Review Trattoria Burnaby - Burnaby

Prish
Trattoria is definitely worth a try on a Tuesday, which is when their pastas are $16. On any other day, it would not be worth it to pay above $20 for their pasta dishes. Otherwise, the portions are not bad and the Spaghetti and Signature Meatballs with truffle cream sauce and Short Rib Pappardelle were the highlights of our dinner.

I recommend you make dinner reservations especially if it’s close to the weekend. We missed the happy hour which is from 2 – 5 pm or from 9 pm til closing. They have a good selection on the menu. The best value was the 3 type of platter dishes – 1) Antipasto – enough for 2 to 3 people 2) Pasta platter – looked delish but no one wanted to share with me 3) Carne platter. I saw other tables ordering the antipasto platter so we did the same. Our other diner had the braised lamb with risotto. The meat was cooked to perfection (the meat fell off the bone) as promised by our server. Another diner had a popular spaghetti and meatballs in truffle cream. There was something about the meatballs that wasn’t wowing. Service was great especially asking the server for recommendations. If you can’t choose, ask your server. The challenge is parking. There is no free parking. They’re located on the busy intersection on the northeast corner of Willingdon and Kingsway. Not far from Metrotown Mall.

Not many people for dinner. I feel their brunch is better. We ordered two kinds of platters. Food is a bit salty. Paid $4 for 2 hours underground parking. In pandemic, you want to stay as much time as you can to meeting with friends & family. If the restaurant could offer free parking, I think it'll be more popular.

My friend decided to take me out for my Birthday, as this was my first trip to Vancouver/Burnaby! We came across this local restaurant through Google. Rebekah, our waitress, and the two men that helped her were amazing and so friendly! We had the spaghetti and meatballs and Gelato for dessert! I have never had such good Italian food or service before! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant that has an entire staff of helpful and charismatic people, with insanely tasty food to boot! P.s. They even got us seated right away, on an insanely busy night! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

I had the ragu which I thought was very well done. Prices are a little high but they have a pasta Tuesday deal which is well worth it. Beautiful dishware. We had great service! Parking can be tricky on the street level but there’s pay parking underground.

I visited Saturday night. Gamberini shrimp looks like cooked long time ago. Overcooked pasta noodles . And pizza dough too much semolina . Calamari was under seasoning.

We sat at the bar table near the pizza oven and drink station, so got to see some action. Saw our pizza accidentally get packaged into a box, put on the delivery side table and then later taken back out and put on a plate and given to us. So the dough was a little soggier than fresh out of the oven. But still good flavour

We like Tratt Tue, $16 pasta. It used to be half price Tuesday before. My spaghetti meatballs with tomato basil sauce was excellent. Caesar salad was great too. Dessert was Tiramisu, very good too. We will be back for the Tratt Tuesday.👍

2.5. It wasn’t that we didn’t like it....We had a private room for my nephew’s grad lunch. The first salad, greens/quinoa, was ok. Needed some salt. The second salad, Caesar salad, was very small. We had 2 plates for 6 people but it was like 2 bites each. The pizzas were decent sized and warm/hot. But the pasta dish with gnocchi, spaghetti, meatballs, raviola was cold/warm. The raviola insides were hot, though. We had 1 server who was very nice and friendly and the manager? Came and helped out. When the manager asked how our meal was, i mentioned the pasta dish was warm/cold. She was very surprised! Said she was there when it was plated and brought right out. Then funny, at dinner, my kids who sat at another table, asked if our pasta was hot!!!?NOPE. Dessert was good, with the donut balls and tiramisu and biscotti. Nice to have that private room but bringing out food was slow! Don’t know if that had anything to do with the server having too many tables? Kids mentioned no speciality beers and $8 bottle of beer was too expensive (even tho he wasn’t paying!)

We had lunch today at Trattoria for the first time. Loved the look of the restaurant, the appetizer was great, meal was alright, the dessert was excellent... but wow.. the service was a JOKE. When my friend asked the server for recommendations, her reply was "I'm a very picky eater, and I don't eat this, I don't like bacon, and don't like these ones, so I really don't know." The food came.. I thought my dish was pretty good.. but 2 of my friend's dishes they did not like, they said was too dry... then came dessert/ coffee or tea... she asked us if we wanted anything, we said yes and got the menu, my friend again asked "do you have any speciality coffees? Are there any you can recommend? " her reply was "I don't like coffee mixed with my alcohol and have not really tried the other stuff, so I don't know"... one of our friends ordered dessert... and here's the funniest part.. we only ordered one dessert, so she asked if we were going to share and my friend said yes. Then she says "okay, cause our dishwasher is not working, guess I'll have to wash a few more dishes". The total cost for our meal came to $102.53 for a lunch for 4.. for that price, I would have expected much better service. There was a comment card that came with the bill... but wasn't really a point to it as they get collected by the server anyways. I kept a copy of the receipt. Feel free to contact me if you want more information.

A group of 8 were there for a Saturday night gathering without the kids. First of all, the service was slow, we had to wait for a bit until our food were served. Secondly, they have bad coordination between the two kitchens because the timing of serving the food was 6-8 mins off. When I complained to the Host, she was arguing with me that the bad coordination between the two kitchens should be acceptable. Her attitude make it sound like I am a difficult customer. In fact, (1) customer is always right, (2) if she simply apologize instead of arguing with a customer, we will simply accept it. Thirdly, 2 people ordered seafood pasta and they found crushed shells in their dishes. When we told our server, she gave us a look and said it's seafood pasta. She sounded like we are an idiot that we never had seafood pasta before and there must have crushed shells in this dish. Imagine if we have brought our kids with us and order this dish for them? The server took the dishes back and the Host came and asked them to order "something safe", because if they re-fire the same dish, they will have crushed shells in it. Overall, the food are overcooked and blend. I will not go back to this restaurant and do not recommend this restaurant to anybody else.

My friends and I visited Trattoria two nights ago for Pasta Tuesday, and it was a terrible experience. We were seated at the bar and had ordered some drinks, two appetizers and three pasta entrees. Our drinks arrived promptly, but before we knew it, 40 minutes rolled by and we still hadn’t even gotten our appetizers, cheese bread and Brussels sprouts. We asked our server to check on the food and he said we were “fourth in queue” in the kitchen. I did empathize for our server, who was also bartending, as it was out of his control. Then, when we realized it had been over an hour since we ordered, my friend flagged down a manager, who explained their kitchen was falling behind since it was their busiest night. What boggles my mind is the fact that our appetizers still hadn’t arrived – we were seated directly in front of the oven at the bar and there was no shortage of cheese bread coming out. Now, don’t think I don’t understand that we visited on one of their busiest nights of the week. I was reminded of this fact multiple times by staff. However, this didn’t explain why tables that were seated way after us got their food well before those seated at the bar. The issue here seems to be dining at the bar. Other diners at the bar were also waiting just as long as us – some of whom just left. I’ve visited on Tuesdays before and never had an issue because I’ve only ever been seated at tables. The manager tried to smooth the situation over with a round of drinks on him, but honestly at this point I either just wanted to leave or eat. He also explained that the restaurant was undergoing reorganization which was affecting the kitchen’s speed. This, in my opinion, isn’t even a valid explanation. As a customer-oriented business, you should never allow this to negatively impact the level of service you provide your customers. If you know you’re understaffed and can’t manage the amount of orders you’re receiving, wait a bit longer before seating people. And how/why does it take over an hour to prepare pasta? My friend works in this industry and she was appalled when she heard the story. Aside from the horrendous wait time, the one other thing that left a bad impression was the fact that no one checked up on us between the time our food arrived and when we paid for our bill – in full, mind you. Aside from the free drink offering, nothing was offered to make up for the poor experience or to even ensure that we would return next time. This dining experience has definitely left a poor taste in my mouth, and I don’t see myself returning in the foreseeable future.

Well we came with a large group, even that is no excuse for forgetting meals or producing sub par food. I was an apprentice chef for 7 years the food I was served, finally after the rest of my party had eaten and was asking where my food was served as something I would not have served the dogs. The chicken parmesan was more breading than actual chicken. To add to it, it was burnt. The veg that was served was so heavily salted that it was inedible as it to was burnt. It is hard to screw up this bad. Will never return....

If you're very particular about time, don't go here. We ordered pizza and calamari took almost an hour...excluding 20mins wait for the waiter to take your order. Food was great but not worth the wait

I get it that it is Pasta Tuesday ... but when you place your order at the same time as the table next to you ... they get their order - 15 minutes later the table that sat down way after you gets their order ... at this point no server have even checked on us whether everything was ok .... then you complain & voilà Caesar salad on the house & dinner & services came within 5 minutes ....it took 2 hours to have 2 pasta dinner

Went there for a lunch date finally, told my server as I sat down that I am a vegetarian, got her to check with the kitchen if the soul was made with a chicken broth- ordered, at the end of ordering she asked do you have any other allergies other than being a vegetarian? I said no only a vegetarian- she walks around the bar where the chef told her about the cheese and she told the chef she's a vegetarian- my meal came out I took a bite and there was meat in it! So I put the plate to the side already quite upset and I waited for her to come back- she walked past a few times didn't ask how the meals were so I had to call her over- I told her I told you that I was a vegetarian and I have taken a bite from this meal and it has meat in it- she told me "that's what you ordered" I said yes I also told you I am a vegetarian- she took the plate away and says can I offer you anything else my manager told me to take that meal off the bill- I said no I'm really upset and I feel sick it's been over a decade since I haven't eaten meat- we got the bill my main entree was taken off- still no manager! I'm so upset that even after sleeping on it I'm still fuming this am! So if your a vegetarian the staff at this restaurant and the on floor managers don't give two hoots about your meal requirements have no knowledge of their own menu so I suggest anyone who has specific requirements not to go in! Yesterday was the worst experience in my whole life!

Our server Simon was one of the best. He took such good care of our group and went above and beyond what I have ever seen from any other server. Made our dining experience and special birthday celebration, that much more special and memorable. Guests were raving about the location and food and many will return for the impeccable service Simon provided! Job well done!

My and my wife was there last night. The wait was 45 minutes but we still wait since we already paid for parking and have no idea where else to go. We order drinks and salad and 2 pasta. We waited almost another 45 minutes for our food. We kept asking the waitress what happens to salad and garlic bread?? I know it doesn't take that long for those 2 items anywhere you go!!!! The food was great. Just too too long just for simple snacks which not much cooking involved. I would not recommend anyone go there especially on Tuesday. Me and my wife are very very disappointed and since we already seated we don't want to be a jerk walk out to this restaurant

I visited this place a couple of days ago, and my experiences absolute exceeded my expectations. Very cheerful and polite waitresses, quick service, great food, even if there were lots of guests. We got a welcome slice of pizza when we entered. During every course at least once a waitress came to us and asked if anything is okay, how is the food, or refilled our water glass. They had a great sense of humour, too, overall it was a great experience. So I was quite suprised when I checked its fb page and saw many bad reviews. Probably there were some radical changes recently...

Ian is the best server around and great at suggesting menu items that we all loved!

Loved it. The staff was so great and attentive. The food was amazing. I can't get over how the staff was over the top friendly. I will be coming back many times.

Pasta Tuesdays are the best. I tried this place a few times when they first opened and was not impressed, but gave them another try a few months ago and got hooked. My fav is their smoked salmon pasta....YUM!!

I came here on Tuesday for their pasta special - $13 for pasta and $5 house wine. Great deal and the truffle spaghetti with meatballs is very filling and rich!<br/><br/>Had to wait 40 minutes for a table but we understood because we had no reservations and it's a Tuesday. Once seated, the food came very fast and service was still great.<br/><br/>More on my blog:

Time for round 2 of Dineout Vancouver 2019! A place that we had yet to visit was Trattoria Burnaby and from what I’ve been reading, they had a pretty good line-up of items so we decided to head there for dinner. Remember how I said that Trattoria Burnaby had a good line up of items? Well…as soon as we got settled…our server told us that they ran out of their brushetta appetizer, their prosciutto wrapped cod and their canolis! So in other words…they didn’t have half of their menu options available. Needless to say, it was a disappointment because we came because they had those 3 items.

We had a 4 course meal here, the appetizer was not to be very delighted about, but the main course and desert were exceptionally good. The ambience of the restaurant is more like fine dining and the food is not very high priced. Enjoy!

I’m glad that she made a reso because it is very busy on Trattoria Tuesdays, where all of their pastas are on sale for $13.00. We came early around 5:30, and there was already a line forming. If you’re coming on a Tuesday, making a reservation is a really good idea or you’ll have to wait.

One of the three Trattoria restaurants under the Glowbal Restaurant Group is located in Burnaby on Kingsway street in the same building with Element Vancouver and GoodLife Fitness, across from Crystal Mall. Trattoria Burnaby is know for their in house pasta, pizza, and a more casual family friendly atmosphere compared to sister restaurant Italian Kitchen.

Tuesday, My boyfriend, our friend and I had pasta for dinner at TRATTORIA Burnaby Location. We had an OK experience dining out there to eat something different.<br/><br/>Trattoria is an Italian restaurant. There are three locations in the Great Vancouver area, include Kitsilano, Park Royal, and Burnaby. We’ve been to the Burnaby location since it’s closer to our place. We arrived at the restaurant around 6 pm. It was super busy. I believe it’s because of the Pasta Tuesday. We had to wait for more than 30 mins to get into the restaurant. Trattoria has very great customer service team. The servers brought the small food samples to customers who are waiting outside to have a taste, which was awesome.<br/><br/>After waiting for about 45 mins, we finally got into the restaurant and had a seat. We began to order the food and server brought us cold ice water. The menu is very easy and simple. There are no many selections from this place. Pizza, Pasta, salad, and drinks. Since it’s Pasta day (all the kinds of pasta are around $12 and the regular prices are $24), we all ordered Pasta for dinner. My boyfriend had Truffled Spaghetti & Signature Meatball for $12 (regular price $24.95). Our friend and I ordered Crab & Lobster Ravioli (regular price $24.95). Besides that, we also ordered Sicilian Calamari and Bread to share. The regular prices of Cheese Bread and Garlic Bread were $7.50 each. Since it was still in the happy hours, the bread was $4.50. All the food were super expensive in this place.<br/><br/>About 10 ~ 15 mins waiting, our food came out of the kitchen. The first was Sicilian Calamari which made by Sicilian olives, capers, spicy tomato sauce. It was not in the large portion, but it was enough for three people to share as an appetizer. The Calamari was very fresh and soft. The taste was unique. We loved it. Later on, our Crab & Lobster Ravioli and bread were on the table. We were a little disappointed with them. There are only six pieces of Ravioli in the plate. We didn’t see any crab & lobster. We guess the crab & lobster meat are in the ravioli. The taste of the pasta was so-so, not that great. It was really not worth the price. Both Cheese Bread and Garlic Bread were the same. They were all in the super small slices and nothing excited. We could also make those bread at home. $7.50 and $4.50 were super over prices. Not worth. My boyfriend had Truffled Spaghetti & Signature Meatball (truffle cream and herbed ricotta) which was good and better than our dishes. We all believed that we paid the customer service and dining experience at this restaurant, not the food.

I was kindly invited by the General Manager of Trattoria to sample some of their new dishes earlier this month. I had the opportunity to try a variety of their classics as well as their new dishes. Trattoria Burnaby is located across from Crystal Mall in Burnaby. They have a medium sized patio for sunny days as well as spacious indoor seating for those rainy Vancouver days.

I recently visited Trattoria in Burnaby – they’re owned by the Glowbal Group and have a couple locations throughout Vancouver. It’s been a while since I’ve had pasta, so I was looking forward to this meal!. The space in Trattoria is nice – tall ceilings and we were placed inside a private room since we were there for a birthday party. They also have a small, but nice patio outside facing Kingsway.

Came here on "Tratt Tuesday" ($13 pastas). It was very busy but the servers were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend making reservations. They have $4 house wine, and starters for $4 in addition to the discounted pastas. Husband got the crab and lobster ravioli, it was excellently made and flavourful. I got the spaghetti and meatballs - meatballs were excellently spiced, and the pasta was cooked al dente. The sauce was clearly homemade, but it did have too many onions that weren't cooked as much as I'd like, and I got a half clove of garlic in my sauce. $55 for two of us for dinner - excellent price! Would return.

Trattoria is one of many of Glowbal group’s ventures.  The original location is in Vancouver but they’ve expanded to a second location in Burnaby for a few years now.  AngryRussian and I decided to go for their “Tratt Tuesday” which means any of their pastas for $13!

We, a party of 3, came here on a Tuesday evening around 8pm (for Tratt Tuesdays). It was quite busy still, and we put our name down on the waiting list for about a 30 minute wait. I'm not sure why, but there were visibly empty tables everywhere, including ones that have yet to be cleaned.<br/> We were finally called by the hostess so we all walked up to the front desk and then...nothing. Nobody led us to a table, the hostess/greeter had walked off. We waited there for 3 or 4 minutes and then the hostess calls out the next name on the waiting list for a party of 3. We spoke up then, and explained that we were called but have not been shown to our table! A waitress quickly seated us, and then we realized the table hasn't even been wiped down! We asked her to wipe it down and she agreed, but then just wandered off again. After another 5 minutes, a waiter comes by to tell us the specials and I had to interrupt him to please wipe down our table first! We order our food & drinks and then wait. He pours our wine and then it's a 40 minute wait for our pasta! By this time, because we wanted to enjoy our wine WITH our dinner, it is now no longer chilled! Not only that, they brought out food and came to our table with it, which we had not ordered. I said it's probably the table next to us, as they had even waited longer for their food! By the time we got our food, my paid parking was almost up. The waiter asked if there's anything else, and I tell him yes, my side dish is missing. At first, he's like it's coming right up and then he admits, he forgot to punch the order in! OMG! I said forget it. He offers us the fresh ground pepper and grated cheese. We say yes, proceeds to give us the pepper and then walks off...without coming back with the grated cheese!  <br/>Anyways, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. The food was decent, but everything else that happened really put a damper into our night. Won't be coming back to this location, seems like really poor management!

Went here as a group of 7, only waited like 3 mins for them to set up our table. Service was amazing from the start and continued being amazing. The waiter was very attentive and was on the ball with re filling drinks and looking after us. Starters were pretty good, but my main course (spaghetti and meatballs) was only alright. The spaghetti itself was kind of bland, but the meatballs were actually quite nice. A tiny bit spicy and easy to eat. Overall a pretty good experience and might return, if only for the excellent service.

Went there on their pasta Tuesday during dinner time so me and my friend had to wait for around 30 minutes. I just left my number so the hostess could call/message me when the table was ready. I did receive the text message around 30 mins later so we quickly went back to grab the table. We ordered the crostini trio and the smoked salmon radiatori. The crostini was just ok that I think it's overpriced for $16.99. As for the pasta, the smoked salmon was way too salty that we had to eat a lot of pasta to offset the salmon's saltyness.
CaptainNemo
I was here for brunch, so we didn't have a whole lot to eat.  They started us off with a small slice of banana bread to share.  We shared the Arugula & Watermelon Salad, which was pretty good.  I had the Sicilian Calamari which was one of the better ones that I have had.  There was room for dessert, so we ordered the Tiramisu, which I thought was pretty soggy for my liking, but I guess some people would like it.  We also shared the Zeppole al Cioccolato which was donut holes with chocolate drizzle and a dusting of powdered sugar.  I thought was pretty good as well.  Overall, the restaurant was pretty clean and the staff was very friendly, but I thought for the amount that I was getting, it was a little overpriced.
Mitch J
Not very impressive. It's an ok meal, friendly waiters, but we won't return. Good location, good drinks , but better to go elsewhere for your food.

Came here tonight for the first time around 8.<br/>Appies were yummy. We found the tomato sauce pastas needed more flavour like some fresh basil would have been nice, our friends really enjoyed the fusilli lunghi and the lasagna.<br/>Server and everyone we saw were really friendly and nice but we found the service to be very slow: waited quite awhile for drinks to arrive, no quality check on food, no one came to ask if we wanted more drinks and we did and waited a long time with empty drinks to flag someone down to order more, took awhile for the second round of drinks to arrive and then we had to flag someone down to ask about dessert(we brought our own cake), then it took a significant amount of time for them to cut it and bring it out, we sat for awhile afterward and it took awhile to get bills and pay. No idea why, it didn't seem that busy at that point.<br/>Overall, the food was okay and the service was good but Very very slow(I'm sure there must have been some good reasons as to why everything was so slow).<br/>Would I give this place a second chance sometime? Yes.

Went here on a Tuesday because apparently all pasta is $12 on Tuesday for lunch. It sounded like a good deal, so we headed over. Smoked salmon radiatori – $12, normally $18.95. I was skeptical of the quality because I see Trattoria as more of a chain restaurant, and I haven’t had any good experiences with their sister restaurant Italian Kitchen. However, this dish was amazing and all the flavours (especially the capers, dill, and smoked salmon) really paired well with each other.

Met up with P and S after class yesterday. Pasta Tuesday at Trattoria was conveniently located close to all of us, and we had the happy hour menu as ell as the $12 pizzas! Score. I had the fusili lunghi + meatballs on the side. We shared the Sicilian pizza, and P had the pasta with the short rib (next to the pizza). S had the one with the seafood and a meatball. Man, we eat a lot.

To put it in simpler terms, not worth the price at all! It tastes like something I can easily make at home. I ordered take out so not sure about the costumer service. I ordered the Linguine Camberi, spagettie and breaded chicken which all tasted mediocre.

• street parking only or take the sky train, get off at Metrotown and walk towards Kingsway & Willingdon <br/>• reserved for a table for a big group, it wasn't ready and had to wait for 30 mins!<br/>• poor service, I wasn't impressed waiting for over an hour to order 🙄<br/>• Food is tasty and actually good. I had the fettucine with cream sauce (proscuitto, scallions) Its not overpowering on heavy sauce, a bit too salty for me though<br/>• food is overpriced, of course its Glowbal group

I’ve spent many years eating pizza for breakfast but it’s usually just leftovers from the night before and not freshly baked pizza.<br/><br/>Well, that changed last August when we headed over to Trattoria Italian Kitchen for brunch.<br/><br/>First off, however, they brought over some complimentary Bread Pudding with Espresso Cream. I’m not a big fan of espresso but these weren’t bad because they were still moist.<br/><br/>The Trattoria Breakfast ($12.95) is a more traditional breakfast/brunch option and comes with 2 eggs any style (scrambled in this case), country style sausage, double smoked bacon, and roasted potatoes.<br/><br/>I opted for the Breakfast Pizza ($11.95) with roasted tomatoes, double smoked bacon, eggs, burrata, roasted scallions, and spinach béchamel. The pizza crust was super thin and got soggy after a while so it was a little difficult to eat without using a knife and fork. On the plus side… yolk porn!<br/><br/>If you’re tired of having day-old pizza for breakfast, head out to Trattoria. Check out our last post on this restaurant here.

I was here on pasta night. And had the most bland pasta experience. I had pasta with mussels in white wine sauce and couldn't taste much of anything in the dish. Mussels themselves had some flavor. The pasta didn't have much of any flavor. The pasta itself was slightly overcooked, not al dente. I believe I can make a better one at home. You are not missing anything by not coming here.

There aren’t too many late night spots around Burnaby. So looking for some decent eats with some tasty drinks we made our late night destination the new “Trattoria” in Burnaby. They closed at 12am, but the prospect of freshly baked late night pizza was one I could not pass up for a sports bars that would be open until 1am.

My go-to place whenever I crave pasta (which is not as often, but when I do, Trattoria is always the answer). Out of the 5 times I have visited here, I have experienced nothing but great service and the food is *two thumbs up*.<br/><br/>They have weekly specials like Pasta Tuesdays and Wine Wednesdays. This particular visit was on a Tuesday, and ofcourse, I had to get my favorite item among their pasta options: short rib parpadelle. The combination of mushrooms, tender pieces of short rib, and sundried tomatoes in a light cream sauce always hits the spot for me ... especially with a pop here and there of the crunchy pine nuts. We had ordered an appetizer of the beef carpaccio which was a first for me to ever order at any restaurant. It was a perfect combination of warm paper-thin slices of beef, mustard aioli that's just tangy and sweet enough, and fresh arugula on every bite. While enjoying our appy, we got served burrata and proscuitto on crostinis topped with olive oil and splash of balsamic vinegar (on the house!) .. probably because the friend I went with is a regular there on Tuesdays lol. Lastly, after deciding endlessly what to get for dessert, we had settled for a dessert platter of zeppoles and gelato/sorbet selection. Their zeppoles are a must to order! The gelato and sorbet flavors we got were raspberry, mango and vanilla. No complaints at all since I am an avid fan of mango anything, and the vanilla gelato tasted like frozen liqiud marshmellows - deff was a good pairing for the powdery sugar, chocolate centered mini Italian-style donuts.<br/><br/>Will always visit back! ❤

I came here before. This was not the first time. I had a gathering with some high school friends tonight. We picked this restaurant because of a good location for everyone. We used OpenTable to reserve a table online, so we made sure we could get a table tonight. <br/><br/>Tonight there was a pasta special. All pastas cost $12 only. We ordered six different dishes of pasta and Brussels sprouts for appetizers. All of the food tasted excellent! <br/><br/>The pricing was reasonable and acceptable. Only the customer service was not good. Probably the restaurant was too busy. Our server was busy walking around and taking care of so many tables and customers. Sometimes we needed more water or wanted something. We had to wait for a long time or do it by ourselves. <br/><br/>Overall, we had a good "eating" experience but the environment was too noisy that we could barely hear each other. We had to talk very loudly.

The popular Glowbal Group empire having finally set foot in Burnaby opening up their third location of its Trattoria brand right across from Metrotown. I’ve always had good experiences with their food and service at Glowbal’s other establishments, so expectations were quite high for this one!

My friends and my family made a reservation on Pizza night, which by the way took 6 weeks to book. Anyway, our server was unkempt. She was untidy and scraggly looking for a food server. It was our first time in Trattoria but went to Nosh before. We got served with French Macaroons that the server have no idea what flavor and seems ill informed of what they were selling, going back to dinner, our server that night asked us for the amount of serving we prefer for the pasta platter and when it arrived we were ok with the serving, there were 4 adults and a child that night and we asked for 2 orders of the pasta platter. She asked to make. It for 4 people and we agreed. Eventually we didnt understand each other and we got 4 servings which is so much more than we ordered. I blame us for not clearing that up but the inattention was unbelievable. Our wine got served like its water popped from a fountain and the waiter guy even said "I know that there is a way to serve wine but all I want now is just to place it on your wine glass which is the point, right?" That was absurd. Then our appetizer got served. We still dont havr our plates by this time. Our female server came and saw and said oh l will get your plates. Which she didnt. We ate our calamari with our forks like the barbarians we are! Horrific! Then came the pasta and now I asked for the plates. We cannot eat without them, dont you agree? The food taste good. But the servers are not trained. They were not fully booked at the time of our order. Well in fact that some servers are having a drink break at the bar while our seemingly-flustered female server forgets everything. Oh we did get the parmesan and the pepper everywhere. It is a shame that we are not coming back to this place. As per statistics 1 person that is unhappy technically spreads that info to 11 people minimum and it spreads further in that denomination. I hope the management does great math because this does not bode well for them.

Glowbal opened a new Trattoria near Metrotown, their menu is smaller than the Kitsilano location though. To start with we ordered the deep fried cheese, not bad but the food came out cold. For the mains, we ordered the truffled spaghetti and signature meatballs and the risotto. The risotto was very soupy, it was more of a stew than a risotto. Taste wise it was average, wouldn't recommend it. However, we do recommend the truffled spaghetti and signature meatballs, it is amazing! The ricotta cheese that comes with it makes the dish. The meatballs are very soft and tender, be aware that this is a very heavy dish, you will be full!<br/><br/>Service was slow, newer restaurant so we give them a pass, and the prices are fair given the portion size.

This is a nice little location ... well its definitely not little but its a nice place if you want some pasta or to have a great patio meal! I came for a late night dinner to get some pasta with some friends and was overall fairly impressed. The pasta was cooked perfectly and al dente and the sauce was not too overpowering. I did notice that their drinks lean a bit on the sweet side so it may not be good for you guys who don't have sweet tooths. Out of everything, I feel like the service outshined everything though.

Hmmm..!! Quite surprise they got such a low reviews here!<br/><br/>Let me share my experience now!<br/><br/>We went there on their Tratt Tuesday, which all pasta are $12. The portion is whatever, its discount day i am not expecting a huge portion. We got the signature meatball - so good, among the 3 pastas that we got i think it was the best one(well its signature, it gotta be really good lol) and then my bf got the braised Short Rib and it's really, really good!! The meat just melt in your mouth!! Perfectly cooked! And the last but not least - Linguine Gamberi...which I was quite disappointed coz the sauce is really, really sour. The fact that there were lots of olives in the tomato sauce, i only tasted sour most of the time. Let my friend try it she agreed too. It was probably the most sour pasta i had ever had.<br/><br/>But, maybe it's normal for italian food?? Maybe it's suppose to be sour like this??..<br/><br/>Service was okay, not bad too good.<br/><br/>Food came out really fast, was quite surprised!<br/>

I cant believe a new place as nice as this inside has some of the worst food and service burnaby has to offer...<br/>After getting seated at the bar, the waitress comes around 20 mins later asking if we were ready...<br/>I ordered the seafood cannelloni, at $22 a plate, u get 5 or 6 small pasta shells stuffed with seafood, swimming in a soup (not sauce) and topped with salad on top... The presentation made no sense, and having salad on top of hot pasta quickly wilted the greens... And i cant remember the last time i went to an Italian restaurant where they didn't bring any bread and butter out...<br/>My friend ordered the penne, which had to be returned as the pasta was undercooked... The waiter advises thats how its to be served... No waiter, we don't like chewy pasta...<br/>It was my first and last time going here...

Dropped by Trattoria Metrotown tonight for a snack with a friend. We were snooping around the neighbourhood for a not-too-busy place for her to have a drink, and finally settled on the patio here. Yes, it was cold out, but the overhead head lamps did an admirable job. I had eaten earlier, so I opted for just a snack. I had initially wanted the honeycomb dessert I had tried before, but I was told it was actually a sometimes-available item from their Nosh deli next door, and tonight they were all out. Our server Clarisse did offer to look in their fridge "just in case", but I sensed that was more an appeasement than any real hope of the dessert being available.

Late yesterday afternoon I went for an early dinner to Trattoria in Burnaby. I have been there before for a business meeting but I wanted to go with some family to sample more of the menu. <br/>Shortly after being seated, Jennifer, our server arrived and began to help us with the large menu.<br/>She willingly answered our endless questions with a smile and a "sure, we can do that!" attitude. <br/>We started with two antipasti plates to share at our table. Both of them were generous portions. We were more than impressed with the amount of food on each antipasti plate as well as the quality of the food.<br/>After our antipasti plates, we also had two side dishes. The roasted brussels sprouts plate was truly addictive. Some people may find the dish a little too smoky, but I simply loved it. The other side dish we had was the roasted root vegetables. They were also roasted to an exquisite softness and all the sweetness of the carrots and fingerling potatoes was perfectly done.<br/>We also ordered three pasta dishes. All of them were generous and more than filling but not overwhelmingly large. <br/>I had heard from other people that the kitchen had some issues with the timing of dishes. Yesterday I was very impressed with the way the kitchen was able to manage and get our variety of dishes to our table as we wanted them to arrive. <br/>Yes, we did order a lot of food. We did this intentionally though because we want to try so many pieces from their menu.<br/>To finish our meal we had the flourless chocolate torte. <br/>I only had a small taste of this dessert because my table mates dove into it and devoured it before I could get much of a taste of it. What I had did taste was wonderful.<br/>My daughter wanted a gelato. She couldn't decide between two of the fruit flavours and so Jennifer said no problem, and she brought us two small scoops of the mango and the blackberry. Both were extraordinarily good.<br/>I will definitely be returning to Trattoria in Burnaby. I was impressed with Jennifer, the server, the kitchen, and the entire staff who made us feel very welcome and were able to meet all of our dining needs so happily and cheerfully.<br/>I will return and have no hesitation in recommending trattoria in Burnaby.

I attended the Zomato x YVR Foodies event here. I'm a fan of Global restaurants, and Italian Kitchen is of my favourite places to eat downtown. I've never been to a Trattoria but my expectations were pretty high due to my love for Italian Kitchen. Unfortunately I was a bit let down...<br/><br/>We started the meal with appetizers, which included the famous meatballs, burrata, calamari, an assortment of meats and a small arugula salad. The appetizers were good and definitely on point based on what I've experienced previously at Italian Kitchen. The calamari was just a tad over seasoned but it balanced well with the arugula salad.<br/><br/>For mains, we got truffled spaghetti, spicy penne, served with a side of grilled veal and Glowbal's famous Brussel sprouts (SO GOOD). I was surprised at the portion size because this was to be shared between 5 people (our table of 10 got two of these platters). The truffled spaghetti was very good, with a good flavoring of truffle sauce, but just quite over seasoned again. The spicy penne was very very over seasoned, with the spicy flavour overpowering everything else. Lastly the grilled veal was very dry and overcooked, with just 3 small slices of veal to be shared with 5 people it was quite disappointing. My mouth was left feeling very thirsty after this main course.<br/><br/>For dessert, we were served a selection of desserts. Again I was surprised at the portion size to be shared with everyone (10 people at our table). The tiramisu was very good, not too sweet or heavy which was great after the heavy courses that preceded this. The doughnuts were really really good, definitely must tries! I was very happy with the quality of the desserts.<br/><br/>It was hard to evaluate service because of how big our group was, but several times we had to double back and ask our server for missing plates or utensils. We also had to ask for water several times. I get that we were a big group so this is understandable.<br/><br/>Overall I'm not sure I'd return to this location. I still like Italian Kitchen so I'll probably be going back there to eat my favourite Glowbal dishes without the extra seasoning.<br/><br/>P.S. Apologies for the dessert photos being out of focus. My camera was acting up and I couldn't get it to focus - had to snap some pictures before people started digging in so the quality of the photos aren't great.

Trattoria Italian Kitchen in Burnaby is right across from Crystal Mall inside Element Hotel. The Glowbal Group bakery Nosh also has a location in the lobby of the hotel. I’ve driven past before and it wasn’t obvious to me that it was a hotel though. I also noticed there was a new Dinesty next door!

Not much different than chinese restaurant on the service. Seat in for 10min, but no water, no menu, no server. It's 9:30pm, not a busy hour, still lots of server around, but none of them came to ask, even the manager. Typical Glowbal group service.
TheHappySloths
Sampled a selection of the appetizers and the calamari was definitely the star, so flavorful and juicy!<br/>The truffle spaghetti was quite heavy on the truffle flavor, which I love, although some may find it a bit too strong.<br/>The brussel sprouts were a bit too burnt for my liking but they had a nice flavor.<br/>Overall, the food is pretty good, I would advise to visit on Tuesdays though, when most pastas are only $12, which is much more reasonably priced compared to the original ~$20 price.

After mediocre experiences with the Glowbal Group (even the flagship Glowbal), I wasn't actually keen on going to the "Delicious Italian Extravaganza" put on by YVR Foodies, except that I was invited by Zomato to attend for free (otherwise $25). Also, every restaurant must have at least one decent thing, right? (And I honestly believe that).

We were attending a meeting in the area and thought happy hour would be something to look forward to after. We made the newest location of “Trattoria” in Burnaby our destination. Parking was a spiralling trip underground, without the ability to have its fee validated even if you were dining with them. An elevator ride up and a walk past “Nosh”, its neighbouring cafe in the same foyer, leads you to the entrance.

Short Rib Pappardelle - it's nothing special, this dish replaced the Lamb Sausage Pappardelle. The pasta was bland and unsatisfactory, the beef tasted like it was boiled then sautéed with the other ingredients, luckily we went on Tuesday which is $11 pasta night because I would not pay full price for this dish. <br/><br/>I have also updated a photo of the dish on my page 🙂

You don’t see radiatori on very many menus, so this was a delightful departure from the norm. I liked the textural element that this pasta brings to the dish. The capers, though not very visually apparent, dominated the flavor profile of each bite. The portion was decidedly on the small side too.
Alpaca Lunch
Our server didn’t seem particularly friendly or professional. The standard just wasn’t up to what you’d expect from this kind of restaurant. We were brought plates and cutlery that had grease marks on them, and we had to ask twice to be brought a spoon.<br/><br/>As for the food, we ordered a pear and gorgonzola salad and beef carpaccio for appetizers. Everything was served in a timely manner, but it was a little odd that our side of brussel sprouts were served first. Nevertheless, they tasted pretty good. The brussel sprouts ($7.95) were served with capers, chillies, parmigiano reggiano, and lemon. I like the slight char and crispiness on the surface of the brussel sprouts. The salty brininess of the capers were a nice accent.<br/><br/>I felt like the pear and gorgonzola salad ($11.95) should not have been named pear and gorgonzola salad. There were only a few slivers of pear and a tiny sprinkling of gorgonzola in the bed of arugula, radicchio  and beets. Everything tasted fresh. The flavours blended nicely if you could get all the components in one bite, but there wasn’t nearly enough pear or gorgonzola to balance.<br/><br/>The beef carpaccio ($13.95) was served with a sprinkling of arugula, pickled onions, grana padano, forno bread, and grainy mustard aioli. The thin slices of herb crusted beef was tender, and Baby-Paca agreed with me when I said the flavour was strangely reminiscent of the rare beef served in pho. The aioli didnt have much of a mustard taste, had we not read the description on the menu, we would’ve thought it was just plain mayo. There wasn’t enough arugula to go with the beef so Baby-Paca stole some off our plate of salad to wrap with the slices of beef. The pickled onions brought most of the flavour. I felt like the forno bread were thrown on top as an afterthought, just for decorational purposes. It didn’t add anything to the dish. It was stale, tasteless and dry.<br/><br/>For our entrees, we had to get the truffled spaghetti with signature meatballs ($22.95). It’s the dish everyone that’s eaten at Trattoria talks about. The meatballs were moist and had just enough red sauce. But while they say signature meatballs, I thought they were just alright. It’s the spaghetti that takes the prize. Baby-Paca and I loved the strong aroma of truffle in the truffle cream. However, it could’ve used more salt. Baby-Paca and I took the liberty to add more salt ourselves, and it was instantly better.<br/><br/>I totally fell in love with parpadelle ever since trying the seasonal short rib pasta at Fable last winter, and have been on the hunt for good parpadelle ever since. Unfortunately, this short rib parpadelle ($19.95) was a huge let down. The braised short rib was dry and bland, like the rest of the dish. The cafe au lait sauce severely lacked sodium. We really don’t like wasting food, but we didn’t even want to finish this plate, and we had already sent the lamb shank back to the kitchen.<br/><br/>The lamb shank ($23.95) was very dry and tasteless. It tasted like the meat used in soup that’s had all its moisture and flavour cooked out of it. The bianco risotto under the lamb shank was also no good. The rice had a strange gummy yet hard texture to it. Our server had dropped by a few times to ask us how the food was, I have to admit that i’m pretty picky, but I usually finish my food anyway even if I don’t like it, so I just reluctantly said “it’s good” a few times, not wanting to cause any trouble. However, the plate just sat at our table and nobody wanted to touch it. After much debate, we decided we’d tell the server that it actually wasn’t any good and she took it off the bill for us without any hassle. She asked us if we wanted to order a different dish instead, but after the 2 rather dissatisfying entrees, we just settled for dessert. We got the tiramisu ($8.95), and it was actually one of the better ones I’ve had. It was very moist and creamy, yet not too heavy.<br/><br/>The manager(?) Simon was very guest oriented and warm. He came over to ask us how everything was. Naturally, not very assertive at all and trying to be polite, I just said “good” and thanked him for asking, but my mom’s face had displeased written all over it. Simon left and came back to tell us that he got dessert as well as the lamb shank taken care for us since we didn’t have such an enjoyable experience. Apparently the parpadelle was a new addition to the menu, he said he’d be sure to give the kitchen our feedback. Simon apologized for all the mishaps today and as we were finishing up, I saw him whisper something to our server. As we were paying for the bill, our server brought us a

Visited Trattoria at lunch on a Thursday with a group of coworkers. The place was packed and I saw people waiting in line after 1pm. I shared a pasta platter with another coworker and the only thing that impressed me was the truffle linguine with meatballs. I wish I had ordered that one on its own instead. The gnocchi on the far back was mildly flavoured and very filling. The two in the front was a fail. Both were undercooked and the prawn linguine was too sour for my liking. For dessert I had the tiramisu and it was light and fluffy. My coworkers said the flourless chocolate cake was divine. I will be back for the truffle linguine on Tuesday.

What a sh#t show!!<br/><br/>We called 2 weeks in advance and they were booked for reservations, but were taking walk ins. When we got there we were quoted a time of 20 minutes. So obviously we decided to wait. That was at 6:15......we were seated at 7:10. We checked with the host numerous times and he kept saying we were next. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld.  <br/><br/>The service is severely lacking. Our waiter was great, however the rest of the staff was not. The host chewed out one of the servers right next to our table for leaving something in the wrong area. The bar was so jammed that we waited 15 minutes for our drinks from the time that we ordered them. I was really surprised by this as they had two private parties in that night, and would have thought that they would have added extra staff. The man working the pass (we were seated right by the kitchen) was such a diva with the servers. Rolling his eyes and yelling at the them. At one point he yelled at the kitchen staff for having too many dishes at the pass. How dare they get the food out in a timely manner! It was entertaining to say the least.<br/><br/>When our food did arrive it was average at best. I have had better Italian food cooked in Italian homes. The sauces were overly salty, and the pasta was either well under cooked or over cooked.  <br/><br/>I love the West 4th location of Trattoria, and most of the other Glowbal Group restaurants. I would suggest not judging their company on this location.

Bad experienced<br/>We were a group of 6 and made reservations at 7. We arrived at 7 and they were overbooked so we had to wait half an hour for a table. When we finally got to order, 2 of us ordered the same plate (smoked salmon raditori) while 2 others order another same two plate (linguini). My smoked salmon raditori came out overly dry and I had to ask for extra sauce. One of My frd's bacon linguini was overly dry and just all pasta. While the other frd's plate was all Bacon and sauce and a lot less linguini . Portioning was uneven. Arrival time of food was about 25 mins from ordering. Our server didn't come to check whether our water needed refilling and we had to call someone to refill the water after a long wait to see if anyone will come by to fill water.<br/>Staffing also seems to be inadequate as we were done our plates and waited a long time before one of the staff came by to pick up one plate??????? No idea why he didn't pick up another one along the way. We finally asked one of the other table server to grab our server for the bill. And get a plate packed. <br/><br/>Overall. Prepare to wait..and wait...and wait... <br/> Not worth it for what is suppose to be nice dining out . 1.5 is for the nice decor and interior of the place.

My 2nd time at this location and I find that the quality has gone down over time. The pasta was not al'Dente and the dish was not hot enough. Lukewarm the best. <br/>The appetizer of meatballs was just ok. Overall experience: blah!

I came here for lunch with a friend and I was really excited to try this place. We ordered the Pasta Platter, it was $20.95 each. The food came out in 6-8 mins, and was luke warm. the only thing that tasted good was the truffled spaghetti with meatballs and ricotta. Everything else tasted terrible. Would I go back? No.

Considering the fact this restaurant is suppose to be high end the service was terrible. The server treated the tables next to us with more attention making conversations with them and telling them the specials and what not. When it came to our tables, he didn't say anything just taking out orders and leaving. When asking how our food went I barely got a word in before he walked away. He was in charge of a total of four tables so being under staff wasn't the issue. As for the food, it was mediocre. My gnocchi and sausage was underdone as well as my date's food. Didn't get dessert because service was so terrible we just wanted to leave. I won't be making plans to go to any global restaurants as this isn't the first time at one of their restaurants I got terrible service.

Trattoria is considered as a high end restaurant comparing to White Spot, Boston Pizza and others. I did have higher expectations before I visited Trattoria. <br/><br/>The result is that Trattoria did not disappoint me :)<br/><br/>The restaurant located inside Element Hotel on Kingsway in Burnaby has an underground parking on P3. It is pay parking but it is only $2 per hour. It is cheaper than parking in Vancouver or downtown Vancouver. <br/><br/>The restaurant has a great service. Our server called Jennifer P. took great care of our table. She served us water and coffee to start with. She introduced us the specials of the day. We went there for brunch on the weekend, so we picked a dish of crab, lobster and prawn omelette, linguine carbonara and prosciutto pizza. Everything tasted great. <br/><br/>Pricing was about right. I would not consider expensive as Trattoria is kind of high end with great service. You pay for what you get. <br/><br/>I did not rate this restaurant five scores because of a couple minor things. If they did not miss these minor things, everything would be perfect. When I got to the table and I was going to put down my purse and sit down, there was a big piece of bread and crumbs on the seat. Obviously the server was careless who cleaned the table pushed the food onto the seats that he/she didn't see or know. Another minor thing was that I ordered a prosciutto pizza. The pizza was slices into four big pieces but the pizza was quite big. I had to use a (normal) knife to slice the pizza into eight pieces. I thought the restaurant only sliced the pizza into four pieces on purpose. I could have asked my server to bring the pizza back to the kitchen and slice it for me, but I did not bother doing so. The prosciutto di parma was hard to be cut. <br/><br/>I would love to visit Trattoria for dinner one day. It is good for a group of friends who can sit and chit chat for brunch, lunch or dinner.

Went here with couple girls for a drink. And wow, finally Burnaby has a lounge/pub place! The ambiance is good. They have 2 levels- lower one with a bar and tables for dining, upper level i think is for drinking mostly. They have quite a huge collection of wine. If you come here for dining, you have to try their spaghetti, very tasty!

It was a long shop of shopping at Metrotown.  Trattoria opened a new outlet in Metrotown, so my friend and I went to give it a try.  Cho always say it's good at the other outlets.  So, this time I am trying this place out at Burnaby.   We got a proscuitto pizza.  It was a pretty big pizza.  I don't know how other people can finish alone.  I shared it with my friend.

Ordered some daily special pizza for brunch. I didn't realize they served me the wrong one until I was tasting Mozzarella cheese, not the Asiago cheese. The waitress apologized and promptly got me the one I ordered. I was glad that she changed it for me since the first pizza I had was ridiculously salty that I couldn't take it at all. It was a simple tomato base ham & potato with mozzarella - but somehow very salty. The one I got was also salty - it had bacons, spinach, artichoke and Asiago cheese. Maybe the combination of bacons and Asiago cheese contributed this pizza too salty for my liking. I still liked the spinach that blended well with the rest of ingredients.<br/><br/>Oh I almost forgot to mention about their amazingly tasty bread pudding. The bread pudding was very soft and moist on the inside, and it was baked with lots of healthy nuts. I loved their housemate dipping sauce which was whipping cream mixed with dark chocolate chips, espresso and something else I can't remember right now. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, the combination of the two was amazing! I loved this complementary bread more than the main dish. <br/>Ambience 4.0/5.0<br/>Service 4.0/5.0<br/>Food: Somewhere between 2.5-3. Gotta try more to tell.

Staff was friendly but they were definitely understaffed. Our waiter didn't come by to fill our water till the end and he was always in such a rush. There was miscommunication between him and the hostess (who was also disoriented) and he thought we sat ourselves at his table. It took us about 20min to be seated when the hostess told us it would be 5 and the food took another about half an hour to come. They offered us cheese and pepper for our plates and we had wanted both but the lady forgot the pepper? My pasta was undercooked (flavor was good though!) and my Chicken Saltimbocca was overly salty. It was also cut in 3 pieces horizontally ? (I thought it was a weird way of serving the chicken rather than just having the whole breast). The best part of my meal the Tartufo e Funghi Pizza. The truffle flavor was rich and yummy! Probably won't come back and definitely won't recommend.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday. Staff were friendly and food was ok. Ordered some pizzas to share, not the best pizzas but maybe I just didn't order the good ones. Nothing amazing here, perhaps I will have to give it another try during dinner time.
Eating With Kirby
I never thought of going to Trattoria in Burnaby because it seemed like an odd location and I never knew it was part of the glowbal group. I came with coworkers and we all loved their pitchers of sangria! They had almost 10 different varieties. It wasn't boozy enough to get you drunk but tasted good and sweet. I got the Truffled Spaghetti and Meatballs and boy was it delicious. The portion was huge and I was able to eat it again for lunch the next day. Highly recommended!

Me and my cousins came in to try this place for dinner, sad to say with the exception of the interior, there was not much to boast about. Most of what we had was bland, We ordered one of the mozarella appies(Burrata and Prosciutto), Carbonara pasta, Siciliana pizza and the Lamb shank. It was only the Lamb shank that was decent enough to finish, other than that, the rest was all lacking in taste. However, Our server Jessica was awesome, sadly I can't rate anything positive beyond that.

I've been here twice for dinner now. First time was with my wife, we had the truffled spaghetti and meatballs, and a chicken saltimbocca.<br/><br/>Overall food was good service was good, but portions of the food was too small for its price. The greens are really nice and fresh, good nice and fresh ingredients. I'm thinking trattoria is positioning itself like Joey's based on price ingredients decor and atmosphere but joeys portions are much larger at joeys, at least enough to fill most adults. <br/><br/>Based on the portions and price I can only recommend going on the Tuesdays where pasta is sold at a discount.<br/><br/>The second visit was on a Tuesday I had a lasagna small as usual, but greens and tomatoes on it was nicely dressed and a nice touch. Wife had the carbonara, friends had a cavatappi chicken dish and lamb sausage pasta. Chicken dish was ok, sun dried tomatoes were very flavorful. Lamb pasta was average on terms of flavor and texture, carbonara was also average. Overall the pasta was on the overcooked side, but hey, pasta Tuesdays so I can't really complain, pasta probably partially precooked or all precooked.<br/><br/>Overall aside from pasta Tuesdays, over priced. Service was ok to my standards though as I don't have much expectations from service coming from eating at hk cafe all the time.

Went there for a friends birthday dinner and was impressed. Perhaps it's because I don't frequently get to eat Italian food, but I was defiantly not disappointed. Shared a Siciliana pizza, gnocchi and lamb pappardelle. Gnocchi stood out for me. The pizza and lamb pasta not weren't bad, but not as unique as the gnocchi. <br/><br/>For dessert we shared a dessert platter, loved everything except the cake that was placed with the macarons. We found the cake strange. Also got to try the flour less chocolate cake and fell in love! 💕 <br/><br/>Over all it is worth a visit.

This is out favorite British Columbia restaurant. It is fairly new but has come along fast. We went twice during our vacation. It has a great vibe and ambiance with terrific servers. Our server, Jennifer was friendly and professional. Our pizza maker, Giuseppe Cortinovis was the best. Watching him put together pizza after pizza was a treat, and no cover charge! The pizza was great. On the other visit I had the chopped salad with many ingredients. It was terrific. My wife had Linguini with olive all and parmesan. She rated it a nine. If you are in the Vancouver area you must go there.

Very disappointed. Bad customer service, bad dishes... We had a party of 8 people and 2 dishes came late and other dishes were on the table sitting and getting cold. 1 of us complained to the waitress, the waitress didn't apologize and kept talked back in a rude attitude. Very unacceptable. OMG.. When each of us has our own dishes, we found that meatballs, fish were overcooked in 2 dishes, and other 2 dishes have crab shell in the pasta. We complainted to another waitress that there were crab shell inside our pasta. Another unacceptable answer: "It's seafood of course there's shells." OMG... and this another waitress also didn't apologize as well and just walked away. Then an male supervisor/manager and asked 2 of us if we want to get a replacement for our Shell Pasta. We both gave it another try. My friend said that his 2nd dishes was tasteless. Another Fail. <br/><br/>The restaurant still dare to charge us 18% gratuity, didn't offer us any discount or free dessert to compensate our first unpleasant experience. <br/>We would not dine here again and would not recommend to friends.

Went with a party of 10 for a birthday. The appetizers, pasta and dessert were ok, neither of it made me want to come back, I would not dine here again. Overall atmosphere it was very loud and crowded and dark. However, their service was great and the staff were friendly.
Dreaming In Foie Gras
Nosh is located in the newly opened element by westin, and for some reason I can’t find a listing of this place anywhere so I’m guessing I’ll be the first to blog about this place. Nosh is under the global group (who also don’t list this place on their website) and global will be opening another nosh in the Telus garden this year. The area is very small but the food is pretty awesome with super low prices which means I’ll definitely become a regular here!

I was never an extreme fan of Italian food but I'm all for going outside of my comfort zone to try new things, and that includes food. Trattoria recently opened their third location in South Burnaby, conveniently in my area. Hearing all the rave about it, Tray, Addy, Tako and I planned to try it out together.  ---------- The Restaurant As I mentioned, this is the third location of Trattoria, with the other two being in Kitsilano and Park Royal. It's in the brand new Sovereign tower at the intersection of Kingsway and Willingdon, close to Crystal Mall/ Metrotown. Trattoria is a part of the Glowbal collection as well, with well-established restaurants such as Coast, Black + Blue, The Fish Shack, and more. Like the others, Trattoria also offer promotions throughout the week. This includes Family Night on Mondays, (free meal for kids under 8, man I wish I was 8 again.) Wine Wednesdays , (50% wine.. or maybe I wish I was legal.), Tratt Tuesdays ($11 pasta!) and Pizza Sunday ($10 pizzas). My friends were kind enough to bid me farewell to China (for spring break vacation, I'm back now!) on a Sunday adventure, although I'm sure they enjoyed their Pasta Tuesdays without me while I was gone. :P  When we went, they were still having their soft opening, but already, everyone was talking about it. Perhaps it's due to the fact that there isn't any other Italian restaurants around to compare to. The grand opening was the following Wednesday on the 11th.  Trattoria is casual Italian restaurant serving up all sorts of pizza, pastas and sharing platters. They have a stunning collection of wine on display, so I would say this is especially a great place for adults to hangout too.  The interior is posh and chic, and you can see the chefs in an open kitchen. There's a whole second floor too. I can imagine the place getting pretty noisy once it gets busier later on at night.  ---------- The Food Originally, we thought the $10 pizza deal on Pizza Sundays would apply to the on

This review is for the cafe beside Trattoria - that's affiliated with the Glowbal Group!! Nosh is a new cafe inside the Element Tower that just opened up this past year, beside Trattoria!! It’s right by the entrance of the tower, across from the street from Old Orchard plaza! We had the hardest time deciding what we wanted because everything looked so good hehe!! We eventually settled on the raspberry dome, and lemon meringue!! We also got to try some yummy samples they had on the counter! :D

My parents like to tell me that every time we go out to eat, I embarrass them LOL. My dad even said that they should have my picture posted on the wall with "BANNED" written on the bottom. Woah, that seems a little harsh, doesn't it? ;) According t my dad, here's a list of the things I do at restaurants that drive him completely mad...LOL. Taking forever to order. ( I don't know what I want, everything looks SO good!) Asking a lot of questions (How spicy is this?) Or changing my order at the last minute Making special requests (Can you put this on the side?) Asking for a glass of water Dropping my fork/chopsticks on the floor (Being the klutz that I am LOL) Using too many napkins...I'm a messy eater! ;) Eating too slowly (I like to savour my food, kay!) TAKING TOO MANY PICTURES (This is a big one! Buttt it's for my blog!!!) Hey, I can't help it alright? This kind of stuff is important! heheh. So tell me, do you guys do any of the embarrassing things I listed above? C'mon, fess up! ;)   Today's visit to Trattoria  was a case in pint haha. I ended up accidentally dropping my cutlery and napkin on the floor, twice LOL. Lately Ive been getting these rashes after consuming cheese (my body is so weird) so I've been trying to avoid cheese altogether :(   So I asked if I could order a pizza without cheese LOL...I know, how can it even be considered pizza then? The servers were super accommodating and agreed! I also ordered their cauliflower as a side dish, and the server said that they would omit the cheese, but when it arrived, there was cheese! They were quick to replace it though and were super nice about it! Props to you Trattoria staff! :) Portobello mushrooms, truffle honey, tapenade, asiago, argula $15.95 2.5/5 stars   This wasn't as good as I was hoping, but it was still pretty decent! You could definitely smell the truffle, but you can't actually taste it because the flavour is overwhelmed by the tapenade and mushrooms. The mushrooms were nice and smokey though,

Most of the menu here, as expected, is centered around various pastas and pizzas. My dining compatriot and I started with the Burrata & Prosciutto which is served with a pleasantly toothsome forno toast. The burrata, an Italian soft cheese made with mozzarella and cream, is paired with thinly sliced prosciutto di parma and accompanied with a pesto dipping sauce. <br/><br/>I also tried their Trattoria Lemonade (passion fruit) but found that it lacked any passion fruit flavour.

Service needs work. Expected better from the well-known Trattoria. Our pastas, appeys and desserts were good overall. The service needed some work. My appey came out at the same time as the mains. One member of our group asked for simple steamed salmon and veggies with nothing on it (no seasonings or oil). They managed to pan fry it in oil and try to pass it off for steamed salmon. Then they sent out chicken breast which also appeared to be pan fried not steamed and green beans that looked very unappetizing. The chef came out and stated that she was not made aware of the no seasoning/oil request. Not impressed.

Eww! Bottom line. This place is glowbal owned??? Omg...young nervous servers and Salty like every other review emphasizes...dissappointing .Was happy to hear Burnaby was getting a good food establishment...No way ..stick to Earls I guess:)...

Decent but only for $11 Pasta Tuesdays. Tried the spaghetti and meatballs. The flavor is pretty good but the texture of the meatball is too finely ground. It almost had a mulchy texture and I personally prefer my meatballs to be a bit chunkier with more texture.<br/><br/>The service is decent but I had the impression that they were understaffed. The staff seemed to be in quite a rush. We sat in the upper level and during that same meal, two different servers spilled something on the floor.

Bland and far too salty. Disapointed... Second time I go for a work lunch. Far too pricy for such blah dishes. I hate to be so negative, but the menu is restrictice and not representative of a lunch menu (for lunch time of course). The service was alright, but disorganized. The dishes were far too salty but lacked flavor. My mushroom penne did not taste mushroomy at all... It was just heavy cream and bacon pretty much. Even the pancetta didn't taste like pancetta... I am sorry but this "high-end" style resto is a total flop. Never going again... 40minutes later and I still feel gross...

Good Service, Mediocre food. I was excited to try this new place today, however, I was quickly disappointed by bland food.<br/><br/>Don't get me wrong, the service was great and friendly staff are always eager to help as much as they can.<br/><br/>However, when I tasted their pastas, I felt like like I was eating pasta coming straight out of a can.<br/><br/>I came in with a group of people, tasted several samples of their pasta in hope that I was wrong, but I wasn't the only one in the group that felt that way.<br/><br/>I believe the chef needs to work on a new menu asap, and a add higher quality pasta with better presentation.

Needs Help. We went there a couple of nights ago, and sat at the bar where usually my husband prefers to sit. However, this isn't your typical bar. There is no "bar service" to speak of; it's just where you can sit to watch the chef prepare food. Fair enough. However, the service was not good; very slow, the place wasn't that busy, and because we were sitting at the bar with no bar service, the wait staff have to reach behind you to serve you everything, which is a bit annoying. Lesson learned... Don't sit at the bar expecting to get "real" bar service. We also found ourselves asking, "Where did our server go?"<br/><br/>We ordered antipasto, and it was very nice; fresh and made right in front of us. When we did get our main meals, my husband's pasta with meatballs was OK. My gnocchi was floating in oil. Granted it had fennel sausage in it, but I've had similar dishes before and the pasta wasn't swimming in greasy sausage. The menu also says (as the first ingredient) that the dish is in a tomato cream, but when I inquired about the "missing cream", we were told that the dish is actually finished off with cream. So, why is it listed as a first ingredient on the menu? I expected a creamy tomato dish based on the menu.<br/><br/>Don't let the name mistake you; it's not Italian Kitchen like on Alberni downtown. We might give it another try, but will definitely wait until they get the wrinkles ironed out. They need to work on better service, better food, and take another look at how they are describing their menu items.

Poor service. Well let's see here. We ordered the truffle spag which was really good, but then the server made a dumb comment on how she ate it before going to the gym and felt like puking. That doesn't make my food so appetizing. She made the assumption my boyfriend was my brother when I went to join him.<br/><br/>The manager was yelling at another manager who told him not to yell at her and then pulled her aside. He seems a little rough around the edges.

Amazing. Such a great experience. Loved the food and it was a good atmosphere

I've now been to all three locations of trattoria and the food quality is consistent throughout. The service in this burnaby location was outstanding. We never had to ask for a water refill or for our plates to be changed in between courses. They were very attentive to all of our needs and the food came so quickly! We ordered the truffled spaghetti and meatballs which was delicious as usual as well as a pizza. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a casual Italian restaurant that won't damage your wallet.

Not so impressive. The food was quite good. I had the calamari and pizza, which were all very tasty. But that's probably the only thing I liked about the whole dining experience. First, you have to pay for parking ($2/hour) and the restaurant doesn't reimburse it. As I was telling the hosts I was waiting for my friends, the two of them started joking with each other while talking to me, which I didn't appreciate. And then the dishes were dirty, the waitress was swamped, no one asked if we want anything to drink, and it took forever to pay... that was enough to see the restaurant is not properly managed. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Cactus Club and Earl's are just literally steps away, you will definitely find better experience there.

Definitely not worth it. I recommend you do not bother to make the effort of going to Trattoria. The pizza was bland and soggy in the middle and my friends meal looked unappetizing. This wasn't that surprising since the whole menu was uninviting. They seemed to be overstaffed with every aspect of our experience involving a different person meaning we were waiting forever to be seated, order, get our food, be checked up on, get the bill and pay. None of it was easy or enjoyable. Terrible idea to go there and I hope I never make the foolish mistake of going there again.

Should Have Went To Cactus. I am not sure if they are understaffed or what. <br/><br/>Waited far too long for drinks, and the wait times are a disgrace. If you have all the time in the world, sure, Trattoria in Burnaby might be the option for you.<br/><br/>My money walks, there's a large variety of restaurants that have better service. <br/><br/>They might figure it out in due time as they just opened. But for an established Glowbal group, I am not sure if they can use that excuse.
Neveragain
Never again for this location. Had resovations at 8pm. Was seated 45 minutes after and the restaurant wasn't even full. Looked like there was lack of staff as everything took a lengthy time. Food took 45 minutes to arrive. Portion's are small, food is average. Took another half hour for the bill to arrive. Will definitely not come back.

Tiramisu. Delicious

Terrible service. There was a party of 9 of us with a reservation and the manager gave us a table for 6. We were not impressed and a few from our party almost fainted (we had an elderly woman, children and a diabetic with our group). I understand that they just opened but the lack of communication between their staff and their customers will definitely NOT help keep them opened.<br/><br/>I cannot comment on food since our party refused such a small table that won't seat all of us. Oh, and also the manager tried to convince us that 9 of us will fit around the table and said that they've seated 8 people there before.

I dined on my own at the bar. Serving staff was still attentive and made great recommendations. Lucked out on half priced wine on Wednesday and enjoyed a Prociutto pizza and the chocolate torte. Everything was beautiful as it was delicious. These guys are punching above their weight!!<br/>
