanting more. Don't eat here.

My Best Thai Experience .......... My Thai friend took me and my roomate there for lunch. she kept raving about this place so we thought lets give it a try ,,,,,,,
I must say both me and my roomate were highly impressed . the best feature of this place is the the owner Jean Sirirat. she makes sure every customer gets the best service and value for $$$$
Things we ate that were delish were
Khao Gra Pao Kai Dao
Khao Soi Gai
Tom Yum Noodle

I give it a ***** and extra *** specially for Jean

Ended up at Chad Thai because Chez Meme was packed. Tried one of the noodle dishes for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Great taste and the spice level was perfect based on my request to make the dish "hot". Very nice owner and great service. Most lunch dishes are under $10. Plus, they don't use MSG!

Will be back. Worth a visit.

The pad thai was not good. The yellow currie was average.
Becks
Hmmm mixed reviews, the Thai green curry and lettuce wraps were good but the pad Thai did not taste very fresh and noodles were far too over cooked.
TBoo
Delicious, authentic, and in my neighborhood...couldn't ask for more!
Jenni
Sooooo good. The food here is legit and authentic. It tastes exactly as I had in Thailand. I usually get the green curry, coconut rice and I can't go without Thai ice tea. The owners are lovely kind people, I feel like I am eating a wonderful home cooked meal!
Monica
Terrible. Ordered number 83 and my sister ordered the pad Thai. Very dry, no sauce. Just gross

Authentic Thai Cuisine & Service!. Some of the best Thai curry we've ever had! The yellow curry was made customized for our needs - we requested no onions and the owner came out and offered us other vegetable options resulting in the ideal yellow curry.

We had a chance to chat with the servers about the restaurant history and learned that the family who owns the place is from Thailand. The server that we had was also Thai and came to Vancouver in January of this year. She was very friendly and everyone who worked at the restaurant seemed to love their job!

The pad thai was delicious and the tamarind sauce was perfection. We had the "well known Thai salad" called Som Tum which was spicy, with papaya, green beans, and peanuts - my first time tasting this dish! Loved it!

We rarely finish our entire entrees when we go out for dinner, but here, we couldn't resist finishing every last bite of the curry and pad thai!

On our way out, I was drawn to the point of purchase sweets for sale and upon the server's recommendation bought some candied mango to take home - a very low cost treat!

Overall, a fantastic experience - we cannot wait to return to try some other menu items at Chad Thai again soon!
Vinny
Love this place. I was there a few times. Pad thai, curry, pad kropow are very tasty. I order them spicy. So good. Definitely must try.

Authentic Thai Food!. Delicious Thai food. The best I've had since living in Thailand. Authentic and for a good price! Their pad siew is heavenly.
Ruocaled
Decent curry. Very good curry, comes with mild option. Would be better if they come with rice like Thai Cafe...$2 for a small bowl of rice here makes the the lunch no longer under $10.

Chad Thai is one of my favorite places to eat on the heights and I am a regular customer. The staff are very friendly, the food is reasonable, and delicious. Adds a great flavor to the community. Easily one of the top restaurants on the Heights and the surrounding area.
Sheila
DELICIOUS. Got takeout from here last week. It was absolutely delicious and they offer two of my favourite things: crispy wontons and mussamun curry. Will definitely go back.
Storm
Great Thai food. Craving for hot and spicy food ,for a while, so I googled and found this place...in Burnaby height..not too far from where we live. This is a very nice and simple Thai restaurant. We had PadThai, Hot and spicy shrimp soup, spicy beef salad ..extra hot and a few beer. They were very delicious. The total bill was about 30 bucks. Will definitely return....

Awesome food! Lovely staff!!!. Awesome food and fast, friendly, accomodating staff!!!!
As a fellow budiness owner in the area, so glad to know of this wonderful restaurant in the heights!!!!:))

Love this place! A neighborhood gem!. Hands down, the best thai in Vancouver. We live down the street and have favored driving to Seattle for great Thai, but now it's just a walk away. Don't miss this. Owner and service is great, lovely people. They spice it perfectly to our liking.
Please support them-you won't be disappointed.
Sasha
Love this restaurant. I go here frequently and have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious. I often go for he lunch special or order to-go and it's fresh and hot. The staff is also great. When I've come for pick-up the server has me sample some dessert items. This is my go-to in NorBurn. Among the best the neighborhood has to offer.

Best thai food in the city. I live nearby and while i've heard exceptional things about this place, it always seems to be nearly empty whenever i walk past. after trying it out for myself tonight, i'm puzzled as to why tom yum thai isn't packed every night. the food is amazing! without a doubt the best thai i have ever had. it's authentic and prepared with fresh, high quality ingredients. hours later, i'm still smacking my lips when i think about the tom yum tofu- spicy, tangy and perfectly balanced- and the crispy, mouth-watering spring rolls. the pad thai was also delicious. it's funny, but i find a lot of thai places do kind of a half-assed job of this most well-known of thai dishes. here, they make an excellent version. the sauce is delicious and there's enough of it to cover the perfectly cooked noodles. i like how they serve the chili and ground peanuts on the side so that you can season to your taste. as if the food weren't enough, the service was excellent. the floor was staffed by a friendly young woman who has the art of serving down pat: she was prompt and attentive without hovering or being overbearing.
YumVegGrub
Well Done Thai Cuisine. So, at first, we were somewhat put-off by the fact that the prices on the menu online were not what we were gonna be paying. Curry is listed as 8.59 although it's 9.99 at the restaurant - that in my opinion, is a considerable difference.
I have visited here a couple of times in the restaurant although we often have take-out. The warm service never disappoints (there might be communication/language difficulties over the phone though) and the dishes just speak for themselves - exceptionally tasty! I am a big fan of the Tofu Pad Thai and Tofu Pad LadNa. They are not overly greasy at all.
I do find that the portions with other dishes can vary ....not certain how much I will be getting.

The BEST & Most Authentic Pad Thai in Metro Vancouver. The title says it all - they make the BEST pad thai I've ever had in Metro Vancouver.

I went here for dinner with my husband last night and had a wonderful dinner. We shared their pad thai and cashew chicken. The pad thai with chicken was absolutely, mouth wateringly delicious. The flavour was very complex and had this slow hot heat from the chili powder. You could taste all the spices and the tamarind. The thing I enjoyed the most was the authenticity of the dish and the fact that it wan't a scary brigh orange/reddish colour (like all other Thai or rather "Thai" restaurants in Metro Van).

The cashew chicken dish was also extremely flavourful. The cashews were PERFECTLY toasted and gave a lot of contrast with the other parts of the dish. My only complaint was that they were skimpy on the chicken.

The service was wonderful. Absolutely no complaints here. Our waitress was friendly and kept our glasses full the entire time (I think she visited us at least 5 times just to fill our glasses). My favourite part of the service aspect was that all their chefs are THAI (according to their website)!

The value was good. The pad thai was larger than I thought it would be - but both dishes were a bit skimpy on the meat (but definitely NOT in the flavour department).

Ambiance was a little bit kitschy - but still nice. The one thing I was impressed with in terms of the ambiance was the dish ware used (beautiful white and blue porcelain dishes).

I would DEFINITELY come back here again and will spread the word about their AMAZING pad thai!

The proprietor from Chang Mai is very sweet. The food is great! I will be eating here again...

In Thailand I learned that there is so much more than tom yum soup and pad thai. If you want wide range of thai food to try, I would suggest visting Chad Thai in North Burnaby.

...liquid kind of throws the dish off balance as the pork was stir fried so beautifully. Maybe the kitchen could strain the dish first before serving? #5 Chicken Wings: Crisp fried chicken wings marinated in spices and garlic - 2 J's comment > juicy, but slightly overcooked #43 Mussamun Curry: Mussamun curry paste w chicken cooked in coconut milk w tamarind juice, pineapple, potatoes and peanuts - 2 J's comment > the chicken was a tad dry and though the curry was good, it was kind of one-dimensional and I didn't really get anything other than the coconut milk #92 Pad Ki Mao: Stir fried beef, thin rice noodles, onions, bell peppers, fresh chili, karrif lime leaves and Thai basil - 2 J's comment > kinda 'wet'. Don’t let its little cafe look fool you. Not just a whole in the wall, this seemed to be the community’s go to for authentic Thai cuisine. The place was certainly busy. Pretty unspectacular on the exterior, a black awning with its name in yellow script; it almost blended into the background of a street lined with tiny shops and other one of cafes and diners such as this one. Inside the restaurant was longer than it was wide. Right by the door way sat a lone chair available for anyone to sit should they require a wait. Beside it a shelf of complimentary newspapers and free magazines. A stretch of two top tables reached all the way to the back of the room. And on this Tuesday evening each was seated. The room was filled with a unison hum of constant conversation and cutlery hitting share plates. Intermingled was the chime of the phone ringing and the sounds of folks coming in and going out with take out orders. I could hardly hear the spa-like calming melody playing in the background or

Overall everything was good, but we felt that the portions were a bit small, but it would be great for if you want to have portion control ;)
Good price and yummy food, will definately go again.

The dressing was pretty typical– tart from the lime and tamarind, sweet and spicy– but I appreciated that we were able to choose the degree of spice...

Of course almost at any Thai restaurant I must order Tom Yung Soup - A spicy and sour creamy soup with white mushrooms, coriander, lemongrass, red onions, kaffir limes leaves and galangal. This one was good sweet and sour and spicy (we ordered the mild), if you can eat very spicy you can definiltatey try their medium. Then, it’s the Gai Yung - Thai grilled chicken marinated in Thai herbs and spices, served with sweet chili sauce or spicy Thai dip. I really liked this chicken, the herbs are great with the sweet chili sauce. I loved it so much and tastes great with their jasmine rice. Nomnomnom! :p

Chad Thai is a rather narrow restaurant with plain yellow walls and dark brown tables. When I arrived for lunch mid-week in late May, it wasn’t too busy so service was quick.

Half of the fun of going to a restaurant is the experience. Yes, the food is an integral part of what makes a restaurant worth going to, but so is the experience. That being said, I find that when I read reviews on urbanspoon or yelp or Google Places, I find that there are two types of people posting: those who absolutely loved their meal and those who hated it and wanted to make sure people knew. There are barely few that are in between. I guess a great experience or a poor experience are the only reasons to spark the motivation to write a review. I’m not going to wash my hands clean of that and say that sometimes I don’t do that, because yes, I do. But sometimes I find error in judgement of places. This brings me back to my latest encounter. While there are a lot of negative reviews regarding service, there are so many positive reviews regarding food at this particular restaurant. Perhaps looking at it from a different angle may change reviewers thoughts (but most likely not), so let

Chad Thai Restaurant is located in North Burnaby on Hastings street. M and I were looking for some place to eat on Hastings and when we passed by, we began craving Thai food. Since we don’t have Thai food that often, we thought we would give it a try. The interior isn’t large, so there is limited seating. We came at around 2pm, so there was plenty of seats available. The service was nice and friendly. They are the winners of the best Thai restaurant according to the readers of the Burnaby Now. Their lunch menu comes with complementary appetizers . There were fried wontons and a salad. We weren’t expecting this but it was definitely a nice start to the meal. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was delicious. Khao Soi Gai ($10.99) has egg noodles with sliced chicken breast in curry sauce, topped with crispy egg noodles, green beans and coriander. It is served with red onions, lime and chili oil on the side. The portion wasn’t too large, but it was a decent size for lunch. It had a lot of in

I always love a good bowl of Pho but my mom is a die-hard Pad Thai fan, so on a day when I was meeting her for lunch, I suggested Chad Thai (so she could have her fix and so we could stay rather close to home as well). Though Thai cuisine is not really known for noodle soups, I have been exposed to versions of them at Pink Elephant Thai near my work. As with most Thai lunch specials, our meal came with a daily appy ( deep fried wonton and a simple broth ). The soup was as bland as it looked. You can't really go wrong with deep fried foods, and it's the same here, crunchy exterior with a bit of meat in the middle. Sometimes, I feel restaurants would do themselves a favour and not serve anything "free" if they are going to be so lackluster. Afterall, this was the first thing I tried from their establishment, and I was completely unimpressed. Why start someone's lunch off that way? Fortunately, the next few dishes managed to redeem them in my eyes. This Tom Yum Noodle Soup (the reason for

A couple of years ago, as we were driving around in North Burnaby, I noticed an old diner had been transformed into Tom Yum Thai . Being an aspiring foodie at the time, I naturally stopped and gave it a try. It was underwhelming, to say the least. I can't

I would actually suggest ordering off the set menu. There are some things I tried that were a bit more unique to this restaurant, and those items I would come back for. Some things I found on par to certain Thai restaurants in and around Vancouver, but if you’re in the Burnaby Heights area, Chad Thai is a good option.

Tom Yum Thai has been on my radar for quite some time. They are situated in The Heights area of Burnaby, and we've enjoyed their (street) food on Hats Off Day in years past . I also worked in Burnaby at one point and my co-workers always raved about Tom Y
