Review Yo Amo Tacos - Woodbridge

Vinisha D'Souza
This place was so beautiful, very unique!! I liked the paintings around as well as the ambience, so perfect. The service was very quick and friendly. No comments on food, it was really delicious. We had ordered veg and cheese tacos, chicken tacos, chicken nachos as well as calamari, it tasted good. Chocolate martini was my favourite, must try if you like vodka. One of the best Tacos bar I have ever visited.

Really nice place, delicious food, great environment, friendly and efficient service. The Mexican Bulldog drink was incredible! Only problem was I couldn't stop eating and now my stomach hurts lol. Definitely go with an empty stomach.

Will be back for more of the menu. We went out on a date night hearing this place has some unique food (seafood ceviche, oysters etc) but they have had to curtail the menu for COVID return a bit - no matter because the food was delicious. Prices are very good too and the atmosphere on this big patio they have set up out back where there is a ravine and NO other noise to bother you. Great music, lots of summer drink options and what a great vibe. Yes, service isn’t quick as they return from Covid but I was so delighted to see their big Tequila and Agave menu for an after dinner sip. Vivacious crowd, was great for date night and groups were having a good time too. Free parking - this place is going to be a regular stop for us.

We came to Yo Amos Tacos on a recommendation, it was a birthday party. The service was great from beginning to end! Atmosphere was good vibes only, everyone was so friendly, and the DJ's were AMAZING!! The owner came out near the end and brought everyone food and drinks....it was such an amazing vibe. Dancing outdoors was also a lot of fun. But most importantly, the food was DELICIOUS :) Everyone was very happy in our party, we all recommend and we will definitely be back to party!

Worst place I have ever been! Only good thing is food which is important. But everything else didn’t go well. First, within first 3 minutes, they asked 3 times what we would like to order in spite of me telling them to give few minutes Second, our order was simple, but it took extremely long. Two tables who came with us and after us were served before us Third, we ordered juice and was served in a liquor glass which is less than 5 ounces. That glass was also filled 3/4. They charged very high and no refills. Fourth, one of the dishes were brought wrong and they kind of expected me to take it. They said there is only slight difference between what I ordered verses what was delivered which is not true. Fifth, The desserts were also served very late after ordering. Sixth, had to wait for a long time to get the bill Seventh, most important - they have zero confidence in their hospitality. They force you 18% gratuity for the tip amount. Normally it is for more than 6 people in standard restaurants. I expect the restaurant to be in touch with me. The least they can do is give me a free entrée for the wrong food brought to the table and many other things. I would like to visit again as food was good but need some courtesy from them

Disgusted with the service we received at our first time going here. After we sat down and ordered off of their online menu a different waiter came to the table with a paper menu and told us that this was the new menu. All of the item prices were two or more dollars than what was on the online menu. After thinking it was odd we continued to order drinks and enjoyed our food. Upon receiving the bills as we split it between the two couples we realized they had double charged us for our drinks on both bills. As well, they added a 20% gratuity charge on both bills even though there was only four of us at the table. They even had the audacity to ask for a tip on top of already including the tip in the bill. I would not recommend this place to anyone as they clearly do not care about scamming customers.

Amazing vibes!!! Great music, food, and service. Everyone was very kind. Highly recommend trying this place out for Mexican food. Also, parking may be tough if it's busy. You can park across the main street.

Today I came here with my friends as we planned a reservation, and due to the fact this establishment does not have enough parking anywhere. To then be told we are late so time has been taken off our eating time. We had to stand outside waiting to see if parking spots will be made empty and they weren’t so imaging being there for your reservation and you can’t get inside because of limited parking space. My friend then went inside and told us to wait outside while she went to tell a very nice server that “hey, were outside, but there is no parking, and the server said to us don’t worry we will still be able to eat. We were not late.. Well if you guys figured out your parking situation of not being able to accommodate your customers then that is your fault not mine. The guy who has chin length hair, was being very rude and not understanding at all. Was very abrasive in tone. Was so not nice at all I wouldn’t even want to give you guys a star but unfortunately I guess I have to. Then we were seated and no menu was brought to us. We then had to ask another server to bring us a menu and that even took long enough. And to have the nerve to take long and then say we only have half an hour to eat. And it takes about 20 minutes to get a menu. I’m sorry that is bogus and so unprofessional. Then the same guy had the nerve to come to the table and ask that if anyone has come to the table. No ! Nobody has come and brought a menu. I will recommend that if you want professional customer service from this restaurant it is not it !! Go somewhere where you will be treated and the vibe is welcoming to all people of race and gender. I would like for the owner to contact me because the fact I wrote this long review is really because I did not feel welcomed and accepted. Unacceptable I felt so bad that we decided to go to another restaurant. I will definitely spread the word to people to not come to this place because of how stuck up and rude they can be and destroying a whole evening because they wanted to be mean. Shame on you

STAY AWAY. This place is horrible. I came for dinner for a friends birthday. The food took an hour to arrive. the service was horrendous. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they gave a teaspoon of all the toppings. If you wanted more (which was obvious considering what they gave was enough for half a fajita) they charged.
The food was cold. The quality was very low and did not taste good at all. Then we ordered churros. Nothing close to a churro!!!! It was a fried ball of dough - it did not even have the classic churro ridge shape, flavour or texture.

I do not recommend.

Horrible - Will Never Go Again - Epic Disappointment

What can I say? Hands down the worst dining experience and let down in the history of time. Came in with such high hopes, as on the surface, the decor and building looks amazing, they have live music on the back patio, I was expecting to be amazed. Turns out what was amazing, was how horrible the service could actually be.

A friend and myself arrive and ask for a table for two, the restaurant is mostly empty except for two large groups, one on the back outdoor patio, and one inside. The women that greets us recommends out back, as that's where the DJ was, so we try, no tables, so have to come back in side. She seats us, but takes forever to come back to order our drinks, at least 15 minutes, so I go to the bar myself to order drinks. When I come back to the table with the drinks, the waitress seems almost annoyed I got drinks myself and asks "where did you get those?" and comments on how the guy at the bar is now going to complicate her bill. She then takes our food order, it’s about 8:45pm at this point, we probably arrived around 8:30.

It takes 1 hour from now for the food to arrive - Over this hour, she didn't check on us once. No do you want more drinks. No explanation for delay or apology. Nothing for one hour. Just serving drinks to the big group inside and chit chatting with people.

At about 9:43pm my friend and I decide we had enough, and we're going to go settle up for our drinks and leave, we go to the bar, our waitress see's us, we explain we are leaving, now all of a sudden, she says its ready, and runs into the kitchen and immediately presents our orders. Makes me wonder how long they were ready.

So, against our better judgement we decide to stay and eat. The food was pretty good, but not great. It is horrendously overpriced. I recognized this going in, but just hoped it would be really good. But I paid $22 for alright enchiladas that have no sides of any kind. My friend got 3 tacos - which also have no sides - and a very weak Piña colada, his bill was $37. It was at best $15-$20 worth of food and beverage at any sane price. We waited an hour to pay too much for food that took us 5 minutes to finish.

When the waitress brought the bill, she finally apologizes / acknowledges the service was horrible, and explains the large groups and lack of staff.

My friend inquires if we can get a discount of some sort and says "so what, half off?" She says "I gave you a pretty good price already" nodding her head, implying she did something for the trouble... we open the bill... NOTHING just the menu prices which are too high to begin with!!

Who lies about giving a discount??

The most ridiculously bad experience, that went from the highest expectations, to worst outcome.

Should have went to Taco bell.

Went into Yo Amo Tacos today wondering if it was even open. It was so we thought we’d give it a try. The place was completely empty but soon more people came in.

We opened the menu and found our usual Mexican staple, Enchiladas. The price was $22!!! Even if these were the best enchiladas we’ve ever had (and we’ve had some GOOD ones) I’m sorry, there would be absolutely no way to justify $22.

Other prices on the menu were equally ridiculous. I couldn’t do it. I simply could not bring myself to order $22 enchiladas on principle.

Yo Amo Tacos (or Yo “heart” Tacos as the sign confusingly shows) is NOT a trendy or upscale place that can dare to charge prices like this for show. It’s a run down joint that really should be fairly priced and awesome like mostly every other Mexican restaurant I’ve had the pleasure to give positive ratings to.

No way, no how, no go, no Yo!

Will never return to this restaurant. I had the same experience as a previous review so I guess this must happen a lot at this dump. The place first of all looks like a joke the only reason I ended up here was because my friend has a gift card to this place and wanted to go. Plus very limited parking infront so if there is no spaces open your screwed.

We got to the restaurant at 7:30-8pm on a Friday it was a group of 5, and we walked in to see

50% of the restaurant empty. We asked to get a table for 5 and before we even finished talking the waitress or host bluntly says NO. I've never been refused service anywhere. We asked why and she stated they were fully booked. Our entire group looks around and asked how if the place was empty, she stated that it was reserved for 8:30. She then tells us the next time we come in to call and hands us a card basically kicking us out the door. We threw the card on the ground and said we wont EVER be coming back to be treated this way.

I understand waiting, or even being told a time when a table is opening up since people were eating which means one would have opened soon. No she simply refused our group. In today's world that disrespectful and wrong. Who reserves an entire restaurant, do you tell every walk in they cant eat there?

Ill stick to my good Mexican places, please hear my advice and stay FAR FAR away. Much better places out there with better location, service and food.

What a lovely place! The food was great, the staff are the best! Really had an awesome meal and a really good meal. I'll be back! Great tequila menu to, and the margaritas are to die for!

It was a good mexican fusion. Few mistakes from the waitress with the menu that she gave us, but it was alright as we paid for the prizes on the first menu. Although it is very expensive for a small portion of food. I've tried better and way cheaper. I don't mind going again but maybe just drinks...

Great atmosphere, tasty food, and live latin music. We had the nachos and the tacos. Both had great flavor. The red snapper taco was my favorite. The shrimp and lobster tacos are excellent as well. The only negative was that the tortilla was too dry and fell apart. The place also offers a great selection of drinks and desserts. Fresh oysters are also on the menu. Overall, a great place. Check it out!

AWFUL Service. Went there with 3 other people, and the waitress was capable of making a mistake on EVERYONE'S order at my table.

Missing the balance. This one has me confused.
Sadly need to tip the scales to "Not Like" Even though over all I enjoyed the cuisine. I found it to be more authentic than Tex-Mex or fast Mexican food. The bad news was the service and menu structure. That will prevent me from returning again.

Been waiting to try them out since their arrival in May 2014. I've been to the partnered one from Playa Del Carmen in Mexico so I eagerly wanted a piece of Mexico here at home.

First impression was good since the staff found the 3 of us a table to our liking with a great ravine view. We arrived early on a Friday night just before the pleasant 2 person live Flamenco act begun. The tables were well placed with cutlery hot sauces and wooden like platforms for utilitarian purposes I suppose. Every table had tiny notebooks brought in from their Mexico location, Dining guests wrote comments for all to enjoy. Interesting to thumb through while time passed. However I believe passages were not read by management nor viewed, just left on tables and forgotten. Bad comments along with vulgarity. Warning incase you do attend with children and your priest.

Shortly after we ordered our meals the teenage like loudness of the wait staff and bar area became a nuisance. This was persistent to the end of our attendance.

The cocktails had to be the worst version of margaritas I have ever had, small and awful for $10.00 each.

We flagged our server down while struggling with the awful drinks and asked if we can have something brought to our table like guacamole or salsa with nachos? He did. So my issue with this is, I believe we shouldn't have had to ask for that because my understanding is every Mexican dining experience should be greeted with that at the table, as a welcome and a palette prelude. No different then bread at an Italian establishment.

We ordered:
A classic quesadilla for one guest (Child), 6 mini soft taco sampler for another and a 4 sampler soft taco sampler for the other person. When our food arrived (Fairly quickly) all 3 orders were incorrect. 2 out of 3 of us dealt with the errors and ate it regardless and without mention. The other just couldn't eat it because of ingredients that we asked to please avoid for more serious reasons. When our server asked if all was ok we told him the error and he didn't offer to replace the one that was visually and obviously pushed aside. At that point we automatically assumed that it would be struck from the bill.

We ordered dessert while enjoying very good music in front of us, almost a personal like concert feel. The desert was out of this world and a 10 plus. The grilled pineapple with ice cream and drizzled dark chocolate paired with a scoop of dulce de leche. We also savoured the freshly made churros. So we enjoyed the music and noticed the late dining crowd coming in and it was time for us to depart and ask for the bill.

Here's were it got worse.
The table prelude of guacamole was on there. Not free.
The mess up on the tacos was on there. Not removed.
The deserts could have been a token of pardon, however they were on there but worth paying for.
The worst part of this was the quesadillas which was a childs meal should by nature come with fires especially when our server asked if we wanted fries. Nope fries where $5 on top
Wait there is more, unless you believe your Mexican food should arrive with nothing just naked ignore my rant. All the toppings like cheese, beans and rice that came beside our tacos, by nature we all believe in life.as expected and he even confirmed if we wanted it (duh...hello of course we want our tacos dressed) TOPPINGS WERE EXTRA!!! Who has tacos with out anything at all? To boot the toppings we asked to avoid in particular they still put on anyway.

So we paid over $130 for 2 adults and one child. POW!!! I think a flight to Mexico could have been looked at instead.

Food was good.
Bar drinks were bad.
Service could be better.
Management failed to jump on meal error and fix bill.
Menu structure needs balance, (Maybe its way too Mexican for North America.)
Music was fantastic.
Dessert was fantastic.

Over all I do not believe I will not return because of the cost and lack of courtesy. Yo Amo Tacos, repair your menu and understand the client needs to be happy.

Worst service ever! I went there because I had a $40 coupon from Groupon. The heat was broken in the middle of November so it felt like dining in a igloo.
During my whole 45 minutes dining, no drink was offered at all! All three waitresses were sitting at the bar drinking and talking. No one came to check if I needed anything even though I was the only customer in the restaurant! I had to walk to the bar asking for water. Even after that, until I left, I still hadn’t gotten my water.
I only ordered $35 food because the waitress told me I already reached my $40 maximum (she counted tax). I realized the mistake when I got the receipt for tax. So I wanted to add one chilli to go to make up for the $5. However, the cashier told me that “it’s too late. The order is done.”
The food was expensive. $35 food was just enough for me. One quesadilla with fries and three palm-size tacos with no side.
I am glad I didn’t bring anyone with me. The coupon was definitely not enough for two people and the service was embarrassing.

Really bummed about our dinner tonight. New place we decided to try my girlfriend and I both had fajitas, they were terrible. Crumby, disgusting tortillas to wrap up our flavourless well done meat... They were completely
Flavourless, for $18. Jack Astors' fajitas are 10x better for cheaper which I find funny. The decor is really nice and a cool restaurant but really bad food experience.

This a great place to have drinks with friends (the more the better) and there's lots of room. The service is great and there's live music anyone can love.

However, the food was a bit of a let down. They have a big menu and the variety is there but the tacos were not very good. The tortilla wasn't fresh and the toppings needed more seasoning. Also if you like churros (my favourite dessert) they're a little pasty.

Bottom line: come for the entertainment and drinks not for the food.

More than a Mexican Restaraunt!!. Normally not a tequila drinker but my friend took me to Yo Amo Tacos for my Bday... The way they're serving tequila there, blew my mind!!!! It comes with 3 shots. First one was to clean the pallet and was super yummy actually then we drank theshot of tequila and finished it up with some in-house shot of tomato juice...Loved it!!!! The food was great too. I enjoyed the music there!

Great food, atmosphere, and service. I had a superb experience at Yo Amo Tacos. I had a classic shaken margarita which was super delicious! I had the pork posole, which was delicious and tried the short rib taco...to die for! The service was very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Management opened the patio just for us, and turned the fireplace on outside so we could stay outside and enjoy the sunset and stay warm! Great service and delicious food. Will be back.

Never coming here again. Overall, I am not pleased with this establishment. I actually had to force myself to eat the tacos that were made in half a minute because they cost me 15$. The food looked like there was no effort put into it, and it tasted accordingly. There was live music that was performed well and sounded good, but from where I was sitting, it was way too loud; I couldn't hear anyone that I was with. The table we were seated at had the lightbulb burnt out so it was difficult so see as well. I think it's safe to say I won't be coming back here anytime soon.
Yum
Very disappointing experience. The food is mediocre and incredibly overpriced for the small portions served. The service is terrible. The only good thing about this place is the authentic decor and patio. Not recommended

Horrible dining experience. Dined at this restaurant for the first time this evening with my wife, daughter, father and mother in law. We had driven by the establishment and were exciting to try it given how well presented and authentic it looks from the road. Upon entering the restaurant we asked for a table away from people as our 18 month old can get tired of the dinner experience and we didn't want to bother any other diners. We found a table but the staff were not receptive in allowing us to take it. We finally found a table that was to their pleasing and were able to sit. The environment looks and feels like a real Mexican restaurant. They are not well prepared to have young children as guests as there are no high chairs and only boosters. Plus they do not have any crayons, snacks, or other items to entertain little ones.

We ordered a round of drinks for the table that took at least 15 minutes to get to the table. In fact we received our appetizers before we received our drinks. Drinks were poorly made, didn't taste of any alcohol and certainly were not worth $10 each. My father in law ordered a Mexican beer and they brought it to the table in the can. He opened the can, tasted the beer and it was room temperature. He advised the waitress and she looked at him as if to ask "what would you like me to do about it"? We are easy going people and he told her not to worry about it as he would drink it. She was pleased with this answer.

Food was average at best but very pricey. Dinner ended up costing $140 for 4 people with 4 drinks only. I ordered a Corona for myself after my meal and the waitress delivered it to the table. i tasted it to find it was also room temperature and advised the waitress of same and told her unfortunately I do not drink warm beer. She asked if I would like another, but by this point was so frustrated with our experience I just wanted to leave. We received our bill and they charged us for the warm Corona even though I returned it with a slight slip taken from it.

There was so much more that happened during our meal, but I do not want to belabor the point. I would caution any against trying this restaurant. We are thoroughly displeased as we were hoping to have a great local authentic Mexican experience. What a shame.

Great atmosphere, very nice severs & management, flavorful food! Very authentic Mexican feel to the restaurant. Will definitely make a return visit.

Disappointing experience. We were so excited to have a new Mexican restaurant in our area and couldn't wait to try Yo Amo Tacos. We went for a dinner with friends and decided to try many of the menu items and share everythibg. Chicken Tacos, Beef short rib tacos, the fish tacos, Carlo's loco salad and the burger with fries. The only thing that was any good was the burger. Yes, the burger at a Mexican restaurant.
This isn't your typical tex mex food. I think it's supposed to be Yucatan food but doesn't come close to anything from Mexico.
The chicken taco which should have been basic and delicious was the worst thing of the night. The chicken is like a spiced mush, with cinnamon and some strange textures. Just awful. The fish taco is one measly strip of battered fish with some marinated onions for $6.00! Even the salsa platter was filled with some not very spicy or fresh tasting sauces for your tacos which doesn't help them taste any better. The burger was the star of the evening, juicy and with lots of flavour. Can't say much for the fries though, WAY too salty and limp. Didn't have a crunchy bite in the bunch. The Carlo loco salad is a dog's breakfast of ingredients all mixed in a small bowl. Too small to be $15 and feels like a rip off. Overall just an awful experience with the food and with the service as the wait staff is dizzy and disorganized. Our waitress was totally confused about the Michelada I ordered. Even more booze wouldn't help wash down this meal. Won't be returning. Will have to go back to El Catrin where the food is fresh and there is ambiance to brag about.

Food was flavourful, service was excellent... We had the Pork Posole and Campirano. Pork and Chicken were both tender and seasoned well. Will definitely return!

If you're a lover of Mexican food, this place is a must. The food and ambiance of Yo Amo Tacos is the most authentic Mexican dining I've had in Canada. This comes as no surprise since their only other location (for now) is located in Playa Del Carmen in Mexico.

Yo Amo Tacos is a little out of the way for most people, as it's in a remote location inside of Woodbridge. But this is also part of what makes it such a great spot! There isn't much around to distract you from the Mexican designs and remind you that you are in fact still in Canada. Inside they often have live Mexican music and the vibe is like no other! There is seating available with a great view of the trees and plants surrounding the restaurant. There's also outdoor seating available that I haven't tried yet, but looks very nice :)

Now let's get to the food. It's awesome. Everything tastes very fresh, has great spices, and looks as amazing as it tastes. You also get a nice variety of sauces and toppings, there are so many flavours to try :)

Must Try Taco - Avocado. It's a fried avocado taco, if avocados are you're thing you should definitely give it a try. The Lobster and Shrimp tacos look great too, but I haven't tried them yet. Next on my list for sure.

Now for the drinks. Also Awesome. They have a huge menu of authentic drinks. And while they all look great, I've only tried the margaritas...because margaritas are the best, duh. You really can't go wrong with any of the margarita flavours, but one stands out for the adventurous type..the Jalepeño Margarita. If you like things spicy, it's a really cool cocktail. But fair warning, it's really spicy. I love when things are extra spicy and it was still pretty intense. One thing you can do if you want to try this, is order it mixed with another flavour to take the edge off.

I haven't tried the desserts yet, mainly because that's all valuable stomach space that could've went towards more tacos. But hopefully I'll save room and try one soon to update my review!
