I use to frequent Paulo's quite a bit when I lived in Belleville years ago; now that I'm back in the area I've been here twice in the last two months. Both times the food has been excellent.

On 26 May my wife and I had a late lunch which would be her last meal before heading to the most northerly settlement in the world for another three months.

We both ordered from the daily specials. She had a pizza with I think it was a garden salad with raspberry vinaigrette while I had the cannelloni stuffed with a whole list of things and a Caesar salad. We also had a half litre of house red.

Now I don't mind paying $70 plus dollars for a nice lunch. The food I thought was really good and the building's ambiance is fantastic. It doesn't rate a 5 star simply because of the service. A smile would go a long way. Coming back shortly after serving the people who are going to tip you and asking if everything is alright vice waiting until you're half finished goes a long way in my books. I asked for an extra bun, while I did get it, I also got a frown when I asked for it.

At $70 plus dollars for two cannelloni and a half plate of salad you would think the bun tray would never run out. Perhaps that's just me though.

All in all we did have a good meal and enjoyed our time together there. I would recommend Paulo's in a heart beat, if not for the service but everything else.

Every time I have been to Paulos I have had exceptional service and beyond great food! As a valued customer to Paul Dinkel, I will say he has quite the operation. Every item on his menu is made a la minute and with fresh ingredients! Enjoy!
