The BBQ chicken nachos were amazing! Lots of beers to try. The garlic bread was delicious. Made in house chicken tenders were buttery and crispy. Service was great! Would definitely return!
I used to really like Jack Astors, but the last two times I've been there the music has been so loud that I couldn't carry a conversation with the people with me without straining to hear and almost yelling. It's possible these two experiences were on bad stereo days, but it's enough for me to not bother returning (fool me once, shame kn you; fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times... well, it won't happen :P )
Food: I do like the food here. Good portions, great selection, lots of flavour. Always fine something I'm interested in and never left hungry.
Service: This is hit or miss, as are most places. I've had amazing service and also subpar. The last two times weren't great, specifically because our requests for the music to be turned down weren't addressed.
Price: I find other chains like this one are cheaper, but nothing unreasonable. And, as stated before, the portions are large so it works out there :)
Summary: It's not a bad restaurant, but I tend to go out to eat to enjoy the company of those I am with, so I will not be returning just to have a third outing where I can't hear the person beside me. There are enough other choices in Barrie to try. Recommended for food only.
The food quality at Jack Astors is ways good .. Especially for a chain. Service is attentive and the atmosphere is very casual. The biggest issue is the noise level - very noisy restaurant. If you can eat on the patio, it might be a little more easy on the ears.
My family loves the Bruschetta appetizer, original butter-sauced wings, hand breaded chicken fingers and the pasta. Last time we even tried one of the new poutines - Polish poutine, complete with pierogies in the middle! All of it great. Never disappointed at Jack's.
