We went for the buffet and were extremely happy with the variety and tastiness of each dish.  As well,we got an order to go for another party and they also enjoyed the food as much as we did. Highly recommenced!

Sending out of town guest away and we picked Saffron for dinner since she said she walked by this place before and wanted to check it out. We ordered the Chai tea and Mango Lassi and they are both tasty. I ordered the Saffron Thali because I wanted to try a few different things (it comes with dessert too) while my friend got the butter chicken (safest choice since she's not had Indian cuisine before). They have really big portion so we ended up packing half of the butter chicken back home. Overall the food was not bad.

First things first.

The naan bread is straight up legit. They serve you a regular naan as well as a garlic version which is on a wholenothalevel!!

The buffet provides you a ton of options, with the basic staples as well as more adventurous options so everyone wins!

The food also has a home cooked feel and flavour. Definitely doesn't taste processed or bulk made.

Recommend all day!

Since I am craving for indian food, my brother decided to treat me to lunch here at saffron. We decided not to have their buffet because we were not heavy eaters.

We decided to have their butter chicken and channa masala ( chick peas). It was so good. Definitely one of the best indian cuisine here in Vancouver. We ordered them just the right amount of spice and still the curry flavor is still there. 👌🏻

The ambiance was also great. Very big space and the servers were also very attentive.

I came here for dinner with a friend last night. This restaurant got great Indian food. Many customers had dinner here as well. They were from different cultures.

The restaurant has a decent size with many tables and chairs. Most of the customers had all you can eat buffet, so servers were busy cleaning our tables or taking away our dishes and giving us water. All you can eat buffet included a wide varieties of curry chicken, beef and seafood (prawns), two different types of Indian rice, some deep fried veggies (onions and potatoes), salads with different dressings, and etc. We also had some naan bread to go with the curry food. Everything tasted excellent.

The only downsize of eating here is the smell of the curry. After dinner, we walked out of the restaurant, but our clothes, hair and everything else smelled like curry. Other than the curry smell, I was satisfied with everything. I wouldn't mind to come back here for another meal!! :)

The buffet was awesome. The tandoori chicken in the starters menu was very succulent and I could not hold on gorging on as much as I could. And the dessets, kheer and gulab jamun. Must visit for Indian food lovers.

Yes, Brewji has to eat, too! So, why not show off all the delicious grub while I'm at it?

Since Zomato doesn't make it easy to link your blog posts to their reviews, unless you're willing to put in hours of effort teaching yourself a course, I'm going to post it all here! Besides, what goes better with beer than food (or more beer?), right?

To kick off the year, I started with my post on Russell Brewing's holiday brew package. Now, I'm going to show you what my city has to offer!

By "My city", I mean the Greater Vancouver area.Tammy and I were at Saffron Indian Cuisine near Metrotown on New Year's Day. It was one of the only places open, and we finally decided we didn't want a grease-fuelled hangover cure (for dinner). Before we got our appetizers or our mains, we were treated to some complimentary Papadum (chickpea flour cracker). I thought every table got some, but it turns out we were special :)

The service was really good. I like their mutter panner and butter chicken. Their naan is also kinda different with other indian restaurants. Mind you, it was my first time liking a naan (not sure if it's just my taste buds :p). Worth trying though. They also offer buffet.

The $13.95 good ol' lunch buffet still is good value! And boy, was this place rocking on a Friday lunch hour! For the price, you do get a nice variety of curries (about 3 veggie options), rice, naan, appies and salad and dessert. The butter chicken sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking this time, but the tandoori chicken flavour has improved. Also, the meatball curry was very good. Still love the mango and rice kheer for dessert.

Great food, service ok. My second favourite indian restaurant in Burnaby. The curries are excellent. The only complaint is the smaller rice portion they provide which is not nearly enough to use up all the curry they give. And the service can be hit or miss depending on who your server is, and when it gets real busy in there the servers can get overwhelmed, but there is a reason they get so busy. You don't really go there for the service, you go there for the good food. Buffet has a pretty decent selection and great when it's fresh out of the kitchen, but it's pricey.

Best Indian In Van. I have Indian relatives and I've eaten at many Indian restaurants in Vancouver but this is my favourite! It used to be a fantastic value, but the prices have been slowly creeping up to match the quality level over the years. Despite this, it's still a fantastic place for rich flavours, great service, and a calming atmosphere. They don't cheap out on ingredients - sauces are all rich thick and creamy - with strong flavours throughout..they aren't just gelled up with watery thickeners.

The meat dishes have generous portions of pure meat - not that water-infused trick that many places do to make portions look bigger. The spinach dishes are particularly well done - good luck making those at home!

If you want a delicious (but greasy) appetizer try their Paneer Pakora. Done to perfection and an excellent dipping sauce.

I highly recommend the garlic naan. It's the best I've ever had!

The servers are always friendly, and the instrumental ethnic beats set a fantastic mood for the gently lit atmosphere. I recommend for a date :)

If the dine-in is too pricey for you, you can save quite a bit but getting take out. I recommend dropping by the buffet at lunch sometime. There is always a nice mix of dishes to try out for your next visit. There is a dessert area, but personally I'm not really a fan of Indian treats. Give one of the little sugar balls a shot for fun, but don't expect to eat it all yourself unless your a sugar addict.

Secret tip! The pizza place next door is the same business AND you can get that exact same butter chicken goodness on top of your pizza. It's exceptionally tasty!

Took me back to Kenyan Indian Restaurant. We lived for 5 years in Nairobi, Kenya which has a large Indian population and many fantastic Indian restaurants. It has been three years and this is the first time that I have enjoyed the food as much as I did there. The authentic flavours and dishes were awesome. The atmosphere is excellent and the staff is very friendly. We will be adding this to our list of regular restaurants to eat at. Thank you Saffrons for a wonderful lunch.

First time trying Indian food. We went for the buffet and there weren't much customers when we walked in at 11:30, but within 30 minutes, the place was practically full!
The environment was very beautiful with many Indian decorations to observe.
The food was really good, it wasn't as spicy as i had anticipated, but since it was the all-you-can-eat-buffet, its understandable that it would be mild.
(you'll end up having a lot of sauce on your plate, but you can wipe it with the naan and eat it !)
My favourite thing was the naan, it was very fluffy and soft!

Best Indian Food in Burnaby. Our office is in Burnaby so we order from Saffron time to time. The food quality is really high and they deliver to almost anywhere in Burnaby. My favorite dish is "Chicken Vindaloo" and I always try to get "Gulab Jamun" as a dessert to make my day happier!! You can hardly go wrong with this place.

Saffron Indian Cuisine has improved again!. We gave Saffron Indian Cuisine 5 stars in the past, but after our visit in May, 2011 we noticed some points of concern and gave it 3 stars, now after our most recent visit (July, 2012) Saffron has improved a lot and are at least a 4 star restaurant again.

Their food quality at their buffet is great and the service very good. In order to receive 5 stars I would like to see improved cleanliness (the carpets are visibly soiled).

Lunch with the co-workers!!. We love to hit up the buffet at Saffron when going out for lunch - and there's always at least 14 of us.

It's priced well for better than average Indian cuisine and we're always more than satisfied. There's just enough items that you're not overloaded with choices. And with the number of people we go with, there are always special diets or diet restrictions, and everyone is always able to eat - and eat good!

Not the best, but good.. The food at Saffron's is .. okay. It's a little overpriced for dinner, but the lunch buffet is a great deal. It's also very popular, so arrive early. There is the usual assortment of dishes, most prepared well. It's all perfectly adequate -- don't expect anything fancy, but solid yummy meal.

Hit or Miss. Mostly hit for me.

I have been there a quite a few times, as I used to live around the corner from here. I usually stayed away from their buffet and ordered from the Menu.

I didn't like how their take out menu was different from their eat in menu. If you order in, you have to order & pay for rice. If you take out or order delivery, you get the rice with...what's up with that?

There were a few times that I thought their kitchen couldn't handle a busy dining room, as it could take a while after ordering until you get your food. However, their Rogan Josh is awesome, and I love their garlic Naan. YUM!

The last time I ate there, I ordered to go & was told it would be about 20 - 25 minutes for my food. I waited almost 55 minutes, then got my order to go. I drove home to Surrey, opened up the bag & found they messed up my order!!! Grrrrr....I called & they did make it right by offering me a free dinner next time in the area.

While the wait can be long sometimes, I have always found their food worth it.

Good comfort food. My second time here and I was not disappointed. I think this is my go-to Indian place in Burnaby (although my sweetie says there is one place more down the road that I'd like). My chai was lovely. My sweetie's mango lemonade was too sweet. We shared the mixed tandoori grill - the tandoori lamb chops were particularly good. We also shared the mutter paneer - because an Indian meal without paneer isn't ever going to be ok - it was very good, on the sweet side. Plain naan = yummy. All the flavours mixed together - very good and comforting and we left clean plates in our wake. Satisfying and warm in our bellies.

We had been here before and loved it. The last time we decided to try the buffet. By the time the 5 pm buffet opened it was 620 pm. Butter chicken was dry and they didn't seem to be overly concerned about our wait. Appy off the main menu was great but by buffet time we were full. Very disappointed this time.

Best northern Indian cuisine in the Lower Mainland. Very reasonably priced - lunch boxes, buffet, ala carte. My favuorties are chicken tandoori, lamb korma, vegetable perkedel, and briyani rice.

Saffron is definitely a go-to place for quick and easy Indian cuisine to satisfy your craving. Upon entering, we were quickly greeted and sat down, the staff offered us to take a look at the buffet before deciding to order off the menu, or opt for the buffet which was $19.99 per person. We decided to go for the buffet. It included butter chicken, salmon curry, spinach chicken curry, goat curry, and much much more, as well as tandoori chicken. The buffet option also included unlimited fresh naan brought to your table. Lassi, a yogurty Indian drink was something I decided to try today, you can order it both sweet, or salty. I have a major sweet tooth so I decided to go with the sweet option. Conclusion: Great Indian buffet for the not-so adventurous. Authentic tastes, however, the selection is pretty mainstream. Come hungry, because it’s a tad pricey for

Saffron Indian Cuisine is quite renowned in Burnaby for authentic tasting Indian cuisine for cheap! For a lunch buffet it's about $13.99 a person. Even though buffets tend to skimp on quality, that's definitely not the case at Saffron. They bring out freshly baked naan for your table, so it's not sitting at the buffet counter getting soggy. They also have a salad bar with various salads and some fruit, that I didn't really get the chance to try, as I was busy perusing the other main options haha. The naan was divine: soft, warm, and doughy, just as naan should be. Even though they only have about 8-9 dishes to choose from at the buffet, it's definitely quality over quantity. The rice dishes were nice and fluffy. The chicken was delicious as well, perfectly seasoned. The consistency of the curry dishes were also well done, as they were not too water down nor too lumpy. The curry was potent, and mildly spicy. The pakora was tasty as well, it was perfectly crispy and wasn't too dry (my pe

I've been craving Indian food a lot lately! It seems the visit to Indian Oven wasn't good enough to satisfy my Indian food fix. Saffron Indian Cuisine is the go to place for our department if there's something to celebrate - birthdays, employment anniversaries, maternity leaves, etc. It's right across the street from our office, and has probably the best Indian buffet I've had. It costs around $13 after tax during lunch time. In the year and a bit that I've worked at my current job, I've eaten here probably half a dozen times now, and the buffet changes quite a bit day to day with a few select staples that are always there - such as saag paneer, and butter chicken. There's usually a good selection of saucy beef, lamb, and chicken dishes, and vegetable dishes. The start of the line has some greek salads, yogurts, and desserts. The further down the line you go, you'll get your rice, the vegetables, and finally meats. The last time I went they had a new thing called bread pakora. It was crispy and kind of airy. Basically fried, battered bread. Definitely a filler. They also had small samosas this time, w
