Excellent food, fast service. My go2 sushi place.
A decent and cheap sushi place. Used to eat here during my undergrad studies in 2014. Fast forward to 2019, I revisited this place and ordered what I've always ordered back then, spicy salmon sashimi and Alaska roll. Both still taste the same, only the portion has become smaller compared to 2014 :)
More sushi! Japanese food is my no. 1 go to food in Vancouver. It's pretty cheap, big portion, fresh and tasty. I also trust the quality of these raw fish than the ones I get in Hong Kong. Came to Burnaby and just had to drop by Sushi Garden, one of my favorite sushi place. I love all their rolls!
What I really love about sushi Garden is the amount of variety that there is in their sushi. Compared to the usual sushi rolls that you get at most Japanese restaurants, this place mixes things up. I really love the prices as well as they’re not too expensive and they reflect the quality of the sushi. I also really enjoy the set up of the restaurant as it brings me back to a rustic yet modern Japan.
I have never had better alaska rolls in my life, their sushi is fresh and their service is quick, they have convenience parking to park your car in all their 3 different locations, if you have big parties just order sushi to go from them and enjoy your night.

I really enjoyed the sushi here. This is not your typical place that cheaps out on the sashimi. When you order sashimi they tend to cut bigger pieces so you get your money's worth. I was disappointed however as I didn't get to try the red tuna (they ran out at 6:30pm) which seems super early. The rolls were creative but packed with too much rice. If you're thinking of going down be prepared to wait 30 mins for a table. Otherwise I was impressed that my bill for two people was under 50 bucks.
Today we went to Sushi Garden on Kingsway for a quick lunch after our haircut 🙂 The restaurant is quite big and has a busy vibe. This is a very casual restaurant to eat at so if you want atmosphere, then this isn’t the place for you (we heard multiple crashes of plates dropping on the floor) BUT if you just want some quick sushi without stressing on budget, then this is the place 🙂 Everything is so cheap and they don’t skimp on fillings! It may not be the best place for Japanese food but it is certainly the most affordable place. Not to mention, this is a Korean ran Japanese restaurant and they do have some creative rolls as you will see below! 🙂
My friend and I came to Sushi Garden for lunch when it just opened. Everything goes so smooth and fast. We got a table and served right away. I was my third times having food at this restaurant. Even though it has been changed couple times during past few years, it’s still one of my favorite sushi restaurants. I had spicy Salmon combo and my friend ordered smoked salmon roll & Ebi roll. The food came so fast. All the sushi and rolls are so fresh and tasty. If you want to have cheaper, faster, and good quality of Japanese Sushi, Sushi Garden could be a great place for you to go.
My family and I come here fairly often. It's super quick, its tasty, its reasonably priced! Fish is fresh and service is always good. no complaints here!
Good place for takeout sushi, it gets very crowded and hectic to eat in most of the time. The prices are good and they give a lot of fish and food for your buck. I like their teriyakis and all of the rolls are made nicely, a little bit too much rice but fresh fish.
This place always seems busy, so I haven’t been here that often. The food is pretty cheap for sushi relatively speaking. 9 pc salmon sashimi: $9.95. The pieces of salmon were very thick and large. Although I do enjoy copious amounts of salmon sashimi, the size of each piece was a little too big for my liking. This was only $9.95 for nine pieces!
I always get take out here. Mainly because I don't have patience to wait in line for an hour. Must trys are: mentaiko udon, Alaska roll, negitoro roll, Toro sashimi, and Spicy salmon sashimi salad. It's cheap and delicious. They do have 3 locations so try to go off central meal hours to avoid wait times.
Sushi garden has been my aunts and little sister favorite sushi place for several years already so that we decided to go there.
The place has narrow walk space which makes it difficult to leave your table because you may bump to the other tables.
That day I was craving for raw so I decided to order their sashimi and sushi combo. For the appetizer I had their miso soup. The miso soup was very tasty. The salmon sashimi was really soft and not chewy at all. The tuna sashimi was not that good compared to the salmon! On the other hand, the sushi (tuna, salmon, ebi, hokigai and the chopped scallop) was good!
The price was also reasonable and service was great! Another to-go to place for great sushi. 👌🏻

I noticed the soft shell crab is a lot smaller here, but the chicken karage here is a lot bigger than North Burnaby location. Guess it just depends what gets delivered to the restaurant. The mentaiko udon got a lot smaller now. None the less, food is still good.
Sushi Garden seems to be one of the most common sushi joints to hit up in Vancouver, maybe its because they have several locations though. I often find myself coming here when I just want to get some sushi in my stomach and am too lazy to find a different sushi place to try, in my opinion it is pretty standard. It hasn't failed me but it also doesn't wow me, I recommend getting the sashimi as their cuts are fairly generous. I also find the spicy salmon sashimi to be pretty good, the rolls however are mediocre. So if you just want to get the "basic" sushi then this is definitely the place to go!
This place is great to go to with friends and family. I have gone here a couple times and I would go here again. I ordered the plain udon once and it was alright. I usually order the California rolls and prawn tempura. The green tea ice cream is also really good. However, the restaurant is a little small and there is always many people crowded around the entrance while they wait for a table. You usually have to wait a while but I think it's worth it because the food is great.
Great Sushi place, one the best in Vancouver. Very good prices and good quality a bit of a go to for us when looking for a quick bite. Salmon Sashimi is one of the best in Vancouver.
These are one of my favourite sushi places, it's always busy so be early they DO NOT TAKE RESERVATION. Everything there is pretty good and you can't go wrong with anything. Just go and try something! But parking is sometimes hard to find so yah but it's a great restaurant!
Really cheap and fresh sushi. Always satisfied and is always busy. (Expect wait times always!) However, it is worth the wait and I am always happy to go to Sushi Garden. Service may seem rushed or a bit hectic but that's because it is insanely busy in this small restaurant. I always tip on the higher end for these guys.
I only come to Sushi Garden for take out because its always pretty busy, but that is my only complaint! This place is great value! For lunch I sometimes order the kids meal or 1-2 rolls and its always good and always under 10 bucks! Everyone I've dealt with at the restaurant has been polite, kind and quick with their service!
When I came here the other day it was HOPPING. Noticing that there was a sizable line-up out the door, was fearing we weren’t going to get in, but thankfully the line passed quickly and we were in within 5-7 minutes! As a side note, I noticed that the menus and layout here are so similar to Sushi California’s, they must be related in some way…perhaps same ownership?
If you want sushi on budget this is a great place for individuals that want bang for buck. I also find that prices with quantity has slower service, lack of staff, with no service motivation. But if you can survive that you'll eat good. It's as simple as that. This place gets packed and noisey fast!
Favourite sushi place ever! Large portions, great price. So worth the 30 min trip from where we were staying (downtown) when we were in Vancouver. The sashimi here is sooooo good and so thick 😍😍
First of all, I was not disappointed. The prices were very cheap, it was surprise me! Even though I waited for a long time I thought it was worth. I ordered the California roll, salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll and tako yaki. I love the salmon sashimi! It was very thick and fresh. There foods are good quantities. The most important thing is cheap for the price but don't expect much service from the Sushi Garden.
Aside from the toro sashimi, another dish that we always order is the spicy tuna sashimi. This dish always, always gets me, because of their sauce. Regular tuna sashimi is diced up and marinated in their spicy sauce along with cubed cucumbers.
Not only does it taste great, it is also very affordable (< $10).
This is available in half or full portions. Ken and I usually get the half, and get the full when we are with other friends and family to share.
Similar to places like Sushi Town or California Sushi, which is great. Good prices, pretty decent sushi, and good quantities. Sushi Garden is always packed to the brim with people lining up and down the restaurant. Favourite item to order is the spicy tuna combo for sure because of my undying love for spicy tuna and its good pricing!

It was fresh and cheap, from Calgary this place is amazing. Good food, but I only really had the shasimi. Other dishes were good to, price and portion size was the winning factor.
FINALLLLLY HAD SOME SUSHI IN VANCITY and i was not at all disappointed! first of all, the prices were shawty got em apple bottom jeans LOW LOW LOW LOW, which my wallet likes very much 😁 we talking $3.75 for 6 pieces of takoyaki!! and $8.95 for 9 pieces of VERY BIG pieces of hella spicy not pricey salmon sashimi! When i ordered the maki rolls i was expecting some tiny ass battery sized stuff but NOO THEY WERE PRETTY BIG and there were 8 pieces instead of ur typical 6! simply put, it tasted delicious!! i am defs coming back sooner or later to try their other stuff..
I went to this place on a weekday night, it must be summer time there was a long line up, i felt my name at the front counter and I have to wait for about 30 min to get a seat. I ordered a salad, and six sushi pieces and four different kind of hand cut rolls, this place is constantly good I would recommend to any one in the metro town area.

I have read lots of reviews about the great value and long queues of Sushi Garden. Heard it is the best Korean sushi joint in town. Hubby chose to come here on the way home from our road trip. He has been to this place before but this was my first time visit.
Sushi Garden offers good quality & generous amounts of food for decent prices. However, infamous for their long line-ups and poor service... I have noticed variation in their food (not huge variation, but things such as large/small pieces of sashimi). I personally would prefer the Lougheed location over the Kingsway location because it is much more comfortable.

Don't get the hype. I waited for 15 minutes which is record time for dinner! tried their soft shell crab roll, tempura udon, unagi and negitoro roll. The prices are affordable but i've tasted better sushi.

Never disappoints . I find myself returning about once a week and never seem to get tired of it. Waiting for tables might be for a problem for most, but I only come in pairs so I get seated almost instantly every time.
I've tried nearly every roll on the menu, and none seem to disappoint, at least based on their prices. My favourites would be Alaska roll (always), bill's roll, and the spicy tuna roll.
Their sashimi is cheaper than all other sushi places I've seen, and aren't bad at all, but they're nothing special either.
As for appetizers, they have the best takoyaki I can find for the best price (3.75)
And give generous portions of gomae and seaweed salad and such, all of which are my favourites.
Most recently though I went for a snack, just to accompany a friend and decided to order just two appetizers which turned out to be a meal.
I ordered tuna gomae and decided to try the seafood salad my other friend had recommended for me which came out as large as my pillow. It came in a large bowl and was delicious, with your basic salad, vermicelli noodles, kani, tako, prawn, tobiko, some mayonnaise and some sort of vinaigrette on the side.
This might be my new favourite from sushi garden and I'm looking forward to return(again!)
Good, cheap food but LOOOONG waits for tables. Place is always packed when I come for dinner after a movie at Metrotown. Get your name on the list and go check out the comic book store a block down or something. Their Spicy Tuna Don is what keeps bringing me back. Huge portions with fresh fish + a nice korean spicy sauce. Their other dons, sunomonos, and rolls are all very affordable and tasty. Obviously, due to their insane flux of customers their servers are always in a rush so if you don't really mind their mediocre service, a table is definitely worth waiting for.
Overall decent. Very good spicy tuna and salmon sashimi... one of my faves in Vancouver :-) Service is okay... not always great but overall satisfactory considering how busy the place usually is. The lines get a little long on weekends- be prepared to wait as that is the case usually.
Fantastic. Big slices of sashimi! This is fast, quick service with no frills, but you can eat a cheap and filling meal in less than 15 minutes.
Sushi is OK but skip the line. I'm not sure about this place but there is always...always a line. I used to go there after work after working in a place in Metro town. Perfect location for me.
What I didn't like is that there is a line EVERYTIME i see the place. I always order take out and to be honest, you have to check that too because It's happened that some pieces of my sashimi are missing. Just saying, the food is good but be careful with your time and take out.
Big and thick pieces of sashimi. I didn't expect a lineup for sushi at 4pm. Anyways I'm here just for pickup up takeout. They girl said my order was going to take 20 mins. I didn't expect them to be ready. The nigiri comes with a very long tail and the sashimis were thick! Fresh but don't expect anything fancy. It would be better if they have some specialty rolls.
O.K.. I have been here many times, only when I'm occasionally in Burnaby.
This place is very busy, yet very small space.
All the table are squished together which makes it hard to enjoy.
The sushi roll portions are quite big so I definitely recommend them :)

The food is great. That being said, the service is horrible. I get that they're constantly busy - but they handle it very poorly.
DivasEatToo: Sushi Garden Review. Sushi Garden, located in Burnaby across from Metrotown is great for sashimi lovers. It is probably one of the longest lineups for sushi in Burnaby, so if you are hungry, you better call in for a reservation or expect a long wait time during peak hours (sometimes they are first-come first serve).
I've been here many times, and each time the sashimi is very fresh and comes in large portions. They also have a variation of special rolls, which are mostly delicious. For sashimi, you can expect the most common items such as salmon, toro, and all of the traditional nigiris. If you are looking for more exotic eats, like monk fish livers, aji, fugu, etc, then this is probably not the place for you.
Overall: awesome!....except the long waits :(

Had a light dinner there where i tried the seafood salad. The portion size and taste both impressed me by a whole lot. The price was very reasonable and the service was not bad. Will definitely go there again!
I have yet to find a sushi place that gives out portions like sushi garden. If there is a place please tell me... Ill be at sushi garden ;)
