Review The Crabapple Cafe - Brackendale

Stopped by here to grab a quick bite before the start of a hike. Excellent coffee drinks and the food also didn’t disappoint. Our breakfast bagel was hot, fresh, and packed with flavors from egg-bacon-cheese.

Ran into the owner, Adrian by chance today and, had to introduce myself. Especially because he was wearing a Sasquatch sweater. Hell yeah. Ok - I’ve been coming here for years anytime I’m in Squamish. It’s my favorite spot. I recommend getting the Black Bean Rice Bowl with dirty sour cream & a matcha latte made with oat milk. A peanut butter bar or Zephyr cookie to go is also a pro-move. Come here, you won’t be disappointed.

Healthy food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, will be back, definitely! It’s a nice spot to have a meal or sip a cup of coffee ☕️🥗🥣when I travel from Vancouver to Whistler ,Pamberton, or Joffre Lake.

Frequented this place a few times and will always lock in one of their Zephyr Cookies anytime I have a hike on the cards, or looking for a healthy bite to eat. Only thing pulling it back on the 5 stars is the espresso coffee - just seems to vary depending on whose on the machine. But if you're not an espresso fiend, and rate the drip coffee life, then this may well be your spot!

There are so many cafés in Squamish and this one stands out as it gave me some old school vibes. Mismatched furniture, dated interior design, kind of matches the overall vibe in Squamish (nothing fancy, everyone’s chill). I came here for breakfast and the line was short. I ordered a soup and a lavender latte, my husband ordered a chicken wrap. Everything tasted great but the wait for food was long, around 20 minutes or so. The cutest thing was we were given an action figure after we placed our order. It’s used as a “placeholder” so, when the wait staff brings out our food, they would know which table to go to. Loved this idea! Very original and it made my day.

I always visit this cafe when I roll through Squamish! They have a large menu of healthy food and a funky setting. I always enjoy my meal and drink!

Jacquie and I really enjoy frequenting the Zephyr Cafe. Excellent coffees, in many varieties, healthy energy treats well suited for a long hike, climb or bike ride. Great quinoa bowls that will have you licking the bowl clean. The breakfast burrito is especially tasty, loaded with rice chickpeas, black beans, egg, spinach and cheese. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Sit outside and take in the view of Echo Falls and surrounding mountains. During cooler days the fireplace creates lots of heat and draws in those who enjoy a good book or one of the many card and board games. It can can become rather warm on occasion when it stays on a little too long but that's more reason to get active and breathe in the Squamish air. Very eclectic decor and a little quirky in a good way. We enjoy stopping there during our evening walks as it remains open later than most coffee shops. They also serve beer. Parking nearby. An excellent coffee shop that I highly recommend! Cheers

Such a lovely little spot for locals and tourists to connect and socialize. Food is very tasty and the Baristas know what they're doing.

I stopped for Brunch on Sunday with my dad. Yay! breakfast is served until 3 pm every day. The eggs benny was delicious (best hollandaise in Squamish for sure) and the organic eggs were amazing. My dad had the regular size Pastrami hash with two poached eggs and we have never seen such a beautiful mixture of veggies! My only dislike was the hasbrowns. They were typical restaurant fare, square pieces of deep fried potato that were very dry but no matter since I never eat many of them anyways. I will be coming back soon and I highly recommend this place! Our waitress was great too!

found this little gem yesterday as we were exploring the area. They were slammed when we arrived and the waitress said the wait for food would be abit. Neverless we stayed and am glad we did. The food was amazing. And while both waitresses were really busy, we got everything we needed quickly and with a friendly attitude. I am not normally a "breakfast" kinda girl, but the smoked salmon bennies were amazing. Everything was so fresh and well presented. We will be back. Its worth the drive from Vancouver

We have been going here for a few years now and it never disappoints. Their breakfasts are awesome and it is now a tradition for us to go there for breakfast when we are in Squamish visiting my son, daughter in law and granddaughter. Highly recommend the pastrami hash!

We've been frequent visitors to Squamish for over 10 years but had no idea that this little gem of a restaurant even existed... it's nestled off the beaten path, but worth searching for. My wife, 2 daughters and I has a wonderful dinner consisting of a variety of appies, mains and of course a little dessert. (BTW they are paleo friendly too!) The ambiance was wonderfully homie and warm, and the proverbial 'cherry on top' was a live muscian playing some lovely tunes throughout the evening. Dinner was fantastic, but we checked out the breakfast menu too... we have to go back now! lol If you find yourself in Squamish, take the little extra time to find Crabapple Cafe. You won't regret it. Happy dining! Dai "Coach Moose" Manuel #exploreBC #exploreSquamish

I went with my daughter to The Crabapple Cafe for a late Mother's Day lunch. This was our first time here and we were delighted to see the variety on the menu. We were each pleased with our breakfast choices and also enjoyed our London Fog tea. I highly recommend The Crabapple Cafe for its food and excellent service!
More Food Please
This restaurant makes me sad. I can walk to it, backwards and blindfolded from my house it's so close, so I want it to be good. Went to dinner there twice and both were slightly disastrous. I didn't think you could over cook fish that badly, so I learned something. I hear they make good breakfasts, but I'm too scared to try again! The staff are lovely though, coupled with the aforementioned proximity, gave it the 2/5.

Must stop by this place, a bit of a whole in the wall, but wow the food is fantastic. I had the Chicken Club burger with the soup of the day(Indian Dal) and it was a lot of food. The chicken was tender, the bun was soft and the ingredients inside fresh and tasty. The best chicken burger I've ever had. The soup was in a large bowl, tasty. I've never tried Indian Dal Soup before and it was fantastic, lentil, chick peas and cauliflower and flavour. My husband had the 1/3lb. Beef Burger and fries and said it was amazing and he liked the fresh/cold veggies inside. The root beer was authentic and you could taste the vanilla and my Earl Grey tea was loose leaf and delicious. The price was right on with what other places charge and I think I got more food than some comparable places. There is plenty of parking. Most of the staff was very friendly, our waitress could have been a little friendlier and more attentive, but the food was so fantastic and most of the staff was great, that it wouldn't stop me from coming back or recommending this place to family and friends.

Rough night. I want to support this place and i love it as a breakfast joint but dinner on Saturday night was a bit of a disaster. hard to find anything i wanted on the menu, no dinner special that night, ran out of some menu items they did have, and the service was pretty shitty (mistakes happen but 2-3 mistakes in row is hard to overlook).
You guys just need to step it up, just because it's Squamish doesn't mean you get away with delivering a half-ass experience.
i'll be back for breakfast but no more dinners.

The two of us came here for lunch on a weekday at the end of September.

We had curried chickpea soup (gluten and dairy free)(7$ for large portion) Chiefs salad (11$) and thai red curry ("crazy" spicy) (16$). All 3 meals were huge portions, I wanted soup and salad with my boyfriend having a taste and I had to pack the salad to go. Everything tasted super fresh and came to our table relatively quickly. The Thai lunch was amazing but wasn't very spicy for it being their spiciest option. Their soup-of-the-day was very hearty, filled with veggies. The bread that came on the side was so fresh, toasted buttered loaf.

For the menu, there were plenty of options for breakfast lunch and dinner, with a extensive coffee selection. Breakfast is even served until 3 and the plates looked delicious on our neighbours table.

Our server was attentive in a timely manner but wasn't hovering. The music had all the 90's hits which was a fun throwback. It was a bright restaurant with cozy/trendy decor. They even had a patio with heaters.

Go here! You'll be happy you did.
Soooooo good! This place is such a hidden gem. On our way back to Vancouver we managed to find this place while we were in search of brunch. This quaint, cozy and funky restaurant has delicious food. The pictures are NOT misleading! The atmosphere lovely and the service is okay. Highly recommend.

Before we headed back to Vancouver, we decided to grab brunch at Crabapple Cafe because no weekend trip is complete without stopping for brunch!. I got the usual ($10.50) which came with potato hash, a slice of toast, 2 eggs prepared your way and smoked salmon. It was actually supposed to come with ham or sauasage but I asked if I could substitute it and my waitress happily ablidged to my request

Pho. Wonderful light broth with cilantro, mint, fresh chillis, rice noodles and crisp veggies...
I Like Food
Great food, great atmosphere. I love this restaurant. I live in Squamish, and it is my favourite place to go for date night - cozy, casual, real and I am always happy with my meal. The food has always been awesome (especially love the beef bourguignon stew with a glass of red wine!). And the toffee desert is ridiculous, so yummy. I hope they do well so I can keep going to my favourite restaurant, (but not too well because it still feels like a local secret!)

Finally, a nice piece of Cod. The Crabapple Cafe have now found a new source for cod.

I had the Alaskan Cod today. The texture and taste of the fish was really good. Much better than the mushy fish, they were previously supplied with.

The owner's and staff continue to work hard to improve the quality of their product at a reasonable price.

A new revised menu is in the works as we transition into the spring season and warmer weather.

Great Food & Great Staff. Monday lunch and we sat and watched the restaurant fill up in an instant...from a few tables to max capacity. Sure people had to wait a little for service but the server, although she seemed a little stressed (and I don't blame her), kept it together and carried on. People kept coming in and we watched as they were turned away. Kudos to the owner for seeing that she couldn't handle anymore instead of making $$$$ a priority. Next thing we knew, the owner was up on the floor and then we watched as the guys in the kitchen helped clear the tables when the masses left!!!

Amazing teamwork and great food. We shall be back

Overrated. Went here on a recommendation and and from the good reviews on urbanspoon.

Food is overhyped and is just average. Service is a bit slow although friendly. Had to wait a while to get my check. Not a good place for a quick bite if you are wanting to head to Whistler for a ski as it can take a while.

Soup. Vegetable herb - flavor worth savoring mmmmm good

-----22 Mar, 2015-----

The Best. This was by far the best soup I have had in years! I would have expected these flavors from a fine dining restaurant. Such a nice finish to our 4 lakes hike. Atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and the waitress was beyond impeccable in her service skills. Kudos Kate.
Friends shared a burger which they both said was amazing.
I highly recommend eating here whether you are a local or visiting from out of town. Be sure to stop in .

-----22 Mar, 2015-----

Delicious Food. Vegetable soup was something you would expect from a world class restaurant. Atmosphere was cozy and the service was impeccable.
The best choice after a hike through 4 lakes. Highly recommend this cozy cafe to locals and visitors alike.
2 thumbs up.

New management, and a pleasure to get acquainted .. As I usually do when I am in Squamish, I stop in the area for coffee or breakfast. To my surprise, the old familiar place was under new management; what a difference ! The food, the staff, service! A pleasure to be there..very classy indeed !!

I will return to the Crabapple Café whenever I have the occasion to do so!

See you soon,

Christian

Good vegetarian andvegan options. We stopped by on the way from whistler to vancouver. The sevice was quick and friendly. There were a few families and the menu offers child portions for half price..I gather all items. We ordered vegan burgers and they were okay... beans quinoa burger with fresh tomato and avocado. The yam fries were stellar. Super hot and perfect. The coffee is very good. There were several good.looking vegan salads and other vegetarian options on the menu. I recommend this cafe...also the all day breakfast look good...no vegan options tho...maybe offer some scrambled tofu? Tou can get a good vegan miso gravy and hollandaise sauce recipe from the internet.

Lunch at the crabapple. We stopped in for a quick bite driving to Vancouver from Whistler.
We liked the waitress. She was quick and polite.
My wife, the tea drinker, said the tea was excellent.
I had a cup of very reasonable brewed coffee.
We each had an all day breakfast feature. It was good and fast.
Though we both weren't fond of the deep fried potatoe nuggets with the breakfast meals. Grilled shredded potatoes or authentic pan fries would be much more appropriate.
The new owners are finding there way.
Apparently there are many new upgrades on the way.
We're told an espresso machine is coming and interior renovations are planned for some time this winter.
They appear to have turned the corner with some of the staff challenges we had heard from others who had stopped in previous to our visit.
We would definitely stop back again.

Great experience. We had our staff Christmas party this year at The Crab-apple Cafe and I have to say the experience was excellent, the staff was very friendly and right on top of everything. They made did everything they could to make our night memorable. The food was amazing and not one person left hungry. I have to say we will be coming back for our party next year. So guy please keep our date saved for next year will be in touch.

Jay McKinney
Operations Manager
Baos Mechanical

Stopped in for lunch, such a cozy, friendly spot. Fish and chips were delicious! Looking forward to trying something on the dinner menu, great mix of home cooking favs and healthy vegan dishes. Recommend a visit! Enjoy!

Great dinner!. Best homemade soup I've had in ages. Amazing mix of fresh ingredients and spices. All their soups are vegan which is a really nice feature. My veggie burger was amazing with a salad. Nice menu and a great atmosphere!

A lovely cup of tea :). I only had time to drop in for a pot of peppermint tea but it was a lovely refreshing little pot at that! I experienced friendly and welcoming customer service and will definitely be back soon for a full meal!

Epicurean delight at the crabapple cafe..!!. Pleasantly surprised to find this little restaurant bustling last Friday night. Warm inviting atmosphere, the place is intimate and offers a varied and different menu. Food was great....I had the Beef Bourgignonne and my companion had the salmon wellington. Great staff and service, I was informed that the new owners have big plans to renovate the existing décor while hopefully keeping the ambient feel. This is a real gem people......check it out....!!

Great red Thai curry and lovey warm atmosphere. I had the chance to revisit this cafe during a business trip and I'll be back again. It seems it's under new management and what a difference. The menu has been updated and now caters much better to vegetarians and vegans (myself being the latter) but not in a pretentious way - it just gives the options.

I had the red Thai curry with tofu; absolutely delicious and found the place to be very warm and inviting. i could only recommend this place!

Very delighted. I now stop by once a week, quite enjoyable and a job well done.

Great Value for Money. We had an awesome meal here, and staff were really friendly. I had the chicken club and my friend had the curry which were both great and great value for money. We'll be coming here again soon.

Well we walked in, no indication if we should seat ourselves or try and find someone to seat us. A rude waitress told us anywhere. I ordered the pastrami hash and my sister the BLT Bennie. I asked for no peppers in my hash. We get our food and my hash is LOADED with jalapeños and onions, might I add no where on the menu did it mention those two ingredients. My sisters BLT Bennie didn't have bacon. We asked the waitress to come over and she blamed the cook for the no bacon and went and got a plate of two pieces of bacon and placed it beside my sister. With a not so sincere apology. As my sister remade her BLT Bennie and proceeded to cut it, her fork was bending. At this point we were so disappointed we asked the waitress over again. Explained about the fork and the massive amount of jalapeños that I tried to over look. She rudely stated, well clearly you're not happy. Grabbed our plates. We said we were going to leave and she did not say a thing. I must say I miss the red bench that used to be here. Oh and the hash browns tasted like oil and weren't fully cooked.

No Benny, no hash browns, no English muffins??? You serve Breakfast?. Food took 40 minitus to get after ordering. The French fries they substituted for the hash browns were cold. One of the four of us got our food after the other three had finished. Only thing going for this place is the coffee is better. These people are going to kill this place, it's too bad. It has a 0% chance of succeeding.

Nice try!! I guess someone.... Nice try!!
I guess someone is having fun using my name on this website, I am the proud former owner of this establishment and the current and founding owner of pepe and gringos. I don't review restaurants, but I enjoy a good joke, seeing my name used here to praise the crabapple and thumbs down to pepe & gringos is hilarious!!! Thanks for the laugh whoever posted that!!! As always I wish the new owners all the best.
And just a tip to whoever wrote the fake positive reviews, maybe wait longer than 15 minutes between them to post. All the best, Ingo

Much cleaner and brighter!. Love this iconic spot in sunny Brackendale! Menu has been revamped to offer much healthier cuisine and you can still find some old favorites on the menu with a fresh twist. We will definitely be back!

Poor service and a long wait. Went on a quite Sunday morning. Lots of staff working and service was slower than dial up. 40 min wait for food. And customer service was poor.

Wish it was still the red bench always good and fairly quick before being rebranded.
Happydiner
Formerly Red Bench Diner. I'd 100% suggest this place if you want to wait 90 minutes for subpar food and horrible customer service.
