A bit expensive for what you get but food is very fresh! Busy place so it's popular with the locals. Chowder just alright. Biscuits delicious.

Great Homemade baked goods. Stopped at the cafe while in Baddeck on Vacation. Great homemade cookies, stocked up for our travels. Had the best Bumble Berry Crisp, tried some there. Returned two days later and bought more as treats while camping in the area.
We stayed in Baddeck and this came highly recommended. This place was comfy and cozy,

The staff was great. We spoke with the owner and her son. They were amazing and gave us good recommendations on what to do and eat near by as well.
Friends of ours got the ham and cheese sandwich, the cuban and salmon/cream cheese bagel with a latte. My wife and I also had the Cuban, and the bacon avocado grilled cheese and the brownie cheesecake.
Everything was top tier and delicious!! My only negative would be the price for the sandwich with chips and salsa was a bit steel, only reason for a 4 star review.
Worth going in every other way and make sure to get their famous porridge bread to make your sandwhich!
Great spot! Busy when we came in but service was not slow at all. Latte and the turnover were delicious. The quinoa scramble wrap was very good as well, although it was cold, unless it’s supposed to be served cold. Still very good overall, cannot wait to come back and try my bakery goods everything looked so delicious.

This is a beautiful little cafe. Everything is baked fresh and homemade. I had an iced coffee with oat milk: it was strong and didn't taste watered down (as iced coffees can often be). The bagel BLT with egg was delicious (egg was perfectly cooked) as well.
I bought a Cape Breton sweatshirt and met the artist (Erica) who made them. It's soft and looks like a quality product. She offered some good advice on our day trip.
Definitely worth every penny, and more.
Outstanding spot in Baddeck - a must for us on every road trip east! The Cinnamon rolls are the best ever - worth the 1800km drive ;) Lovely surprise to find it thriving under new ownership. Until next time!!
Incredibly friendly staff! A bit hectic inside but a generally pleasant experience. We got BLT breakfast sandwiches served on homemade bagels that were amazing. Coffee was pretty good. Glad to see a few gluten-free options as well.
We've gone to that cafe so many times during our short stay in Baddeck! The scones, the sandwiches and egg breakfast are amazing! The service is great and friendly! Grab a lunch if you're heading for a trail ;)
I’ve travelled to Cape Breton 6 times. I make a point of getting coffee and scones from here, 6 times. The scones are amazing! Service is very good. Very friendly staff. Always clean. And it’s nice sitting outside to start the day Love this hidden gem
Home for a visit this week and so delighted to visit the Highwheeler under its new ownership! The care and energy going into this new chapter is palpable, and the owners and staff are so welcoming! The ice cream sandwiches are outrageously good (I just finished one!). I’m heading back to Halifax tomorrow, but I’m going to be dreaming about that iced coffee until I can get back for another one- literally the best I’ve ever had! Thanks for a couple of great visits; can’t wait to come back!
