60´s atmosphere, basic breakfast with great milkshakes for a very decent price worthy to make you come back weekly. Given that most breakfast places serve traditional breakfast, this is where I would come.
Enjoyed our time here. Food was great, it's not a five star restaurant people, it's a diner. But it wasn't awful. Service was lovely and it was cool to sit and check out the decor and watch the retro movie beside you (Aladdin was playing when we went haha). Would return.
Great for breakfast, so-so lunch and dinner. I have mostly glowing things to say about Flashback. They nail the retro diner vibe, service has been fast and friendly every time I've stopped in, and it seems like the kind of place where regulars are greeted by name and offered "the usual". It's hard to go wrong with their breakfast menu, it's simple comfort food done right. It's the lunch and dinner options that let the experience down a bit. Their cheeseburger is the greasiest I've ever tasted, and that's saying something coming from a native St. Louisan. A lot of their non-breakfast offerings -- especially the veggies -- only capture the 50s vibe by tasting suspiciously like TV dinners.
If you're looking for the perfect place to get your morning started, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Flashback. If you're looking for lunch or dinner... ehh... it's good they serve all-day breakfast.

Big ol' Flashbreakfast. Flashback Diner's sign out front brags that they have the "Best Breakfast in Barrie" and I cannot dispute that. After a fruitless ramble up and down a stretch of Bayfield looking for someplace (aside from Tim's) that served espresso-based coffee -- c'mon, Barrie, it's not 1973 -- learn how to make cappucionos! -- I stopped at Flashbacks because it's not a franchise operation like almost everything else on that street. I'm glad I did.
If you like 1950s American memorabilia, this is the place for you, because every bit of the walls is packed with old (repro) photos and signs. I'm more Iggy Pop than Elvis Presley, so it didn't do much for me. The food sure did, though. I went with the basic breakfast, which for $6.99 included three eggs, four or five pieces of really crisp bacon, a pile of perfectly cooked home fry cubes (they tasted like they were coated with whatever substance is used to give the outer edge some extra crunch) and two thick slices of marble rye bread. It wasn't fancy -- it's a diner, eh? who expects fancy? -- but it was made fast and correctly, for less money than you'd spend at most joints.
As for the service, I had no problems. The waitresses there were mostly tattooed punk-rock-looking chicks, but I smiled at them, said some friendly patter and they kept my (brewed, unfortunately) coffee cup filled just find. You people who complain about bad service? Contemplate what vibe you're giving out, and ask yourself if that's the reason for what you're getting back?
Excellent Brunch. The stake and eggs were perfect and the flapjacks were excellent.
Stopping on the way to the cottage. Good food, great selection for breakfast and good price. Fresh fish sticks. Service is fair, not much smiling from our waitress until we tipped. Weird waiter, my friend had his feet out of his flip flops and the waiter commented saying, "I would have to ask you put your shoes on". Seemed very Asian racial. There were 2 other guys, one old and one young both had their flip flops off. An expansion of the restaurant would be a good idea because we weren't waiting for a table but others were waiting a long time. The waitresses kept promising a short wait but they waited a long time. The restaurant looked cheap when we first saw it. There were aluminum fences around the front. Inside is like a regular diner. Overall .. It's ok.. I would eat there again
My favorite place in Barrie. Cheap, fast, great service. The food is amazing, huge portions, and they are amazing at custom orders. And you can get cherry coke. Awesome.
So delicious!. This is by far my favourite restaurant in Barrie. I have been here for a few years for school and I got all the time at any time of the day and they never fail to deliver the best service and food for a poor student like myself! A standard, delicious meals doesn't cost over $15 with a drink! Thanks guys and keep up the great work!

Excellent breakfast!!! Fun atmosphere with TVs to keep the kids occupied. Portions are HUGE! Best breakfast in Barrie and great value.
See the this place a few times and finally got the chance to go in since my parent and I were doing a retro themed date. Awesome decor! The service was excellent, they were slammed but still got the good out quick and it was so delicious! And not expensive either.. I was impressed. This may be my new fave breakfast spot! I had the eggs Florentine poutine with 2 flapjacks and a milkshake 😋 amazing!
They had a very cozy breakfast diner atmosphere with fast and friendly service! The waiters were super attentive and was on the ball with drink refills! The theming was fantastic, and gave a nice setting to the diner. The food was also quite good - specifically their home fries. The home fries had a more unique flavour I have not tried before, and it was a great experience! The prices were also very reasonable. Overall great experience!
We've been going to flashback diner for a very long time. We've always gone there as a family when I was younger and now that I have my own family, we bring my son here every so often. The food and portion size is always very good. Service was okay. I do understand the old school retro style diner, but I do feel like the diner could use a detailed cleaning,.
This post is a little late but we all know it’s better late than never. So me and my friends stopped by Flashback on Sunday morning to grab a bite to eat and we were all pleased with our experience. The food was great and our server (AMBER) was fantastic. We will definitely be returning.

This was my first time to this restaurant. Waitress was attentive and seemed happy to be there. Food was good and well portioned . The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of their location. During rush hours it's a bit dodgy to get in and out. This place might be my new go to for breakfast.
Love this place for their food and service!! Staff is amazing and so friendly, you always get a substantial amount of great tasting food. The only thing I can say otherwise is it could use a refresh, maybe some paint, and a really deep clean to brighten it all back up!
